Family Terrorized as Michigan Teachers Support Colleague Who Molested Boy

Former middle-school teacher Neal Erickson, 38, pleaded guilty in May to having sex with a boy beginning in 2006 — when the boy was a 14-year-old eighth-grader — until 2009. His fellow teachers in Ogemaw County, Michigan, supported Erickson, writing letters to the judge asking for a lenient sentence. Any parent would be horrified by the sentiments expressed, for example, by Rose City teacher Sally Campbell:

“Neal made a mistake. He allowed a mutual friendship to develop into much more. He realized his mistake and ended it years before someone anonymously sent something to the authorities which began this legal process. . . . Please also consider that this was a one-time relationship with only one student and ended long before being found out. Both parties have gone on with their lives.”

He molested a 14-year-old boy, ma’am. To call this “a one-time relationship” — words fail. A relationship? A middle-school teacher and a 14-year-old boy in a “relationship”? Are you insane?

The parents of the victim in this case were outraged to see Erickson’s fellow teachers supporting this confessed criminal pervert, whose molestation of their son caused horrible problems:

The victim’s mother also spoke prior to sentencing, telling Erickson he violated her son and caused a rift in the family. She said the family appeared happy on the outside, but on the inside, the home was a “battle zone.”
“We couldn’t figure out why (the victim) hated us,” she said. “He went after his father. There were physical fights.” . . .
“You were his teacher,” she said. “You were his mentor. You were his friend. And you violated him.”
She added the victim kept the sexual encounters a secret and suffered because of it.
“He kept all of this a secret, and he went through emotional pains,” she said.

Permit me to digress: Do you think there might be . . . oh, I don’t know, an agenda involved here? Do you think Neal Erickson’s fellow teachers would have supported him like this if he had carried on a secret three-year sexual affair with an underaged girl? I think not.

Because it was a gay thing, see, Neal Erickson has “rights,” just like Kaitlyn Hunt has a “right” to have lesbian sex with a 14-year-old.

Nobody in the gay-rights movement or the educational establishment wants to admit that this is what is going on, that they are making excuses for gay people to have sex with minors, but that’s what it’s really about. It’s a good thing Neal Erickson isn’t a Catholic priest, or else this might be an actual scandal. But I digress . . .

Thank God, Circuit Court Judge Michael Baumgartner disregarded the pleas for leniency and imposed a 15-30-year sentence:

After making a decision on the sentencing, Baumgartner said he could not believe people were supporting Erickson after the issue came to light.
“I’m appalled and ashamed that the community could rally around, in this case, you,” he said.
“What you did was a jab in the eye with a sharp stick to every parent who trusts a teacher,” Baumgartner added.

The family of the victim has demanded that the teachers who supported criminal pervert Neal Erickson be fired, and have begun a petition drive to recall school board members who supported the criminal pervert. And guess what happened next?

A garage fire at John and Lori Janczewski’s house on Grandjean Road near Rose City destroyed the couple’s garage and melted the siding on their home early Saturday morning.
Lt. Melvin Matthews, post commander for the Michigan State Police Post in West Branch, said the fire is being ruled as arson. He said evidence gathered at the scene is being analyzed by the MSP crime lab, and new leads gathered since the incident occurred are being investigated.
The Janczewskis believe it was someone responding to their outspokenness against several West Branch-Rose City teachers and a board member, who they said publicly supported Neal Erickson, a former WB-RC teacher who recently pleaded guilty to first-degree criminal sexual conduct against the Janczewski’s son. . . .
John Janczewski said he doesn’t understand why someone would do something like this to his family.
“We don’t deserve this,” he said in tears. “We’re not a bad family. We’ve done nothing but stand up for our son, the victim. They could have killed my whole family. Whoever’s done this has no remorse. They have no soul.”
John Janczewski said he and his wife do not plan to stop. They are currently circulating petitions for the recall of WB-RC board member Mike Eagan.
“Whoever’s done this, we’re not going to quit,” he said. “We’re not giving up. We’re going to continue to fight, until the end.”

School teachers who are insane enough to support a criminal pervert are insane enough to commit any crime themselves.

Erica Ritz told the Janszewski family’s story Monday at The Blaze.

It’s time to wake up, America: Our country is now so close to the gates of Hell you can feel the heat and smell the brimstone.

  1. Suppose we can measure the causes of homosexuality, and it’s 20% genes, 20% exposure to things in the womb, 30% exposure to things as a pre-elementary school kid, and 30% from personal choice done as an adult. The exact numbers may vary a bit but the division will likely be something like that.

