Our Long National Nightmare Is Over

By which, of course, I mean Monday. It’s now 12:01 a.m. ET Tuesday, and so I kept my vow not to say a word about Re-Coronation Day.

Others who chronicled the event now have stains on their pants from the orgasmic gush. Chris Matthews emitted his usual effusion of idiocy, and over on the Third-Place Cable News Network With Lower Ratings Than MSNBC (The One That People Only Watch When They’re Stuck in Airports), Jim Acosta was trying to out-gush Matthews:

“You know, I feel like I should pinch myself right now, Wolf. I can’t believe I have this vantage point of history in the making . . . It’s good to be the President. It’s almost like being a rock star on every street corner of Washington on this day.”

Further mockery from The Lonely Conservative, American Power and Poor Richard’s News. This stuff does not amuse me. It depresses me.

Our nation is being destroyed, and the press corps is reduced to the role of partisan pom-pom girls for The Great Destroyer. Meanwhile, the alleged leaders of the opposition have no clue of how to rescue themselves from their current condition of helpless impotence. The search for any reason to smile amid this catastrophe — which I blame entirely on the gross ineptitude of the overpaid dimwit fratboys running the Republican Party — turns up precious few nuggets of encouragement:

The bimbo was a guest Monday on Anderson Cooper’s show on the Third-Place Cable News Network With Lower Ratings Than MSNBC (The One That People Only Watch When They’re Stuck in Airports). Her “brand” is even more irrelevant than her failed father, assuming that such complete irrelevance is even possible.

It’s going to be a long 1,460 days ahead.

Tee Hee Hee: Stacy’s Cousin Makes Hawkins’s 20 Most Annoying Libs List

by Smitty

I should like to meet Maggie Moo some day to assure her that, while bearing her no personal animosity, this blog finds her ideas emblematic of how jacked up her generation and this country are:

18) Meghan McCain: The GOP and Meghan McCain have the same sort of great love we’ve seen between Chris Brown and Rihanna. Who’d have ever thought that the Republican Party’s pale imitation of Paris Hilton would still hate us after all this time besides — well, everybody?

Defining Quote: “…I’ve spent most of my adult life fighting for change from inside the Republican Party….If I don’t see some changes in the next four years, I’m going to consider registering as an Independent in 2016.” — Megan McCain

Great post. Thank you, Hawkins!

Reading Meghan So You Don’t Have To

— by Wombat-socho

The right half of the blogosphere owes an enormous debt of gratitude to Betsy Woodruff, William F. Buckley Fellow at the National Review Institute, for she has done something few of us would have the courage to do. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, for our sake Ms. Woodruff took upon herself the vile, filthy, nigh-unspeakable task of reading the latest opus of RINO Poster Girl Meghan McCain, America, You Sexy Bitch, and writing a brief review of this appalling tome.

Now, nobody has ever accused Ms. McCain of being the brightest bulb on the tree, but it is evident from Woodruff’s review that the MSNBC commentator has sunk to a new low of incoherence, such that she apparently finds former Ohio Congressman Dennis Kucinich the solution to America’s political problems today. The less said about her (more) liberal co-author’s scribblings the better. Nonetheless, I recommend Woodruff’s review, not because any of us need a reminder of just how useless La McCain is as any kind of political commentator, but because in these stressful times of double-digit unemployment, autocratic Cabinet secretaries, and mad bombers turned political operatives, we all need a good laugh once in a while, and Woodruff’s review delivers.

Meghan, You Ignorant Slut

“Last week, I went on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show PoliticsNation to talk about extremism in the Republican Party. As a socially liberal Republican, this happens to be a topic I know a lot about. On the show, I told Sharpton that many Republicans treat me like a freak, especially the extreme-right members of my party. I went on to say that I don’t understand the appeal of extreme bloggers such as Michelle Malkin and the late Andrew Breitbart. That’s all I said, but it only took a few hours before my comments were posted out of context on a variety of blogs that suggested I was viciously attacking Breitbart. My Twitter feed exploded with insults, including the suggestion that I should kill myself.”
— Meghan McCain, The Daily Beast, “Cut It Out, Internet Bullies!”

Let’s start here: In what sense, Cousin, are you a Republican?

Because I’m trying to think of any recent occasion in which you have actually done anything to help the Republican Party.

Nothing immediately comes to mind.

Instead, you go on TV (and write columns of insipid nonsense for Tina Brown) denouncing Republicans and conservatives as extremists.

Michelle Malkin — extreme!

Andrew Breitbart — extreme!

In fact, I think your resentment toward them is not a matter of issues or ideology, but simply the fact that the “extremists” you denounce are actually more popular than you.

