Idaho Judge Blames Internet for Rape, Feminists Blame Judge for ‘Rape Culture’

Posted on | February 8, 2017 | Comments Off on Idaho Judge Blames Internet for Rape, Feminists Blame Judge for ‘Rape Culture’

Background: Cody Herrera was 17 when he met a girl who was 14 in November 2014. The girl’s mother found out and warned Herrera to leave her daughter alone, but he continued to pursue her through online communications. In March 2015, the girl let Herrera sneak into her bedroom “ostensibly to watch a movie with her. He began to fondle the girl. She asked him to stop. He then raped her without wearing a condom.” Prosecutors in the case presented evidence that Herrera, now 19, “has fantasized about a 13-year-old girl, watched pornography portraying rape and has had 34 sexual partners.” The judge made national headlines by making celibacy a condition of Herrera’s probation. The Guardian obtained a transcript of Judge Randy Stoker’s remarks at the sentencing hearing and now the case has caused new controversy:

Stoker delivered what amounts to a sermon on modern-day morality in which he connected the 14-year-old victim’s rape to “the social media system”. . . .
Modern-day technology, he added, was at fault.
“I have seen dozens, if not hundreds of sex cases since I’ve been on this bench,” the jurist said. “Our society has come to a point of, I don’t even know how to explain it, you know? I am 66 years of age. When I was 19 years of age, the sexual proclivities of young people wasn’t anything, anything like I see today.
“I think it is a direct consequence of the social media system that we have in this country,” Stoker continued. “I can’t tell you how many times I have seen these cases: ‘How did this happen?’ ‘Well, I met somebody on social media.’”
Stoker conceded that Snapchat, Facebook, Instagram and other sites might not be the direct cause of all the sexual assault cases he has presided over in the deeply conservative Gem State. But he said “the vast majority” of such cases originate online.
“I can’t change that,” he said. “If I had my way, I would eliminate the internet, and we’d all have better lives. But I can’t do that either. It also says something about, I guess, the level of morality in this country. I can’t change morality. People are going to do what they’re going to do.”

This happened in Twin Falls, Idaho, population 45,981. How does a boy in a town that size acquire 34 sexual partners before age 19? Are we talking about teenagers in southern Idaho, or shameless hedonists in San Francisco’s Castro District circa 1979? Didn’t Herrera use social media like Facebook in his promiscuous pursuits? If teenagers are using the Internet to facilitate hook-ups, and if a rape occurs during one of these adolescent rendezvous, and if it turns out the teenage rapist was watching violent porn on the Internet, is the judge sentencing the rapist not allowed to mention this? Like the judge said, he’s seen many cases like this: “‘How did this happen?’ ‘Well, I met somebody on social media.’”

Well, feminist Melissa McEwan doesn’t care about any of that. She has declared that Judge Stoker’s remarks are “rape culture.”

To feminists, of course, everything is “rape culture.” For example, Melissa McEwan’s plumber is “rape culture,” and the election was “rape culture,” and if there is anything that Melissa McEwan dislikes that isn’t “rape culture,” no one can guess what it is.

Transgender ‘Social Contagion’

Posted on | February 8, 2017 | 2 Comments

Rivka Edelman at The Federalist:

In response to the uptick of trans mania, a group of four mothers and one father met at a suburban Starbucks to compare notes on ways to help their children challenge the gender ideology pushed in the media and in the schools.
One mother said these meetings are taking place across the country. Parents are upset. “And it not’s what people think. Day in and day out, that stuff causes people to question their own judgement,” another mother said.
We agreed that most people know how propaganda works in the abstract. Recently many are realizing it is no small thing to force people to accept, repeat out loud, and refer to false facts and absurdities daily.
“It has a psychological effect. It erodes their (children’s) confidence and makes them question themselves,” said one of the parents.
That’s the point. It’s not recommended for raising healthy children. The trendiness leads to some social contagion, which troubles most parents. . . .

Read the whole thing. If you’ve raised children, you know how difficult it is to protect them from media influences and peer pressure.

OK, so what happens when activists seize control of the education establishment and begin exploiting children’s psychological vulnerability? And what if the pro-LGBT indoctrination program (which the schools disguise as “anti-bullying” curriculum) is reinforced my television programming, including shows on PBS, Nickelodeon, Disney, MTV, etc., aimed at audiences of children from toddlers to teenagers?

