Screaming NYU Protester Woman Identified as Anti-Trump Porn ‘Artist’

The highlight of Thursday’s protest against Gavin McInnes’s appearance at New York University was a woman who screeched at the police:

Who’s protecting NYU from this bulls**t? Why are you here? You’re not here to protect these students from Nazis. No, you’re not! This is completely f***ed up. And these students had to f***ing face them on their own. You should be ashamed of yourselves! You should be standing up to those Nazis! You should be protecting students from hate! This is hate! These are f***ing assholes . . . you are a joke. You’re grown boys! You’re grown boys . . . and I’m disgusted! I’m a professor! How dare you! How dare you f***ing assholes protect neo-Nazis? F*** you! F*** you! F*** you! These are kids who are trying to learn about humanity! They’re trying to learn about human rights and against racism and xenophobia and LGBTQ rights, and you’re letting these f***ing neo-Nazis near here! You should kick their ass! You should! You should be ashamed of yourselves! You should! F*** that s**t. F*** that s**t. It’s not up to these students to kick the ass of a neo-Nazi! They don’t have to raise their fist! In case you lost count, that was 16 F-bombs in less than two minutes, and she twice identified herself as a professor, prompting curiosity as to whether she taught at NYU and what subject. However, online investigators say she is in fact an artist named Rebecca Goyette, an adjunct professor at Montclair State University in New Jersey.

 

Professor Boyette’s online biography:

Rebecca Goyette creates persona-based works that poke holes in Puritanical sexual mores. . . .
Situated within a largely queer, fantasy paradigm, her work is able to embrace a fruitful multiplicity of sexual desire and engage a panoply of non normative gender roles. . . .
For Goyette, sex is one gateway into the rich territory of psychology and human interaction, into the remotest ranges of the subconscious mind.

Well, her subconscious mind is definitely a non-normative panoply, eh?

Works in Professor Goyette’s “queer, fantasy” oeuvre include “Lobstapussy,” “F–k Platter,” “Ghost Bitch” and “Masshole.”

 

It appears that “non-normative” is a synonym for crazy and, if you suspect that Professor Goyette’s mental illness is hereditary, you might not be surprised to learn that she claims to be the descendant of a woman who was hanged as a witch in Salem in 1692:

Goyette, haunted by the horrific tale of her ancestor’s death, has long dreamed of making an artwork in her honor. Her summer exhibition at Freight and Volume marks the realization of said dream. Of course, as those familiar with Goyette’s radical feminist practice might have anticipated, this will be no orthodox tribute. Rather, to honor her martyred ancestor, Goyette made a pornography. . . .
The Salem witch trials, Goyette explained in an interview with The Huffington Post, were fueled, above all else, by an erratic hatred and fear of feminine power. A panic had spread amongst the Puritan pilgrims, who became suspicious of sexuality, empowerment, and the other, leading little white men in tall black hats to accuse over 200 individuals of witchcraft, when their only crime, much of the time, was standing out.
Though the trials officially ended in 1693, the odious assumptions that permitted them still persist today, manifested in various forms of sexism, xenophobia and racism. “Donald Trump is the perfect pilgrim,” Goyette said, “he’s spewing all kinds of hate. He has the freedom to do whatever but he imposes arbitrary rules onto everyone else.”
Goyette believed the best way to send a big “f–k you” to pilgrims past and present, who go to wildly unconscionable lengths to silence otherness in all its forms, was to make an irreverent, nasty, hilarious, empowering feminist porno.

