Obama Demands That Taxpayers Fund Sexual Pleasure Training for Girl Scouts

Planned Parenthood wants to teach Girl Scouts to be “Healthy, Happy and Hot,” and the president and Senate Democrats insist that U.S. taxpayers help them do it:

President Barack Obama would veto the House-approved long-term spending bill for the federal government that contains the Pence Amendment, a measure that would de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. . . .
[T]he Washington Times indicates “Obama has issued a veto threat on that bill, saying House Republicans’ cuts are unacceptable.”
“Senate Democrats said the non-spending provisions of the bill — such as restrictions on Planned Parenthood and on Obama administration rules and regulations — will also have to be struck,” the Times continues.

Obama’s adamant insistence on funding Planned Parenthood contradicts his 2008 campaign statements about abortion, Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit observes, calling Obama “the most radical pro-abortion and infanticide president in the last 35 years.” (Hat-tip: That Mr. G Guy.)

This isn’t just about abortion, even though Planned Parenthood is the largest abortion provider in America. Giving taxpayer dollars to Planned Parenthood puts the imprimatur of the U.S. government — an official endorsement — on everything the organization does, including its campaign to impose “comprehensive sexuality education” on children.

Money is fungible. Defenders of federal funding for Planned Parenthood claim that taxpayer dollars aren’t used for abortion, that tax money is only used for (supposedly benign) “family planning” services. But any accountant could see the bottom line,  where the stated purpose of taxpayer funding is irrelevant. A dollar is a dollar, it’s all going to the same place, and Planned Parenthood certainly isn’t hurting for cash:

PPFA’s income for fiscal year 2008-2009 was more than $1.1 billion (up six percent from 2007-2008), with nearly one-third coming from taxpayers. This “not-for-profit” entity ends virtually every fiscal year with tens of millions of dollars in “excess revenue over expenses” (known to most people as “profit”). The “excess” for 2008-2009 alone was $64.4 million.
On June 30, 2009, PPFA had net assets valued at $994.7 million, of which $396.3 million was unrestricted (essentially a savings account) and $179.9 million was temporarily restricted. Despite these huge sums, PPFA incessantly claims to need more taxpayer dollars.

Someone in the White House press corps needs to ask questions about President Obama’s priorities: At a time when federal deficits are out of control, why is the president threatening to veto legislation that doesn’t include funding for Planned Parenthood?

UPDATE: Thanks to frequent commenter Adobe Walls for pointing out that Kirsten Powers has seen through Planned Parenthood’s self-serving mythos:

Turns out, a 2009 study by the journal Contraception found, in a 10-year study of women in Spain, that as overall contraceptive use increased from around 49 percent to 80 percent, the elective abortion rate more than doubled. . . .
A January 2011 fact sheet by the pro-abortion rights Guttmacher Institute listed all the reasons that women who have had an abortion give for their unexpected pregnancy, and not one of them is lack of access to contraception. In fact, 54 percent of women who had abortions had used a contraceptive method, if incorrectly, in the month they got pregnant.

More contraception = more abortion. Pro-lifers have long sought to call attention to this fact, which seems so counterintuitive to those who’ve bought into the claims of the Contraceptive Culture.

The reason why abortion rates rise as contraceptive use becomes more frequent is a matter of “complex causation,” as social scientists would say. Yet the fact is that every method of contraception has a failure rate. The more often people use contraceptives, the greater the number of failures — i.e., “unwanted pregnancies.” In a society that prescribes abortion as the best response to “unwanted pregnancy,” there will necessarily be an increased number of abortions in tandem with the increase in contraceptive use.

This can be seen simply as a function of the Law of Large Numbers, especially when people are indoctrinated with the idea that sex without the possibility of pregnancy is “normal,” which is what the Contraceptive Culture would have us believe.

For further thoughts on this topic, please see my March 2010 essay, “The Pill at 50: Unhappy Un-Birthday.” And just in case you didn’t click through the earlier link to learn about the sexual agenda Planned Parenthood is imposing on Girl Scouts, let me show you:

Click the images to see the whole 20-page “Healthy, Happy and Hot” pamphlet, which was distributed to Girl Scouts by Planned Parenthood. Because teaching Girl Scouts about “sexual pleasure” is obviously what U.S. taxpayers want, right?

Wisconsin Updates
HERMAN CAIN VIDEO ADDED

Tea Party activists staged a “Stand With Scott Walker” rally today at the Capitol in Madison. Our man Troglopundit was on the scene and Tweeted that the union goons outnumbered the pro-Walker crowd. But he also Tweets this:

Speaker: Know when we got the idea for this rally? Thursday. Thousands of you here!

