Violence Against Women Update: Louisiana Murder Suspect Arrested

Deaundrey Cole was arrested Sunday in Portland, Oregon.

On the day before Mother’s Day last year, two women were murdered in Monroe, Louisiana. Deborah Collins, 60, and Florica Green, 36, were killed in a drive-by shooting, along with 17-year-old Darvis Jones. Police say neither of the women had anything to do with the dispute that led to their deaths. According to an arrest warrant for Qatarrious Dean, he and Jones had robbed a drug dealer named Deaundrey Cole:

Two witnesses told officers they saw Cole with an assault rifle in a SUV on the Saturday in question. They told officers Cole was aggravated and stated “those little n—– got me.” They later saw Cole exit the same vehicle with the rifle and say, “I told them little n—– I was going to get them,” the warrant states.
On Wednesday, MPD officers took Qatarrious Dean, 20, into custody on multiple charges, including resisting a police officer and warrants for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and armed robbery. . . .
Dean discussed the May shooting with officers after signing a form discussing his rights. He said he was at the corner of South Third and Plum streets with Jones when they saw Cole, who was attempting to sell powder cocaine.
Per the warrant, when Cole saw Jones had a pistol, he wanted to buy it. Jones then told Dean he was about to make a move on Cole, and Dean told officers he knew Jones was about to rob Cole.
Dean told officers Jones pointed the pistol at Cole and that he also pulled out a pistol to back up Jones. The warrant states Jones took cash from Cole and an undetermined amount of powder cocaine estimated at a couple of grams. Cole then left the area driving a gold SUV.
As Jones and Dean were later walking to 1400 South Third, Dean said he saw the same SUV driving south and Cole in the back passenger seat, per the warrant. He said Cole was holding a long gun and fired it once. Dean said Jones fired a pistol at the truck twice, and they ran towards the alley as the SUV drove off.
The warrant states Dean and Jones ran toward the front of the home and the same SUV pulled back and fired numerous shots. Dean said they ran toward the alley and Jones fell down, bleeding. Dean ran away.

Cole was a fugitive for more than six months, until he was arrested Sunday in Oregon after a domestic dispute led to a car crash:

Portland police on Sunday arrested a man wanted in a triple murder in Louisiana, records show. . . .
Portland police didn’t appear to know about the allegations when they first responded to a “mobile domestic disturbance” that involved a car crash, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court.
He initially gave police a false name, according to the court document, and the driver of the car he hit told an officer that he had a murder warrant from Louisiana. He insisted his name was Demetrius Jenkins and had a driver’s license and birth certificate in the name, but officers ran his fingerprints and confirmed he was the man wanted out of Louisiana, according to the affidavit. . . .
He had been arguing over the phone with the driver of the car he’s accused of hitting, according to the affidavit.

Feminists have ignored this violence against women, for some reason.

TWO MEN CHARGED IN MURDER OF LESBIAN COUPLE, TWO CHILDREN

Breaking news from upstate New York:

Two Schenectady men were arraigned on several murder charges Saturday morning following the brutal slayings of two women and two children.
Justin C. Mann and James W. White are each charged with a count of first-degree murder and four counts of second-degree murder, according to police.
Information given in court Saturday said the killings took place at about 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21. The victims were found in the basement of 158 Second Ave. [in Troy, N.Y.] on Tuesday by the apartment caretaker.
Mann, 24, of 627 Hamilton St. and White, 38, of 850 Albany St. pleaded not guilty in Troy City Court as several family members of the victims looked on. Rensselaer County District Attorney Joel Abelove was also present. . . .
During a press conference, Troy Police Chief John Tedesco said the two were apprehended without incident at 627 Hamilton St. in Schenectady. He said one of the defendants knew one of the victims but would not elaborate.
He and Abelove would not discuss the motive and declined to answer a number of questions about the case, including the method of the killings, citing the investigation. They would not say how the two suspects know each other, but said that both have records and Mann is on parole.

UPDATE: As previously reported here, the victims were Shanta Myers, 36, her girlfriend Brandi Mells, 22, and two of Ms. Myers’ children, Jeremiah, 11, and Shanise, 5. Ms. Myers’ 15-year-old son Isaiah was on a trip to a basketball tournament when his family was killed, and was the lone survivor. The question of motive remains.

