The scum of the earth — wretched asinine left-wingers — have descended on Ye Merry Olde to make an Olympic-class nuisance of themselves:

Hours after the opening ceremony fireworks echoed around east London, up to 400 demonstrators marched through a neighborhood near the Olympic Park to protest what they called the “Corporate Olympics.”
The event, organized by Counter-Olympic Network and supported by 35 groups ranging from Occupy London to ecological and local anti-austerity campaigners, targeted issues including free tickets for sponsors, missile sites on residential blocks and the ethics of Olympic corporations such as BP and Dow Chemicals.
“A significant number of people in this country — about 20 percent, according to a poll — are not happy with the Olympics because of the involvement of large corporations about which are significant concerns,” said Julian Cheyne of the Counter-Olympic Network. “We are representing their views and making sure that opinion is expressed.
“It is shameful that BP is a sustainability partner of the Olympics after the damage it did to the Gulf coast with their spill, and Dow Chemicals are not meeting their moral and ethical obligations to help the victims of the Bhopal disaster.”

Julian Cheyne, just so you know, is a former resident of an East London housing co-op that was demolished five years ago to make way for the Olympics. He has managed to hustle his “victimhood” into a sort of career as the Official London Olympics Denouncer. The bottom line of all this agitated whining? They hate capitalism:

About 500 people critical of the economic impact and corporate flavor of the London Olympics marched Saturday near the Olympic Park, determined to send a message that Britain is not united in backing the games.
The protest march came hours after police arrested more than 130 bicyclists who had defied an order to avoid cycling in groups around the stadium during Friday night’s opening ceremony. . . .
Occupy London, part of a global movement that has waged demonstrations against financial institutions and capitalist policies, said some cyclists were members of the movement. They said police cordoned off more than 100 cyclists at one road junction near the stadium as Friday’s ceremony was beginning and held them there several hours.
Saturday’s protest, the largest so far against the games, drew a mix of left-wing and green activists who decry the Olympics as a corporate juggernaut rolling over residents and their civil rights.

The alleged violation of their “civil rights,” you see, justifies the protesters in disrupting traffic and attacking police. Hat-tip to Tom Lamb for this video which, according to the protesters, shows police brutality against a man in a wheelchair but looks to me more like a bunch of smelly Occupy scum assaulting a cop:

A crowd of Occupy protesters disrupted an “Art Walk” event Thursday night in downtown Los Angeles, throwing rocks and bottles at police.

According to Fire Andrea Mitchell, 17 people were arrested and four police officers were injured. The Occupiers are, predictably, whining about “police brutality,” but I’m sure a lot of people in Los Angeles think the cops weren’t nearly brutal enough.

Tasers, pepper spray, CS gas, billy clubs, rubber bulllets — c’mon, LAPD, why are you pussy-footing around with these protest punks?

Time to break out the riot guns, I say. Bring in SWAT units with M5s and armored cars, maybe call in the Air National Guard to drop some napalm on these subversive Commie scumbags. If they want to whine about “police brutality,” give ’em something to whine about!

Confirmed: ‘Occupy’ Movement Is a Wretched Hive of Villainous Scum

One of the things you learn if you study crime long enough is that criminality tends to be a general trait. Criminals do not limit themselves to specialties. The car thief is often also a small-time dope dealer, and the dope-dealing car thief doesn’t have much compunction about committing the occasional rape or aggravated assault.

This is part of the reason the “broken windows” approach to law enforcement works: When police start paying attention to seemingly minor infractions of the law, the people they bring under scrutiny necessarily include a certain number of career criminals. Pull over a car for failing to signal a left turn, run the driver’s ID through the computer system and — surprise! — he’s got a warrant for a probation violation. Search his car, find a dime bag of dope or a pistol, and it’s back to prison for the habitual offender.

Crime tends to cluster. It’s a pattern, rooted in an attitude, a worldview, a belief system involving a selfish disrespect for the social order.

What happens, then, when a political movement arises which celebrates the anti-social attitudes commonly held by criminals? Naturally, such a movement becomes a magnet for punks, hoodlums and thugs, and the crime wave associated with the “Occupy” protests wasn’t surprising. All of which is preamble to today’s not-so-shocking news:

Officials have linked forensic evidence from the 2004 murder scene of a 21-year-old Juilliard student to the scene of a recent Occupy Wall Street subway protest, NBC 4 New York has learned.
DNA evidence from the scene of Sarah Fox’s murder in Inwood Hill Park eight years ago has been connected to DNA from a chain left in a subway station by Occupy protesters in March, NBC 4 New York first reported Tuesday.
Fox was found nude and strangled in the park in May 2004, days after she disappeared during a daytime jog. Investigators recovered her pink CD player in the woods just yards from her body.
Sources said Tuesday the DNA found on the CD player matches DNA found on a chain left by Occupy Wall Street protesters at the Beverly Road subway station in East Flatbush on March 28, 2012.