How many times must we refute this feminist myth of witchcraft as “empowerment”? After feminists seized upon this theme in the 1970s, they enjoyed several years of unimpeded myth-making, with Mary Daly, Andrea Dworkin, Barbara Ehrenreich and others cobbling together a narrative composed of a cherry-picked selection of fact woven together by theories of women’s intuitive nature and male oppression. Feminist “research” included picking through 19th-century works by such authors as the anti-Catholic French writer Jules Michelet (La Sorcière, 1862) and the anti-Christian suffragette Matilda Joslyn Gage (Woman, Church and State, 1893). Michelet was the primary source of the claim that witches were skilled practitioners of the healing arts, possessed of an arcane knowledge of herbal medicine, who were wrongly persecuted by an envious Catholic hierarchy. Gage was the source for the claim that 9 million women were killed during three centuries of witch hunts. There is no actual evidence for Michelet’s claim, however, and reputable historians now estimate the actual number of witchcraft executions in Europe as 100,000 or less, and at least a quarter of the victims were male, so that Gage’s number was a 90-fold exaggeration.

Unfortunately, by the time serious scholars began debunking these feminist claims in the 1990s — I highly recommend Ronald Hutton’s The Triumph of the Moon: A History of Modern Pagan Witchcraft — the mythology of the witch as an “empowered” woman had acquired a vast bibliography produced by Women’s Studies professors. Long on theory and short on facts, this ideological myth-making had taken root in academia, so that every October, we find journalists cranking out Halloween-themed articles that recycle the feminist witch narrative.

This is not merely coincidental to Rebecca Goyette’s insane rage. Her “art” is a sort of pornographic “queer, fantasy” cosplay, with her “non-normative” expressions of perverse sexuality intended to challenge the alleged misogyny and “puritanical” fear of sex that are peddled as historical truth by the feminist witchcraft myth:

Goyette addresses the seeds of hatred and fear that have prevented America, in her opinion, from becoming truly great. She does so in a feminine language all her own, where trauma and desire are not mutually exclusive, but wound up in the same, messy psychosexual playground.

As I explained last April: “Feminists have long understood, far better than most of their opponents, that destroying Christianity is necessary to feminism’s success.” This project seeks to impose on society a new feminist “morality” that is a neo-Gnostic inversion of scripture:

A blasphemous denial of God’s sovereignty and righteousness, Gnosticism rejected the idea of Original Sin and thus rejected also the significance of Christ’s atoning sacrifice. If humans are sinless, we need no Savior, and what is necessary instead is for humans to get in touch with their inner divinity, to “become part of the universal whole by a process of self-knowledge and self-realization,” as Professor Peter Jones explained in his 1992 book The Gnostic Empire Strikes Back: An Old Heresy for the New Age.

Making “self-knowledge” the basis of religious truth, of course, is entirely consistent with the feminist claim that “the personal is political.” The result of this self-obsessed worldview is not only Rebecca Goyette’s obscene adventures in the “messy psychosexual playground,” but also her shrieking irrational rage toward Trump supporters.

In February 2016, Professor Goyette produced “Trump/Palin Performance Art Rally,” a work of political obscenity, and her partner in that performance, artist Brian Andrew Whiteley, subsequently produced a Donald Trump grave stone in Central Park, which earned Whitely a visit from the Secret Service, and also, free publicity.

Did I forget to mention that Professor Goyette’s “Ghost Bitch” exhibit included her fantasies of castrating a certain Republican?

A highlight of the exhibition, the video aptly entitled Ghost Bitch U.S.A., couples Ghost Bitch with none other than misogynistic, fear-mongering (presumptive) Presidential candidate Donald Trump. We see Trump bound to a tree, allowing Ghost Bitch to have his way with him, ultimately leading up to his castration.

 

 

“Fear and Loathing of the Penis” is, as I have said, the psychological inspiration of feminist ideology and, also, bad feminist art.



 

 

VIOLENT BERKELEY MOB RIOT SHUTS DOWN YIANNOPOULOS SPEECH

BREAKING: A mob of violent Berkeley Democrats tonight attacked the campus venue where Breitbart.com editor Milo Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak, breaking windows, starting fires and hurling explosives, forcing University of California officials to cancel the speech.