UPDATE II: The Daily Mail reports that the arrests followed a tearful televised plea by a sister of one of the victims:

Before the arrests . . . Shakera Symes, the sister of 36-year-old victim Shanta, appealed to the public. ‘Give the information to the authorities so that they can help find the person who has destroyed us, emotionally, mentally. It feels like somebody has ripped us to shreds,’ she said.
‘My sister was supposed to be with me and her children, all three of them for Christmas. And I got robbed of that,’ she emotionally told reporters.
She said her and the rest of the family are completely and utterly heartbroken. ‘It feels like somebody ripped us to shreds and we only have each other right now and we are grasping and holding on to each other for dear life.’

 

Both of the men arrested have criminal records, police said, but released no details of what crimes the suspects have previously committed. If their offenses were violent, the question will inevitably be raised, why were these two criminals out on the street, and not in prison?

UPDATE III: The 22-year-old victim reportedly “hung out” with the 24-year-old accused of quadruple murder:

One of Myers’ family members told The Daily Beast that Mells was buddies with Mann, who is now accused of butchering her and her girlfriend’s family.
“I never seen him before a day in my life, neither of them,” Shanta Myers’ nephew Khalif Coleman said. “But some of my family members recognize him as Brandi’s friend. He supposedly always hung out with her.”
Department of Corrections records show Mann was released on parole in June. He was convicted of first-degree robbery in 2014.

So, just three years after being convicted of robbery, Mann was turned loose and, six months later, is now accused of mass murder.



 

‘Heinous Atrocity’: N.Y. Lesbian Couple, Two Children Brutally Murdered

News from Troy, N.Y.:

Police are working to try and unravel the mystery of who killed a woman, her partner and her two young children, whose bodies were found in a riverfront apartment house the day after Christmas.
“After being in this business for 43 years, I can’t describe the savagery of a person who would do this,” said Troy Police Chief John Tedesco.
Police on Thursday identified the victims as Shanta Myers, 36; Brandi Mells, 22; Jeremiah Myers, 11; and Shanise Myers, 5. Shanta Myers, the mother of both children, was in a relationship with Mells, the police chief said. Investigators declined to confirm the method of death or any details regarding the scene of the crime.
Tedesco declared during a news conference that the killings were “not a random act,” but wouldn’t say why he believed that was the case.
A property manager found the bodies Tuesday after being asked to check on the welfare of the residents of the apartment, one of five in a house located in the city’s Lansingburgh section along the Hudson River just north of Albany, police said.
“I don’t think there’s any doubt that a person who committed this crime is capable of anything,” Tedesco said, adding that police don’t believe there was an imminent danger to the public.
Police didn’t know when the slayings occurred, but Tedesco said he hoped autopsies being conducted Wednesday would provide clues. State police were involved in the investigation along with New York parole officials, Tedesco said.
“This will be a full-court press, if you will, until we bring someone to justice,” he said, adding that police were seeking any information the public may have about the crime. . . .
“This heinous atrocity is unimaginable, incomprehensible. I believe it affects the whole community,” said the Rev. Jackie Robinson, pastor of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Troy, who did not know the family. “Kids are traumatized. A lot of adults are traumatized too, because this monster is still out there.”

The Albany Times-Union reported that “all four of the victims were bound, with their throats cut.” The basement apartment where this occurred was in a large home that had been subdivided into five apartments. We must ask how four people could be tied up and murdered — and no one in the other apartments heard anything at the time — if there was only one killer. The police say this crime was not “random,” but neither have police suggested that the murder of a black lesbian couple and their children was a “hate crime.”

When I was tipped to this story by my brother Kirby, my immediate suspicion was that this must be a personal crime, perhaps perpetrated by the father of one of Ms. Myers’ children. But then Kirby suggested another possibility: MS-13. Could this be gang-related violence? Earlier this year, for example, police say four men were hacked to death in a New York park by MS-13 in what was described as an “initiation” for gang members. And the Rensselaer County Sheriff warned in July that MS-13 could be a problem in their area. But this is only speculation, however.