Given the short notice — I didn’t write about it until yesterday afternoon — the turnout seems pretty impressive: Instapundit has a crowd photo. He also has this video interview with Andrew Breitbart:

Lots more at The Lonely Conservative and Da Tech Guy points out that the union goons crossed the line with their Nazi analogies.

UPDATE: Blogs are way ahead of the regular news outfits on this story. Michelle Malkin:

Free-market champion and conservative businessman Herman Cain declares Madison “Ground Zero” in the battle against Big Labor.

That’s the first quote I’ve seen from Cain’s speech, and he spoke more than two hours ago. You would think that when a presidential candidate gave a speech at a major event like this, reporters on the scene would rush to be the first to report it. But you would be wrong. Anyway, Malkin is using reports via Twitter to cover the rally and posts this Twitpic of the scene:

UPDATE II: Jim Hoft is on the scene phoning in reports and sending photos via Lady Liberty. Meanwhile, the governor is standing tough and the Democrats are trying to back down:

Gov. Scott Walker on Saturday rejected an overture from a Democratic state senator that public employee unions had agreed to make financial sacrifices contained in the budget-repair bill in return for the right to bargain collectively.

So after all this protesting, now the unions want a “compromise”? Yeah, they’re losing this battle and they know it. John Fund at the Wall Street Journal explains why the Battle of Madison is so important.

UPDATE III: The New York Times reports from Madison, but evidently failed even to notice Herman Cain’s speech. Someone recently pointed out the blinding whiteness of the union protesters in Madison, but I’d hate to invoke that famous word with 5 A’s.

Meanwhile, from California, Joe Fein at Valley of the Shadow writes:

The protests by the Teacher unions (and the professional protesters called up by OFA and President Obama) in Madison, Wisconsin are almost a bad re-play of the Anti-war protests of the Bush years (both Bushes). Thus, deja vu.

UPDATE IV: Robert Costa of National Review got this video of Herman Cain’s speech:

Man, the people were cheering so loud they were drowning him out! (Nice fedora, BTW.)

UPDATE V: Welcome, Instapundit readers!

UPDATE VI: Welcome, Gay Patriot readers! And now Robert Costa has his report online at National Review.

UPDATE VII: Civility: No arrests reported at Tea Party protests. Just so we don’t forget what the protests are about:

Walker has called on 14 Democratic state senators, who fled the state rather than allow a quorum permitting a vote on the bill, to return to Madison.
Bill opponents say they won’t allow a vote unless Walker negotiates on the plan to eliminate collective bargaining rights for everything but wages. The legislation also would require most employees to pay more for their pensions and health insurance benefits.
“I have been informed that all state and local public employees — including teachers — have agreed to the financial aspects of Gov. Walker’s request,” said Sen. Jon Erpenbach, a Democrat. . . .
Walker, who says the state is “broke,” is asking legislators to pass his Budget Repair Bill to combat a $137 million shortfall through June 30. An upcoming two-year budget for 2011-13 must address a pending $3.6 billion deficit, he said.
The governor’s press secretary, Cullen Werwie, released a statement Saturday calling on Erpenbach, Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller and other Democrats to return from Illinois.
“These are many of the same senators who, two years ago, rammed through a billion dollar tax hike in 24 hours with no public input,” the statement said. “The quickest way to resolve the current situation is for the Democratic senators to stop shirking their responsibilities and debate the bill in Madison.”
Opponents say the proposed legislation is an attack on workers’ rights.

“Worker’s rights,” my ass! You’ve got no “right” to be employed by the state, nor any “right” to hold taxpayers hostage and demand that they give you more money or more benefits.

UPDATE VIII: Now a Memeorandum thread! I’m so happy I’m cuckoo for Cocoa Puffs!

Like a Broken Clock Twice a Day …

. . . occasionally Joe Klein is right:

Revolutions everywhere–in the middle east, in the middle west. But there is a difference: in the middle east, the protesters are marching for democracy; in the middle west, they’re protesting against it. I mean, Isn’t it, well, a bit ironic that the protesters in Madison, blocking the state senate chamber, are chanting “Freedom, Democracy, Union” while trying to prevent a vote? Isn’t it ironic that the Democratic Senators have fled the democratic process? Isn’t it interesting that some of those who –rightly — protest the assorted Republican efforts to stymie majority rule in the U.S. Senate are celebrating the Democratic efforts to stymie the same in the Wisconsin Senate?

