Consumer Protection Protection as in “Sure would be a shame if you didn’t vote a certain way. . .” protection?

In the first place, the liberals stole the notion of classical liberalism. That, apparently, occurred at the end of the Progressive Era. As the internet is increasingly used to point out what a sad little confidence game these ‘liberals’ are playing, look for them to test a new label in focus groups.
In any case, the modern liberal/Progressive remains a sad by-blow of an intellectual encounter between Rosseau and Marx.
Just keep on pluckin’ that chicken, liberals.

Report: 14-Year-Old Runaway Girl Gets Banged at ‘Occupy’ Protest in Dallas

You call it “statutory rape.” The 99% call it “social justice“:

Dallas Police continue to investigate whether a teenage runaway was sexually assaulted by an adult male at the Occupy Dallas encampment behind City Hall.
A source within the Dallas Police Department who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the ongoing investigation said the girl ran away from home in Garland last month and that she is now refusing to cooperate with investigators. She initially told officers that she had sex with a man in his early twenties and had engaged in sexual activity with several other people.
Some members of the group told CBS 11 the girl identified herself as a 19-year-old and never knew she was 14.

Herman Cain Builds Lead Over Romney, Rick Perry 5th in New CBS/NYT Poll

The big news? This poll was taken Oct. 19-24, entirely after last week’s Vegas debate (Perry’s best performance to date) and covers the period during which the abortion controversy was supposedly (if you believe Karl Rove) destroying the viability of the Cain campaign:

Earlier today, I heard Megyn Kelly discuss this poll on Fox and she felt obliged to point out that Cain and Romney are actually in a statistical tie because of the 4% margin of error. Right: And Rick Perry is in a statistical tie with Michele Bachmann, with Jon Huntsman close behind.

Perry’s effort to revive his campaign has already encountered difficulties. Three Republican governors — Terry Brandstad of Iowa, Bob McDonnell of Virginia and Haley Barbour of Mississippi — are criticizing Rick Perry for playing footsie with Birthers.

It’s a good day to be the Future Ambassador to Vanuatu.

Breakfast With Ehlinger

Ladd is on his way back home, and we staged a coordinated attack on a brace of breakfast samplers at IHOP.

There were no injuries in the attack, and we fought the pancakes to a draw. Then we retreated with only a few weeks damage to our lifespans from all the bacon.

Ladd is truly an excellent American, and it’s great to know that there are a few of his ilk in the struggle against the herd of RINOs out there.

Godspeed, Ladd, and may we cross silverware again in that endless struggle for truth, justice, and decent breakfast.

August Bebel called anti-Semitism the “Socialism of Fools,” and MRC’s Joe Schoffstall had no trouble finding it in the Zuccotti Park mob:

“Israel is white Europe — eastern Europeans — who has [sic] usurped and occupied Arab land, and they have displaced the indigenous Arab Palestinian people at gunpoint. When Israel was founded in 1948 … in 1949, Israel secretly began working on a nuclear … atomic nuclear program to wipe out her neighbors. So the hatred of the Arabs for Israel is understandable. … And I’ll say that the Jews control Wall Street. Google ‘Jewish billionaires.’ Google ‘Jews and the Federal Reserve bank.’ Google ‘Jews and Wall Street.’ America’s finances is [sic] controlled by the Jews. Wall Street, the media, the legal profession — Jewish money is the engine in politics. … The Jews commit more white-collar crime than any other ethnic group on the earth and they go unprosecuted because they can buy their way out of it.”

Scratch an anti-capitalist, and a Jew-hater bleeds.

Cain Seeks to Satisfy Foreign Policy Snobs

Alex Pappas and Jamie Weinstein of the Daily Caller report:

Almost every day, Republican presidential candidate Herman Cain is handed a one-page briefing from his chief foreign policy adviser on news from around the world.
It’s one of several things his campaign says the former Godfather’s Pizza CEO, who has never held elective office before, is now doing to bone up on foreign policy — especially as he faces a big test in November at a GOP debate on national security issues.
“He’s really getting up to speed a lot more so than people give him credit for,” J.D. Gordon, Cain’s foreign policy and national security adviser who prepares the briefings, said in an interview with The Daily Caller on Monday.

When Alex sent me the article this morning, I replied: “Good Lord! A one-page briefing? Just read the NY Times at breakfast!” The article continues:

“I have no idea what Mr. Cain’s views are other than being generally pro-Israel,” said Elliott Abrams, a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations, who served as a deputy national security adviser for President George W. Bush.
“He needs to say a lot more to be a serious candidate for Commander in Chief,” Abrams said. “He has been far too casual about this subject and does not seem to be taking seriously his need to explain his views.”

This is what I’ve previously described as the Cult of Experts, “a widespread attitude within the foreign policy/national security elite that expertise is essential in all such matters.” Expertise being the foreign policy specialist’s stock in trade, he esteems others insofar as they are themselves experts, or else demonstrate a seemly deference to such expertise.

But how’s that workin’ for ya? It was experts like Ken Adelman who assured us Iraq would be a “cakewalk.” And as I’ve pointed out, John McCain brought a lifetime of national-security policy expertise to his 2008 campaign, and what good did it do him, politically?

Nevertheless, the thing is what it is, and Cain must therefore spend time acquiring sufficient awareness of these issues in order not to look foolish during the Nov. 15 CNN debate at sponsored by the Heritage Foundation and AEI. Let’s hope Cain’s briefings include the latest from Vanuatu, “Linchpin of the South Pacific.”

He is categorically against pretty much everything BHO has done, except for greenlighting the snuffing of Osama. Pure, red, foreign policy meat.

Oh, and Rep. West isn’t a fan of #OccupyWallStreet, either. Can’t we all just get along, Rep. West?

Oh no Rep. West is not a 9-9-9 supporter. He wants reform, but more evolution than revolution. I disagree with Rep. West here: we need less taxing power in DC.