What if dozens of academic researchers, including Ph.D.’s in psychology and sociology, are part of a government-funded push to encourage homosexuality and “gender non-conforming” behavior among kids? Well, if this were the case, what results could we expect to see?

Answer: Exactly the results that Rivka Edelman is describing.

It is not a paranoid conspiracy theory to suggest that the actual outcomes of institutional processes are intentional. Yet the public education system has developed a clever method of avoiding responsibility: Schools generally claim credit for the success of their students, but blame parents for undesirable outcomes. The valedictorian who goes to Harvard? “Thank a teacher,” as the bumper sticker says, but the drug-addicted dropout? No, blame Mom and Dad for that result. If the taxpayer-funded education system is to be held accountable, citizens cannot permit school bureaucrats get away with this trick. Therefore, if a substantial number of school children begin engaging in bizarre behavior — and transgenderism is certainly bizarre — we must ask, “How is this behavior being promoted and encouraged by the schools?”

The answer may be as simple as this: Schools promote feminist concepts of “gender equality,” an androgynous ideology that is controlling the curriculum, teaching methods and school policies. Teachers discourage girls from acting girlish and punish boys for being boyish.

“Gender is a hierarchical system which maintains the subordination of females as a class to males through force. Gender is a material system of power which uses violence and psychological coercion to exploit female labor, sex, reproduction, emotional support, etc., for the benefit of males. Gender is not natural or voluntary, since a person is not naturally subordinate and no one chooses to be subordinated.”
Rachel Ivey, 2013

“Feminism involves the implicit claim that the prevailing conditions under which women live are unjust and must be changed.”
Carol R. McCann and Seung-Kyung Kim, Feminist Theory Reader: Local and Global Perspectives (2003)

“The patriarchal construction of the difference between masculinity and femininity is the political difference between freedom and subjection.”
Carole Pateman, The Sexual Contract (1988)

“The patriarchal system is preserved, via marriage and the family, through the sexual division of labor and society.”
Zillah Eisenstein, Capitalist Patriarchy and the Case for Socialist Feminism (1979)

Our education system has been hijacked by radical ideology. The success of the feminist project requires the destruction of marriage, religion, capitalism and any other “prevailing conditions” which may involve “the difference between masculinity and femininity.”

Feminists deny that there are naturally any meaningful differences between men and women. It is only the “patriarchal system” of male oppression, by which women are exploited through “violence and psychological coercion,” that makes men and women different, according to feminist theory. Over the past four decades, this radical ideology has become entrenched in academia through departments of Women’s Studies at more than 700  colleges and universities in the United States.

Feminist gender theory — the social construction of the gender binary within the heterosexual matrix — has trickled down from elite university campuses into public school classrooms. In an article last year, I described the consequences of this feminist “success”:

Only if you view the world through the warped lenses of a crypto-Marxist ideology is it possible to see male-female differences as a “system of power” characterized by “violence and psychological coercion.” Yet this bizarre worldview is what inspires the feminist T-shirt slogan “Raise Boys and Girls the Same Way,” which presumes that a gender-free androgynous childhood will eliminate inequality (“the subordination of women as a class”) by eliminating differences between men and women.
Actually, what gender-free childhood will produce is failure.

The “social contagion” of transgenderism described by Rivka Edelman is being encouraged by public school teachers and administrators. Why do you think liberals hate Betsy DeVos so much? Do you think Trump’s new Secretary of Education might put a stop to this? Let’s hope so.

VP Pence Casts Historic Vote to Confirm Betsy DeVos as Secretary of Education

Posted on | February 8, 2017 | 1 Comment

The New York Times:

The Senate confirmed Betsy DeVos on Tuesday as education secretary, approving the embattled nominee only with the help of a historic tiebreaking vote from Vice President Mike Pence.
The 51-to-50 vote elevates Ms. DeVos — a wealthy donor from Michigan who has devoted much of her life to expanding educational choice through charter schools and vouchers, but has limited experience with the public school system — to be steward of the nation’s schools.
Two Republicans voted against Ms. DeVos’s confirmation, a sign that some members of President Trump’s party are willing to go against him, possibly foreshadowing difficulty on some of the president’s more contentious legislative priorities.
It was the first time that a vice president has been summoned to the Capitol to break a tie on a cabinet nomination, according to the Senate historian. Taking the gavel as the vote deadlocked at 50-50, Mr. Pence, a former member of the House, declared his vote for Ms. DeVos before announcing that Mr. Trump’s nominee for education secretary had been confirmed.
The two Republicans who voted against the nominee, Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, announced their opposition to her last week. . . .
For many in the education community, Ms. DeVos’s full-throated support for charter schools and vouchers — which allow students to use taxpayer dollars to pay tuition at private, religious and for-profit schools — is emblematic of a disconnection from the realities of the education system. . . .