It is that last question, you see, which is the aiming-point of Klein’s column, as he wishes us to conceive the GOP’s filibusters in the U.S. Senate as analogous to the shenanigans of Democrats in Wisconsin.

Of course, the constitutional separation of powers and the ancient super-majority cloture rule in the Senate are such as to make the Senate (usually) an impediment to any sudden shift of policy. Looking back over the first two years of Obama’s presidency, we see that it was the overwhelming Democratic majority in the Senate which enabled his fatal overreach.

If only Obama and Nancy Pelosi had heeded the signal when Scott Brown was elected as the “41st vote” to block passage of ObamaCare — after Democrats had already lost off-year gubernatorial elections in Virginia and New Jersey — perhaps the 2010 mid-terms might not have been so disastrous for them.

“If” — the most important two-letter word in the English language.

Contrary to what Klein or any other pundit may have thought, the anti-Obama, anti-Democrat tide is still running high. This tide is still quite strong enough to overwhelm the government-employees unions in Wisconsin and by 2012 may yet be strong enough to wash Obama himself out of office.

That this is not entirely a Republican tide is what so confuses the liberal punditry. The GOP’s Bush-era “brand damage” is still deep enough that voters hesitate to describe themselves to pollsters as Republican, because that label carries negative connotations for so many. Yet when they see the policies pursued by the Obama administration — a wild and reckless binge of deficit spending — these voters do not hesitate to say that the country is on the “wrong track” rather than in the “right direction.”

By happy coincidence, guess which GOP presidential candidate will join Andrew Breitbart and Jim Hoft at a Tea Party rally Saturday in Madison? And just like Herman Cain, Scott Walker represents the taxpaying majority against the tax-consuming minority who seem to be calling the shots for the Democratic Party.

Klein sees the irony of Democrats Against Democracy — a movement that predictably arises whenever Republicans are in the majority — without wondering whether he himself has helped bring about this ironic circumstance. Weren’t Joe Klein and his journalistic colleagues singing in unison from the Hope and Change hymnal all through the 2008 election and on into the Obama administration? If the Democrats and union thugs in Madison think they represent the forces of Truth and Justice marching on The Right Side of History . . .

Well, when did Joe Klein ever contradict that belief?

Organized labor is leading liberalism on a lemming stampede toward a cliff, and it’s probably too late for Klein or anyone else to stop them.

Jill Filipovic Throws Me Some Traffic; Little Green Footballs, Not So Much

America’s Favorite Feminist responds to this morning’s provocation by accusing me of promoting the narrative, “Brown people are savages who will go after pretty white women.” A near-miss there, Ms. Filipovic, but thanks for linking me. Meanwhile . . .

It’s really sad that he’s got nothing better to do. While I’m on the hook for whatever irresponsible things I’ve said, neither Jim Hoft nor Pamela Geller can be blamed for my rantings, nor can I be blamed for their rantings. But just out of curiosity, let’s see what they had to say, starting with Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit:

Lara Logan is lucky she’s alive.
Her liberal belief system almost got her killed on Friday. This talented reporter will never be the same.
Why did this attractive blonde female reporter wander into Tahrir Square last Friday? Why would she think this was a good idea? Did she not see the violence in the square the last three weeks? Did she not see the rock throwing? Did she miss the camels? Did her colleagues tell her about the Western journalists who were viciously assaulted on the Square? Did she forget about the taunts from the Egyptian thugs the day before? What was she thinking? Was it her political correctness that about got her killed? Did she think things would be different for her?

Now Pamela Geller at Atlas Shrugs:

This horrible story gets worse and worse. Worse still, CBS tried to keep the whole thing quiet and was forced to get in front of the story only when it became widely known that other media outlets were on to it. Who are they covering for?
And why? Because the false narrative the media is painting of what is going on in Egypt is patently false, and this brutal sex attack points to something else entirely.
The NY Post is the only news outlet reporting that the Muslims raping her were shouting “Jew, Jew, Jew.” Obama should make a statement addressing this horror and condemning the vile Islamic anti-semitism at the heart of Islam.

Let’s stipulate that there are a lot of unknowns at this time, and the reality of the situation may turn out to be diffferent than however Geller, Hoft or I currently conceive it. For example, my friend John Guardiano thinks Logan may have been raped by pro-Mubarak thugs, rather than anti-Mubarak protesters. We don’t know enough facts to judge the incident, and may never have enough facts to do so. Continue reading Jill Filipovic Throws Me Some Traffic; Little Green Footballs, Not So Much →

Did President Obama Invent Muslim Victims of Egyptian Church Bombing?

