Former middle-school teacher Neal Erickson, 38, pleaded guilty in May to having sex with a boy beginning in 2006 — when the boy was a 14-year-old eighth-grader — until 2009. His fellow teachers in Ogemaw County, Michigan, supported Erickson, writing letters to the judge asking for a lenient sentence. Any parent would be horrified by the sentiments expressed, for example, by Rose City teacher Sally Campbell:
“Neal made a mistake. He allowed a mutual friendship to develop into much more. He realized his mistake and ended it years before someone anonymously sent something to the authorities which began this legal process. . . . Please also consider that this was a one-time relationship with only one student and ended long before being found out. Both parties have gone on with their lives.”
He molested a 14-year-old boy, ma’am. To call this “a one-time relationship” — words fail. A relationship? A middle-school teacher and a 14-year-old boy in a “relationship”? Are you insane?
The parents of the victim in this case were outraged to see Erickson’s fellow teachers supporting this confessed criminal pervert, whose molestation of their son caused horrible problems:
The victim’s mother also spoke prior to sentencing, telling Erickson he violated her son and caused a rift in the family. She said the family appeared happy on the outside, but on the inside, the home was a “battle zone.”
“We couldn’t figure out why (the victim) hated us,” she said. “He went after his father. There were physical fights.” . . .
“You were his teacher,” she said. “You were his mentor. You were his friend. And you violated him.”
She added the victim kept the sexual encounters a secret and suffered because of it.
“He kept all of this a secret, and he went through emotional pains,” she said.
Permit me to digress: Do you think there might be . . . oh, I don’t know, an agenda involved here? Do you think Neal Erickson’s fellow teachers would have supported him like this if he had carried on a secret three-year sexual affair with an underaged girl? I think not.
Because it was a gay thing, see, Neal Erickson has “rights,” just like Kaitlyn Hunt has a “right” to have lesbian sex with a 14-year-old.
Nobody in the gay-rights movement or the educational establishment wants to admit that this is what is going on, that they are making excuses for gay people to have sex with minors, but that’s what it’s really about. It’s a good thing Neal Erickson isn’t a Catholic priest, or else this might be an actual scandal. But I digress . . .
Thank God, Circuit Court Judge Michael Baumgartner disregarded the pleas for leniency and imposed a 15-30-year sentence:
After making a decision on the sentencing, Baumgartner said he could not believe people were supporting Erickson after the issue came to light.
“I’m appalled and ashamed that the community could rally around, in this case, you,” he said.
“What you did was a jab in the eye with a sharp stick to every parent who trusts a teacher,” Baumgartner added.
The family of the victim has demanded that the teachers who supported criminal pervert Neal Erickson be fired, and have begun a petition drive to recall school board members who supported the criminal pervert. And guess what happened next?
A garage fire at John and Lori Janczewski’s house on Grandjean Road near Rose City destroyed the couple’s garage and melted the siding on their home early Saturday morning.
Lt. Melvin Matthews, post commander for the Michigan State Police Post in West Branch, said the fire is being ruled as arson. He said evidence gathered at the scene is being analyzed by the MSP crime lab, and new leads gathered since the incident occurred are being investigated.
The Janczewskis believe it was someone responding to their outspokenness against several West Branch-Rose City teachers and a board member, who they said publicly supported Neal Erickson, a former WB-RC teacher who recently pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the Janczewski’s son. . . .
John Janczewski said he doesn’t understand why someone would do something like this to his family.
“We don’t deserve this,” he said in tears. “We’re not a bad family. We’ve done nothing but stand up for our son, the victim. They could have killed my whole family. Whoever’s done this has no remorse. They have no soul.”
John Janczewski said he and his wife do not plan to stop. They are currently circulating petitions for the recall of WB-RC board member Mike Eagan.
“Whoever’s done this, we’re not going to quit,” he said. “We’re not giving up. We’re going to continue to fight, until the end.”
School teachers who are insane enough to support a criminal pervert are insane enough to commit any crime themselves.
Erica Ritz told the Janszewski family’s story Monday at The Blaze.
It’s time to wake up, America: Our country is now so close to the gates of Hell you can feel the heat and smell the brimstone.
I used to say things like that when accosted by Christians. As Mm says, you strike me as thoughtful, intelligent, and gifted with a loving heart. But somewhere you went wrong, as I did. You’re smart enough to appreciate GK Chesterton, whom I credit with saving my life. I suggest his book Orthodoxy. (dont know how to underline, sorry)
Because, by definition (to a leftist), anybody who disagrees is Evil.
This is true for all Ideologues – the ‘nature of the beast’ and all that.
Proud to belong to one of the two universally hated groups: the Chosen People, and the Catholic Church.
I don’t think liberals, conservatives or libertarians are evil at all. But I do think progressives are. They ARE a cult. There is no other way to describe them. And they engage in some of the most despicable behavior that I have ever witnessed.
ZING!
You mean: ‘I don’t speak, read, or write Evil’. FTFY.
Heh.
What he said!.