(Via Memeorandum.) Who is “the education community”? The bureaucrats and teachers unions and activist groups who want the federal government to impose a left-wing agenda on schools that brainwash children through a compulsory indoctrination program funded by taxpayer money. The government school system is not about teaching kids facts and skills, it’s about promoting atheism, socialism and sexual deviance. Christianity is specifically prohibited from government school classrooms and the curriculum is anti-Christian. The teachers are all corrupt left-wing union thugs who are actively training children to vote Democrat. If you are a Republican parent, your child’s school teacher considers you the enemy, and is teaching your child to hate you.

Donald Trump appointed an Education secretary that “the education community” hates, and let’s hope Secretary DeVos earns their hate.

Notorious Liar @LenaDunham Claims She Can’t Eat Since Trump Got Elected

Posted on | February 7, 2017 | 1 Comment

The most important thing to understand about Lena Dunham is her dishonesty. She wrote a book in which she falsely claimed to have been sexually assaulted by a Republican when she was in college. She refused for months to admit her fabrication, nor did she apologize to the innocent person harmed by her deliberate (and politically motivated) defamation.

Lena Dunham lies routinely and habitually. Slander is her raison d’etre and deceit is her modus operandi. No honest person would willingly associate with Lena Dunham, and only bad people admire Lena Dunham. Therefore, we are not surprised by her latest lie:

Dunham stopped by Howard Stern’s SiriusXM radio show Monday morning and revealed that she has none other than Donald Trump to thank for her slim figure.
“Donald Trump became president and I stopped being able to eat food,” she told Stern after he complimented her look. “Everyone’s been asking like, ‘What have you been doing?’ And I’m like, ‘Try soul-crushing pain and devastation and hopelessness and you, too, will lose weight.’”

(Hat-tip: Hogewash.) “Her slim figure”? Compared to what? Vogue magazine recently posted a 9-minute video interview with Lena Dunham at her Hollywood home (introducing us to her gay personal assistant who takes care of her poodle). Anyone can watch that video and conclude that Lena Dunham hasn’t been doing much time on the treadmill. Or to put it another way, Lena Dunham probably won’t be competing in triathlons anytime soon. She is still pudgy and pear-shaped. Her arms are still flabby and her butt is still wide. If she has lost weight since November, she must have been grossly overweight last year. However, it is not her Pillsbury Doughboy physique that makes Lena Dunham so odious and disreputable. Rather, it is her selfishness and the sadistic cruelty of her deliberate dishonesty. What she did to an innocent man in her 2014 book Not That Kind of Girl was unconscionable, as Michelle Malkin (like Dunham, an Oberlin alumna) explained at length in a 2015 column:

When John Nolte of the conservative website Breitbart investigated, he discovered that Dunham’s description didn’t match up with the real Barry. “In the end, Breitbart News could not find a Republican named Barry who attended Oberlin during Dunham’s time there who came anywhere close to matching her description of him,” Nolte reported. “In fact, we could not find anyone who remembered any Oberlin Republican who matched Dunham’s colorful description.” Wham: “Under scrutiny, Dunham’s rape story didn’t just fall apart; it evaporated into pixie dust and blew away.” Humiliated and facing a litigation nightmare, Random House paid the falsely accused College Republican’s legal fees after his lawyer complained. Stung and exposed, Dunham carped about conservative journalists who refused to cover up the real truth. She nursed her self-inflicted wounds by publishing a self-pitying diatribe on the liberal website Buzzfeed . . .

You can read the whole thing, if you’ve forgotten the sordid details. Someone who did what Lena Dunham did — cruelly defaming an innocent man, then falsely claiming to be the victim of honest journalists who helped clear this man’s name — is not merely untrustworthy, but evil.

