The $10 Answer: Phyllis Schlafly
Posted on | September 17, 2015 | 74 Comments
When the Republican presidential candidates were asked in Wednesday’s CNN debate which woman they would choose to replace Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill, I was disappointed with their answers. Ben Carson said his mother, Mike Huckabee said his wife and Jeb Bush named Margaret Thatcher, while Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump seemed to agree on Rosa Parks.
Gentlemen, you are Republicans and you were debating at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. Didn’t the name of the most important Republican woman of the 20th century cross your mind?
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, whose 1964 book A Choice Not an Echo became a bestseller and was widely credited with rallying conservatives behind Barry Goldwater’s presidential campaign.
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, who brilliantly organized conservative women in the 1970s and ’80s to defeat the Equal Rights Amendment.
Yes — Phyllis Schlafly, whose Eagle Forum is to this day one of the most effective grassroots conservative organizations in America. Didn’t it occur to any of these Republican candidates that, if they had named Phyllis Schlafly to be on the $10 bill, they might have instantly won for themselves the loyalty of many thousands of conservative women across the country? Especially among social conservative voters in Iowa, and among voters old enough to remember the Goldwater and Reagan campaigns, the name Phyllis Schlafly still possesses a special magic.
That was a missed opportunity.
I don’t think we should change the $10 (nor, as some have suggested, the $20), but when Republicans miss a chance to praise Phyllis Schlafly, it bespeaks an ignorance of their own party’s history — or perhaps an unfortunate ingratitude for Mrs. Schlafly’s accomplishments.
Why Do Feminists Hate Sex Robots?
Posted on | September 16, 2015 | 185 Comments
Professor Kathleen Richardson wants to ban sex robots.
In the zero-sum-game worldview of feminism, anything that makes men happy is bad. Kathleen Richardson, a professor at De Montfort University in England, is afraid that having sex with robots will make men happy:
“Sex robots seem to be a growing focus in the robotics industry and the models that they draw on — how they will look, what roles they would play — are very disturbing indeed,” she told the BBC.
She believes that they reinforce traditional stereotypes of women and the view that a relationship need be nothing more than physical.
“We think that the creation of such robots will contribute to detrimental relationships between men and women, adults and children, men and men and women and women,” she said.
Notice that Dr. Richardson is only worried about how these robots would affect “traditional” stereotypes of women, whereas stereotypes of men are evidently not at all “disturbing” to her. While I am also against robot sex — it’s just plain creepy — I might change my mind if scientists could program these robots to make sandwiches.
We wouldn’t want feminist professors to make sandwiches, would we?
That would be “very disturbing indeed.”

