THE WAR ON COPS: Police Shot in Tennessee, Georgia and Missouri

Posted on | July 8, 2016 | 54 Comments

Thursday’s attack that killed five police officers in Dallas — inspired by the hate group “Black Lives Matter” — was part of an ongoing wave of violent racial terrorism targeting American law enforcement. In Tennessee, a police officer was wounded Thursday in a gun battle with a man who went on a shooting spree that apparently targeted white people, in which one woman was killed and two other people were injured:

According to the [Tennessee Bureau of Investigation], the shooter was Lakeem Keon Scott, 37, and was armed with at least two weapons including an automatic-style rifle and a pistol and a large amount of ammunition at approximately 2:20 a.m. Thursday when he fired shots through the window of the Days Inn on Volunteer Parkway, striking the clerk.
Scott also appears to have, at some point, fired randomly at several vehicles driving on Volunteer Parkway before being confronted by officers from the Bristol Tennessee Police Department. During that exchange, the investigation shows Scott fired at the three responding officers, after which the officers returned fire, striking Scott, who was then taken to Bristol Regional Medical Center, he remains in serious, but stable, condition.
Jennifer Rooney was killed after being shot in her vehicle on Volunteer Parkway.
Other victims include Deborah Watts, the clerk at Days Inn, who is in serious, but stable condition at Bristol Regional Medical Center.
David Whitman Davis had minor injuries at the scene after being injured by flying glass from the gunfire.
Officer Matthew Cousins was wounded in the leg but has been treated and released from Bristol Regional Medical Center.

An officer was ambushed Friday morning in Georgia:

The GBI says that the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Stephen Paul Beck, called 911 on Friday morning to report a vehicle break-in and then ambushed and fired at the responding officer upon arrival.
A press release from GBI reads:
On Friday, July 08, 2016, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was requested by the Valdosta Police Department to investigate an officer involved shooting incident that occurred at Three Oaks Apartments in Valdosta.
Preliminary information indicates that at approximately 7:54 AM, Valdosta Police Officer Randall Hancock was dispatched to the apartment complex regarding a vehicle break-in and damage to property call. The caller, identified as Stephen Paul Beck, age 22, reported that his car had been broken into and needed police to respond. At approximately 8:12 AM, Officer Hancock arrived at the apartment complex. Upon exiting his patrol car, Officer Hancock was fired upon, striking him at least twice in his protective vest and once beneath the vest in the abdomen area. Officer Hancock returned fire, striking the individual and stopping him from firing at him. The individual was unknown to Officer Hancock at the time of the encounter and it was later determined the individual was Beck, the 911 caller.
Officer Hancock was taken to an area hospital where he was treated and is in stable condition. Beck was also transported to an area hospital where he remains in serious condition.

Another officer was ambushed Friday in a St. Louis suburb:

A Ballwin Police officer was in critical condition after he was shot in the neck during a traffic stop late Friday morning, police said.
The male officer had stopped the car for speeding on northbound New Ballwin Road about 11 a.m., police said. As the officer went back to his car, the driver got out, “advanced quickly” and fired three shots at the officer, police said.
Said St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar: “Make no mistake, we believe that Ballwin officer was ambushed.”
St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Robert McCulloch agreed.
“It was clearly an ambush, an attack,” he said. “There was no confrontation, no argument, no nothing.”
He also said it appeared that one of the shots might have been fired after the officer fell.
The gunman fled north on New Ballwin Road and was captured in Manchester several miles northeast of the shooting scene, after jumping out of the car and running, police said.
A semi-automatic handgun was recovered, according to St. Louis County Police, who are handling the investigation.
The suspect, identified as Antonio Taylor, 31, of the 1200 block of Tower Grove Avenue in St. Louis, was charged with first-degree assault of a law enforcement officer, armed criminal action and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $500,000.
Court documents said Taylor used a .22-caliber gun to shoot the officer. Authorities say he has a lengthy criminal history.

