The Tea Party Express is rolling through some of the bluest Congressional districts on its fourth trek leading up to the election. What a great job they’ve done the last couple of years, keeping the Tea Party spirit alive.
They can’t make it everywhere, though, and let’s face it: Beltway traffic around DC ain’t beanbag. Whaddaya do? If you’re the first viable VA-8 contender in memory, you tell the cavalry to mount up and get to it:
The bus tour will run from Monday, October 25th to Sunday, October 31st and we need to raise $15,000 in the next five days for the “Drive to Victory Fund”.
Would you like to be a sponsor of the tour?
For a $250 contribution, we’ll put your name on the side of the bus!

I’m looking forward to blogging some of these stops, schedule willing.
St. Albert of Gore himself praised Jim for Moran’s ‘leadership’ on wrecking the economy in the name of Green interests.
And I heard Moran bloviate in person about Nancy Pelosi’s colostomy bag of tricks, or, ObamaCare, as it is commonly despised.
Is there any doubt but that Jim Moran wouldn’t bend over backwards to offer a dhimmi salute to the Ground Zero Mosque?
He said essentially the same thing at the Asian-American Debate. Note, though, the convenient invocation of the Constitution in support of religious tolerance (sure), which document he has apparently studied with the attention he lavished upon ObamaCare. Oh, wait. If he’d studied that single most wrenching change in our society in any detail, he might not be from a State whose Attorney General is about to turn ObamaCare into a suppository all these Lefty knobs can enjoy.
We should all be tolerant, on an individual basis. Whether or not, in the specific case of the GZM, New Yorkers, as a group, should tolerate unrepresentative behavior from officeholders is another matter.
So, how can we dispose of Jim?
Last night I was at the local high school, passing out flyers to support Patrick Murray. Total count of Moran supporters at this significant parent’s night event: 0.
Tonight I swung by the campaign office proper, and the joint was packed.
The phones were all manned, so I found myself stuffing envelopes for a mailer to a few thousand ladies in the district.
There are still a couple of debates in the remaining fortnight before the election. Every day, more people find out that someone is offering a credible challenge to this old and tired hack.

Less the HTML, he’ll have this in his inbox for tomorrow. Are you supporting a financially disadvantaged race? Feel free to adapt this idea:
Dear Congressman Moran,
It’s a matter of public record that you’re a spread the wealth kind of guy:
It’s also a matter of FEC record that you’re in great shape in terms of funding, with $417,500 from your PAC, for example. It just occurred to me, as a purely private blogger, just scratching out a post here in the basement, that you’ve got a real opportunity on your hands to put your actions where your principles are and support the Patrick Murray campaign. What would really highlight your re-distributionist principles in action would be a twofer:
A right jolly blowout of a GOTV party around Halloween, and
Bringing in Ladd Ehlinger for a Murray campaign clip, while we still have time to get it some airtime.
Such a generous undertaking would highlight your philanthropic chops and commitment to remaining unencumbered with all that bad, bad capitol. $50k is not too small an amount to consider for this important undertaking.
Hoping to see you unemployed in January,