In that case, yes, people are not born gay per se… but can you really apply a blanket condemnation to gay people given that a)they don’t choose their environment in the womb, b)they don’t choose their parents, c)they don’t choose their environment as young children, and d)they don’t choose their decisions as children (they don’t know any better)? It’s illogical.

I suppose… one may say that person X is an alcoholic and should drink less, but you can’t “dislike” / “condemn” person X if they were born to alcoholic parents with genetic markers for addiction as well as a poisonous, binge drinking fueled environment around person X’s childhood. You would say “Person X, don’t choose to drink as much” but not “Person X, you are awful and I condemn you.”

I don’t think you’re off base for saying that people aren’t totally born gay per se. The scientific articles that I’ve read have stated that it’s not so much that people are genetically programmed, but it’s like there are multiple causes. It’s like I said above. One can’t really ‘condemn’ someone under those circumstances.

  2. When it comes to “Anonymous”, you see on these ‘gray sites’ all kinds of avocation for pedophilia, murder, rape, and other such horribles…

The internet is quite a Wild West

  3. Let me create a situation for you:

    It is 1960.
There is a guy who is afraid to tell anyone who he is because of the fear that people will judge him and reject him. He is afraid if he conveys this secret they will stop loving him, speaking with him, he will be an outcast. He has one secret. He doesn’t tell his secret to his family, his friends, his colleagues, his therapist, his dentist, or his doctor. He knows there is a great potential for him to be beaten or killed. Finally, one day this man stumbles into a street where he hears music playing and men laughing with joy. He draws closer, the voices seem to be only men. He cautiously approaches and opens the door to the building. He is surprised to see men; men holding hands and some kissing, others playing pool. His fears of people judging him and rejecting him evaporate, he feels at home.

What I have described here is the events and fear that homosexuals still have today. Homosexuals are not bullies, they are just trying not to be bullied. They are not fiends, liars, cowards, pedifiles, or any other name that seems to get attached to this orientation through fear. Many of those insults are more towards an individual than a specific orientation, because I can call some certain hetersosexuals those names as well. It is unfortunate that you and others here think this way, that homosexuals are so disgusting. It says a great deal about your character and how selfish you are because you care so much about your “heaven” and reaching it. When there are millions and billions of people on this earth suffering every day. For you god, who is so god worthy, it only seems that he only wants to continue to invoke pain and suffering. That is of course not my reason for rejecting many theistic principles, it is only a page in a book. Your beliefs are yours alone, please do not bully them onto others. Theistic beliefs are bronze aged propaganda that plagues this world till this day. It is quite unfortunate.

  4. This is nit-picking maybe, but:

“It’s the Catholic Church all over again.”

Factually, the Catholic Church has had less people (when you look at it from an institutional perspective, in terms of amount of staff) arrested / accused of child molestation by an order of magnitude less than the public school system.

In statistical terms, a Catholic priest is one of the most safe, most reliable people in the whole U.S. to ask to watch your children.

  5. Actually, there are.

Progressives. It’s a cult. And there are only two things they believe in: Controlling other people and destroying anyone who does not give them control.

  6. They (and the left in general) are the quickest to cry hate and intolerance but are hypocritically the largest practitioners thereof.

The nature of sin is that it doesn’t sit well with the human spirit and will continue to torment the sinner long after society has embraced the sin.

  7. Actually no. They just want rights and to be left alone. They don’t want to control anyone and they don’t care about your opinion, so long as it just stays an opinion and not an action.

  8. “It’s time to wake up, America: Our country is now so close to the gates of Hell you can feel the heat and smell the brimstone.”

As a Gentile nation of the Gentile world, our nation, like all the rest, was given up by God since the time of our earliest ancestors, and has thus been part of Satan’s world system from the get-go (despite the many Christian or Christianized individuals and influences our nation has enjoyed, a fact which I gratefully acknowledge). So technically, to extend the analogy, according to Romans ch. 1 this nation – like all others – was born in Hell. We’re only now seeing the fruit of its pagan birth as the precious fuel of prior Christian generations is exhausted.

  9. Yeah, that was 1960 not 2013. You’ve come a long way baby. Some gays can now interrupt, church services and throw condoms. try to get people fired who feel that marriage should be a term used between men and women and issue death threats against people who feel the same

Knock off the generalizations, buddy. My son’s godparent is a gay minister. I have known and love and love a number of gay people.

I’m not particularly interested in your views on theism and that has nothing to do with whether Kate Hunt is a predatory child molester- which she is.