-Conservatives are not Ideologues. As Russell Kirk wrote:
-There are Libertarians and libertarians – the former being Ideologues, the latter not. Please see:

And you have yet to prove he doesn’t.
I’m an agnostic and the hateful arrogance of atheists is astonishing. Considering the ocean of knowledge that humans don’t have and will never have, it is simply confounding that people like you could lay claim to the definitive answer that God does not exist.
At least Christians openly admit their faith is FAITH. Atheists claim that a lack of evidence is “evidence”. You people are ridiculous.
And I notice you guys never seem to go after Muslims. Why is that? Why do you only go after Christians so publicly? Why aren’t you on Muslim boards? I mean, since we’re being consistent here.
And speaking of Muslims, why don’t gay activists go after Muslims? Cause lets face it, Christians are just against gay marriage. Muslims want to kill you. Why aren’t you doing anything about that?
Chickenshit much?
While I am currently a member of neither [Fallen Catholic, 1st Class], I believe in the One God, maker of Heaven and Earth and all that is Seen and Unseen, and I consider myself a warrior of St. Michael The Archangel.
Yes, but it seems to me that the crux of the matter is that pederasty is a sin, not merely something I find repulsive. Hence the digression….
“Your god has yet to materialize….” What about in the Credo, where it says, “Et homo factus est.?” (Yes, Im trying to be funny)
It hurts me to hear you say that (the fallen part.) You have no idea.
I will first address the muslin issue: Simply because there are no muslims in this conversations, but notice how I said “theism” and “religion” many times; it encompasis all religions. Besides muslim belief is very close to christian, they just do not believe Jesus was the son of god just another prophet. Moving along…
Now for my arrogance to continue I will show you how atheism is not at all a religion, but a rejection to religious principles:
Let us look at the definition of religion:
The belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, esp. a personal God or gods: ideas about the relationship between science and religion.
-A particular system of faith and worship.
-A pursuit or interest to which someone ascribed supreme importance.
Now we can discuss each variation. First off, atheism by definition is the lack of belief in theism. We are simply stating that we are skeptic or in disbelief of theistic claims (for whatever reason). Atheism is not claiming anything. It is only there because theistic claims exist. It doesn’t necessarily mean we believe something else. Atheism is aimed at only one thing, Theism.
Second definition. Atheism isn’t a faith because faith is not needed for the opposite of something that has not yet been proven. In other words, we do not have to have faith in a negative. Atheists do not worship any form of a deity. Atheism alone does not have any principles, it doesn’t claim anything. It is simply a rejection to theistic principles.
Third definition: Since atheism isn’t a pursuit or an interest, it can’t be considered a religion. When an atheist makes a criticism of theistic claims, they aren’t interested/pursuing atheism; they are pointing out a fallacy of theism.
The classic line is:
“Republicans think Democrats are wrong; Democrats think Republicans are evil.”
Hmmmmm. I guess so…..as in Hyek’s Road to Serfdom. Something about new ideas born in laboratories and lecture halls, versus tradition born in the crucible of experience. Or as my hero GKC said, “most new ideas are just old mistakes.” In any case, let us unite and slay the dragon. Afterward, we can fall on each other if it seems appropriate.
The problem with brusselsjournal and other such commentors is this= The general fact that sex is more and more decoupled from love is frustrating and sad, a failure of modern progressive society versus past, religious society. BUT the way to fight this social trend is NOT to point to unmarried straight people that try and fail to get serious relationships, gay people, younger people that are peer pressured into things, and so on by screaming at them– “I condemn you to hell, vile sinner! You all are evil! I hope you enjoy your stay in hell!”– as is done here and other websites.
I would say, just from my own specific background as a college student, the fact that the standard response by college conservatives to people deeply peer pressured into the binge drinking / partying culture is words of total hatred. Saying “You’re evil and disgusting– and I condemn you to hell” happens, rather than a more nuanced “There’s a better way and I will help you to get to it” understanding commentary.
It seems like a lot of conservative people (particularly at the college level) started reading John 8:7 but stopped midway. They think that Jesus’ response was to happily stone the adulterer while also calling out to his follows to join him– they think Jesus would be making sure that they all understand only some people are sinners, and the non-sinners are a superior class of people.blessed in God eyes.
Oh yes. The awful, terrible, discriminatory TEXAS!!!! As opposed to the bastion of tolerance that is…say…New York?

God, you’re such an easy mark.
Christians havent cornered the market on hypocrisy. If History embarrasses anyone, it embarrasses humanists.
link? I don’t consider myself a humanist, for I have yet to know their principles.
I don’t have a problem with people’s theistic beliefs, I have a problem with people using their theistic beliefs to justify their agenda. I wouldn’t be speaking if people knelt in silence. I do not mean complete silence, I am speaking of what they believe their god wants.
Well than you deserve a “lol”.
ARE YOU ABLE TO STICK TO THE COMMENT ON THE THREAD THAT I AM REBUTTING?idiot.
“I would say from…my own background as a college student…”
I remember when I was in college (Bard. I flunked out. Three times.) I was a lib then. BTW, can you say, “Straw man?”