UPDATE 10:15 p.m. ET: The Los Angeles Times reports:

A speech by conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos was canceled at UC Berkeley on Wednesday amid violent protest on campus that sparked at least one fire.
Police clashed with protesters, and much of the university was placed on lockdown. Campus police were ordering protesters to leave the area, but many were refusing.
At 6:50 p.m. [Pacific time], police used a loudspeaker to tell the crowd that Yiannopoulous had left the campus and that they would be arrested if they didn’t disperse.
Witnesses said some windows were broken at the auditorium where Yiannopoulos was scheduled to speak.
This marks the second time in two weeks that rowdy protests have forced the cancellation of a Yiannopoulos speech. The same thing happened last month at UC Davis, prompting a debate about free speech protections and how university should response to so-called “hate speech.”
Yiannopoulos writes for Breitbart News and is an avowed supporter of President Trump. A provocateur with a large online following, his speaking events at several college campuses were branded the “Dangerous Faggot Tour.”
On his Facebook page, Yiannopoulos said that “violent left-wing protesters” had broken into a building’s ground floor, ripped down barricades and threw rocks.
“My team and I are safe. But the event has been cancelled,” Yiannopoulous said.
In characteristic fashion, he pointed to the mayhem on campus to highlight his agenda: “One thing we do know for sure: the Left is absolutely terrified of free speech and will do literally anything to shut it down.”

UPDATE 10:25 p.m. ET: The violence at Berkeley is symptomatic of the climate of irrational hatred the Democrat Party and its media allies have incited against Republicans in the wake of Donald Trump’s election last November. Several “news” organizations have falsely smeared Yiannopoulos as a “white supremacist.” University professors have indoctrinated students with a dangerously intolerant belief in “social justice,” and administrators at schools like UC Berkeley have openly discriminated against conservative viewpoints, thus surrendering their campuses to mobs of criminal Marxist thugs.

UPDATE 10:45 p.m. ET: Breitbart’s Charlie Nash is following developments and reports that Berkeley riot police have fired rubber bullets in an effort to disperse the violent mob. Injuries are reported, and journalists on the scene describe being menaced by angry rioters.

UPDATE 10:55 p.m. ET: Breitbart’s Tom Ciccotta reports:

A man with a bloodied face appeared on livestream claiming to have been punched during anti-MILO riots at UC Berkeley. Masked protesters were also caught on video attacking attendees with thrown objects and protest signs. . . .
In the background, a rioter can be heard yelling “if you f**k with us, we’ll f**k with you.”
Later, on BuzzFeed’s live video stream, protesters could be seen attacking people with flagpoles and hurling objects at them.
BuzzFeed’s reporter noted that one man was spotted “bleeding profusely.” Splatters of blood were spotted on the plaza where the protest took place.
Violence at the event began after the arrival of a large number of masked “anti-fascist” protesters, who immediately stormed police barricades and lit fires.

UPDATE 11:20 p.m. ET: San Francisco CBS affiliate KPIX-TV reports:

Protesters armed with bricks and fireworks mounted an assault on the building hosting a speech by polarizing Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos Wednesday night, forcing the event’s cancellation.
Yiannopoulos was making the last stop of a tour aimed at defying what he calls an epidemic of political correctness on college campuses.
With masked activists joining the already large group of protesters gathered in the area between Sather Gate and the north end of Telegraph Avenue as night fell, campus police were holding their positions near the entrance of the Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union building hosting the event.
As the gathered crowd got more agitated, masked “black bloc” activists began hurling projectiles including bricks, lit fireworks and rocks at the building and police.
Some used police barriers as battering rams to attack the doors of the venue, breaching at least one of the doors and entering the venue on the first floor.
In addition to fireworks being thrown up onto the second-floor balcony, fires were lit outside the venue, including one that engulfed a gas-powered portable floodlight.

Notice the description of Milo as “polarizing.” What is so “polarizing” about disagreeing with mobs of deranged totalitarians?

