Oh, It’s A Retirement, All Right

Althouse picks up on the phrase: “my last campaign” in an Obama fundraising pitch.
And I don’t want to sound alarmist, so let me go at this with minimalist phrasing: given the record of the past three years, can you be 100% sure that, accepting the premise of a second term, that Barack wouldn’t pull some stunt to retain executive power after 2016?
I accept the stated facts of Barack’s Hawaiian birth and Christianity. Other than those, there hasn’t seemed to be a straight word #1 out of the fellow. So, full circle, then: what’s your confidence level in this guy again?
That Obama talks about the Constitution like a dog.
I’m Sure Your Mother Will Love That Lawn Mower You Bought Her on Amazon

What mom wouldn’t be overjoyed to receive a 21-inch 160cc lawn mower for Mother’s Day, right? That was really thoughtful of you to buy that for your mom via our Amazon Associates links, so that you get low prices and free shipping — and also kick me a small commission.
Silly me! When I promoted our Mother’s Day specials last week, I thought maybe you’d want to buy your mom some tasteful jewelry, but when I checked the sales report — a lawnmower! Why didn’t I think of that? Also, that Canon Laser Wireless Color Printer with Scanner, Copier and Fax? Truly a thoughtful present for dear old Mom! And what about that electronic dog fence with shock collar? I bet you can’t wait to see the smile on Mom’s face when she opens that lovely gift!
Of course, maybe our other readers aren’t thoughtful like you, so they’ll probably just buy their mom some boring old jewelry.
But that’s OK. You can buy anything through our Amazon Associates links, and your mother will be so proud that you saved money — and kicked me a small commission at no extra cost — because that’s the kind of thoughtful person you are.
Obama Throws EPA Moron Under Bus, Bashes Republicans, Panders to Unions

“Oh, the wheels on the bus go round and round!“ Guess what? Obama’s big corporate donors don’t like being “crucified” by the EPA:

Environmentalists are too stupid to understand that Democrats, despite all their “green” rhetoric, are perfectly willing peddle their asses to Corporate America. But of course, environmentalists are only slightly less stupid than union members:
During his 2008 campaign for president, Mr. Obama relied heavily on unions for millions of dollars of support, as well as labor’s national get-out-the-vote grassroots network. Mr. Obama has sometimes been at odds with labor during his three years in office but will need all the support he can get from unions ahead of the November election.
In recent weeks and months, Mr. Obama’s been working to mend fences. In February, Mr. Obama delivered a blistering attack on Mitt Romney when he spoke before United Auto Workers, highlighting his GOP rival’s opposition to the auto industry bailout. . . .
“Republicans in Congress would rather put fewer of you to work rebuilding America than ask millionaires and billionaires to live without massive new tax cuts,” he said. . . .
“If we’re smart about it, we can also afford to make the investments that will help our country and the American people in the short-term,” he said. “I think that’s a no-brainer. But apparently, Republicans disagree.”
It does no good to tell union members that they’re being lied to, ripped off, backstabbed and sold out by the Democrats. No, the stupid rank-and-file membership will swallow this dishonest rhetoric — “Republicans want to give tax cuts to billionaires!” — and vote for Democrats, and will never notice that their dues are being squandered to help corrupt Democrats and union leaders get rich.
The ‘Million Ugly Women’ March
Posted on | April 30, 2012 | 77 Comments
OK, I’m lying. There weren’t really a million of them:
On Saturday, a coalition of women’s rights, feminist, labor, progressive and pro-choice groups organized marches in over 50 cities nationwide to protest in favor of President Obama’s health care agenda and against any restriction on abortion rights.
Photojournalist Ringo of Ringo’s Pictures attended the Los Angeles rally . . .
A couple of the more gruesome samples:
These ladies, representing the Party of Socialism and Liberation, seem to believe that their right to abortion is being threatened. Of course, this “right” is merely hypothetical so far as these women are concerned. There isn’t enough Viagra and Cialis on the planet to enable any man to do the deed necessary to impregnate such hideous creatures.
Really? I mean, really? Here’s a hint, sugar: If your political philosophy can be boiled down to “make me a sandwich,” you’re probably not going to be able to parlay that into a governing majority.
Also, you obviously don’t need any more sandwiches.
A Pansy-Assed Apology: ‘You Christians Are Too Christian, and Not Gay Enough’
Posted on | April 30, 2012 | 28 Comments
Over the weekend, Dan Savage’s attack on Christianity became an online sensation — strange, how these coincidences happen — to the point that he felt obliged to issue an apology for a dishonest new defense of his hateful bigotry: Because the Bible says things Dan Savage doesn’t like, you must reject God and obey Dan Savage.
Quod Erat Demonstrandum!
Roxeanne de Luca helpfully translates Savage’s message:
“The core of anti-bullying is for me to retaliate against people who bullied me back in the 1980s by bullying kids who weren’t even alive back then, but are sort of like the people who bullied me. ‘Cuz I’m anti-bullying, dude, I perpetuate the cycle of bullying!”
People like Dan Savage never apologize. Their arrogant sense of entitlement — their privileged status as Righteous Victims — prevents them from acknowledging any capacity for error.
Externalizing blame for their unhappiness by inveighing against ideological scapegoats, their psychopathic politics requires them to believe that no wrong they commit can detract from their moral superiority to the objects of their hatred.
They hate God and love only themselves, considering Christians “a thankfully shrinking minority in this country.”
“Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools . . .”
UPDATE: Wow, Teresa Koch sure hates gay people, huh? (BTW, Teresa: Your daughter is not actually gay. She’s part of the alarming upsurge of pseudo-lesbianism that began on April 28, 1989, which just happens to have been the day I got married. Your daughter, like so many other attractive young women, apparently decided that if I was no longer available . . .)
When Trolls Attack: Marcusean Mob Gets @ChrisLoesch Bounced from Twitter
Posted on | April 30, 2012 | 42 Comments
“Liberating tolerance, then, would mean intolerance against movements from the Right and toleration of movements from the Left.”
— Herbert Marcuse, “Repressive Tolerance,” 1965
Sunday night, I was a guest on “BlogMock Radio,” the weekly online podcast hosted by Blogmocracy and Diary of Daedalus, and a caller asked, “Did you hear what happened to Chris Loesch?”
Chris Loesch is a musician who joined forces with Steven Crowder to perform as Powdered Zombies for the viral rap hit “Mr. America.”
Chris is also, not coincidentally, the husband of blogger/talk-radio host/CNN contributor Dana Loesch. Chris was arguing with some left-wingers on Twitter who had attacked his wife when the enlightened tolerant progressives decided — to borrow a phrase from Spencer Ackerman — to smash him through a plate-glass window. Chris explained to Twitchy what happened:
I was suspended 20 minutes after I was done debating a few liberals. Twitter’s suspension message to me stated that I had used “Abusive Language” I never cursed, threatened or belittled anyone. . . .
I stumbled upon a few tweets between the liberals I was debating, discussing getting groups together to block conservative twitter accounts in mass. I am certain that @OccupiedMuslim got her entire OWS rally in NYC to report me for spam. I wish I would have taken a screen shot because those tweets were deleted as soon as I started making noise about it. . . .
This is clearly a tactic being used by the left and Twitter is either ignorant or allowing it to occur.
Got it? Any conservative active on Twitter is familiar with how left-wing trolls — many of them associated with the Occupy movement — like to get up “in your face,” hurling abusive language and dishonest smears. The best response usually is to ignore them.
Most people don’t have time to waste on such vermin, but ignoring the troll attacks will sometimes give them the idea that they are “winning” (Charlie Sheen-style), so that the trolls start congratulating each other on their success, and claiming that the objects of their attacks are too stupid or too cowardly to engage them in arguments. You’ll never guess who wrote this:
Right wingers harass, abuse, insult & attack people constantly on Twitter, then act outraged and whine when their accounts are suspended.
OK, maybe you did guess, huh? This is what happens when the target responds to the trolls: The enlightened tolerant progressives deliberately mischaracterize the response as an “attack,” or “whining,” as if the targets of their vicious dishonest online aggression had no right to answer them back. And now, as the case of Chris Loesch dramatizes, the Left has begun organizing stalker mobs to falsely report conservatives for “spam”/”abuse,” in order to silence the Right on Twitter. Why?
Silencing opposition is the Left’s only hope for success.
If conservatives are permitted a fair chance to critique the Left’s agenda, to expose the Left’s tactics and demonstrate the failure of the Left’s policies, the Left loses. Not content to dominate academia, public schools, the entertainment industry, book publishing and the mainstream news media — all of which cultural institutions are characterized by an overwhelming liberal hegemony — the Left is now determined to silence conservative opposition in the few bastions of freedom that remain: Talk radio, cable TV and the Internet.
Nearly half a century has passed since Marxist theoretician Herbert Marcuse proposed a “liberating tolerance” — in fact, progressive intolerance — that would silence the Left’s opposition. Many old-fashioned liberals at that time recognized the totalitarian nature of Marcuse’s formula. Leszek Kolakowski observed that the ultimate object of Marcuse’s ideology was “Marxism as a Totalitarian Utopia. . . . the freedom he advocates is non-freedom.”
Here we are now in 2012, and we see mobs of left-wingers still pursuing the Marcusean totalitarian formula: Smash the opponent “through a plate glass window,” as Spencer Ackerman infamously said, and do not scruple about the means to the end. If one imagines that the Right is Evil by definition, then defeat the Right “by any means necessary,” to employ a favorite slogan of the Left.
Ten days ago, Daniel Vergara committed libel against me — and Twitter has still done nothing about Vergara’s defamation.
Yesterday, a left-wing online mob attacked Chris Loesch, and Twitter suspended Loesch’s account. When conservatives rallied under Ben Howe’s #FreeChrisLoesch banner, Loesch was briefly reinstated, but continued agitation from the left-wing Twitter trolls resulted in a second suspension. If this could happen to such a prominent person, whose wife is a paid contributor to CNN, what do you suppose happens to smaller, less influential figures online?
As Twitchy documents, these attacks have happened to many conservatives, and Twitter has done nothing to stop it.
Anneke Green reports the story at The Washington Times. Now a Memeorandum thread, with commentary from Hot Air and Nice Deb.
Conservatives must defend free speech now, before the Left uses Marcusean “liberating tolerance” to silence all opposition.
UPDATE: Darleen Click on the Twitter troll tactics:
They even believe they “own” certain hashtags and target conservatives who engage, mockingly or seriously, in “their” space.
Sister Toldjah was able to uncover one of the “hit lists” and, scroll down and you’ll find me and Serr8d on the list.
She’s exactly right: The Left wanted to “own” the #OWS and #Occupy Twitter hashtags, and when conservatives began using those tags to promote stories documenting the criminal violence of the Occupy movement, the Left became enraged. Well, they were enraged already, I guess, but they went into an especially demented sort of frenzy at being unable to control the “narrative” of the Occupy movement.
UPDATE II: Da Tech Guy sees Soviet tactics by the Left, while Dan Collins discusses the possibility that the White House is orchestrating such attacks. One need not believe that to understand that Our President has done nothing to discourage the Left’s venomous hatefulness and has, indeed, in many ways fomented it.
Axelrod Interviewed By Strolling Drone