Well then maybe eventually I’ll get to your perverse ways. ^.^
Bullshit, utter bullshit. You have crossed over into being an apologist and an assclown.
For every homosexual murdered for their choice of lifestyle, thousands of Christians have been killed for their belief by God haters like you.
You are obviously a hermaphroditic troglodyte, if not physically then in spirit. Go fuck yourself and stop polluting this place of exchanging conservative thought.
1. Bullshit. Atheists never ridicule Muslims. They ALWAYS go after Christians. They never protest in Deerborn, Michigan. They ALWAYS protest at Catholic events. They specifically target Christians. They never debate Imams. Always Christians. Again, they are never on board arguing with Muslims, only Christians. You are so full of shit.
2. I never claimed atheism was a religion, so everything you just said was a complete waste of time. I said you had no proof that God didn’t exist. I have no idea why you wrote any of that, unless you like reading it out loud and listening to the sound of your own voice. In which case, I was right. You ARE arrogant.
3. I noticed that you didn’t address why gay activists won’t openly criticize Muslims for their hatred of gays. And their internal desire to kill all the gays. What do you plan to do about the Muslims and their Sharia? The Sharia that says to kill all the gays?
Sorry to hear you were discriminated against. Gay kids are getting bullied too, I am not trying to say who had the worst of it. I don’t want anybody to have to be a victim of bullying. I don’t think anyone should be murdered based on religious beliefs, but I do not think religious beliefs should be a deciding factor of society.
Soul-less spawn of Satan.
What ‘straw man’? Just telling it like it is.
To be honest, I’m beyond tired having to deal with online conservatives that think that just because people are black, gay, Jewish, etc that it automatically means that they’re beyond any sense of being reached and are just all to be written off.
Especially the ” homosexuals are pedophiles”, “blacks are criminals”, “Jews are stingy with money”, etc lines that I keep getting fed from conservatives on websites like these. I probably should be less nice than I am.
Given the enormous economic turmoil under the Obama Presidency, with foreign policy set up on “lead from behind” mode, NOW is the moment for conservatives as a movement to start aggressively, thoughtfully, and intelligently going to gays, blacks, Jews, and other such groups that have been written off and for conservatives to proudly proclaim muscular national defense with free-market capitalism.
They can keep wearing the “gays are pedophiles”, “blacks are criminals”, etc hair shirt if they want, but it’s worse than a crime to do so. It’s a failure of opportunity.
Marlon Brando, Eva Marie Saint, Rod Steiger, and Lee J. Cobb as Johnny Friendly. The bastige was Michael Keaton and I think Johnny Dangerously was the name of the movie.
No such thing as orientation. Show where science has discoved the gay gene. No proof. Now go back to contributing to the Muslim Brotherhood so they can continue burning Christian churches and slaying Christians in the street.
Assclown.
As you burned their church down upon them.
wow. are you fucking serious!?!
i don’t want to live on this planet anymore
Your facts are incorrect sir. Um, atheists as well as homosexuals were killed all the time. I honestly don’t care of the numbers on either side. I know they were. The only difference is homosexuals didn’t choose their orientation; Christians chose their belief and atheists rejected it ^.^. That was a horrible insult, try again.
Thanks for telling it like it is. And if you’re beyond tired now, just imagine how you’ll be in 35 years. If you dont see the straw man, he’s the one w/o a brain.
…I’ve never burned a church. Nor will I. I don’t care if you worship, just don’t bring it to the state.
Thanks, bro…
And potential Ambassador to the Holy See if I win in 2016!
“Link?”
Wait…It was here a minute ago…seems to have gone missing…
Yep; Shut those damn theists up. How DARE they express their opinions.
Fascist.
I think he does. I find Bob more religious and Catholic than most who trumpet their status as a Catholic to the world.
Science has yet to prove many things. It seems that is the same argument with every single person I have encountered who is bigoted towards homosexuality. What we do have, is that it occurs in nature. This gives rise to the notion that it is natural and cannot be changed. For instance dolphins have life long homosexual partners. I would argue against muslims as well, you both are no different.
I am going to an attempt an insult here… nah, idc.
Given that younger Republicans are open to marrying / having children with people of different races in their own lives, are supportive of gay friends / family, are happy with being co-workers / classmates / friends with people of other religions, and so on while also being strongly supportive of free market capitalism… I don’t think I’ll be frustrated very much longer. The “blacks are criminals” / “gays are pedophiles” / “jews are stingy” / etc wing of the party is getting cast off like a husk. I just wish it was faster.
There will never be something as simple as a ‘gay gene’ the same way that here’s no gene that makes someone have dark skin– it’s a combination of a suite of genes, the situation an embryo is exposed to, the situation a fetus experiences, and other things in combination.
Can’t you make the brine out of kosher salt, two birds / one stone?
/ nit-picking
When did I say anything about their opinions? Obviously they aren’t following their own because they are getting them from a book. Let me clarify: I do not want the BIBLE in government. Separation of church and state. Here we go… lol.
Slave of a bronze aged book who is unable to think for himself. =] How was that one?
oh well. Lol.
