Is Hillary Melting Down?

What difference, at this point, does it make?

“Hillary’s been having screaming, child-like tantrums that have left staff members in tears and unable to work,” says a campaign aide. “She thought the nomination was hers for the asking, but her mounting problems have been getting to her and she’s become shrill and, at times, even violent.”

Meanwhile:

Just days before she will take the stage in the first Democratic debate, Hillary Clinton’s lead over rival Bernie Sanders has narrowed, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.
Clinton’s support among Democratic voters fell 10 points within less than a week.
From October 4 to October 9, Clinton saw her support tumble from 51 percent of Democratic support to just 41 percent.

Meanwhile:

Democrats have moved to the left at least as quickly as the Republicans have moved to the right. . . .
As the Democratic Party lost power at the state level over the past 15 years, it also effectively shed its moderate wing. Centrist Democrats have increasingly lost seats to Republicans, “resulting in a more liberal Democratic party” overall. The authors find that the ideological median of Republican legislators has shifted much less.

Democrats’ loss of governorships and seats in state legislatures has disconnected the party from small towns and suburban middle-class communities — especially married-parent households and small business owners — so that Democrats increasingly represent, on one hand, the affluent urban elite, and on the other hand, the urban poor. The Democrat Party has a lot of college professors and high-school dropouts. The GOP voter is usually somewhere in the middle, a married parent employed in the private sector. Democrats win national elections by relying on the liberal media to help them promote fear campaigns that depict Republicans as a menace to women and minorities. This kind of bogeyman politics — “Mitt Romney’s gonna steal grandma’s Medicaid!” — attracts a lot of voters who don’t understand economics (or anything else, really) and so the electoral “base” of the Democrat Party is a Coalition of the Stupid, United by Ignorance and Fear.

So if Hillary Clinton is having a meltdown while trying to figure out why those damned kooky Democrat primary voters are going for a socialist like Bernie Sanders, whose fault is that, really?

 

Why Aren’t The Granola Heads Freaking Out About Her Majesty’s Thumb Drive?

After so many tedious decades of hearing the Church of Environmental Guano Snorting go on and on (and on an on) about the environment, global warming, carbon footprint, and other variations on the theme of pettifoggery, I should like to know where these creeps are concerning the email given to the FBI on a thumb drive, emphasis mine:

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s attorney has agreed to provide the FBI with the private server that housed her e-mail during her four years as secretary of state, Clinton’s presidential campaign said Tuesday.
Her attorney also has agreed to give agents a thumb drive containing copies of thousands of e-mails that Clinton had previously turned over to the State Department.
The FBI has been looking into the security of Clinton’s unusual private system, which has emerged as an issue in her campaign amid growing questions from Republicans and some U.S. intelligence officials about whether government secrets might have been put at risk.

Her Majesty had previously turned in the material (presumably) as part of her deforestation effort, as Taranto reported in March:

If you were following the revelations about Hillary Clinton’s private State Department IT operation last week, you probably heard that, as the initial New York Times story put it, “55,000 pages of emails were given to the department” in December after being selected by a private aide to the former secretary. You might have wondered: What does that mean, 55,000 “pages”? Or maybe you just read it, as the crack fact-check team over at PolitiFact did just last night, as 55,000 emails.
It turns out the reference is to literal physical pages. From Friday’s Times: “Finally, in December, dozens of boxes filled with 50,000 pages of printed emails from Mrs. Clinton’s personal account were delivered to the State Department.”

This blog calls for an end to the madness, specifically, by having all of the annoying Lefty twits (who’d be all on about this story if a conservative had been so callous toward Gaia) hope in their Priuses, drive to Chappaqua, and #Occupy Her Majesty’s front lawn. Democrats are Santa Claus, and it’s Christmas every day with lots of toys for good little boys and girls who vote Democrat:

With Americans shouldering $1.2 trillion in student loan debt, and about eight million of them in default, Hillary Rodham Clinton on Monday will propose major new spending by the federal government that would help undergraduates pay tuition at public colleges without needing loans.
Mrs. Clinton does not go as far as her Democratic presidential opponents in promising to end tuition debt altogether, since her plan would still require a family contribution that could involve parents taking out loans to cover some tuition.
But her proposals, which would cost $350 billion over 10 years and include new refinancing options for those already struggling with debt, are an aggressive response to what many Americans — Democrats and Republicans alike — see as a worsening crisis forcing young adults to move back home with their parents and struggle to get out from under repayment bills.