How #TheResistance Killed Facebook

Since the end of the 2016 election, and especially since it resulted in the victory of Donald J. Trump as president, Facebook has become utterly intolerable. I took the application off my phone when I realized, a few days after the election, that I felt angry every time I scrolled through my newsfeed . . .
One of my many friends also feeling this way, Sarah Barak, wrote on Facebook recently: “I feel hectored. I’ll be happier if I unfollow the worst offenders. It’s just too much and the constant negative coverage is affecting my happiness.” . . .
The problem with Facebook political rants is this: It is not Twitter. I do not “follow” my high school best friends because of their insightful political commentary; I want to see updates on their lives and pictures of their adorable children. . . .
If all you’re using Facebook for is to yell into the digital void about politics, you will find your audience for such rants is getting smaller by the minute. Sorry, random friends from all walks of life: I just don’t care what you think about Donald Trump today.
I hoped the tone would improve post-election, but with the inauguration and every statement or story out of the Trump administration, the hysteria remains at a fevered pitch. And I’m sick of it.

The problem is #TheResistance, as anti-Trump radicals have dubbed themselves on social media. Having bought into the liberal media propaganda that Trump is Hitler and GOP voters are Nazis, the Left has incited Democrat voters to insult anyone who didn’t vote for Clinton. This deliberate dehumanization of Republican voters, as willing accomplices of a latter-day Holocaust, has the effect of making Democrat voters insanely hostile toward anyone who disagrees with them. Therefore, GOP voters are apt to be silent when confronted with a Facebook friend’s anti-Trump rant, because if you say anything in favor of Trump, you’ll be inundated with angry messages from your deranged Democrat friend, and then all their anti-Trump friends will join in the hate-swarm.

Fortunately for me, I’m good at ignoring Facebook and, because I’ve been hate-swarmed by professional haters for so long, I’m more or less invulnerable to such tactics. People need to chill.

The Pervert Party: Anthony Weiner Could Get 15 Years in Prison for Child Porn

In July 2013, after former Democrat Rep. Anthony Weiner was caught “sexting” for the second time, I wrote a column for The American Spectator with a deliberately provocative title: “The Pervert Party”:

Perhaps now someone at the New York Times or the Washington Post will ask Patrick Frey what happens to bloggers who call attention to Anthony Weiner’s persistent fascination with young females. Or perhaps not. Either way, longtime readers of Frey’s Patterico blog know all about how, after he produced some of the most interesting research during the 2011 WeinerGate scandal, Frey was “SWATted” — the victim of a dangerous type of 911 hoax that dispatched armed police to Frey’s Los Angeles home, where the hoaxer had falsely reported a violent crime.
Whatever anyone might say about that incident, it certainly was not a coincidence, nor was it coincidental that liberal media organizations were perfectly willing to assist in Weiner’s political rehabilitation. There was a reason, after all, that Weiner’s young cybersex partner told her tale to a gossip blog, rather than to any major newspaper or TV network. If a conspicuously married Democrat politician is engaged in sleazy shenanigans with a 22-year-old, no respectable liberal journalist wants to break that story. In 2011, it was Andrew Breitbart who turned Anthony Weiner’s sordid secrets into a national drama that drove the New York congressmen to resign in disgrace. . . .

You can read the whole thing, if you wish to remind yourself of what was made apparent by Weiner’s disgrace, both in terms of the degradation of culture, and the role of the liberal media and the Democrat Party in enabling that degradation. In retrospect, it should have been obvious that a middle-aged married politician seeking out a 22-year-old “sugar baby” for online sex chats, after he has already been caught once in such affairs, was in the throes of a helpless and perverse obsession. A man so reckless as to be willing to destroy not only his reputation, but also his political career and his marriage, for the sake of kinky conversations with Sydney Leathers, probably was too far gone to recover. When Weiner was caught yet a third time in August 2016, however, it became evident that he was also willing to risk serious legal consequences:

Disgraced pervert and former congressman Anthony Weiner could soon face child-pornography charges as a result of a federal investigation into his electronic exchanges with a 15-year-old girl.
The FBI began investigating Weiner after the Daily Mail reported that the notorious “dick pic” enthusiast had exchanged in sexually explicit messaging with the underage girl. Writing under the pseudonym “T Dog,” Weiner reportedly asked the 15-year-old to dress up like a “school girl” and engage in “rape fantasies.” He allegedly told the girl he “would bust that tight p—y hard and so often that you would leak and limp for a week.”
It was federal investigators probing Weiner who uncovered emails potentially related to the Hillary Clinton investigation on several of Weiner’s electronic devices, prompting FBI director James Comey to inform members of Congress. Many Democrats have suggested Comey’s actions in response to the Weiner probe findings may have cost Hillary Clinton the election.
Weiner’s estranged wife, Huma Abedin, was a senior adviser to Clinton at the State Department, and maintained a prominent role in her presidential campaign.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Weiner’s attorneys have been in discussion with federal prosecutors in recent weeks, and have urged them not to bring serious charges in the case. The most serious charge Weiner could face is production of child pornography, because he allegedly solicited sexually explicit images from the underage girl. If convicted, Weiner could face a 15-year mandatory minimum jail sentence.
Lesser charges Weiner might face include receipt of child pornography or possession of child pornography. The former carries a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison, while the latter charge has no mandatory minimum.

(Via Memeorandum.) Even if we could leave aside our moral judgment of Weiner’s behavior, we would still be left to contemplate the strictly pragmatic issues involved in his case. It can be fairly argued that Weiner caused Hillary Clinton’s defeat last November, not only because of Comey’s FBI investigation, but also because Weiner’s third sexting scandal called attention to his wife, Clinton’s personal aide Huma Abedin. This in turn reminded many people of the widely held opinion, dating back to the 1990s, that Bill and Hillary have an “arrangement” in their marriage. And, of course, this rekindled speculation about Hillary’s own sexual preferences. Were such opinions and speculation fair to the Clintons? Fairness doesn’t count for much in politics.

Why is it, after all, that the Republican Party has long enjoyed strong support from so-called “values voters”? Isn’t it true that Democrats are the party that celebrates abortion and homosexuality? And what kind of people do we expect to find holding leadership positions in such a party? Republicans have certainly suffered their share of ugly sex scandals in recent years (e.g., Denny Hastert), and such hypocrisy is deeply offensive to those conservatives who expect their leaders to “walk the walk.” However, when a Democrat like Weiner is caught in such a scandal, it could be argued, his behavior is entirely consistent with the policies his party advocates. Democrats are the Pervert Party, and Anthony Weiner is therefore the perfect symbol of his party’s values.

Democrats Face a Political Math Problem and Also, ‘Phallic Imperialism’

What is “phallic imperialism,” how does the protester propose to “crush” it, and what would a post-phallic world look like? We have to ask questions like that — what do these words mean in the minds of those who use them? — if we are to develop any treatment for the madness that has seized these kooks.

You can read the whole thing, which makes a point about how feminists and other progressives have isolated themselves from the political mainstream, so that they imagine everyone shares their weird beliefs. (Bonus fact: The phrase “phallic imperialism” was coined by lesbian feminist Sue Katz in a 1971 article in which she denounced heterosexuality as an “institution” of “phallic tyranny.”) What we are witnessing are the effects of “epistemic closure” on the Left, as the Obama era caused progressives to think of themselves as being on “the right side of history.” This triumphant belief in their own moral superiority, in turn, led Democrats to believe that they no longer had to debate the merits of policies, because anyone who opposed them could be dismissed as ignorant and/or evil. This is the kind of echo-chamber cult mentality that led to Nancy Pelosi’s infamous claim on behalf of ObamaCare: “We have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.”