Meanwhile in Dallas, evidence suggests that the terrorist gunman Micah Johnson had been planning anti-police violence for some time:

The brazen attack in downtown Dallas that killed five police officers and injured nine other people was the act of a lone gunman, an Afghanistan veteran drawn to Black Power symbology and a determination to kill white people, authorities concluded Friday.
“This was a mobile shooter that has written manifestos on how to shoot and move. He did that. He did his damage. But we did our damage to him, as well,” Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said after police carefully questioned and ruled out other potential suspects in the Thursday night rampage.
Investigators discovered bomb-making materials, rifles and a “personal journal of combat tactics” in the home of the black former Army reservist who struck during a demonstration against the shooting of two black men by white police officers in Minnesota and Louisiana.
Authorities identified the gunman as Micah Xavier Johnson, 25, a Dallas-area resident, a “loner” with no criminal history who “wanted to kill white people” and “especially white officers,” police said. . . .
Police detonated a bomb robot to kill Johnson after they cornered him in a garage early Friday morning — an unprecedented technique for American law enforcement, but one that troops have used in Iraq to attack targets with mines.
Before his death, Johnson “bantered” with police negotiators, a federal official said, adding that the suspect appeared to have been preparing for the assault, and did not appear nervous. At one point, the gunman had told officials, “The end is coming, and he’s going to hurt and kill more of us,” Dallas Police Chief David Brown said.
“This was a well-planned, well-thought-out, evil tragedy,” the police chief said.

Creating hatred against white people and against police has been the major accomplishing of Black Lives Matter since its inception in 2014, when the liberal media and activists promoted a false narrative surrounding the police shooting of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Missouri, as Heather Mac Donald explains in her recent book The War on Cops: How the New Attack on Law and Order Makes Everyone Less Safe:

After Brown’s death, rioters torched and looted Ferguson businesses. . . .
In the months that followed, the lie that Brown had died in a racially motivated police execution was amplified by the media, college presidents, and the left-wing political class. The newly formed Black Lives Matter movement promoted the notion that black Americans were being hunted down and killed with impunity by renegade white police officers. . . .
Slandered in the media and targeted on the streets, officers reverted to a model of purely reactive policing . . . The inevitable result? Violent crime surged in city after city, as criminals began reasserting themselves — a phenomenon that I and others controversially described as the “Ferguson effect.”

The lies told about the death of Michael Brown were the evil spark that lit the fuse of an explosion of hatred and violence. Innocent people are suffering because cop-haters, race hustlers, cynical Democrat politicians and their henchmen in the liberal media will not tell the truth about crime in America.

It is very easy, in a nation of 320 million people, to find examples of bad things happening — whether it’s rape on college campuses or teachers having sex with students. Yet for many months now, I’ve watched CNN go into 24/7 wall-to-wall coverage mode about shooting incidents that make police seem racist — even though such incidents are actually quite rare. Jim Geraghty of National Review pointed out the actual numbers Thursday morning:

The Washington Post compiled a database of all police shootings in the country and found 990 people were shot dead by police in 2015. Of those, only 93 were unarmed; 38 were black and unarmed. Of the 505 people shot dead by police in 2016 so far, 37 were unarmed; 13 were black and unarmed.

While 990 people being killed by police in one year is a rather frightening number, however, (a) more than 90% of suspects shot were armed, and (b) this is a nation of 320 million people, so that getting shot by police is actually a tiny statistical fraction  — a very rare event. Meanwhile, in Chicago, criminals have shot more than 2,000 people this year, including more than 300 fatal shootings. More that 75% of the victims were black. Only 9 people have been shot by cops in Chicago this year, so the criminals are killing a lot more black people in Chicago than the police are, and this is true everywhere. However, the hate group Black Lives Matter isn’t interested in facts, they’re interested in creating more hatred.

Professor Donald Douglas at American Power writes:

Frankly, years ago I compared the contemporary American radical left to the Baader-Meinhof Group from the 1970s. Bob Schieffer was on CBS This Morning today, and he asked the $64,000 question: Was the Dallas suspect part of a larger organized movement? He may not have been, but I suspect that we’re likely to see an escalation of deliberate, organized violence to match the vicious calculation and brutality seen in Dallas last night.

The Baader-Meinhof Gang aka “Red Army Faction” was a Marxist group in Germany that more or less invented modern terrorism. That this kind of comparison is being made to the American Left tells you just how far downhill our nation has gone in recent years. It’s bad and getting worse. In Dallas, the cop-hating terrorist Micah Johnson killed Officer Patrick Zamarripam, who had survived three tours of Iraq.

