Ilya Somin will speak at Notre Dame on Thursday. He’s a rather busy fellow at Cato, but threw down the gauntlet to the Constitutionally illiterate on the topic of health care:

You know that it would be untrue,
You know that I would be a liar,
If I was to say to you,
I’ve only got 218 blatantly un-American pieces of work that I desperately need to retire. . .
That last line seems to be just a bit short.
Meanwhile, the OCTOPUS (Ol’ Cousin TO President, United States), seems dissatisfied with the representation some citizens are receiving. The dissatisfaction has bubbled up into a full-on site, filled with great information for use in a peaceful, ballot-box revolution in a district near you:

Bluegrass Pundit wants to know if Senator Coburn is drinking the Kool-Aid, just because he’s attempting to neutralize some of the bile aimed at the Speaker of the House.
Pay attention, people: it is never wrong to be gracious to the foe:
If thine enemy be hungry, give him bread to eat; and if he be thirsty, give him water to drink: For thou shalt heap coals of fire upon his head, and the LORD shall reward thee.
Pro 25:21,22
Furthermore, as a doctor, Senator Coburn knows that there is a vas deferens between being gracious towards the foe personally, and agreeing with the economically infeasible, un-Constitutional insults to the American people they are peddling.
This story could have major ramifications in Georgia and beyond:
Left-wing rage over Georgia Rep. John Barrow’s vote against ObamaCare has reportedly prompted the powerful MoveOn.org political action committee to target him for defeat in this year’s Democratic primary.
Barrow was among those “Blue Dog” Democrats slammed last summer by MoveOn.org radio ads . . . Sources in Georgia tell the American Spectator that MoveOn.org’s PAC has already purchased time on Savannah stations for more anti-Barrow ads. . . .
Read the whole thing. Also check out this profile of Georgia’s 12th District by Jake at Red State. The situation confronting Barrow is the tip of an iceberg of “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” politics for Blue Dog Democrats this year.
In competitive districts, there wasn’t really a “safe” vote on ObamaCare for Democrats. On the one hand, a “yes” vote would put them in the crosshairs of conservatives; on the other hand, a “no” vote would undermine grassroots support among the liberal Democratic base. I expect that this November, you’ll see Blue Dogs defeated both ways. In fact, the eradication of the Blue Dogs as a meaningful influence in Democratic Party politics may be the most important part of Obama’s “legacy.”

Toward the end of a question-and-answer session with workers at an advanced battery technology manufacturer, a woman named Doris stood to ask the president whether it was a “wise decision to add more taxes to us with the health care” package.
“We are overtaxed as it is,” Doris said bluntly.
Obama started out feisty. “Well, let’s talk about that, because this is an area where there’s been just a whole lot of misinformation, and I’m going to have to work hard over the next several months to clean up a lot of the misapprehensions that people have,” the president said.
He then spent the next 17 minutes and 12 seconds lulling the crowd into a daze
POTUS: brevity.

Update: Teach had a good title, too, but I win the alliterative battle.
Drew M. at Ace of Spades says John Cornyn is “starting to go wobbly,” which involves the wholly unwarranted assumption that Cornyn was ever steady to begin with.
It was Cornyn who, by giving the National Republican Senatorial Committee’s endorsement to Charlie Crist — 15 months before the Florida GOP primary — sparked the Not One Red Cent rebellion.
Over and over, we have seen recently that Republican “leadership” in Washington is a joke, their cowardice exceeded only by their incompetence. Pete Sessions and the National Republican Congressional Committee squandered hundreds of thousands of dollars on the Dede Scozzafava campaign, and the NRCC’s candidate-recruitment efforts consist mainly of trying to find “self-funders” — e.g., Ben Quayle types with lots of Daddy’s money to throw around — rather than identifying real leaders with solid values, like Vernon Parker.
The recent foibles of the Republican National Committee are too numerous to mention, but the bondage-nightclub fund-raiser is the tip of a very large iceberg of RNC staff blunders. The RNC also backed Scozzafava and there was that moronic Powerpoint presentation. Now Michelle Malkin calls our attention to the latest outrage:
Mr. Steele agreed to meet with the immigration groups after they staged a brief but noisy sit-in at the R.N.C. offices on March 22.
Several advocates emerged from the closed-door session to say Mr. Steele had pledged to help find at least one more Republican sponsor for a bill being crafted by Senator Lindsey O. Graham, a Republican from South Carolina, and Senator Charles E. Schumer of New York, a Democrat.
The advocates “walked away with a commitment from Steele to work with Sen. Lindsey Graham and the party’s leadership to enlist another Republican senator’s support for comprehensive and bipartisan immigration reform,” the leaders of the Fair Immigration Reform Movement said in a statement. The movement is a coalition of groups that support a path to legal status for illegal immigrants.
This kind of sellout — the GOP elite betraying the party’s conservative grassroots — occurs routinely. While I was in Arizona, I heard rumors that if John McCain’s big money isn’t enough to buy re-election, the NRSC will spend money to help McCain destroy J.D. Hayworth. It’s typical of the kind of clueless Republican “leadership” that spent $320,000 to help Arlen Specter defeat Pat Toomey in 2004 — and was prepared to do the same this year, until Specter decided he was a Democrat:
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Tex.), head of the National Republican Senatorial Committee, [wrote an April 2009 letter] to fellow Republicans asking them to support Specter.
And Cornyn certainly wasn’t alone:
In a sign of party support, Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell’s Bluegrass PAC contributed $10,000 to Specter [in March 2009].
“Does the GOP have enough balls?” Neither balls, nor brains.

Clifton over at Another Black Conservative posts on what the Romney campaign can only view as a swift kick in the naughty bits: a connection between RomneyCare and ObamaCare by BHO himself. Clifton then poses two genuinely interesting exit questions:
We will no doubt see this clip played over and over again by Romney’s potential GOP rivals. Question 1: Who do you think will produce the most brutal attack ad with this clip, Palin, Huckabee or Pawlenty? Question 2: Is there an effective way for Romney to overcome the RomneyCare issue?
A1: Dude, you just don’t even know what a knock-down-drag-out ad Joe Lieberman is going to come out with for this, when he runs as an independent with VP nominee John McCain.
A2: Romney’s key to survival is to become Federalist Rampant Gules:

The reason the country is in the toilet is that Progressivism has pulled us away and buried us in the sinkhole of debt.
If Romney has a come-to-Beavis moment, breaks the elitist mold of thinking DC knows best, and will fight to restore the states to political relevance, then the Americans could flock to his banner.
States should be the places where policy affecting individual citizens, like healthcare, student loans, taxation, mortgages, &c should rightfully occur, not in DC.
Americans could flock to the Romney banner, so long as he’s not just pushing Old Spice:

BlogProf has the audio of Rep. Dingell comparing ObamaCare to the RMS Titanic. This is so outrageous. The Titanic was a proper ship. If properly crewed, there is no reason she would not be maintained in a state of pristine newness through massive amounts of paint and polish, just like Nancy Pelosi.
Opines the BlogProf:
Every time the man talks, it’s a mixture of moonbattery and unintended truthful moments. During the contentious summer between Democrat lawmakers and constituents, Dingell made some of his most famous gaffes, such as comparing tea party protesters to the KKK
A much better, if less known, nautical metaphor than the Titanic is the Vasa, which launched and scuttled itself after something like a nautical mile underway. More cowbell is not always better cowbell.
For Godwin’s Law reasons, we’ll leave the Graf Zeppelin out of this.