  10. Sorry. This post was about a teacher who had sexual relations with a student and the crud who support him.

  11. Please. Do you understand in Texas you are still able to be fired for being a homosexual. There is still so much discrimination against the gay community it is ridiculous and the majority of it comes from peoples theistic beliefs.

If anyone is generalizing it is the people calling homosexuals pedophiles. That is my baby brother right there they are calling a pedophile and I know he isn’t. I am mainly commenting towards the comments and not so much the article. There seems to be a lot of anger towards homosexuals because they are just trying to be homosexual and left in peace.

I honestly don’t care if she is or isn’t. If she is tried and she is guilty, so be it, she shouldn’t have been molesting children. What I do disagree with is the generalization that homosexuals are child molesters. There are just as many heterosexuals molesting children. (I am refuting many assumptions made in other comments).

  12. I think if you read the comments you will see that many people make a distinction by specifically carving out gay activists as a subset of Marxists. I think you also need to realize that some people are very religious, and want the same thing – to be left in peace and not have their children indoctrinated at young ages (google “Kevin Jennings” and “fisting.”). It is the stated goal (out of there own mouths, on YouTube), of these Marxists to eliminate age of consent laws. Many belief systems, notjust theistic ones, condemn homosexual behavior. One of these is Buddhism, and the Dalai Lama has spoken out against it.

  13. The vast majority of gay activist are not seeking to eliminate age of consent laws. I am part of the activist movement and I haven’t even thought of that, nor do I want to; my brother doesn’t either. Your facts are distorted in what the LGBT activist movement wants; it wants equal rights. Do you really believe homosexuality is an indoctrination? If being gay is a choice, have you ever thought of trying it? No, I haven’t either. I didn’t choose to be heterosexual, I just am. I do not care how many belief systems condemn homosexual behavior, all of them are fallacious. Theism is something that will slowly die out. Homosexuality is seen in nature and has been around throughout history. In some cultures and religions it has been embraced.

  14. They don’t want to control anyone

I think you’ve gotten “Progressives” and “Libertarians” mixed up rather badly. Libertarians have no health care, and far better parties.

  15. I have NEVER met a progressive who didn’t want to control other people and destroy anyone who disagreed with them. NEVER. So don’t try to push that line of bullshit this way.

I have liberal friends, libertarian friends, conservative friends…hell, I have friends of ALL political stripes. The one thing I don’t have, are progressive friends. Because progressives don’t have REAL friends. They have fellow cult members.

They are the most hateful, destructive, conniving, lying, evil, vicious, inhumane group of people I have ever had the displeasure to come across. And make no mistake, they are on both sides of the aisle.

They have no respect for the law, unless it is being used against their enemies. They have no respect for free speech unless it is their speech. They have no respect for privacy unless it is their privacy. Should I go on?

    They are a societal cancer.

  16. Theism is something that will slowly die out.

“And then peace will guide the stars and love will steer the planets.”

    LOL.

  17. a progressive who didn’t want to control other people and destroy anyone who disagreed with them.

Because, by definition (to a leftist), anybody who disagrees is Evil.

Therefore it’s a virtue to destroy them in the pursuit of Good.

[The politically correct] Truth, Justice [depending on your skin color and sex, and depending on your politics, and the American Way [that’s about the collective, not individuals].

  18. Given your premise that God has not revealed His will explicitly regarding human sexuality, your support of gay rights is enlightened, civilized, and benign. Unfortunately, your premise is wrong. I wish fornication, drunkenness, and rock&roll were sacraments. But they’re not. Believe me when I tell you, the saddest day of my life was the day I reluctantly conceded the truth of Christianity, after reading CS Lewis (19 years ago, age 36).

  19. From an essay by Friedrich Hansen:

…It is no surprise that the lowering impulses emanating from unleashed sexual and violent instincts at the close of the romantic era collided with the oldest codes of human civilizations which is Jewish Law – hence anti-Semitism. [Lionel] Trilling observed that this sensualist turn was reflected in the lowering of the meaning of the word pleasure to “a strictly physical sense” in the Oxford English Dictionary at the time. By contrast James Joyce (Molly in Ulysses), Boris Pasternak (Lara in Dr Zhivago) and William Butler Yeat’s Maud,
Trilling tells us, “were among the last devotees of the European cult of Woman…” That is why the emergence of suffragettes is matched by women losing
their privileged position of attracting admiration and the longing for pleasure. The object of male desire turned to “innocent youth” (cf. Keats Lamia and his dialectics of pleasure, ee Trilling:”Beyond Culture”, London: 1955, p.65). Hence the lockstep rise of homosexuality and pedophilia was epitomized with Oscar Wilde’s “Dorian Grey” – the man who never gets old.