Via Memeorandum, which also has the New York Times version of the story. It should be emphasized that this DNA match doesn’t necessarily solve the crime. Police say it is possible that the DNA on Sarah Fox’s CD player was from one of her friends, and not from her killer.

However, if this DNA found at the scene of an Occupy protest does belong to Fox’s killer, it is hardly “a bizarre turn” in the case.

The Occupy movement is organized on the principle of lawless hostility to private property. And you know what they call lawless people who are hostile to private property? Criminals.

UPDATE: Thanks to the commenter who points out that the post title is a near-miss of a line in Star Wars by Obi-Wan Kenobi, who describes the space-port town of Mos Eisley as a “wretched hive of scum and villainy.” The implied comparison to the patrons of the Mos Eisley Cantina is probably too flattering to the Occupy scum who attempted to storm the AFP Summit in D.C. last fall.

Maher Veers In The Direction Of Coherence While Contrasting #Occupy With Tea Party

Potty mouth alert. Maher cannot communicate a point without an F-bomb. He correctly grasps that, in terms of tangible results, #OccupyWallStreet is indistinguishable from the World’s Youngest Blogger’s #OccupyDiaper parody routine.

But he is incapable of grasping that the Tea Parties did things The Right Way. In supporting liberty, in adhering to the Founder’s principles, in leaving locations cleaner than they found them, Tea Partiers exemplify an adult approach to political involvement. When Maher says that the Tea Party used Alinsky tactics, he’s either (a) ignorant of Alinsky’s evil, or (b) doubling down on the evil with slander.

Lord, grant Bill Maher some insight into how completely wrong he is.

Is Thurmont Ready for the Occupiers?

When the decision was announced in March that the G-8 summit would be moved from Chicago to Camp David, the “Occupy” movement claimed it as a victory, saying that their planned protests had frightened away the summit organizers. Yesterday, I noted that the Occupiers have announced plans to descend in force on tiny Thurmont, Maryland, the town nearest Camp David (and just 15 miles from my home). Folks in Thurmont say they’re prepared for the anti-capitalist mob, and the Occupiers say they intend no mischief. But have they forgotten the dangerous madness that Occupy DC inflicted at last year’s AFP “Defending the American Dream” conference?

Is Thurmont ready to handle that kind of psychotic frenzy? I don’t think so. My column today at The American Spectator previews the G-8:

HAGERSTOWN, Maryland — They don’t teach economics at Harvard Law School. That’s the only explanation I’ve been able to offer for President Obama’s consistently wrongheaded policies for the past three years. Of course, we’ve never seen any of Obama’s transcripts, so we can only speculate what courses he took at Occidental College, Columbia University or Harvard Law. Being therefore compelled to judge his familiarity with economics based entirely on his record and public rhetoric, we are reminded of Ronald Reagan’s famous quip: “The trouble with our liberal friends is not that they are ignorant, but that they know so much that isn’t so.”
Whether the result of ignorance or misinformation, Obama’s economic incompetence has made him a laughingstock. Yesterday, the Senate rejected his budget by a 99-0 vote. The joke might be funnier, were it not for the 23 million Americans who can’t find a job. The pathetic blunder that is Obamanomics — record deficits, an inflationary monetary policy and an alleged “recovery” that has scarcely dented persistently high unemployment — undermines our international prestige. If the United States can’t get its fiscal house in order, what claim can the president make to world economic leadership?
America’s weakness in the Obama era will be on display Friday as leaders from seven nations arrive at Camp David for the G-8 Summit: German Chancellor Angela Merkel, British Prime Minster David Cameron, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper, Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihido Noda, Italian Prime Minister Mario Monti and France’s newly-elected president, Francois Hollande. Russian President Vladimir Putin won’t attend the summit, sending Prime Minister Dmitri Medvedev in his stead. Putin’s absence is widely viewed as a deliberate snub, evidence of worsening U.S.-Russian relations.
The economic crisis that threatens to engulf Europe will be the prime topic of discussion at the G-8, but there isn’t much the United States can do to help. . . .

Please read the whole thing. My plans to visit Thurmont today and check out their preparations has been cancelled, so that I can concentrate on Aaron Worthing’s shocking revelations about the Kimberlin/Rauhauser connection.