These are not arguments, these are symptoms of a mental disorder, and Megan McArdle explains the practical effects of this insanity:

Why are the left’s public demonstrations more impressive than its voter turnout? Because there are a whole lot of Democrats in the large population centers where such demonstrations are generally held. People can join a protest simply by getting on the subway; it’s an easy show of force.
But there are a lot of small towns in America, and as Sean Trende and David Byler recently demonstrated, those small towns are redder than ever. Effectively, the Democratic coalition has self-gerrymandered into a small number of places where they can turn out an impressive number of feet on the ground, but not enough votes to win the House. Certainly not enough to win the Senate or the Electoral College, which both favor sparsely populated states and discount the increasingly dense parts of the nation.
The Senate map in 2018 is brutal for Democrats. If Democrats want to get their mojo back, they’re going to need to do more than get a small minority of voters to turn out for a march. They’re going to need to get back some of those rural votes.
To do that, they’re probably going to have to let go of the most soul-satisfying, brain-melting political theory of the last two decades: that Democrats are inevitably the Party of the Future, guaranteed ownership of the future by an emerging Democratic majority in minority-white America. This theory underlay a lot of Obama’s presidency, and Clinton’s campaign. With President Trump’s inauguration [Jan. 20], we saw the results.

Read the whole thing, but it’s not just “rural voters” with whom Democrats have lost touch. Hillary didn’t lose the election because of deep-red rural states like Wyoming and Arkansas, she lost because she was rejected by voters in states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin. The opinions of working-class white voters in Scranton or Kenosha were not considered relevant by Democrats, because people like that have no influence in the 21st-century Democrat Party. Instead, the people who voted for Hillary have decided that lesbian feminist slogans about “phallic imperialism” represent “an emerging Democrat majority.” A wealthy Hollywood degenerate like Ashton Kutcher calls himself “a citizen of the world” on national TV, as if this is going to influence voters in Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, West Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, Ohio, Florida, Michigan and Pennsylvania — all states Trump won last year, and where Democrats will be defending Senate seats in November 2018.

What will happen to the New York/Hollywood elite and their progressive fantasies if Republicans gain a 60-seat majority in the Senate?

Alas, they will be crushed by “phallic imperialism.”

‘Our Political Opponents’: Notorious Traitor Declares ‘Progressive’ Loyalty

The headline on today’s Guardian column:

Chelsea Manning: Compromise does not work
with our political opponents. When will we learn?

In case you forgot, Bradley “Chelsea” Manning is the mentally ill coward and traitor who deserved to be shot by a firing squad, but was instead sentenced to serve 35 years in Fort Leavenworth, a sentence that was commuted last week by The Worst President in History.

 

There are no words strong enough to convey the contempt that every patriotic American must feel toward Bradley “Chelsea” Manning. If one of his/“her” fellow inmates at Leavenworth had murdered Manning in cold blood, I would advocate a presidential pardon for that inmate. And so, I think, we may draw our own conclusions about Manning’s use of first-person plural pronouns in this column:

Barack Obama left behind hints of a progressive legacy. Unfortunately, despite his faith in our system and his positive track record on many issues over the last eight years, there have been very few permanent accomplishments.
This vulnerable legacy should remind us that what we really need is a strong and unapologetic progressive to lead us. What we need as well is a relentless grassroots movement to hold that leadership accountable. . . .
The one simple lesson to draw from President Obama’s legacy: do not start off with a compromise. They won’t meet you in the middle. Instead, what we need is an unapologetic progressive leader.
We need someone who is unafraid to be criticized, since you will inevitably be criticized. We need someone willing to face all of the vitriol, hatred and dogged determination of those opposed to us. Our opponents will not support us nor will they stop thwarting the march toward a just system that gives people a fighting chance to live. Our lives are at risk — especially for immigrants, Muslim people and black people.
We need to stop asking them to give us our rights. We need to stop hoping that our systems will right themselves. We need to actually take the reins of government and fix our institutions. We need to save lives by making change at every level.