What explains the wicked dishonesty of Lena Dunham? Here it is helpful to quote what Camille Paglia wrote about Andrea Dworkin:

Dworkin, like Kate Millet, has turned a garish history of mental instability into feminist grand opera. Dworkin publicly boasts of her bizarre multiple rapes, assaults, beatings, breakdowns and tacky traumas, as if her inability to cope with life were the patriarchy’s fault rather than her own. She pretends to be a daring truth-teller but never mentions her most obvious problem: food. Hence she is a hypocrite. Dworkin’s shrill, kvetching, solipsistic prose has a sloppy, squalling infantilism.
Dworkin, wallowing in misery, is a “type” that I recognize after twenty-two years of teaching. I call her The Girl with the Eternal Cold. This was the pudgy, clumsy, whiny child at summer camp who was always spilling her milk, dropping her lollipop in the dirt, getting a cramp on the hike, a stone in her shoe, a bee in her hair. In college, this type — pasty, bilious, and frumpy — is constantly sick from fall to spring. She coughs and sneezes on everyone, is never prepared with tissue and sits sniffling in class with a roll of toilet paper on her lap. She is the ultimate teacher’s pest, the morose, unlovable child who never got her mama’s approval and therefore demands attention at any price. Dworkin seized on feminism as a mask to conceal her bitterness at this tedious, banal family drama.

This familiar type — “the pudgy, clumsy, whiny child” who carries into adulthood a permanent grudge and seeks to make others suffer for her own self-inflicted misery — uses feminism as a rationale for her own vindictive cruelty, justifying her slander of the innocent. What part of “Thou shalt not bear false witness” does she not understand?

Despite her cruel slander of “Barry” the College Republican, however, Lena Dunham continues to be celebrated by liberals, who are so invested in the Feminist™ brand that they will embrace a purveyor of falsehood who deserves to be condemned and ostracized. Of course, Lena Dunham climbed onto the Women’s March bandwagon, employing first-person plural possessive pronouns in a profoundly dishonest Twitter message.

Lena Dunham is a childless 30-year-old woman who advocates abortion, so that her use of the phrases “our daughters” and “our sons” is a lie.

This phony first-person “our children” is a pet peeve of mine. Feminists who advocate baby-killing claim to care about “our children,” and yet none of them will lift a finger or spend a cent of her own money to help any actual children. Feminists not only hate babies, but they hate families — they hate mothers and fathers — and never miss a chance to condemn marriage as an institution of oppressive heteropatriarchy.

Well, “patriarchy” is just another word for paying the bills, and HBO hasn’t offered me a multimillion-dollar deal to create a series called Lying Feminist Trolls, so paying the bills for “our children” requires me to invoke the Five Most Important Words in the English Language:

HIT THE FREAKING TIP JAR!

Thanks in advance for your support.

Campus Losers Resort to Political Violence

Posted on | February 7, 2017 | 1 Comment

J.D. Tucille writes at Reason magazine:

Last week, anti-fascist protesters showed up in Berkeley, California, to courageously battle the Nazi supporters of alt-right figure Milo Yiannopoulos. Soon after, they likewise put it all on the line to tussle with the right-wing mob supporting radical demagogue Gavin McInnes.
Well, that’s how they imagine it in their fever dreams, anyway. In reality, the Nazis didn’t show up and the protesters themselves were the only totalitarians in sight. The Black Bloc thugs — “about 150 masked agitators who came onto campus and interrupted an otherwise non-violent protest,” says UC-Berkeley — seem to imagine themselves as stars of a Weimar Germany reenactment. . . .
But the anti-fascists couldn’t find any Nazis at Berkeley. So instead “[t]hey shattered the glass of our Amazon Pickup Center, one of the few places Berkeley students can receive packages without fear of them getting stolen. They created a bonfire of trash in the center of the chaos, picked up barricades to drive through the building’s glass walls, set off fireworks, and left a trail of rage-filled destruction in their wake as they stormed the very streets we call home,” in the words of a student who saw a peaceful anti-Trump protest hijacked by visitors from 1930.