[Strolling Drone correspondent Sissypuss interviewed former Obama Administration political guru David Axelrod for its June 01, 2013 edition. This is a wide-ranging retrospective look at the Meltdown of 2012, the fallout from that, and what he’s been doing since he gave up politics in June 2012 for the other love of his life, rock’n’roll, and his band “Confiscated Guns & Subsidized Roses”]
![]() |
Sissypuss:David, my man: how the heck are ya? You look like you have actually slept in the last few weeks.
Axelrod: Yeah, I’m glad I bailed when I did. Valerie Jarrett is still doing the Syd Barrettthing, if you know what I mean, and I think you do. S: Well, she wasout there, even before the Meltdown. But that kind of thing doesn’t just happen. What was your first sign that there was a problem? A: I’d have to point to Sandra Fluke. We had laid set up the play as early as the January GOP debate. But when we handed the ball to Sandra Fluke, it all went sideways. We lost the tempo.S: Limbaugh. . . |
| All he had to do was keep the stonewalling going, and ride out the term. Easy as tears out of Boehner. | A: Yeah, I still haven’t figured out whether Rush deliberately threw out some bait for us, of if he actually screwed up by calling Fluke the word that rhymes with mutt, and then just recovered masterfully. Either way, he’s a genius. [Deep breath] Wow, I can say that now. |
Five Academy Award-Winning Beauties Who Are Moms (Unlike Ashley Judd)
Posted on | April 29, 2012 | 46 Comments
When people think of factors involved in Hollywood success, motherhood probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind.
Despite what the embittered rantings of childless pro-abortion fanatic Ashley Judd might lead you to believe, however, many of the world’s most famous actresses have shown that women can have glamour, a successful movie career, critical acclaim and be a mom, too.
5. MARION COTILLARD — The 36-year-old French actress won the Oscar in 2007 for her portrayal of singer Edith Piaf in La Vie en Rose. She and her boyfriend, actor/director Guillaume Canet, last year had a son named Marcel.
4. KATE WINSLET — After being nominated three previous times — for Titanic (1997), Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind (2004) and Little Children (2006) — Winslet finally claimed her Best Actress award for The Reader in 2007. She had daughter Mia in 2000, with her first husband, director Jim Threapleton. After her divorce from Threapleton, she married director Sam Mendes, with whom she had son Joe in 2003.
3. JULIA ROBERTS — She was first nominated for her role in 1990’s Pretty Woman, but had to wait another decade to win Best Actress honors as Erin Brockovich in 2000. She and her husband, cameraman Daniel Moder, have three children, twins Hazel and Phinnaeus, born in 2004, and son Henry born in 2007.
2. REESE WITHERSPOON — Having gained widespread critical acclaim in Election (1999), Witherspoon won the Oscar for her feisty role as June Carter Cash in the 2005 biopic Walk The Line. She had two children — Ava, born in 1999, and Deacon, born in 2003 — with her first husband, actor Ryan Phillippe. Now 36, Witherspoon recently announced that she is expecting another child with her second husband, agent Jim Toth.