You seem to be under the delusion that you are entitled to demand respect from the honest people you insult, simply because your family is rich and your father is a senator. You are a stereotype of the spoiled little rich girl who can’t understand why people don’t automatically kowtow to her whims.

So while you’re whining about people calling you a “fat pig” on Twitter, other people are actually dealing with far more serious forms of harassment and intimidation. Yet I don’t seem to recall you saying one word about the plight of Aaron Worthing, and you were notably MIA on “Everybody Blog About Brett Kimberlin Day.”

Your selfishness is the root of your problems, and if you had any valuable skill or talent, I’d say you were impairing your usefulness by your ill-considered antics. As it is, you’re just another obnoxious D-List celebrity bimbo, and they’re a dime a dozen.

Wake Up Meghan McCain, I Think I’ve Got Something To Say To You

by Smitty

We’ll let the Rod Stewart reference die at the title, but really, Meghan:

The moderate Republicans, like you and the notorious Brooks, are precisely the reason that Constitutional conservativism has taken so long to re-assert itself. You see, Maggie, you can’t make peace with what is wrong in the name of ‘moderation’.  In medical terms, that’s like saying “Tumors are cells, too.”

While it is strictly true that cancers are made of cells, those cells are fundamentally wrong, and dangerous to survival.

So, if you lack the  judgement to discern the wise from the foolish maybe you should consider silence, Maggie.

Asking the Important Questions: Why Does Gillian Anderson Want Me to Blog About Her Teenage Lesbian Affairs?

Yes, it’s been a week since my last Instalanche and, while I sincerely doubt that Professor Glenn Reynolds would want to encourage such absolutely shameless link-baiting, I’m otherwise mystified as to why any attractive celebrity would make this kind of confession:

Gillian Anderson, the actress best known for playing agent Dana Scully on ”The X-Files,” has admitted she’s had romantic relationships with women in the past.
Speaking to Out, the actress talked about how in her youth she was voted “Most Bizarre” and “Most Likely to Be Arrested.” Embellishing on her desire to shock at such a young age, she admitted to having a relationship with a girl, “for a long time when I was in high school.”
When asked if that meant a lesbian relationship, Anderson says, “Yeah, yeah, well it’s … You know, I’m old enough that I can talk about that.”
Elsewhere in the interview, Anderson downplayed other same sex relationships she had. “If I had thought I was 100-percent gay, would it have been a different experience for me?” She continued, “Would it have been a bigger deal if shame had been attached to it and all those things that become huge life-altering issues for youngsters in that situation? It’s possible that my attitude around it came, on some level, from knowing that I still liked boys.”

Let me be the first to say that unless she’s prepared to publish video proof — or at least a few grainy old Polaroids — I can only conclude that Gillian’s just making up this stuff in order to stoke the kinky fantasies of her fans. Or maybe her “I Was a Teenage Lesbian (Kinda)” story is about signaling that she’s cool with the whole gay-rights “No Bullying” thing.

Either way, it’s an obvious P.R. stunt, and the only reason I’m writing about Gillian Anderson is the off-chance Instapundit will link me, so I can enhance my traffic with what is, quite frankly, just another lazy round-up of links topped off with a tasty slice of cheesecake and a clever headline to lure in the readership. Like the Big Man says, Time to clear the freaking browser tabs!

Why? Because you know that’s what teenage lesbian Gillian Anderson would want you to do — in your dreams.

UPDATE: POH Diaries rubs salt in my wounds:

I didn’t realize that she and Stacy McCain had so much in common. Now we now know thanks to Playboy, Meghan McCain has an obsession with Hunter S. Thompson. Hmmmm.

Weird, huh? Here’s the difference: I’m a professional journalist. Meghan’s a rich brat exploiting her second-hand fame and big titties.

Therefore, I’m exploiting her second-hand fame (and big titties) by writing about Meghan — as a professional journalist!

No, I’m not proud of it. But that’s what I’m doing.

UPDATE II: Dan Riehl is mildly amused by Meghan. And by “mildly amused by,” I mean, coldly contemptuous of.

Playboy Reads Dan Riehl “for the articles” — heh!

UPDATE III: In case anyone should accuse me of “misogyny” toward Her Bratness, permit me to point out that the list of young conservative women in New Media with more talent than Meghan McCain is almost infinitely long. For example, Katie Pavlich of Townhall:

Just a day after the DCCC issued a 250 word email mentioning the “War on Women” four times and just two days after Hillary Clinton warned women of “extremists” in America looking to take away their rights, TIME Magazine is out with a cover story all about women. The cover story isn’t about how women are oppressed in America, but about how women are now out earning men and bringing home the bacon.