That’s not motor oil you smell, it’s Eau de Moran, the perfect cologne for the high-RPM party tool:
Just so the rest of the country knows, I’ll be phone banking again tonight, as well as whatever is going on this weekend, to support Patrick Murray against this guy.
Why? Because I love the country too much not to do everything I can to upgrade our Congressional representation.
My only regret is that I didn’t do more than vote to retire this guy earlier.
And. . .the first bit of polling info smells like bacon:
An internal poll (R) taken in Virginia’s 8th District (Alexandria, etc.) shows ten-term US Rep. Jim Moran (D) with 45 percent to 32 percent for his Republican opponent, retired Army Col. Patrick Murray. Less than 50 percent is a weak sign for an incumbent, especially this one, deemed a shoo-in by most observers. However, it was a Republican poll.
Do we need to call in Mr. Wolf, The Cleaner, from over at BlackFive? Hardly. We’re only talking about “Gentleman” Jim Moran here. As, according to Wikipedia, Moran was beavering away in school during Vietnam, we couldn’t expect him to shoot for a VFW endorsement. The Military Officers Association of America, MOAA, on the other hand? I’ve just seen an email to MOAA members objecting to this campaign literature (click image for full size .pdf), along with what could be called a rather curt memo. Oops:
The reason for the objection? MOAA has a strict no-endorsement policy, for tax reasons. Probably just an administrative oversight. Let’s envision the staff meeting, shall we?:
I’m looking at this pamphlet, Kleinewimper, and I don’t see any military endorsements. We need something to paper over my pasty beaurocratic flesh and make me appear patriotic. I’m beginning to get just a little worried about Patrick Murray.
Too much scrutiny. We have to make sure that the usual people do the standard thing and rebury that zombie scandal. Who at the VFW owes us a solid?
K:
Uh. . . uh. . .Boss, there is some blowback building over the VFW endorsing cretins over veterans. . .
M:
Are you saying I’m a cretin? *whack*
K:
Owwwww! No, please don’t hit me, boss! I meant that some of the other VFW edorsements went to cretins.
M:
Well! See that you remain respectful. Who should we get? Find some reservist association, I don’t care. All I want is this pamphlet to have a bit of military flavor. What’s so hard about that?
K:
My neighbor is in MOAA. I’ll talk to him.
M:
Yeah, sure, NOAA. I don’t care. Just get my stupid pamphlet filled in. If NOAA squawks, I’ll have Gore tell them to lay by their dish.
Thanks for doing the right thing, MOAA. This blog is fairly sure which way the organization would break between a tool like Moran and a veteran like Murray, were it to offer endorsements. Moran and his ilk represent the worst of a century of Progressivism. VA-8 does not need someone committed to Murtha-ism (i.e. dying in office), who thinks that the country exists to serve a few like him and his cronies. Rather, someone with a proven track record of serving the country.
Check out #41, Todd Young–my Naval Academy classmate! Go, Navy!
What I can’t grasp is the focus on 50. It’s as though we should. . .stop there, or something. Up that! There isn’t a single Democrat incumbent that doesn’t merit cashiering on 02 Nov. Even if loss of circulation above the neck in your district has turned heads particularly blue, you still want the tattered shreds of the Democrat party that remain; huddled, weakened, fearful, to spend more time planning their retirement after the 112th Congress than they do anything else.
So support your local candidate!
Rep. James P. Moran Jr. (D-Va.), who chairs the House Appropriations Committee’s interior and environment subcommittee, said that if Democrats retain control of the House in the midterm elections, he will press for a moratorium on drilling in the mid-Atlantic and off Alaska.
“The gulf is going to go back to drilling. That’s just the nature of the gulf,” Moran said. But he added, “I think we have at least a 50-50 chance of protecting the Atlantic and Pacific coasts.”
Other than explaining the adulation from ManBearPig, this quotation does little to explain how the country can prosper with myopia in place of a vision for energy independence.
With sufficient effort, the Democrat Party will lose the House, and with supreme effort, Moran can be sent packing.
I’m not saying that “Gentleman” Jim Moran is, you know, incontinent at the thought of having a non-Ruling Class American tell him to stand and deliver for his two decades of largesse, but look what happened.
Jim Moran had to summon the infamous Anthropogenic Global Warming Climate Change Disruption fraudster, Nobel medalist, Academy awardee, renowned Doctor of Chakra-ology and Clinton Administration doorstop, Al Gore, to whip up the robots. Fairfax Democrats were kind enough to link about three minutes of Saint Albert, but not actually make the video available at the link. OK, a YouTube search on “Al Gore Jim Moran” turned up what appears to be the clip, under some user name murray4pollution. Probably the same blokes at Fairfax Democrats, but not wanting to Gore up their regular account. Perfectly understandable.
I’m going to go out on a limb and venture that Patrick Murray has never endorsed pollution or polluting, and may be mildly surprised that someone would attempt to suggest he had.
In any case, here is the clip:
My informal transcript:
…he truly deserves it.
It’s a joy for me to be here and speak for him and to join with all of you in providing support for this campaign. And the reasons are many. I won’t go into all of them. But most of you know very well that Jim has done an outstanding job.
I’ve paid particular attention to his work on the environment and the climate crisis. And he’s been fantastic, and has taken tough decisions, courageous decisions, wise decisions, and has provided real leadership, and of course, he has worked his way up to the point now where he is in a position of real leadership. A member of the Steering and Policy Committee, part of the formal leadership. Chair of the Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, and that’s a big deal, as all of you know.
And a very, very respected voice on issues from the environment and energy, to civil rights and equal justice for all Americans. And of course, that’s core to who we are as Americans. And each successive generation has its own new challenges to expand the tremendous dream and vision that led to the founding of this country in the first place. Jim has been true to the American spirit all the way along the line.
He’s also been very prescient. He was one of those who was calling for a reexamination of some of the practices that allowed the offshore drilling disaster in the Gulf of Mexico before that thing took place, and has been calling for more inspections and all the rest, and really has been a leader on protecting Virginia’s coast, cleaning up the Chesapeake bay, fighting for cleaner water, cleaner air, a better environment, a better future. These things are, of course, are really important.
And when you look at the contrast with the other side, his opponent is calling for, you know, doubling down on the hair of the dog that bit us, as Damon Runyon once wrote. More fossil fuels. Let’s just go back and. . .more drilling and more carbon pollution and pretend that’s going to solve the problem. And of course, it’s not.
Jim has also been very attentive to this district, and I don’t need to tell this crowd this, on all the infrastructure issues, and employment issues, and all of the major measures that affect the flows of revenue into this district. He knows how to get in there and slug it out and get the results for his constituents.
In summary, “Gentleman” Jim Moran is a tool, a tool’s tool, and a preferred tool for the extension of the vast Federal machine that has weakened the States, and brought you crippling levels of debt.
Employing Al Gore to raise support here is like Barney Frank reaching for Bill Clinton in Massachusetts. Well, maybe not reaching in quite the same way, but the desperation is clear; the Patrick Murray insurgency, along with the general anti-Democrat mood, has “Gentleman” Jim in fear.
