That’s a quote from a resident of the Upper West Side of Manhattan, explaining why she’s selling out and leaving New York City:
“How do I let my children cross the street when homeless people are shooting up?
“As a parent, this isn’t the place I once knew. I feel like NYC is disappearing so fast and no one’s doing anything. . . . I don’t want to feel afraid, and I don’t want my children to be scared to go outside.”
Thousands of families are now fleeing New York City, but the question must be asked: Who elected Bill De Blasio as mayor?
Probably a lot of those Upper West Side moms voted for De Blasio, because it was the trendy “progressive” thing to do at the time. Didn’t it occur to any of them to wonder what the consequences might be?
What is so sad about what’s happened to New York is that everybody knew it would happen. This was all predictable, if you remember what happened to New York back in the 1970s and ’80s. The long slide into squalor reached rock bottom during the term of Mayor David Dinkins. The backlash against the Dinkins disaster resulted in Rudy Giuliani’s election, and Giuliani enacted a get-tough approach to policing that cleaned up the city, producing an urban renaissance that lasted 20 years. Mayors and police departments in other cities emulated the Giuliani model, and everywhere such policies were pursued, success followed.
But it’s RAAAAACIST to have safe streets, and the voters listened to promises of “progressive” Democrats like De Blasio, and so they have no one to blame but themselves for the ruin of their cities.
Black Lives Matter Chicago said early Monday’s looting of stores was a form of ‘reparations’ as the group held a protest Monday night in support of the more than 100 people arrested after an evening of violence.
Downtown Chicago was otherwise quiet after authorities cut off access, with drawbridges leading into the city pulled up and freeway exits blocked after riots sparked by a false rumor of a child shot by police.
At least 13 police officers were injured as the violence claimed an estimated $65 million in property damage. Ariel Atkins, a BLM organizer, called the looting ‘reparations’.
‘I don’t care if someone decides to loot a Gucci or a Macy’s or a Nike store, because that makes sure that person eats,’ Atkins said. ‘That makes sure that person has clothes. ‘Anything they wanted to take, they can take it because these businesses have insurance.’
This is now the de facto platform of the Democratic Party. These riots — vandalism, arson, looting — are in fact Joe Biden rallies, where Democrat voters show up to take what they want and do as they please, and the politicians they elect will protect their “right” to steal and destroy.
The local prosecutor in Chicago, Kim Foxx, has dropped felony charges against 25,183 defendants in the past three years. These criminals are Demkocratic voters set free to terrorize the community, with impunity from prosecution. There is neither safety for human life nor security for property in Chicago, a city governed by Democrats on behalf of the criminals who rule the city’s streets. So when merchants close their businesses, when real-estate values plummmet, thus depriving the city government of tax revenues, Democrats will be left in charge of a bankrupt ghost town, and expect a bailout from federal taxpayers.
Hundreds of people swept through the Magnificent Mile and other parts of downtown Chicago early Monday, smashing windows, looting stores, confronting police and at one point exchanging gunfire with officers, authorities said.
The officers had stopped several people on Lake Street near Michigan Avenue when shots were fired from a passing car around 4:30 a.m., nearly five hours into the widespread vandalism, according to police spokesman Tom Ahern. No officers were shot but a squad car was hit, he said. It was not known if anyone in the gunman’s car was shot.
Ahern said other officers were injured through the night. Earlier, an officer was seen slumped against a building by Grand and Wabash avenues as other other cops tended to him. It was unclear what had happened to him. Ahern had no details on the injuries.
The looting began shortly after midnight as people darted through broken store windows and doors along Michigan Avenue carrying shopping bags full of merchandise. Cars dropped off more people as the crowd grew. At least one U-Haul van was seen pulling up. . . .
The looting seemed to be centered in Streeterville and North Michigan Avenue, but some looting was reported on State Street in the Loop and on the Near North Side. By 4 a.m. police appeared to be getting things under control.
But some vandalism continued into the daylight hours, and the CTA suspended train and bus service into downtown during the morning rush, while the Illinois state police blocked off ramps from expressways. Bridges across the Chicago River were raised, except for the one on LaSalle Street for emergency vehicles. . . .
Crowds repeatedly tried to bash in the windows of the Omega watch store at Delaware Place and Michigan Avenue.
“The watch store,” one officer said. “They’re gonna get it eventually.”
A group of people went in and out through a broken window of the Louis Vuitton store along Walton Place across the street from the Drake Hotel. A squad car drove by and the group ran away.
Louis Vuitton, Omega — “social justice” is all about name-brand value. If you don’t understand why it was necessary to loot these stores, that’s probably because you’re a racist Republican:
Officers were responding to a call of a man with a firearm and when police arrived and saw someone matching the description, the suspect fled, leading to a chase. He allegedly turned around and fired shots at the police officers who returned fire and hit the suspect. A rumor was spread that police hit a child, the Chicago Tribune reports, and a crowd gathered to face off against police. . . .
Tensions carried on throughout the night and spread across the city, resulting in widespread rioting and looting.