(Via Memeorandum.) As has been pointed out by economist Dan Mitchell, Hillary’s plan will actually increase tuition.

This never-ending something-for-nothing hustle — the Democrat Party’s remorseless expansion of the Welfare State, so that the government is supposed to give everbody everything, for free! — is unsustainable, and is corrupting our national character. It is immoral to believe what Democrats believe, and it is immoral to do what Democrats do. It is sinful, wicked and wrong and, hey, did I mention that feminists are promoting witchcraft in Women’s Studies courses? This is relevant, because if the federal government is going to throw $350 billion at college kids, you know a lot of those the kids will major in Women’s Studies. This is what Hillary wants, more college-educated witches.





 

The Science Is Settled: It’s a Baby

Kirsten Powers on what we might call “The Sonogram Effect”:

Pope Francis has correctly described the unborn as “the most defenseless and innocent among us.” But in the sordid tale of strategic crushing of the unborn to better harvest their hearts, lungs and livers, many Democrats have incredibly cast an organization with a roughly $1.3 billion annual budget in the role of the innocent and defenseless. Hillary Clinton emerged as Planned Parenthood’s highest profile protector Monday, decrying the “assault” against her allegedly helpless campaign donors.
The Democratic Party shilling for barbarism — whether by politicians, liberal media outlets, union officials or unrestricted abortion advocates — is not likely to be viewed favorably by future generations. These Democrats will be remembered for demonizing the activists who lifted the veil on a previously sanitized process and for seekingrestraining orders to silence truth tellers. They will be remembered for publishing dehumanizing decrees — as The New Republic did — that people stop criticizing Planned Parenthood because as a medical matter, “The term baby … doesn’t apply until birth” (that thing on your sonogram is nothing more than a “product[] of conception.”) And they will be remembered for demanding investigations into citizen journalists for meticulously exposing atrocities in our midst.

Read the whole thing. Science is on the side of life. For more than 30 years now, parents have had the experience of staring at that ultrasound screen and seeing their own children alive in the womb at 10 or 12 weeks gestation. And, because of advances in neo-natal care, there are adults alive today who were born more than three months premature.

Madeline Mann, who was born in 1989 weighing less than 10 ounces, graduated with honors from Augustana College in 2012, and last year got her master’s degree in psychology. She is certified in suicide prevention.

Life deserves a chance.

Anyone who tries to tell you otherwise . . . Well, they’re evil.

It is important to keep in mind during this controversy that, despite everything the abortion industry will try to tell you, the question is not Planned Parenthood’s existence, but whether federal taxpayer dollars should be used to fund it.

Apologists for the Culture of Death are experts at rhetorical prestidigitation, deflecting criticism and distracting the public’s attention with emotional appeals about “rights” and “women’s health.” They will use character assassination against their critics, trying to “kill the messenger” by demonizing their opponents with accusations of bad faith (mala fides) that are irrelevant to the issue. However, we do not need to engage in metaphysical or existential debates about “rights” in order to say that American taxpayers should not be required to fund an organization that profits from what everyone with a conscience recognizes as a ghastly and abominable business:

We have passed the point where Nazi comparisons are inappropriate. In the latest video about Planned Parenthood, if you want to watch it, you will see an admission that some of the children are born alive before being killed and carved up — their bodies being sold essentially for scrap.
These are children. They entered into the world alive and were killed, chopped up, and sold bit by bit.
“It’s a boy,” one person commented in the latest film. They talk about the commoditization of children’s eyeballs (the ones in the video were not developed enough), hearts that turn to mush they are so small, and reference the legs, feet, and hands of the children.
They are children being killed, butchered, and sold in pieces.