The Nyberg #GamerGate Saga Continues: DARVO Tactics and the ‘Streisand Effect’
Posted on | September 15, 2015 | 26 Comments
Friday, Milo Yiannopoulos published a lengthy examination of Sarah Nyberg’s pedophile-themed online chats. These conversations, which occurred circa 2005-2006, involved Nyberg (a male-to-female transsexual) expressing sexual attraction to his/”her” young female relative. At the time, Nyberg was earning a lucrative income as proprietor of a forum devoted to discussion of a videogame called “Final Fantasy.” In 2014, however, Nyberg became an outspoken critic of the #GamerGate movement:
[Nyberg] tried to shut down funding for the website 8chan.net, which had supported #GamerGate, by falsely accusing them of hosting child pornography. However, he/she failed to anticipate the reaction, i.e., that the people he/she had attacked would figure out who he/she actually was, connect the dots, and expose [Nyberg’s] unsavory background. . . .
He/she had attempted to deprive the proprietors of 8chan.net of their right to free speech and had falsely accused them of a very serious crime in an attempt to cut off their funding or otherwise drive their site offline. . . .
It was this anti-free-speech campaign, part of a “Social Justice Warrior” (SJW) battle against #GamerGate, which (a) made “Sarah Butts” a public figure, and (b) inspired the question, “Who is ‘Sarah Butts’?”
You can read the rest of that Aug. 8 post from my blog, which was explaining why my Twitter account had been temporarily suspended. It was apparent that Twitter support staff were assisting Nyberg in an attempt to suppress certain facts about Nyberg’s past, including his/”her” original name. Why? Well, at one point in the chat log discussions, Nyberg indicates that police had seized one of his/”her” computers, and Nyberg referred to an encrypted hard drive containing material related to Nyberg’s pedophile interests. We might speculate that, if the police who reportedly investigated Nyberg in 2005 only knew Nybergs male name, then concealing that name could prevent law enforcement from connecting all the dots. In this scenario, it would not be merely Nyberg’s reputation as a “Social Justice Warrior” that was at stake in concealing his/”her” male identity, but also this concealment would shield Nyberg from renewed law-enforcement scrutiny.
Or so we might speculate.
Beyond mere speculation, however, was the reality that people were being silenced for writing about Nyberg’s shady past, and Nyberg was using an obvious trick to posture as a victim of injustice:
It appears Ms. Nyberg is leveraging friendships with Twitter support personnel in order to delete any mention of Ms. Nyberg’s male past and male name. You will call Ms. Nyberg “Sarah” on Twitter or else you will be shut down. . . .
DARVO — Deny, Attack, Reverse Victim and Offender — it’s a rather well-documented tactic, and when I see people (a) with sexual idiosyncracies (b) allying themselves with a “social justice” movement and (c) claiming that people who tell the truth about them are “bullies,” my suspicion is (d) they’re just angry their shady hustle got busted and (e) they’re trying to exploit sympathy by (f) posing as a victim.
You can read the rest of that, which was posted after my Twitter account was suspended for the second time within three days. At that time I warned that this would likely lead to a “Streisand Effect,” wherein efforts to hide online information have the opposite effect, calling new attention to whatever information a person is trying to conceal. This warning proved prophetic. People began looking closely at what Nyberg wanted to suppress and, barely three weeks later on Aug. 30, a YouTube video presented the most damaging evidence against Nyberg. This video, in turn, caused Milo Yiannopoulos to write his article about Nyberg at Breitbart.com, an article for which Yiannopoulos interviewed the parents of the girl who was reportedly the object of Nyberg’s pedophiliac interest a decade ago. According to Yiannopoulos, the parents were willing to seek a new law enforcement investigation of Nyberg who, just coincidentally, is also reported to owe $100,000 in delinquent taxes.
It is not wild-eyed speculation, but ordinary common sense, to say that someone who acts like they’re trying to hide something may actually have something to hide. And in response to Yiannopoulos’s article, Nyberg published a genuinely fascinating counter-attack that elaborately manifests the DARVO tactics I’ve described. Whereas some of Nyberg’s defenders had previously claimed the chat logs were forgeries, Nyberg instead (a) admits the chat logs were authentic, but claims (b) that these chats were a sort of facetious or ironic satire and (c) implies the chat log transcripts were obtained illegally, so that (d) it is Nyberg’s critics who, by illegally obtaining information, were the real criminals.
No matter what the facts are, an SJW is always prepared to play the martyred victim.

This is a classic example of DARVO tactics. Nyberg uses all kinds of rationalization and smokescreening to explain away the known facts, to delegitimize critical scrutiny, diverting attention away from the obvious questions about Nyberg’s behavior, toward those who have exposed Nyberg, portraying them as wrongdoers.
How will this story end? I don’t know. Perhaps it’s all a bunch of noise about nothing and, if that’s the case, interest in Nyberg may just slowly fade away. On the other hand, we have the example of a notorious troll known online as “Nick Bate” who claimed on April 19 to have been exonerated by a criminal investigation, only to be arrested a week later:
Nickalaus B. Stoutzenberger, 23, was charged Wednesday [i.e., April 26] with one count of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, and three counts of indecent assault of a child.
The alleged sex assaults occurred in Washington Boro in 2009 to 2010 when the female victim was between 5 and 7 years old, according to Manor Township police.
Stoutzenberger was arraigned before District Judge Joshua Keller, and sent to Lancaster County Prison in lieu of $150,000 bail.
Sometimes bad things happen to people like that.