Dubois Place is a block-long street in an area of southeastern Washington, D.C., that is overwhelmingly black and, by “overwhelmingly black” I mean like Mogadishu, it’s so black. Despite the draconian COVID-19 policies imposed by the city’s mayor, some residents of the community decided to hold a massive block party Saturday night, which they advertised on social media, attracting hundreds of revelers. The risk of infection was exceeded by the risk of dying in a hail of bullets:
A 17-year-old was killed and an off-duty D.C. police officer suffered life-threatening injuries after authorities said at least 20 people were shot when a dispute broke out early Sunday at a cookout attended by hundreds of people in Southeast Washington.
D.C. police said at least three shooters opened fire from different locations about 12:30 a.m. on Dubois Place in the Greenway neighborhood, sending panicked partygoers racing for cover and others screaming for friends and relatives.
The dead teenager was identified as Christopher Brown.
“I really don’t understand how my child’s life is just gone,” said the victim’s mother, Artecka Brown, 33. She said she last spoke to her son two days ago when she hugged him and told him “I love you.”
The unidentified off-duty police officer, who apparently was at the party, was critically injured and was “fighting for her life,” D.C. Police Chief Peter Newsham said. Officials said the officer, who is 22 years old and has been on the force about one year, was struck in the neck.
Authorities said there was a dispute before shots were fired, and police said they think there were exchanges of gunfire. At least 11 of the victims were women. Police initially said 21 people had been shot but later determined one of the injured victims had not been struck by a bullet.
Videos posted on social media show revelers partying shoulder-to-shoulder near Dubois Place at 34th Street SE. After the shots, some victims fell while others scattered; the crime scene sprawled for blocks, with police marking 170 pieces of evidence. Police said nearly 100 bullets were fired.
The party and the tragedy that ensued revived questions about large gatherings that flout Mayor Muriel E. Bowser’s order that prohibits groups larger than 50 people and requires those older than 2 to wear a mask when they leave home and are likely to come into contact with others. The mask requirement, one of the strictest in the nation, was toughened recently after cases began to spike.
Police are searching for the suspects, who were not wearing red MAGA hats. The mayor doesn’t allow public gatherings in her city, unless they’re rioters tearing down statues, or block partiers who start shooting each other after midnight. Like I said, it’s Mogadishu.
By the way, notice that the dead 17-year-old’s mother is only 33, which means she was 16 when her son, the oldest of her five children, was born. Artecka Brown is already a grandmother, since Christopher Brown became a father last year at age 16. But blame Trump for that, I guess.
A Florida man fatally shot an Orlando Burger King worker Saturday night after his friend’s drive-thru order took too long to complete, according to a report. Kelvis Rodriguez-Tormes, 37, is accused of gunning down Desmond Joshua, 22, in the parking lot of the fast-food restaurant on East Colonial Drive about 7:30 p.m., according to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. “You got two seconds before I shoot you,” Rodriguez-Tormes told the victim, who had only been recently hired, before pulling the trigger, WKMG reported, citing deputies.
Rodriguez-Tormes had earlier stormed to the Burger King at the behest of a woman who made a scene over a long wait time at the drive-thru.
The unidentified woman was refunded $40 and told to leave after she got out of her car and screamed she was going to get “her man” to come to the eatery, according to an arrest record.
She drove away, but soon returned with Rodriguez-Tormes, who targeted Joshua, demanding the employee fight him.
Rodriguez-Tormes placed Joshua in a headlock before a witness separated the two, records show.
But moments later, Rodriguez-Tormes returned from his truck with a gun and shot Joshua, police said.
The employee was taken to an area hospital and pronounced dead.
Rodriguez-Tormes was charged with murder, destruction of evidence and weapons possession.
The victim was black, but because the killer is Hispanic, nobody is calling this a “hate crime” or planning a protest march, so it’s just one more sad headline in the long, tragic history of Florida Man.
The alleged leader of the Black Disciples street gang in Chicago is among 23 individuals facing criminal charges as part of a federal investigation into drug and gun trafficking on the city’s South Side.
During the multi-year investigation, law enforcement seized 24 firearms, more than 13 kilograms of cocaine, more than a kilogram of heroin, approximately 1,350 grams of heroin laced with fentanyl, approximately 750 grams of fentanyl or fentanyl analogue, approximately 378 grams of crack cocaine, $52,595 in suspected illicit cash proceeds, and distribution quantities of suspected MDMA pills. Much of the alleged drug and gun trafficking occurred in the Englewood neighborhood on the South Side of Chicago.
Indictments and criminal complaints unsealed this week in U.S. District Court in Chicago charge 22 of the defendants with various drug or firearm offenses, while one defendant faces bank fraud charges. The defendants were arrested Tuesday and have begun making initial appearances in federal court.
Included among the defendants is DARNELL MCMILLER, also known as “Murder,” who is described in the charges as the current leader of the Black Disciples street gang in Chicago. Several other alleged high-ranking members of the Black Disciples were also charged and arrested, including CLARENCE JANUARY, who allegedly leads the gang’s “Dog Pound” faction, and KENNETH BROWN, who allegedly supplied the gang with drugs for distribution in Chicago. CHARLES KNIGHT, an alleged high-ranking member of the Gangster Disciples street gang, is charged as part of the probe with supplying narcotics to McMiller’s crew. . . .