Who is this “we”/“us”/“our” for whom Manning speaks? Democrats.

Just keep it up, Democrats. The American people are watching you.

One of the most predictable insults that liberals direct at their critics is “ignorance.” Liberals consider themselves intellectually superior, and so the fact that you disagree with them is interpreted as proof of your inferiority. Never does a liberal consider the possibility that his antagonist has examined the arguments for liberalism and rejected them.

No, it is only ignorant prejudice that can explain the conservative’s opposition, the liberal believes. Convinced that they are both intellectually and morally superior to others, liberals think of themselves as qualified to tutor the rest of us, as if we are simple-minded children.

When we see headlines like that, we are entitled to ask, where is the evidence that liberals are superior to everyone else? The radical mob that burned that limo were convinced they were striking a blow against Trump’s right-wing agenda. Exactly how did torching this car advance the “progressive” cause?

It’s the same with feminism. No matter how well-educated you may be, if you disagree with feminists they will accuse you of ignorance. You’re just a dimwitted subhuman sexist pig, if you don’t support their agenda, and no amount of facts or logic can ever convince feminists otherwise:

Karl Marx’s colleague and co-author of the Communist Manifesto, Engels in 1884 wrote a very important book, The Origin of the Family, Private Property and the State, which is still worth reading today. Despite his anti-capitalist bias (or perhaps, because of this bias), his foray into anthropology forced Engels to confront the inescapable fact that women’s work as mothers is irreplaceable. . . .

Brilliant. I have no problem conceding the superiority of someone like Ace, who obviously is several IQ points smarter than me. What I can’t stand is being lectured by some dimwit Gender Studies major like Jessica Valenti who (a) is nearly 20 years younger than me, and (b) could have titled her memoir My Pathetic Record of Bad Decisions: Why Only a Stupid Whore Would Make Such an Embarrassing Mess of Her Life.



 

‘I’m Rubber, You’re Glue,’ and Other Childish Things That Losers Say

Name-calling proves nothing, and sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words. Nevertheless, I am in the word business. George Orwell’s famous essay “Politics and the English Language” needs to be assigned reading for everyone who wants to understand our current situation.

Because I’ve already exceeded my weekly quota of fat jokes, there isn’t much more I can say about the Women’s March on Washington. Madonna is now claiming she was quoted “out of context,” which is what liberals always say when they’re caught saying what they really mean. However, words actually do mean things, as we have been reminded:

Friday night in Seattle, a man was shot during a riotous protest outside an event at the University of Washington featuring pro-Trump speaker Milo Yiannopoulos, an editor for Breitbart.com. Police say the incident is still under investigation, but a report by the Seattle Times indicates the gunman was part of the anti-Trump mob and that he claimed to have been assaulted by the man he shot, whom he believed to be a “white supremacist.” However, friends of the victim — who is reported to be hospitalized in critical condition — say the man is actually an anti-Nazi activist who voted for Bernie Sanders in the 2016 Democrat presidential primaries.
The shooting in Seattle happened on the same day that mobs protesting President Trump’s inauguration rioted in Washington, D.C., where among other criminal acts they broke windows at a Starbucks and a Bank of America branch and burned a limousine parked outside the offices of the Washington Post. A day later, during the anti-Trump “Women’s March on Washington,” aging pop singer Madonna spoke of her violent fantasies: “Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.”
“Love Trumps Hate” and “Make Racists Afraid Again” are among the slogans commonly proclaimed on banners brandished by these violent mobs. This simplistic mentality, equating Republicans with “hate” and “racism,” has the effect of dehumanizing the 63 million Americans who voted to elect Trump. The rioters and their celebrity supporters evidently believe that any American who votes Republican is not merely wrong, but evil. Anyone who doesn’t hate Trump as much as Madonna hates Trump is condemned as ignorant and unworthy of respect. Who is to blame for inciting this dangerously divisive attitude? . . .
