Apologies for the lack of posts lately; I thought I was feeling better, but I thought wrong.
Also, the widget that schedules posts is still upgefickt, so no Live at Five posts until that gets unwedged.
Also also, no CPAC for me this year; the ACU turned down my request for media credentials. Welp.

But It’s Not About Hate

“If you want to see the consequences of deinstitutionalizing the mentally ill,” I explained a couple weeks ago, “go to Tumblr.com and search for ‘feminism.'” Exactly why Tumblr is such a fetid swamp of virulent ideological insanity, I’m not sure, but in November 2014, Elliot (a “third generation asian american (japanese). polyamorous and panromantic” college student in Boston) wrote this:

“hands up if middle aged white men scare you more than anyone else”

Explanation? Who needs explanations for this kind of fear in 2015? Young people have been “carefully taught” (to borrow, with no deliberate irony, the words of an old Rodgers and Hammerstein song) whom they should fear, and no factual justification is needed. Elliot’s denunciation was reblogged on Tumblr by “Social Work Grad Students” who added:

Second place goes to early twenties white men

Then Klaudia weighed in:

let’s be real, teenage white boys in groups are the most terrifying, with the runner up being violently drunk college frat boys

Finally, Ashleigh in Sydney, Australia, added:

all of the above

Really? Do any of them bother to explain this reign of terror imposed by white males? No, they merely parrot what they have been taught — white males are agents of universal oppression — with the expectation that everyone will nod in enthusiastic agreement. And more than 200,000 Tumblr contributors have liked or reblogged Elliot’s words.

You can dismiss such hateful rhetoric as “just a bunch of idiots on the Internet,” but in the 1930s, some dismissed Mein Kampf as “just a book by a disgruntled Austrian painter.”

‘The True Peaceful Nature of Islam’

Posted on | February 18, 2015 | 44 Comments

That phrase appears in an op-ed column President Obama published in the Los Angeles Times. Perhaps our president hasn’t been paying close attention for the past 30 or 40 years, but it seems to me that the Muslims who want to kill or enslave us all might disagree about the “true peaceful nature” of their religion. More wisdom from our president:

Governments that deny human rights play into the hands of extremists who claim that violence is the only way to achieve change. Efforts to counter violent extremism will only succeed if citizens can address legitimate grievances through the democratic process and express themselves through strong civil societies.

Katie Pavlich:

What, exactly, does Obama mean when he says “legitimate grievances”? The grievances Al Qaeda and ISIS hold are against infidels and Muslims who don’t go far enough to wage jihad on the West.

Muslims want to kill or enslave us all. This is the “true nature” of Islam. It’s in the Koran. That’s their “grievance.” Period.

Walter Russell Mead:

Lots of tenured professors want to believe that all is well in a university system that works pretty well for them. But as it exists now, the Ph.D. system in this country urgently needs to be pruned back — especially in the social sciences and the humanities. . . .
Tenure track jobs are getting harder, not easier to find. . . .
For millennials, some important advice: If you can’t get into a top Ph.D. program, you should seriously rethink your life plan. Getting a subprime Ph.D. is one of the surest ways to accumulate debt and unhappiness, leaving you bitter and poor. The top schools will probably be fine, but the Grim Reaper is headed toward some second- and third-tier Ph.D. programs near you, and he’s moving faster than you think.

“Dost thou love life? then do not squander time; for that is the stuff life is made of.”
Benjamin Franklin

Time is most often squandered when we are young by postponing adulthood in favor of the irresponsibility of extended adolescence. Laura Triggs doesn’t think postponing adulthood is wise:

Take it from someone who spent all of her twenties dating. Finding lasting love is the best. If you’re in your twenties today and want true love someday, why wait? Start dating like a grown-up now and you are more likely to end up with one when the time is right.

‘She Could Be the Victim’

Nicole Dufault likes young boys, allegedly:

A Maplewood (N.J.) teacher has been indicted on charges of sexually assaulting six male students, Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray announced today.
Nicole Dufault, 35, of Caldwell, was indicted on 40 counts of aggravated sexual assault and endangering the welfare of a child, according to a press release from the prosecutor’s office.
Dufault was arrested and charged in September with engaging in sex acts with five male students, but by the time the case was presented to the grand jury, a sixth victim had been identified, prosecutors said. . . .
Dufault, a Bloomfield native, has been a language arts teacher at Columbia High School for nine years, prosecutors said. . . .
A single mother of two young sons, Dufault is accused of engaging in sexual activity with the six students on multiple occasions between 2013 and 2014, prosecutors said. Some of the sex acts occurred on school property and in her car, prosecutors said.
The victims were between 14 and 15 years old at the time of the incidents, prosecutors said.
The evidence against Dufault allegedly includes a video of her performing oral sex on one of the victims, according to Essex County Assistant Prosecutor Gina Iosim, who is handling the case. The video shows Dufault performing the sex act on one of the victims while another victim is present, Iosim said. . . .
Following a Sept. 26 hearing, Dufault’s attorney, Timothy Smith, said “sometimes a video…doesn’t tell the entire story,” and suggested that Dufault could be the victim.
“If the video depicts certain things happening…that doesn’t mean that my client’s not innocent,” said Smith, adding that “for example, she could be the victim.”