Forever Young

Posted on | July 8, 2016 | 13 Comments

Did I ever mention my wife is beautiful? That photo of us back in the day, when Mrs. McCain was so skinny (and I had so much hair) is one of those images that I occasionally enjoy sharing, just to remind everybody that (a) I wasn’t always an old guy, and (b) my wife is sexy.

Aging gracefully is a challenge because, in our own minds, we are forever young, carrying with us the memory of who we previously were — that young long-haired rock-and-roll dude? That’s me! It is difficult, when we are old, to convince young people that we know what it is to be young.

People ask us, “What’s your secret of staying so sexy?” And we explain that it helps to start with an unusually high level of sexiness, so that even when you decline (slightly) you’re still way above average.

Another secret is to have babies. Lots and lots of babies. Making babies is fun, and having lots of children helps keep you young. However, young couples should be aware that, once you get three or four kids, people will notice and make comments about the size of your family. People used to notice the size of our family and say, “You know what causes that, right?” To which I’d answer, “Yes, and we’re very good at it.”

Another favorite response to remarks about our larger-than-average family is to tell them about our Victory Through Breeding™ Program, the plan to establish McCain global domination by the 24th century. Suppose that our six children have four children each. That would mean 24 grandchildren by about 2045 and, if this average of four children each could be maintained in subsequent generations, there would be 96 great-grandchildren by 2090, and then 384 great-great-grandchildren by 2135. By 2225, there would be more than 6,000 direct descendants, to say nothing at all of the wives, husbands, aunts, uncles, and cousins via marriage. It’s simple arithmetic, really, and our worldwide hegemony is not only possible, but may even be inevitable. However, this isn’t a subject people expect to hear about in casual conversation, and you should see the reactions when I tell people with great enthusiasm that our family is planning to take over the world.

Pinky: “Gee, Brain, what do you want to do tonight?”
Brain: “The same thing we do every night, Pinky — try to take over the world!”

Why bother with small ambitions? Dreaming big is fun, and if you’re going to do something, you might as well have fun doing it. Making babies is fun, and watching them grow up is also fun. The June wedding of our son was one of those occasions when our family was united to welcome a new addition, and I promised readers more photos of the occasion.

The ceremony — notice best man Jim with his son James, the ringbearer.

The smiling bride gets a kiss from the groom.

Entering the reception, Jim, as best man, escorts the maid of honor.

Mrs. McCain gets a selfie with her newly married son.

Eldest daughter Kennedy and youngest son Emerson.

Fashionista daughter Reagan and her stylish hat.

Three Mrs. McCains — my wife with her two daughters-in-law.

As you can see, McCain Generation 2.0 is a fine-looking bunch. Go ahead and laugh at our plans for global domination. So far, so good.

DALLAS SHOOTER MICAH JOHNSON: Did #BlackLivesMatter Inspire Terrorist?

Posted on | July 8, 2016 | 60 Comments

Hatred of police and white people inspired mass murderer Micah Johnson’s terrorist attack in Dallas that killed five police officers and wounded seven others. Dallas Police Chief David Brown said at a press conference Friday morning that, during a standoff with police, Johnson specifically mentioned the anti-police group “Black Lives Matter”:

A gunman “upset about Black Lives Matter” and “recent police shootings” who opened fire Thursday night in Dallas, killing five police officers and wounding seven others, has been identified as Micah X. Johnson, the Los Angeles Times and CBS News report.
Two civilians were also wounded in the shootings. Johnson, 25, was killed when a police robot detonated a bomb near him following a standoff that lasted several hours, Police Chief David Brown said Friday at a press conference.
“The suspect said he was upset with white people and wanted to kill white people, especially white officers,” Brown said.

Critics have accused the Black Lives Matter movement of being a hate group that exploits and incites racial animosity. Fanatical supporters of Black Lives Matter flooded Twitter with anti-police messages after Thursday’s shooting, calling for even more violence against police.

“This is the war that Black Lives Matter asked for,” David Horowitz said Thursday night after the deadly attack in Dallas, later asking: “Do you think we have a domestic terrorist threat from the left?”