Meanwhile, Lauren Cooley writes at Campus Reform:

The “Knights for Socialism” group at the University of Central Florida (UCF) held a workshop Sunday to teach left-wing students how to “BASH THE FASH” with a “Leftist Fight Club” open to everyone but Republicans.
“In response to the record number of hate crimes against Latinxs, Immigrants, Muslims, Women, the LGBTQIA+ community, Jews, African Americans and other minorities since the rise of Donald Trump and other Alt-Right Neo-Nazis, Knights for Socialism has decided to host a series of self-defense clinics for anyone that wants to learn how to BASH THE FASH,” asserts the Facebook event page for “Leftist Fight Club: The Rumbles at Lake Claire.”
“This event is open to everyone and anyone, EXCEPT REPUBLICANS.”
The description explains that a local amateur boxer was on hand to teach basic hand-to-hand combat techniques at the self-defense clinic, in order to help the socialist students better protect themselves from potential hate crimes performed by those sympathetic to “Donald Trump and other Alt-Right Neo-Nazis.”

Students pursuing fantasies of heroic “anti-fascist” violence are victims of a failing education system, I explained in my column Monday:

The idea that Republicans are Nazis from whom students need protection is widespread in academia, where the vast majority of professors are Democrats, and administrators impose “safe spaces” and “trigger warnings” to stifle dissent against the prevailing left-wing orthodoxy. (See “The Cult of Social Justice,” Dec. 21, 2015.) Hillary Clinton’s defeat last November was a profound shock to many inside the campus bubble. Yale University canceled exams for students “traumatized” by the election. The University of Massachusetts offered “grief counseling” to students, with one official saying those with “marginalized identities” had suffered most from the campaign. At Virginia Tech the morning after the election, officials sent an email to students “waking up with fear, anxiety, concern, questions, and confusion among many other emotions,” directing them to campus services offering “support.” Did any universities offer counseling and support to Republican students after Mitt Romney lost in 2012? Of course not.
On the 21st-century campus, it’s conservatives who are truly “marginalized,” but nobody offers a “trigger warning” before discussing Keynesian economics in class, and there are no “safe spaces” for, say, a Christian student who wishes to defend Bible-based morality. . . .

Patriots 34, Stereotypes 28

Posted on | February 6, 2017 | 1 Comment

Julian Edelman (left), Danny Amendola (center) and Chris Hogan (right).

They’re calling it the greatest Super Bowl in history, and not because of Lady Gaga dancing in her sequin-covered panties at halftime.

No, it was because the Patriots staged the greatest comeback ever witnessed, as Tom Brady threw for a record 466 yards to win the first Super Bowl ever decided in overtime, and broke my heart. Being a native of Atlanta, this Super Bowl defeat was hard one for me, especially after the University of Alabama lost the national championship.

You know who else lost Sunday? Racial stereotypes:

So there the Patriots were, playing in the Super Bowl, trailing Atlanta by 25 points, and history said there was no chance they could win. As a Falcons fan, this was what I was happy to believe, but for some reason, the Patriots didn’t get the memo. Instead, the team that had rejected stereotypes decided to make their own history. It was a well-balanced team effort. Running back James White was New England’s leading receiver, but his 14 catches accounted for only 110 yards of the 466 yards that Brady passed for Sunday, and the three white receivers combined for 17 catches and 222 yards, including [Danny] Amendola’s fourth-quarter TD catch that narrowed the score to 28–20 with just under 6 minutes left to play. Key to that drive was [Julian] Edelman’s miraculous catch of a tipped pass in the middle of three Falcon defenders.
That catch was replayed from every angle and, no matter how much I wanted it to be incomplete, there was no doubt: The white boy caught it. That was when I (and every other Atlanta fan) started cussing at our TVs. Could that blankety-blank Brady pull a blanking miracle out of his blank?
Well, he did it, didn’t he? And it was Amendola who caught the 2-point conversion pass that tied the score and, for the first time in Super Bowl history, we went to overtime. Blank blank blankety-blank!
New England’s final 75-yard overtime touchdown drive included catches by Amendola (14 yards and a first down at the Patriots’ 45), [Chris] Hogan (18 yards and a first down at Atlanta’s 37) and 15 yards to Edelman for a first down at the Falcon 25. That’s three catches for 47 yards and — blankety blank! — I was screaming at my TV, “What the blank is it with all these blanking white guys?” What kind of world are we living in, when Atlanta’s getting beat by a blankety-blank named Edelman and a blanking lacrosse player from Ramapo, N.J.? . . .

Read the whole thing at The Patriarch Tree. Like other Falcon fans, I’m still trying to figure out how Russians hacked Atlanta’s defense . . .