What do we actually know about the victims? The younger woman, Ms. Mells, dropped out of high school in a town near Syracuse in 2013. Ms. Myers was originally from North Carolina, and moved to Troy in 2011:

Myers was described by friends and family as a “great mother” who took her kids to school and picked them up every day, once worked at a homeless shelter, and had been toiling at a fast-food restaurant to support her kids.
“She was just a very sweet, sweet girl,” Equasia Watson, 30, who lived on the same floor of a River Street housing complex where Myers and her children previously resided, told The Post.
“I knew her from when she moved here from down South,” she said. “My son played with her son. We had dinners together. She took her kids to school. She went to work. She got her kids from school. She was always with them kids. She was a great mother.”
Myers’ sister told Spectrum News that Mells, who began dating Myers three years ago after the two met at a bar, loved Jeremiah and Shanise very much and treated them as her own.
“[Mells] was a little person, but her heart was bigger than she was,” close pal Dria Hector told NBC News, noting how Mells had dwarfism.
“She was very real. She spoke the truth. She was a sweet person, but she could have her bad days, like we all do.”

Myers had an older son, Isaiah, 15, who survived because he was away at a basketball tournament at the time his family was murdered.

There is an element of mystery about this “heinous atrocity.” Who committed this crime and what was the motive? And why haven’t feminists called attention to this act of “violence against women”? We must await developments in the police investigation, but let me go on record with my own hunch: The perpetrators were not Trump voters.

Violence Against Women Update: Houston Mother Killed, Baby Kidnapped

Grim news for the holidays:

A Texas woman killed a mother and kidnapped her infant daughter in an attempt to cover up her own miscarriage, police say.
The murder and abduction triggered a nationwide Amber Alert for 6-week-old Shamali Flores, who was found unharmed Thursday.
Erika Miranda-Alvarez, 28, was arrested and charged with the killing of 33-year-old Carolina Flores, according to her arrest record.
Carolina Flores was found stabbed to death in an apartment complex in Houston Tuesday afternoon, according to police.
Flores’ infant daughter was nowhere to be found.
Flores had moved to the United States from Honduras five years ago for a better life, according to KPRC-TV. She had two other children, ages 7 and 17, the news station reported. . . .
Miranda-Alvarez, her boyfriend and baby Shamali were taken into custody early [Thursday] morning after witnesses reported suspicious activity at an apartment complex, police said. . . .
Investigators determined that Miranda-Alvarez was due to have a baby in January but had a miscarriage.
She reportedly hid the miscarriage from her boyfriend and continued to fake the pregnancy.
She had connected with Flores through her brother, police say. She killed her and kidnapped Shamali in hopes of passing her off as her own, according to police.

Feminists haven’t commented on this crime, for some reason.

Transphobic Violence Update

Police say “Jessica” Winkler murdered “Rhiannon” Layendecker.

Earlier this week, I noted what seemed to be a case of “violence against women” that feminists would ignore: A lesbian in Florida who police say confessed to killing her wife. Turns out I was mistaken: “The two women are both transgender and neighbors say they kept to themselves.”

The reader who tipped me to this reports that court records show that the victim, formerly known as Richard William Layendecker, petitioned to change his name to “Rhiannon Winter Layendecker” in 2009, while the accused murderer, formerly known as Jason Christopher Wernet, changed his name to “Jessica Jaye Winkler” in 2010.

Neither one of them was actually a woman, in other words, and I apologize to the lesbian community for the inaccuracy of the previous report. As for the  transgender community, well, tough luck. But somewhere, I’m sure, a Gender Studies major is trying to find some way to blame this on cisnormative heteropatriarchy.

 

DNA Tests Identify 817 Serial Rapists in One County: Can You Guess Which One?

Wayne County, Michigan — that’s metro Detroit:

Ten thousand rape kits tested. One hundred twenty-seven convictions won, 1,947 cases investigated, 817 serial rapists identified.
It’s been a long eight years for Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy.
In 2009, 11,341 untested sexual assault kits — the results of an hours-long process that collects evidence from the body of a rape victim — were found during a routine tour of a Detroit police storage warehouse, some dating back to 1984. . . .
A rapist rapes on average seven to 11 times before they’re caught. … Of our set of 817 … over 50 of them have 10 to 15 hits apiece.

