Family Terrorized as Michigan Teachers Support Colleague Who Molested Boy

Former middle-school teacher Neal Erickson, 38, pleaded guilty in May to having sex with a boy beginning in 2006 — when the boy was a 14-year-old eighth-grader — until 2009. His fellow teachers in Ogemaw County, Michigan, supported Erickson, writing letters to the judge asking for a lenient sentence. Any parent would be horrified by the sentiments expressed, for example, by Rose City teacher Sally Campbell:

“Neal made a mistake. He allowed a mutual friendship to develop into much more. He realized his mistake and ended it years before someone anonymously sent something to the authorities which began this legal process. . . . Please also consider that this was a one-time relationship with only one student and ended long before being found out. Both parties have gone on with their lives.”

He molested a 14-year-old boy, ma’am. To call this “a one-time relationship” — words fail. A relationship? A middle-school teacher and a 14-year-old boy in a “relationship”? Are you insane?

The parents of the victim in this case were outraged to see Erickson’s fellow teachers supporting this confessed criminal pervert, whose molestation of their son caused horrible problems:

The victim’s mother also spoke prior to sentencing, telling Erickson he violated her son and caused a rift in the family. She said the family appeared happy on the outside, but on the inside, the home was a “battle zone.”
“We couldn’t figure out why (the victim) hated us,” she said. “He went after his father. There were physical fights.” . . .
“You were his teacher,” she said. “You were his mentor. You were his friend. And you violated him.”
She added the victim kept the sexual encounters a secret and suffered because of it.
“He kept all of this a secret, and he went through emotional pains,” she said.

Permit me to digress: Do you think there might be . . . oh, I don’t know, an agenda involved here? Do you think Neal Erickson’s fellow teachers would have supported him like this if he had carried on a secret three-year sexual affair with an underaged girl? I think not.

Because it was a gay thing, see, Neal Erickson has “rights,” just like Kaitlyn Hunt has a “right” to have lesbian sex with a 14-year-old.

Nobody in the gay-rights movement or the educational establishment wants to admit that this is what is going on, that they are making excuses for gay people to have sex with minors, but that’s what it’s really about. It’s a good thing Neal Erickson isn’t a Catholic priest, or else this might be an actual scandal. But I digress . . .

Thank God, Circuit Court Judge Michael Baumgartner disregarded the pleas for leniency and imposed a 15-30-year sentence:

After making a decision on the sentencing, Baumgartner said he could not believe people were supporting Erickson after the issue came to light.
“I’m appalled and ashamed that the community could rally around, in this case, you,” he said.
“What you did was a jab in the eye with a sharp stick to every parent who trusts a teacher,” Baumgartner added.

The family of the victim has demanded that the teachers who supported criminal pervert Neal Erickson be fired, and have begun a petition drive to recall school board members who supported the criminal pervert. And guess what happened next?

A garage fire at John and Lori Janczewski’s house on Grandjean Road near Rose City destroyed the couple’s garage and melted the siding on their home early Saturday morning.
Lt. Melvin Matthews, post commander for the Michigan State Police Post in West Branch, said the fire is being ruled as arson. He said evidence gathered at the scene is being analyzed by the MSP crime lab, and new leads gathered since the incident occurred are being investigated.
The Janczewskis believe it was someone responding to their outspokenness against several West Branch-Rose City teachers and a board member, who they said publicly supported Neal Erickson, a former WB-RC teacher who recently pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the Janczewski’s son. . . .
John Janczewski said he doesn’t understand why someone would do something like this to his family.
“We don’t deserve this,” he said in tears. “We’re not a bad family. We’ve done nothing but stand up for our son, the victim. They could have killed my whole family. Whoever’s done this has no remorse. They have no soul.”
John Janczewski said he and his wife do not plan to stop. They are currently circulating petitions for the recall of WB-RC board member Mike Eagan.
“Whoever’s done this, we’re not going to quit,” he said. “We’re not giving up. We’re going to continue to fight, until the end.”

School teachers who are insane enough to support a criminal pervert are insane enough to commit any crime themselves.

Erica Ritz told the Janszewski family’s story Monday at The Blaze.

It’s time to wake up, America: Our country is now so close to the gates of Hell you can feel the heat and smell the brimstone.

  1. Neal Erickson was a former President of the Michigan Educational Association (the teachers union). Not sure if that has anything to do with it, since there were a lot of teachers who didn’t support him and don’t want these people back in the classroom alongside them.

    Just food for thought.

Also, the school board voted to keep the teachers on staff. And parents are pulling students from the district because of what these teachers did. 35 Students have been transferred to a charter school in a neighboring town and another 25 are on a waiting list to get in. Since the decision to retain the teachers was made, more parents have pledged to remove their children. The neighboring charter school has stated that they only need 40 more students (100 total) from the West Branch School District to open up a charter school in Rose City.