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit notes that although Obama issued a statement saying that the New Year’s Day bombing at a Coptic church in Alexandria caused “deaths and dozens of injured from both the Christian and Muslim communities,” news reports indicate all 21 killed were Christians, as were 71 of the 79 reported injured.

So even though the jihadi killers were clearly targeting Christians, the Equal-Opportunity Victimhood Principle requires that accidental injuries to eight Muslims be accorded equal status with the purposeful violence against 92 intended Christian victims.

But at least Obama is now on the record as being against terrorism.

I Bet They Were Named ‘Sven’

Twelve suspected Lutheran extremists arrested in England:

LONDON — Police on Monday arrested 12 men on suspicion of plotting an act of terrorism, swooping in major pre-dawn raids across the country.
The dozen, aged between 17 and 28, were detained “on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of an act of terrorism in the UK,” police said in a statement. . . .
The BBC cited sources saying the operation was related to an investigation into Al-Qaeda-inspired terrorism.
Four of the men were from Cardiff, four from Stoke-on-Trent, and three from London . . .

The Lutheran Menace™ is everywhere!

Jim Hoft at Gateway Pundit wrongly suspects Amish and Shriners in this plot, which clearly has all the hallmarks of radical Lutheranism.

UPDATE: Ed Sven Morrissey at Hot Air says nothing about the Lutheran nature of this terror threat. Are they part of the conspiracy?

FBI Report: Remember That Predicted Wave of Tea Party Hate Crimes?

Despite warnings about “right wing extremists” from the Department of Homeland Security, the Great Hate Tsunami of 2009 failed to materialize:

The number of hate crime incidents in the United States reported for 2009 came down from 2008, according to data released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on Monday.
“While the number of law enforcement agencies submitting data to us increased — topping off at 14,222 — the number of hate crime incidents reported for 2009 (6,604) was down from 2008,” the agency reported.

The Southern Poverty Law Center — which has spent the past two years shrieking about an alleged proliferation of anti-Latino, anti-Muslim and anti-black hate groups — today expanded its list of anti-gay hate groups to include both the American Family Association and the Family Research Council.

Something about a little boy who cried wolf . . .

UPDATE: Longtime readers will probably not be surprised to see Charles Johnson use the SPLC list (which applies its “hate” label to the Massachusetts conservative group MassResistance) as an excuse to take a cheap shot at Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit:

Let’s pause to consider this typically stupid ad hominem — i.e., Jim/”Dim” — before moving on to examine how utterly false is Johnson’s characterization of MassResistance.

The “teach school kids to fist” remark relates to the role of MassResistance in publicizing a 2000 conference at Tufts University, sponsored by the Boston chapter of the Gay, Lesbian and Straight Education Network (GLSEN). What transpired at that event — with state officials telling an audience of high school and middle school students about the practice of “fisting” — was described in a Weekly Standard article by Rod Dreher.

The 2000 Tufts conference became newsworthy in 2009 after Obama named as his “safe schools czar” Kevin Jennings, who had been keynote speaker at that event.

So you see that Johnson’s characterization of MassResistance as “the ‘gays teach school kids how to fist’ bunch” — as if the group were demonizing all homosexuals for the actions of GLSEN activists — is completely inaccurate. MassResistance is a parent-sponsored organization arguing (as they have every right to do) about educational policy in Massachusetts public schools.

Surely parents ought to be able to object to teaching school kids about “fisting” without being accused of “hate.” And surely Jim Hoft ought to be able to blog about the controversy surrounding the czardom of Kevin Jennings without being derogated as “Dim.”

UPDATE II: Robert Spencer at Jihad Watch notes this from another story about the FBI report: “Anti-Muslim crimes were a distant second to crimes against Jews, making up just eight percent of the hate crimes driven by religious intolerance.” Dan Blatt at Gay Patriot awaits MSM headlines about “the rising tide of anti-Semitism.”

This Is A Christian Act How, Exactly?

by Smitty

Via Gateway Pundit, there is word that The Dove World Outreach Center in Florida plans to burn some Korans.

That is as bent an idea as anything the Fred Phelps flock is doing. Followers of Christ near and far should consider denouncing this evil provocation.

For starters, this blog thinks that The Dove World Outreach Center is false, and all members should depart for a Christ-centered, Biblically sound church. Pray, read the Bible, know the difference, people.