Yeah. Good luck convincing the jury your client is a “victim.” Elsewhere in New Jersey, another teacher has been suspended after a 911 call from a worried mom sent police to her house:

A first-grade Edison schoolteacher was arrested and charged with child endangerment after an alleged booze party at her home led to life-threatening levels of intoxication for a 15-year-old.
Tracey Harding, 50, of South Brunswick, was arrested after the Friday night bash, police said. . . .
Officers arrived on scene to find the 15-year-old “semi-responsive and heavily intoxicated,” according to police. Several other teens were in the house, police said.
The boy was taken to Saint Peter’s University Hospital by the Monmouth Junction First Aid Squad.
The teens had been drinking vodka, beer and other alcohol, police said. The 15-year-old boy’s blood alcohol level was at life-threatening levels. He was released from the hospital after a few hours.

Public school teachers are a menace to society.

UPDATE: An investigation by the Associated Press “found 2,570 educators whose teaching credentials were revoked, denied, surrendered or sanctioned from 2001 through 2005 following allegations of sexual misconduct.”

An Infinite Rainbow of Oppression

Sarah Deragon (@identityproj) is a feminist and a lesbian, but I repeat myself. Tuesday, I posted a series of “Queer Feminism” headlines from EverydayFeminism.com to illustrate the extent to which the feminist movement has become obsessed with perverse sexuality. One of the headlines I included was this:

Powerful Photos Fearlessly Redefine
What It Means to Be LGBTQIA+

Because I was just linking headlines, I didn’t click to see the “Powerful Photos” until after I’d posted the article and commenters began pointing out what a weird series of photographs Sarah Deragon (who labels herself “Queer Femme”) had compiled there. A few of the labels:

“Fat Fierce Queer Femme”
“Queer Femme Jock”
“Trans Femme Genderqueer”
“Plus Sized Polyamorous Pansexual”
“Old School Dyke Leather Butch”
“Fat Queer Indigenous Femme”
“Poly Fag Queermo”
“Sassy Switch Femmeboi”
“Fierce Queer Xicana Femme”
“Queer Femme Psychic”

Go take a look at this collection of weirdness, which inspires the question, Is “Carnival Sideshow Freak” a gender identity yet?

This is “Everyday Feminism” in 2015. Welcome to the Obama Age, where “normal” is the problem and “queer”  is the solution.

Two Sex Scandals You Missed

Posted on | February 17, 2015 | 52 Comments

The liberal media generally ignore sex scandals unless they involve a Republican politician or a Catholic priest, so maybe you didn’t hear about Mohammad Abdullah Saleem, the Illinois imam who allegedly perpetrated “decades of assault and child sex abuse . . . within the community of Indian and Pakistani Muslim immigrants.”

Does this reveal a “war on women”? Is there a “rape culture” among Muslims? Of course not! Saleem is not a Catholic priest or a Republican politician — he’s not even a college fraternity member — and therefore his alleged perversion is entirely random.

The same is true of Tony Jones, a leader of the “Emergent Church” movement that embraces postmodern progressivism: “In 2010 Jones encouraged Minnesota clergy to stop performing legal marriages, as a show of solidarity with LGBT people who could not be legally married in the state at that time.” This heretical theology appears to be a sort of hipster universalism, salt that has lost its savor (Matthew 5:13) and has become “conformed to this world” (Romans 12:2).

Tony Jones became a progressive religious celebrity, touring like a rock star on the “emergent” speaking circuit while his marriage was falling apart. If we are to believe the allegations of his ex-wife, Julie McMahon, Tony Jones developed a pornography habit and “starting in 2007, Mr. Jones began asking her repeatedly for sexual behaviors she found repellent, including anal sex.” Of course, this is the progressive gospel of “emergent” theology: “Thou shalt watch porn and do it in the butt.”

Documents relating to the Jones-McMahon divorce depict Jones as a manipulative narcissist who, in order to justify his own behavior, resorted to “gaslighting” his wife, accusing her of mental illness. He threatened to sue her for defamation if she went public about his affair with his mistress, whom he subsequently married. You can call that whatever you want, but you can’t call it Christian leadership.

As with the Chicago imam, however, the misbehavior of a progressive pastor is just random. Such scandals are never part of a “pattern of abuse” that journalists can use to indict entire institutions like the Catholic church or the Republican Party. It’s like sexual harassment by atheist men — nothing to see here, move along.