But the liberal media don’t celebrate conservative young women like Katie Pavlich — or Mary Katharine Ham, et al. — do they?

Why, then, do the liberal media luvvvv Meghan McCain, huh?

That’s what we call “a rhetorical question,” Meghan.

UPDATE IV: It might be worth pointing out that I once got a lot of traffic for the headline: “Dana Loesch in Playboy?”

Remember: I am a professional journalist!

What America Really Needs Today: Meghan McCain Talking About Her Boobs

There are many important news stories I could be blogging about today. The latest polls show a statistical dead heat in the Alabama and Mississippi GOP presidential primaries. Greece has officially defaulted on its debt. Israel has reportedly delayed a military strike on Iran.

My ego tells me that there are thousands of readers checking their RSS feeds waiting to learn the answer to the question: “What will Stacy say about these breaking news developments?”

Yet I am a highly-skilled news industry professional, which is why I must suppress my narcissistic impulse to share my personal opinions on these topics, in order to give readers what they really want: Meghan McCain talking about her breasts.

“I’m not super skinny, I have large breasts, I know, they’re real, I can’t do anything about it, and like the Internet just has this really weird reaction to my body … I’ve seen a therapist about it. … I don’t really need people in politics or people sort of a little bit older to understand me or like me because there’s enough college students that seem to like me, and that’s all I really care about.”

So while I struggle against my egotistical delusion that you might be interested in my personal opinions about the Greek economy or the Republican presidential campaign, Cousin Meghan has no such dilemma: She knows exactly why you’re interested in her, and she’s making the most of it.

Meghan McCain: An Essay on Decadence

Ace of Spades called attention to this memorable pearl of wisdom folly by the notorious embarassment to the Republican Party:

This purposeful and conscious disparagement of knowledge is rather breathtaking, coming as it does from someone whose grandfather and great-grandfather were both four-star admirals in the U.S Navy and who, one supposes, could not have graduated from Annapolis without demonstrating some ability in regard to the spouting of facts.

Yet brief investigation discovers that great-grandfather John S. McCain Sr. was 79th in a class of 116, while grandfather John S. McCain Jr. was 423rd in a class of 441, and her “Maverick” father, JSM III, was 894th in a class of 899. Thus a steady decline in scholastic achievement can be perceived and we may state with tremendous certainty that, if not for her family’s wealth and influence, young Meghan never would have qualified for admission to Columbia University.

Just hours before Meghan wrote that Tweet, I had been discussing the false dilemma fallacy, and we see how the spoiled bimbo falls into it, supposing that humankind neatly bifurcates into:

  • Those with “personality and swagger” and
  • Those who “spout boring facts on command.”

The dichotomy between these two qualities — which for the sake of clarity we might call vivaciousness and studiousness — is perhaps not wholly imaginary, but Meghan fosters a prejudicial stereotype by derogating erudition.

It takes all kinds to make the world go ’round, and I do not for a moment think that my own excellence in the area of “personality and swagger” relieves me of obligation to those whose specialty is “boring facts.” Indeed, I’m pretty handy in the “boring facts” department myself, but in matters of technology am compelled to rely on Smitty’s expertise in (and remarkable patience with the tedium of) all things IT-ish.

Fat, drunk and stupid is no way to go through life, Meghan. And while the very name of this blog reflects a desire to distinguish myself from the disgraces which your branch of the family has brought upon our shared patrimony — which diverged in the early 19th century with the brothers Alexander and Hugh McCain — I do wish you were capable of learning from your own folly, and perhaps also from your father’s folly.

Governed by the Cast of ‘Jersey Shore’?

What hope is there for recovery of our Republic, if we cannot benefit from the study of the past, critically examining both the virtues and vices of our forebears, sriving to emulate the former and avoid the latter? Can’t Meghan see how her father’s arrogant “Maverick” attitude undermined his better qualities? Doesn’t she understand that her father’s contempt for the Republican Party’s conservative rank-and-file hurt both himself and his party? And is Meghan incapable of recognizing that, in abusing her unearned celebrity as she has so conspicuously done, she brings her family name into even greater disrepute, making herself a complete laughingstock whom no honest or intelligent person respects?

Democracy can be a force for good or evil, in culture as in government.

On the one hand, as Ann Coulter observes in Demonic, we behold democracy as “mob rule,” which forces everything down to the level of the lowest common denominator and panders to the basest appetites of humanity, as evidenced in such diverse phenomena as the “Occupy” movement and Jersey Shore.