Still, I hope to get to Thurmont for the G-8 Friday and Saturday. Frankly, I expect a full-scale riot this weekend. Anyone familiar with the Occupy movement must anticipate vandalism, chaos and mass arrests. Hit the freaking tip jar!

not worried about protests

THURMONT, Md. –
Eight leaders of the world’s largest economies will converge on Camp David this weekend for the 38th annual G-8 Summit, which will likely bring protesters from Baltimore and Washington, D.C.
Caught in the middle of all the hoopla nearby is the small town of Thurmont, where law enforcement have put the final touches on security plans for the G-8 Summit. Area merchants said they hope for a weekend spike in business.
As soon as the Secret Service informed Thurmont Police Chief Greg Eyler that the G-8 Summit would be held at nearby Camp David, Eyler immediately met with other local, state and federal law enforcement to come up with a plan.
“We’ve been meeting every week, and we’ve had special meetings to how we want to handle it and take into consideration crowd management, traffic congestion and so forth. We’ve got our plans together and we’re ready to deal with it,” Eyler said. . . .
Occupy protests are expected. In fact, Eyler has been in touch with a number of them, and the city has agreed they can protest at the Thurmont Community Park.
“They’re going to be peaceful. They just want to present their cause, walk the streets a little bit on the sidewalks and show the people what they are protesting. I don’t think it’s going to be a big issue,” Eyler said.
On Main Street, there didn’t seem to be many worries, for the most part.
“I think it’s going to go fine. It’s going to be really easy, and when they come in — the protestors — if they act up, we just sit back and watch them get arrested and laugh at them,” said Pamela Hamrick, of Hearts and Hands.

Dude. The Greek economy is melting down, threatening to take down the Eurozone with it. President Obama is locked into a dead-heat re-election campaign, trailing in two of the three most recent national polls.

The elite of the international press corps will be coming to Camp David for the G-8 summit and . . .

The Occupy movement is fighting to re-assert its relevance:

OWS has essentially fallen apart. It is not a significant presence on the streets; it is not a significant presence in Democratic Party politics; it is not a significant presence in the national conversation.

OK, so if Occupy Wall Street is now being mocked as “not a significant presence” — a discredited joke, without any purpose or relevance — doesn’t it make sense that this weekend at the G-8, these demented nutjobs will engage in antics so bizarre as to exceed in degenerate criminal absurdity all the bizarre antics of their past?

Yeah, it makes sense that we are sure to witness a harmonic convergence of moonbat decadence this weekend in the tiny mountain town of Thurmont, with the elite of the international press corps on hand to witness whatever weirdness goes down. And I will be among them, covering the entire twisted carnival freak show. Hit the freaking tip jar!

UPDATE: Suppose that you were a farmer in Frederick County, Maryland, and a bunch of dangerous Marxist scum were coming to town. What would you do? Invite them to camp at your farm!

[Occupy Baltimore] was first invited to the town by a local farmer who lives about five miles from downtown Thurmont and offered space on his farm for up to 30 of them to camp, said Beth Emmerling, a group member.
Emmerling said she and another member of the group met with the farmer and local police and talked with local business owners May 2, to reassure them they don’t intend to cause trouble.
“We explained to them we’re completely non-violent, we’re very peaceful, we would have our signs, we would have our chants, and that we’re not even planning on any civil disobedience,” Emmerling said.
“Part of our goal here is to let people see that we’re good people who want good things for everybody, that we’re not looking to come in and cause trouble,” she said.
Emmerling said the farmer hosting the group wants to remain anonymous.
The group is inviting others to join them in their protests.

Yeah, they’re “good people.” Remember, I got caught in the middle of an attempt by Occupy DC to storm the AFP “Defending the Dream” Summit last fall. And I’ve been covering left-wing protests since the anti-IMF/WTO riots of the late 1990s. So they can talk all they want about how “non-violent” they are: Actions speak louder than words.

Every kind of lunatic commie and anarchist you can imagine is liable to show up in Thurmont this weekend, and here’s some news for everyone: Secret Service doesn’t f–k around.

If these Marxist freaks try their usual “civil disobedience” shenanigans, watch out for the guys with wires in their ears.

Occupy Frederick is organizing events in Frederick, Maryland, fifteen minutes from Camp David. Bentz. The event is inclusive of all ages for radicals and residents alike and will include live music, workshops, speakers, face painting and a truly free market. You can see the details here.
Occupy Baltimore is organizing legal, non-violent protests on the public sidewalks in Thurmont, MD on Friday and Saturday (May 18th and 19th) from 8 AM until sundown on both days. People are urged to bring signs, banners, folding chairs, food and drink. Overnight camping is available nearby. Thurmont is located just a few minutes from Camp David off of Route 15.