The anti-police ideology of “Black Lives Matter has historical roots in the radical Left, investigative journalist Matthew Vadum reports:

The ambush-style mass shooting of cops in Dallas, Texas, last night makes it clear that it is time for the dangerous, anti-American insurgency called Black Lives Matter to be designated a terrorist organization for fomenting a war against the nation’s law enforcement officers.
The officers were killed during a demonstration in downtown Dallas against police brutality that leftists say is directed at black Americans as a matter of government policy. . . .
Of course, murdering police officers has long been encouraged by activists with the Black Lives Matter cult, with the support of the activist Left. A year ago Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan, who openly advocates the mass murder of whites, called for “10,000 fearless men” to “rise up and kill those who kill us.” Like many radicals, Farrakhan mischaracterizes Black Lives Matter as a rising civil rights movement.
President Barack Obama, who a decade ago promoted inter-racial warfare in Kenya, has long tried to provoke civil unrest here in the U.S. with his hateful anti-cop rhetoric and his relentless demonization of opponents. His goal is fundamental transformation of the United States. A Red diaper baby who identifies violence-espousing communist Frantz Fanon as an intellectual influence, he has also steadfastly refused to condemn the explicitly racist, violent Black Lives Matter movement. In fact Obama has lavished attention on the movement’s leaders and invited them to the White House over and over again.
Members of the Democratic National Committee expressly endorsed Black Lives Matter, throwing their lot in with black racists and radical Black Power militants. The DNC officially embraced a statement that slams the U.S. for allegedly systemic police violence against black people. A resolution passed by hundreds of delegates at the DNC meeting in Minneapolis last year accuses the nation’s police of “extrajudicial killings of unarmed African American men, women and children.”
The Left persists in these lies because, well, that’s what these people do.
According to one analysis, of all the people shot and killed in the U.S. by police so far in 2016, only 24 percent, or 122, were black. Black people are only about 13 percent of the population but they commit around half of all violent crimes. So far this year 47 percent of people shot and killed by police, or 235 individuals, were white.
Only 3 percent, or 13 people shot and killed by police year to date were black and unarmed. The percentage for whites is exactly the same. In other words, police are shooting and killing unarmed blacks and whites at the same rate, Paul Joseph Watson observes.
“There’s no racial disparity,” he says. “Do we have a problem with police brutality in America? Yes, undoubtedly. Is it almost exclusively targeted towards black people as Black Lives Matter claims? No, but the polarizing way in which Black Lives Matter made it all about race has divided the nation and made half of the country completely disinterested.” . . .

DALLAS SHOOTING: Five Reported Dead in ‘Military-Style’ Sniper Attack

Posted on | July 8, 2016 | 16 Comments

The latest this morning:

Eleven police officers were shot ambush-style, including five fatally, in Dallas Thursday night by at least two snipers, amid a protest against the recent police shootings of two black men, Alton Sterling in Louisiana, and Philando Castile in Minnesota, according to the Dallas Police.
One of the suspects had engaged in a standoff for several hours with police, but a Dallas city official announced around 3:30 a.m. that it was over. That suspect is now dead, Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said.
“Our explosives took him down,” he told “Good Morning America” today.
“He was cornered in a garage and wouldn’t give up and we sent in explosives for that.”
The conditions of the six wounded officers weren’t immediately released. One civilian was also injured.
Officials said there are three suspects in custody and police are still investigating a motive for the attack.
“I can tell you they’re being pretty tight-lipped at this point,” Rawlings said of the three suspects.

There has been wild speculation about this incident — radio talk-show hosts blaming “white supremacists” — and people were shocked by video of a confrontation in which one of the snipers, wielding a rifle and apparently wearing body armor, fatally shot a police officer.

UPDATE: Dallas Police Chief David O. Brown, in a press conference this morning, said that one suspect was cornered and killed after a long negotiation. During the negotiation, Brown said, the suspect invoked “Black Lives Matters,” told police he “hated white people” and wanted to kill white people, especially white police officers.

UPDATE II: Hateful tweets from haters:

Twitter doesn’t suspend people for messages about hating cops and white people. You’ve got to offend a feminist to get suspended from Twitter.