Sex Scandal Hits Foreign Billionaire Who Gave $5 Million to Clinton Foundation

Hansjorg Wyss is a 79-year-old Swiss business mogul who is “a generous donor to major liberal groups like the Center for American Progress and longtime financial patron of Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta.” In December, Wyss made a $5 million commitment to Hillary Clinton’s “No Ceilings” women’s empowerment project at the Clinton Foundation. However, Wyss has been accused of sexually abusing a Colorado woman, according to a report by Richard Pollock of the Daily Caller:

At issue in the federal district court case was a $1.5 million settlement of a suit brought by Jacqueline Long, a Colorado woman who charged that Wyss brutally and sexually abused her for years while serving as his employee.
Long, a former development officer at the HJW Foundation, said she had to have sex with him in return for his grants to non-profits that focused on at-risk youth and sex trafficking, causes to which she was passionately devoted.
“He was not interested in these programs,” Long told the Daily Caller News Foundation in an exclusive interview. “He was only doing it in reward for my having sex with him. It was a tool for leverage.”

Pollock published that article last month. Now, lawyers for Wyss are trying to intimidate the woman (and the Daily Caller) into silence:

Hansjorg Wyss — a foreign billionaire with intimate ties to the United States’ top Democrats — wants authorities to imprison an American woman for speaking publicly about allegations of sexual abuse at his hands. . . .
Jacqueline Long of Aspen, Colorado alleges that Wyss would demand sex, and then later shower her with expensive gifts and contributions to causes she, as a development officer, advised the foundation to support.
Shortly after The Daily Caller News Foundation published a June 8 article that quoted Long, a lawyer for Wyss (pronounced “Vees”) filed an “emergency motion” asking Philadelphia County’s Court of Common Pleas to impose sanctions, including imprisonment, to prevent further violations of the non-disclosure provision of a May 2013 settlement agreement.
The court has yet to decide on the Wyss motion, which was filed June 17.
Lawyers for Wyss, a Swiss businessman who in December 2014 contributed $5 million to The Clinton Foundation’s feminist “No Ceilings” project — a favorite of Hillary Clinton — also threatened TheDCNF.
In a June 9 letter to The Daily Caller News Foundation, Wyss attorney Carolyn P. Short demanded an “immediate retraction” of the earlier report because, she charged, the article contained many “blatant falsehoods.” Failure to retract would result in litigation, Short warned.
In response, TheDCNF asked Short to cite specific errors in the story. In a June 10 email to Short, TheDCNF’s counsel replied, “you refer to ‘many blatant falsehoods’ in the reporting. If you can identify what specifically is false, we will review it immediately. If any thing is incorrect, we want to fix it.”
Short declined to identify any errors. Instead, she made a sweeping assertion, claiming the article contained “reckless, damaging and false allegations from a former disgruntled employee who is solely seeking to leverage those false statements for financial gain.” . . .
The original June 8 story highlighted Long’s case. She was a former employee at a Wyss foundation and at a California vineyard he owns. She described a lengthy intimate relationship with Wyss that allegedly turned violent and abusive.
The 2013 settlement agreement provided a $1.5 million payment to Long and a provision in which both parties agreed to keep details of the agreement secret.
Long’s supporters vigorously defend her and denounce Wyss, arguing that threatening her with jail for going public about his conduct toward her amounts to another round of abuse.
“I think he’s taking a bullying tactic,” Long friend Katie Beckley told TheDCNF. It’s another form of abuse.” Beckley specializes in grief therapy and operates a counseling practice in Aspen.
“He decided to be so vengeful toward her. It was pure vengeance. I was encouraged to see her speaking out. I think it showed a lot of courage,” Beckley said.

Here’s the thing: Non-disclosure agreements are there for a reason. When rich men pay hush money to their former mistresses, they expect to get what they pay for, namely, silence. It would seem that Jacqueline Long got her money, but she didn’t shut up.

For $1.5 million, you can buy a whole lot of silence, but that’s chump change to a guy like Wyss, and once the details of the lawsuit leaked to the media, he had a whole new problem. You see, it’s not the Daily Caller’s fault Jacqueline Long can’t keep her mouth shut, and it’s certainly not my fault. By trying to make Jacqueline Long shut up — and by trying to intimidate the Daily Caller — Wyss’s lawyers are calling attention to a story that we might otherwise have ignored.

This is called “The Streisand Effect.”

They chose poorly.