Someone Told Me The Idea That Life Starts When One’s Information Is Complete Is “Mythology”

The Devil’s mythology believed:
“Life starts *after* one’s conceived”
By a mystic moment received
At some judge’s behest.
It’s true there is no “standing” room
When one’s gestating in the womb
But is that space just so much tomb
Based on a legal test?
For those with the hardened hearts
Conception hunting season starts
Selling offspring for the parts
In our “enlightened” West?
God have mercy on these souls
Blighted by the murder’s tolls
As on to Hell a holocaust rolls
While they make it a jest.
Let the conscience be the guide
Before man’s essence goes inside
Adding to humanity’s tide
The truth remains the best.
What Happened at Delta State?
Posted on | September 14, 2015 | 24 Comments
Shannon Lamb, 45, had recently completed his doctorate degree at Delta State University in Cleveland, Mississppi, where he also taught online courses. Monday, according to police, Lamb murdered his live-in girlfriend, Amy Prentiss, 41, at the home they shared in Gautier, Mississippi, then drove 300 miles to the Delta State campus, where he murdered history professor Ethan Schmidt.
Police have not publicly said what the motive was, but a friend of Prentiss shared a private Facebook message she had sent, saying that Lamb had “issues.” What issues did he have? I don’t know, but you have to wonder why a guy in his mid-40s would be pursuing a doctorate.
Lamb has worked at the university for seven years, according to his online profile at the school. He is a 2003 graduate of Delta State University, and earned a Masters of Education in 2007 and a Doctor of Education degree at DSU in 2014.
His listed areas of expertise include geography of crime, economic geography, social science education and testing.
Before teaching in college, Lamb was a high school math teacher at Murrah High School in Jackson, Mississippi and Greenville-Weston High School in Greenville, Mississippi,
Wait a minute: He was 45 but only got his bachelors degree in 2003? His doctorate was in education, but he was teaching geography? He is a former high-school math teacher? This is not your typical academic resumé. Whatever the story behind Lamb’s motive, I’m gonna guess it will turn out to be pretty weird.
UPDATE: The New York Times reports:
A professor at Delta State University who was suspected of fatally shooting his companion and then another professor at the school was found dead Monday night, apparently with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The suspect, Shannon S. Lamb, who taught geography and social science education at the university, was pulled over around 10:30 p.m. by the local police in Greenville, Miss., about 35 miles to the west of the campus in Cleveland, Miss., the university’s police chief, Lynn Buford, said in a phone interview early Tuesday.
According to Chief Buford, Dr. Lamb ran into a wooded area. The local police followed him and, while waiting for backup, heard a gunshot. They found Dr. Lamb, who was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.
This was perhaps predictable, and Lamb’s suicide means we may never know the full story behind his crimes.

Did a Democrat Candidate Harass a Democrat Woman in Toledo?
Posted on | September 13, 2015 | 38 Comments
This is a genuinely strange story:
A woman has gone to Facebook to accuse former Mayor Mike Bell of inappropriately touching her at a Toledo bar Friday night, allegations Mr. Bell denies.
Allison Dow, 29, of Toledo’s Old West End, said Mr. Bell made an unwelcome sexual comment and touched her buttocks late Friday at Wesley’s Bar & Grill on Adams Street in downtown Toledo.
Ms. Dow put her outraged reaction on Facebook, calling Mr. Bell, 60, “a perverted old man.”
Mr. Bell, who is running for mayor again, on Tuesday denied the allegations, suggesting a political motive.
Ms. Dow is a former office manager for the Lucas County Democratic Party, which has endorsed Paula Hicks-Hudson for the job Mr. Bell is seeking.
“I was standing at the bar ordering a drink and someone came up behind me and put his hand on my lower back and whispers, ‘If you stand up on your tiptoes in that dress, me and my friends will pass out,’ and he lowered his hand to my butt,” Ms. Dow told The Blade Tuesday.
“He pulled that same move with several other people at that bar,” she said.
You can read the whole thing. Apparently, nobody believes Ms. Dow is a victim of anything. Ms. Bell is a bachelor with something of a reputation as a ladies’ man, and Ms. Dow . . .
Well, as an undergraduate at the University of Toledo, Ms. Dow was active in “Spectrum,” a gay student organization.
So, a Democrat guy in a bar allegedly makes a pass at a Democrat girl who just isn’t into Democrat guys. Or any other guys.
Not much of a scandal, really. Mr. Bell denies everything, but even if it were true, so what? Is it against the law in Toledo for guys in bars to behave the way guys behave in bars? Is this an issue in the Toledo mayoral campaign?
Put it this way: If it’s a career-destroying scandal for a Democrat to make “an unwelcome sexual comment” to a woman, maybe we should discuss the career of Hillary Clinton’s husband.