  20. I am not the on using a bronze aged book to guide my morals and never have. It is really interesting, I have witnessed more hypocrisy and disturbing things from people who follow 2000 year old propaganda than from people who discover their own morals.

You can start with self-preservation, it creates a scale for good and bad based on self-preservation; based on how something can benefit or harm you. You can then finely tune that scale to allow others to fit the equation. In the past we have tried conquering others and that self-preservation was greatly affected, so we implemented laws. The laws helped regulate the land to keep others from killing the affected. We also regulate laws so we do not give up too much of our own product – communism for example failed for many reasons, one being that people weren’t able to keep their wealth; affecting their self-preservation. It is a lose explanation, but I hope it works. Now we are to a point where is through debate and strong arguments guided by evidence that we create laws and effective theories. We follow cause and effect, research physiological and psychological functions to better understand how to self-preserve as well as live mutually with one another.

    ^.^

  21. This should not be construed as meaning that Christianity makes one sad. But it often begins in sadness. And fear. Chesterton said there is no such thing as Christianity which is not corybantic (joyfully so). You cannot be beatified by the Church if your life was not joyful. Billy Joel was wrong. It is the saints who laugh, not the sinners, although sin often seems joyful until it’s time to pay up.

  22. I used to believe that spiel. Had (and still have) gay friends, and never really gave their sexuality much thought. That whole “live and let live” attitude is a pipe dream these days. At some point it changed from live and let live to “if you don’t agree with me you’re a hater and we will destroy you.” By the way, the vast majority of religious people do not hate gays, do not want them punished or discriminated against in public accommodations, etc., simply do not condone their behavior. That is true tolerance. What the LGBT community now wants to do is to force people to approve of same sex behavior. That is not tolerance. A gay Catholic, former democrat activist, named Kevin Dujan agrees with this and has written a lot about it. In June he ran an entire series of articles answering any question people asked him about different aspects of the gay community. Fascinating reading. http://tinyurl.com/jwfttvd

  23. That is your choice. It is not the choice of billions of other people. I have often wondered why people who advocate for diversity of color, sexual behavior, and sex, refuse to accept diversity of thought and conscience. Everybody must think the same things. Like they do in North Korea.

  24. I don’t have to prove God’s existence. A leaf does not have to believe in photosynthesis to turn green.

Your soul is in His hands whether you choose to believe that or not. One day, you will be grateful that it is. You strike me as a thoughtful and intelligent person who has a good heart. Those are wonderful gifts. God is there, and you will realize it. It will change your life.

  25. You will never find a more cogent argument or more compelling evidence for the existence of God than the increasingly overwhelming focused attacks on the Christian church and Christians by your left and their allies. Of particular intrigue is how, among the diverse religions on this planet, Christianity is singled out. This is no coincidence.

  26. Oh really? Remember homosexuals used to be killed for being who they are. You do have to realize that a lot of people aren’t allowing homosexuals to be who they are. Even with all the progress there is still a lot of discrimination. I am sure this discrimination causes some pain to the psychology or physicality of any victim. Think of the kid who knows he is different from the others and is still figuring out how and he hears the others stating discriminating slurs. How would you feel it were you? Sometimes saying let us be isn’t enough. Bullying is a problem and some of it is against orientation. There is a problem and it needs to be fixed and I promise you, it isn’t homosexuality.

  27. I raised that point as a potential legal argument for firing them on another site. They have pretty much admitted in a court of law, that they would have covered up for their coworker. This begs the question: what else will they do to the detriment of the children in their charge?

How can anyone in the community trust that the children they pay taxes to educate be safe under the care of these teachers? It’s simply a ludicrous proposition.

  28. That is very easy to answer… Because diversity of color, sexual ORIENTATION, and other qualities actually exist. Your god has yet to materialize in any way.

  29. It was me, only they called me a fucking spick wetback and spit on me in this country. When we lived overseas, they beat my brother so badly for the sin of being American, that they bone showed through his shin.

Gay kids do not and NEVER have had the market cornered on being the victims of bullies. And millions of people have been killed for being what they are. Over 100,000 Christians were murdered last year all over the world for the sin of practicing their religion. Again, no corner on the market when it comes to being a victim.

  30. I have no interest in debating the existence of God with a person who talks about their baby brother in a post which is a related to a TEACHER WHO HAD SEX WITH HIS 14 YEAR OLD STUDENT.
Are you unable to stick with the topic of the post?!!

I know. Atheists are more enlightened and better people than any theist who ever lived and you hate a bronze age book. Groovy