Valuable assistance in the probe was provided by the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin, which unsealed an eight-person indictment this week charging heroin trafficking offenses that are related to this investigation. . . .

The Black Disciples are a national street gang that is prevalent throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs. According to the charges, members of the Black Disciples have been distributing narcotics and guns in the Englewood neighborhood and other parts of Chicago. The charges describe more than 50 illicit transactions in which alleged Black Disciples members sold guns or drugs to individuals who were cooperating with law enforcement. In many instances, the cooperating individuals surreptitiously video-recorded the transaction at the direction of law enforcement. . . .

January, 27, of Chicago, is accused of trafficking three handguns in the summer of 2019. He had previously been convicted of a felony firearm offense in the Circuit Court of Cook County and was not lawfully allowed to possess the guns. Several other convicted felons were also charged with unlawfully possessing firearms, including rifles and a shotgun furnished to members of the Black Disciples.
See, this is the real bottom line: Drugs and guns go together. And the people dealing drugs are almost always convicted felons who, by law, are not allowed to possess firearms. It is not really difficult to put these people behind bars, if you’re serious about stopping violent crime.
But (a) Chicago is run by Democrats and (b) violent criminals are Democrat voters, so these vicious gangs are permitted to run wild. So far this year, 444 people have been murdered in Chicago, while another 2,307 have been wounded in the incessant gunfire committed by the city’s Democrat voters. The only reason Darnell “Murder” McMiller and his crew are off the streets is because this was a federal investigation, and the guy currently running the DOJ is not a Democrat.
If Joe Biden gets elected, however, Darnell will get a pardon.
Two weeks ago, we brought you the story of Daniel Hernandez, who was shot to death in Los Angeles after refusing to comply with a police officer’s repeated command: “Drop the knife!” You might think people would have learned this lesson by now, but stupidity is pandemic:
An intoxicated, knife-wielding man was shot as he charged at a Phoenix police officer while threatening to “slice” her throat, wild video shows.
The footage, released Thursday by Phoenix cops, shows suspect Jon David Brouseau, 55, repeatedly threatening to stab a female officer when she encountered him on June 14 in a parking lot of a supermarket.
Officers responded to the scene after someone called 911 to report that a “drunk man armed with a knife” was threatening customers inside, police said in statement Thursday. “Drop the knife!” the officer tells Brouseau, video shows. “Put it on the ground!”
“No, I’m going to f–k you up,” Brouseau responds before turning his attention to another person in the parking lot whom he also threatened with the knife.
The officer manages to reengage Brouseau, stopping him from approaching the other person as she calls for backup. The suspect then focuses again on the officer, whom repeatedly tells him to drop the weapon, video shows. “Shut your f–king mouth, b—-h!” Brouseau said as he walked toward the cop and around a police vehicle. “Shoot me – I’ll kill you, you stupid little bitch! I’ll f–king slice your f–king throat!”
Uh, no, sir, you will not.
There will be no protest marches decrying “excessive force” by the police officer because, you see, Jon David Brouseau was white.
He was only wounded, and is expected to recover, but even if the cop had unloaded her magazine on this deranged dimwit, there still wouldn’t be any white people protesting. If I may appoint myself as a spokesman for the white community, I’d say our general sentiment is, if you’re stupid enough to bring a knife to a gunfight, you deserve whatever happens to you. And did I mention Crazy People Are Dangerous?
Two people are accused of committing murder during an armed robbery in Ouachita Parish. According to court documents, it happened on Brown Street in Richwood on July 29, 2020.
Louisiana State Police say they were notified of an alleged homicide around 5 p.m. that same day. LSP stopped a speeding car on La. Highway 17 in Franklin Parish.
The driver was identified as Michael Dewayne Mitchell Jr., 18. During the stop, police say they noticed the smell of marijuana. They say Mitchell admitted to smoking marijuana and a search of the vehicle was conducted.
It was then that police found the body of a man in the trunk. The victim was identified as Michael Robinson Jr., 23, of Monroe.
Police say Mitchell then confessed to taking part in an armed robbery which resulted in the victim’s death.
Records state that he implicated another man, Cameron Powe, 19, saying the two of them robbed the victim in Richwood. Powe is accused of shooting the victim during the robbery, killing him.
According to police, Mitchell said they then loaded the body into the victim’s vehicle and planned to leave the victim and the vehicle at a site in the Winnsboro area. Mitchell was stopped before he could get there.
You know, when I highlight stories like this, I hesitate to point out the obvious lesson, for fear that I might be giving criminals advice on how better to get away with felonies. But then I rememember that these idiots are probably illiterate, so there is no harm in saying this: If you murder somebody and you load the victim’s body in the trunk of the car so you can dump it, obey the speed limit on your way to the dump site.
Also, don’t smoke weed on your way to dump the body.