That’s more than 500 rapes committed by a few dozen men — in one county — and if you read the whole thing, you’ll find that these Detroit criminals identified by DNA tests have been connected to crime scenes in 39 other states. Something tells me — call it a hunch, if you will — that the predators getting locked up as a result of these investigations probably aren’t the kind of “privileged” Trump-voting Republicans that feminists have in mind when they talk about “rape culture.”

UPDATE: One of Detroit’s serial rapists:

 

A man who faced nearly three dozen rape and home invasion charges across metro Detroit was sentenced [May 25] to 55-80 years.
Ikeie Smith, 33, was charged for crimes dating back to 2011 in at least five metro Detroit cities, including Allen Park, Dearborn, Garden City and Redford Township.
His trial ended early on May 1 when Smith decided to plead guilty to all the charges, leading to his sentencing Thursday. The prosecution and defense both had opportunities to suggest sentences to Judge Dalton Roberson, then the judge spent a lengthy amount of time reading through his sentences for each of the nearly three dozen charges.
After Roberson was finished and the sentences issued, Smith was taken away — but not before looking at the judge and saying, “f— you.”

Stay classy, serial rapist!

UPDATE II: Another recent Detroit-area case:

 

Floyd Galloway Jr. told a judge last month he attacked and tried to have sex with a woman in September 2016 while she was jogging at Hines Park in Livonia.
Galloway, 30, was sentenced Friday to 16 to 35 years for the attack and attempted rape. . . .
Galloway is considered a person of interest in the case of Danielle Stislicki, who has been missing for more than a year. He was a security guard at a Southfield building where Stislicki and her mother, Ann Stislicki, worked. That’s the last place the 28-year-old Farmington Hills woman was seen in December.

So, he attacked a woman in a park, and is suspected in the disappearance of a woman from a building where he worked as a security guard. Police believe Stislicki is dead, but her body has not been found.

Police say Jessica Jaye Winkler murdered Rhiannon Layendecker.

Another victory for “marriage equality”:

An Englewood woman shot her wife to death during an argument early Saturday in their home and planned to bury the victim’s body in nearby Charlotte County, according to Sarasota County investigators.
Jessica Jaye Winkler, 48, is being charged with murder and tampering with evidence in the death of 51-year-old Rhiannon Layendecker, the Sarasota County Sheriff’s Office announced Sunday afternoon.
The investigation began when Winkler called 911 at about 3:58 p.m. Saturday to report that she murdered her wife in their home located at 1429 Overbrook Road in Englewood, the sheriff’s office said.
Arriving deputies found the victim’s body wrapped in a blanket in the bed of her own pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said.
Detectives determined that Winkler murdered Layendecker during an argument in their home in the early morning hours of Saturday.
Winkler then attempted to dispose of Layendecker’s body and other evidence, the sheriff’s office said. . . .
Winkler was arrested on Saturday and remained in custody Sunday without bond at the Sarasota County Jail.

Somewhere, a Woman’s Studies professor is trying to think of a way to blame this act of violence against women on the patriarchy.

Violence Against Women Update: Pimp Kidnapped, Raped Girls as Young as 12

News from California:

Fifteen years ago, Louis Ray Coleman took a 13-year-old off the streets and forced her to live in his basement for years, while she earned money for him through sexual servitude.
Even more shocking, Coleman, was caught red-handed in 2002 and charged with false imprisonment and pimping a minor less than 16 years old, yet only served 71 days on a probation violation, according to testimony in a kidnapping trial last month.
After jail, he found the young girl — known to the world only as Jane Doe — and she returned to his basement, where she lived out her teenage years. It wasn’t until this year and several victims later, that Doe would get the chance to face her exploiter in court. . . .
Before 2016, Coleman was caught at least four times sexually abusing or kidnapping minors as young as 12 for sex trafficking. His longest sentence was two years, and his most lenient was probation. Every time he was released, he found a new victim.
But now, Coleman is facing life in prison after being convicted of dozens of felonies related to two separate kidnappings in 2016. The victims were an adult and a 12-year-old girl . . .
In June 2016, Coleman kidnapped a woman who was new to the area, after she got lost near a BART station. After she eventually escaped from him, he kidnapped a 12-year-old who’d run away from a group home, and raped her repeatedly while forcing her to ingest meth.

This is the latest entry in our Violence Against Women series, highlighting crimes that feminists never mention, for some reason.