West Branch School District will lost between 7-8 thousand dollars for every student who leaves.

  2. Note to Sally: grabbing a Pepsi from the cooler instead of a Diet Pepsi is a mistake. Molesting children is willful behavior your argument is as empty as your soul.

  3. The board chose to keep the teachers because the teachers were threatening to sue the county into bankruptcy if they were fired. Classy.

However, If the charter school (Charleton Heston Academy) opens up a branch in Rose City, I suspect that all bets will be off. The West Branch School District could lose a lot more than if they were sued.

  4. There is and should be such a thing as loyalty. These people had history with this fellow Erickson. I would not blame them for remaining his friend, but an aspect of being a friend is reflecting reality back at people, and moral reality more than anything else.

Sentencing incorporates some stereotyped practice and judgment calls, so there is room for people to offer varying opinions. Believing that surety and celerity of punishment is more important than severity, some of us are skeptical of long multi-year sentences in all but odd cases. That having been said..

There are nine letters asking for leniency. One is from the man’s wife (also a teacher there) and eight others are from other teachers (all female). The letters are here:

    http://wbrcteachers.blogspot.com/

There is a problem accessing the pdf file to one of the nine.

Of the eight you can read, one is willing to use the term “wrong”, one is willing to use the term “criminal offense”, and one is willing to use the term “illegal”. The other five hew strictly to the sanitizing terms of the therapeutic mentality (“poor decisions” &c.).

Only three of the eight even address in passing considerations the judge would have to take into account in composing a sentence, and only one of the three offers an argument rather than a wish. (That would be the Huber letter, and no she does not make a habit of using conventional moral language).

The verbal blancmange in these letters is gag inducing.

What distresses you about this is the anxiety that these women are perfectly unremarkable in the social circles in which they run – in the schools, in the neighborhood, and in and amongst the denizens of this nation’s teachers’ colleges. You can can them, but how much you want to bet there are three dozen other salaried employees at that school who think just like them?

  5. When we were younger the unions and mafia were synonymous. Lane Kirkland and Jimmy Hoffa come to mind.

  6. Any pervert who isn’t a Catholic priest will get a pass because of symbolism. By the way, the research shows that a public school teacher is more likely to be a child molester than a Catholic priest is, and female teachers are almost as likely as male teachers to molest children.

We have to actually do research on the obvious now because so many people have been brainwashed to believe Christendom, specifically patriarchy, is “the” single greatest threat to children in America. You don’t get more patriarchal than a Catholic priest. Trust me, when they smear the Catholic priesthood, it’s because they hate patriarchy. They hate manhood. All manhood. The Catholic priesthood is a symbol of patriarchy, so they’re the ones who get the big headlines when they do this horrific thing.

“We couldn’t figure out why (the victim) hated us,” she said. “He went after his father. There were physical fights.”

How better to get kids to hate patriarchy than to make them fear and hate their fathers, whom they trust to protect them, by sodomizing them? The homosexual movement is such a tool.

  7. I read the letters 4 days ago. I threw up in the back of my mouth. The most vile one actually came from his wife. You want to give her some sympathy, because she’s the wife…but not after that.

  8. I would quibble that I see the media bashing Orthodox, Baptist, and other Christian priests all the time– it’s not so much anti-Catholic as it is “boo those Christ-bags and their sky fairy they worship” tropes

  9. There you go, h8er. There’s no fundamental difference between “Hey, I wanted a Diet!” and “Hey, is that my penis in your anus?”

  10. Gay people in and of themselves don’t have anything to do with pedophilia– it’s the organized left-wing / Marxist movement related to them that does. It’s important to draw a distinction between people that happen to be gay and just are living their lives as normal and the Queer Movement Inc. left-wing political nuts.

Teacher’s unions are despicable organizations, but your randomly picked middle-American teacher from a middle American high school is probably going to be some normal father with normal kids that just wants to do a good job. Same as how political musician celebrity groups are insane, but your randomly picked local singer/guitarist at some middle-American county fair playing George Strait covers is barely related at all.

    You know?

  11. “As humans we are all perceptible to making bad decisions”?!?!?!

    God, these people are delusional!

  12. Funny thing, he’s already been judged. That trial thingy, remember? So now merely agreeing with the outcome of Due Process is a hate crime.

  13. The best part was when she said that the victim wasn’t damaged by her husband’s actions. You know, the repeated rapes and all. Yeah, that has NO effect on a 13 year old boy. NONE. And I’m sure the fact that this scumbag threatened to have the victim’s mother fired from her job if he told anyone, had no effect either.

    What a bitch.

  14. When Emerson wrote, “If I had to choose between betraying a friend and betraying my country, I hope I would have the courage to betray my country” you’ll note he did not write, “If I had to choose between betraying a friend with his dick up a twelve year old…”

Personal loyalty has to have limits.
