California Workers Laid Off and Their Jobs Shipped to China by Greedy Republican Democrat Jane Harman?
Posted on | October 4, 2010 | 7 Comments
Yeah, this could kind of wreck the class-warfare rhetoric Democrats usually roll out in their election campaigns:
California Democrat Rep. Jane Harman’s family business is laying off American workers – including engineering employees in California — and shifting jobs overseas.
A letter from the human resources director of one Harman company, obtained exclusively by The American Spectator, describes a “permanent” layoff of dozens of California workers that went into effect last week.
“I am writing to inform you that Harman Consumer, Inc. has decided to consolidate their global engineering operations located at 8500 Balboa Boulevard, Northridge, California 91329, to Shenzhen, China,” Sandra Buchanan wrote in the letter dated July 20. “The separation is expected to be on September 30, 2010 and will affect forty-eight (48) employees. . . . The layoffs are expected to be permanent . . . .”
Harman is the third-richest member of Congress, and her net worth increased last year $40 million, according to a study of Federal Election Commission records conducted by The Hill newspaper. . . .
Wonder what Mattie Fein will have to say about this?

That tall-walking Tennessee buckaroo rides hard:
“On April 15, 2009, as the first nationwide wave of Tea Party protests broke out, I wrote: ‘What’s most striking about the tea-party movement is that most of the organizers haven’t ever organized, or even participated, in a protest rally before. General disgust has drawn a lot of people off the sidelines and into the political arena, and they are already planning for political action after today. . . ‘ “
Please, by all means, read the whole thing, but after you do, amble on back over here and let me remind you where I was, and what I said, on April 15, 2009. Read more
Important Points About The ‘One Nation’ Rally Overlooked By Many

- The rally was a modern art statement in litter. Conservatives hate art, which is why they don’t understand the important expression on display.
- The rally was economic stimulus in litter. It was crucial that the attendees generate work for other people. Found in the clutter: a handmade sign “Bite Us, Frédéric Bastiat” (I made that up.)
- It promises to be relatively sane compared to what congressional illegal immigration expert Stephen Colbert will soon unleash:

Liberal Attacks Reporter at Rally, Because Dissent Is the Highest Form of Patriotism

And violence is the new anti-violence:
The reporter, Emily Miller, was first hit from behind while she was taping Rangel as the Harlem congressman glad-handed supporters in front of the Lincoln Memorial. Miss Miller is heard on the video saying, “Please don’t hit me.” The protester proceeds to yell at the reporter, “Well get out of the way! What do you think this is? A–hole.”
Pamela Geller, Undaunted

She vows that we have not heard the last of this, and I know that she can be expected to keep that vow. For Pamela Geller is clearly someone who believes, as I told you:
Victory is the choice we make when we decide that no defeat can make us stop fighting. If you are defeated today, return to the battlefield tomorrow even more determined to prevail. And no matter how often you lose, you can never be defeated so long as you continue the fight.
Go tell her thanks for her courage.
John and Lisa, Sittin’ in a Tree . . .

. . . K-I-S-S-I-N-G!
That’s a link to a June 2009 article pointing out that the downfall of Nevada’s John Ensign resulted in the ascent of South Dakota Sen. John Thune and Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowksi in the GOP hierarchy.
A little birdie — my, how these birdies love to sing! — points out that this seeming coincidence might help answer a question we asked last week: Which Senators Are Protecting Backstabber Lisa Murkowski?
It also seems that others have begun to notice that Thune doesn’t much care for his conservative colleagues:
The other day, Thune went on record dinging Jim DeMint for helping conservatives get elected. Thune also sided with Lisa Murkowski on her keeping her Senate seat.
So here we have two new data points in a scatter-chart, and we are beginning to see a pattern that doesn’t seem purely coincidental. Who is the Palpatine who dreams of exchanging the dignity of a senator for imperial power?
Stay tuned . . .
UPDATE: No one has ever accused Dan Riehl of trying to get a gold star for “Plays Well With Others.”
UPDATE II: Brandon Kiser doesn’t get it:
And it’s not like Thune doesn’t support the tea party Republican candidates across the map. I think it would be fair to say he supports Rand Paul, Ken Buck, Sharon Angle, Christine O’Donnell, Marco Rubio, et al. So what’s the problem?
Well, Brandon, the problem is, this ain’t just about John Thune, OK? Let me ask you to consider what happened in some GOP primaries this year, including some that aren’t on your list. Some people got a wake-up call from the Tea Party movement and some people — including senators who weren’t up for re-election this year — just hit the snooze alarm.
If you’re on the Thune 2012 presidential bandwagon, maybe you need to tell Johnny that he should be smarter about his choice of friends.
My hunch? That particular bandwagon’s heading for a ditch.
How Dare You?

One of the trademark reflexes of organized liberalism is the tendency of its adherents to respond to critics in outraged tones of self-righteous indignation: “How dare you . . .?”
Thus, when it was suggested during the Bush presidency that liberals seemed more concerned with defeating Republicans than defeating terrorists, the response was: How dare you question our patriotism?
Now that Obama is president, and has pursued policies that tend toward the government taking over major industries — auto production, health care, mortgage lending, etc. — critics must watch their words, lest they be met with the liberal response: How dare you call us socialists?
Oh, but we have no need to call names, except to point out by which names your supporters call themselves:
The problems of liberalism in this regard go back many decades, of course. Alger Hiss, Harry Dexter White, John Stewart Service, Henry Wallace: Such well-known examples of the treasonous tendencies of the American Left — its habitual friendliness toward the Soviet enemy — were not merely isolated coincidences of the Cold War. Rule 5 Sunday

Rule 5 Sunday dawns, with a healthy selection of beauty across the spectrum.
For starters, we’ll separate out the topic of Katy Perry getting her Elmo on, or mostly on. SNL’s season opener with Katy Perry was mostly bad. Last night’s was an even worse mis-use of free speech.
- SNL: Kristen Wiig is a comic genius, but even she can’t elevate blowing a whistle via flatus to the level of funny.
- SNL: quit treating your cast like a collection of chamber pots.
- SNL: quit insulting your audience.
- (SNL: Thanks for the Morgan Freeman bit.)
Enough of that rant, on with the Katy Perry: Read more