UPDATE III: Our irresponsible President made an irresponsible Facebook statement yesterday, blaming “racial disparities” for the “lack of trust that exists between law enforcement and too many of the communities they serve.” Well, who should we blame for these “disparities”? Elected officials, perhaps? Democrats, perhaps?

REPORT: Dallas Police Officers Shot; UPDATE: Four Officers Reported Dead

Posted on | July 7, 2016 | 14 Comments

This news started breaking about a half-hour ago:

Two Dallas police officers have been shot in downtown Dallas, an officer at the scene tells NBC 5.
The extent of their injuries are not known.
The shootings took place as a rally and march in downtown was ending that showed solidarity for communities affected by officer-involved shootings this week in Louisiana and Minnesota.
Several hundred people gathered at Belo Garden Park in Dallas, and marched to the Old Red Courthouse near Main and Market streets, where the rally ended just before the shots rang out nearby at about 9 p.m. [10 p.m. ET]

UPDATE 11:20 p.m. ET: More details:

A witness told CBS11 that he heard multiple gunshots fire off and confirmed at least two police officers were shot.
“Whoever was shooting had an assault rifle — and I know guns. The shots were in rapid succession,” he said. . . .
Police searched for a suspect or suspects with rifles in a parking garage at Griffin and Lamar in downtown Dallas immediately after the shooting. . . .
A witness standing outside of Baylor Hospital in Dallas saw one of the wounded officers arrive at the ER.
“We were about two blocks away when we saw a cop car with a bullet hole in the door riding on its rims past us,” he said.

There are reports of dozens of shots fired. The protesters, apparently organized by the “Black Lives Matter” movement, scattered in panic.

UPDATE 11:30 p.m. ET: The initial report was that two officers were shot. Now at least four are reported shot, one fatally.

DART is Dallas Area Rapid Transit.

UPDATE 11:45 p.m. ET: The latest report is that a total of at least 10 officers were shot, three of whom are dead. Two snipers are reportedly responsible.

UPDATE 8:15 a.m. ET Friday: The report this morning is that 11 were shot, of whom four are dead. Three suspects are in custody, and one suspect reportedly committed suicide.

UPDATE 8:50 a.m. ET Friday: Five Reported Dead in ‘Military-Style’ Sniper Attack

Who Cares About America’s Future?

Posted on | July 7, 2016 | 9 Comments

My share of the population is exactly one, and so is yours. However, I have six children, a son-in-law, two daughters-in-law and two grandchildren, so that my personal stake in the future is rather substantial. Brian Tashman, who writes for the left-wing site run by the perversely misnamed “People for the American Way” worked himself into a fear frenzy Thursday because Pat Buchanan wrote this sentence:

“White America has begun to die.”

What a hatefully hatey thing for a hater to say!

Except of course, it’s true, as Buchanan demonstrates:

America is already evolving into another country. Though the U.S. is projected to grow by 67 million people in 35 years, this growth will be wholly among Hispanics, Asians and African-Americans. In each of the past four years, non-Hispanic white Americans have registered more deaths than births.
Between July 2014 and July 2015, the Asian-American population grew by 3.4 percent, and the Hispanic population grew 2.2 percent. The black population was up 1.3 percent. But the white population grew by only 0.1 percent.

The numbers cited by Buchanan come from that notorious hate group, the Census Bureau, and the right-wing extremists at the United Nations.

It’s 2016. Facts are hate now, and no one can even mention white people except to denounce them for being white. The decadent intellectual elite (including Brian Tashman) are mostly white, but they are also Democrats, and because most white people in America vote for Republican, the intellectual elite now use “white” as a pejorative epithet.

The long-term consequences of the elite’s decadence, however, will not affect their children and grandchildren, because most of the intellectual elite don’t even have children. Intellectual elite women have abortions, not babies, and most intellectual elite men are gay. The decadent elite who are destroying America don’t care about what happens after America is gone. This is why liberal journalism is a sort of daily suicide note for Western civilization. The elite hate America. They hate you and they hate your children, too. This is why the elite are doing everything possible to ensure that the future of America is no future at all.

(Hat-tip: Memeorandum.)
