Gary Herndon: ‘Model Citizen’
Posted on | June 13, 2013 | 56 Comments
Readers will recall that the attorney for accused sex offender Kaitlyn Hunt called her client a “model citizen.” And readers may also recall the evidence that the term “model citizen” apparently has a very flexible definition for “Free Kate” supporters:
“Beat her f**king ass, Emily! Beat her ass! Get that bitch!”
Bad causes attract bad people and yesterday I called attention to Gary M. Herndon of Charlotte, N.C., as exemplifying “The #FreeKate Criminal Caucus.” The aforesaid Herndon took exception to that characterization, claiming that the charges were dropped, yadda, yadda, yadda, and threatening legal action against me.
OK, would it surprise you to learn that Gary M. Herndon of Charlotte, N.C., was arrested at least four times between August 2009 and December 2011? The mug shots for each arrest:
Dec. 7, 2011: Contempt of Court
There seems to be some error in the online records at Mugshots.com, as there are two different mug shots for arrests that the site records as occuring on the same day. But at any rate, so far as we know, Gary M. Herndon of Charlotte, N.C., was entirely innocent of all the crimes with which he was charged. Perhaps there was a conspiracy to frame him for stalking, trespassing, etc., and it may be that, except for this unfortunate two-year streak of arrests, Gary M. Herndon of Charlotte, N.C., has lived an entirely law-abiding life of unimpeachable rectitude.
His support for legalizing sex with 14-year-olds is therefore just what we can expect of such a model citizen, IYKWIMAITYD.
Hey, did I mention that Gary M. Herndon is an Obama supporter?
UPDATE: Readers will notice that Gary M. Herndon has decided that he has the right to comment at this blog, and that if any of his comments are deleted, this proves . . . he’s right!
Also, if I call attention to the arrest record of Gary M. Herndon, he implies, this proves that I am in the throes of an “obsession.”
Uh, no.
When I began covering the Kaitlyn Hunt saga May 22, this story was all over the news; the Hunt family actually got interviewed on the Today show. With the able assistance of many others, I steadily dismantled the lies and sophistry from which liberals had assembled the bogus narrative that portrayed Kaitlyn Hunt as a victim. And those who had jumped aboard the “Free Kate” bandwagon then either (a) recognized that they had been bamboozled, or (b) rationalized the situation to defend their emotional investment in the cause.
OK, fine — huddle inside the fact-free No Logic Allowed Zone where the Hunt family and their sympathizers tell you that their sweet little Kate did nothing wrong and that their attempt to overturn Florida’s-age of-consent law is not dangerous. Yet the “Free Kate” crowd is not content with that, and so we see people like Gary M. Herndon engaging in online attacks against Matthew Mason, Jeanette Runyon and others who have been part of the pushback against the Hunt family’s misleading victimhood narrative.
Notice that Gary M. Herndon, who was accused of trespassing and stalking, seems to think that the proprietors of Web sites do not have the right to decide who can participate in the discussion of the comments field. This involves a concept I’ve called “troll rights” — that people who hate you have the right to use your own bandwidth to stalk and harass you. (Please see my April 7 post, “Bill Schmalfeldt, Violentacrez, Barrett Brown and the Scourge of ‘Troll Rights’.”)
A characteristic attribute of the online behavior of sociopathic personalities is that when their anti-social behaviors lead to conflict, the trolls react by demonizing anyone who objects to their disruptive and/or abusive behaviors. Unwilling (or perhaps unable) to accept the validity of criticism, or to tolerate the conflict as a simple disagreement, they cannot walk away from the fight. Incapable of coping with shame, they lash out at their critics, accusing them of bad motives (mala fides) that serve to justify the campaign of vengeance aimed at the person they feel has wronged them.
Live long enough and pay attention, and this pattern becomes sadly familiar. Ancient wisdom is vindicated: Fools despise instruction, the wicked hate virtue, and liars hate the truth.
Another ancient truth: Hit the freaking tip jar. Sometimes I feel guilty getting paid to have this much fun with trolls. But not too guilty.

According to the lawsuit, a psychologist found that the boys have “approximately equivalent symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder that included flashbacks, repeated thoughts and feelings associated with viewing the video of their father shooting himself in the head, re-experiencing trauma, sleep disturbance, and intrusive thoughts.”
The boys will require “long-term psychiatric and/or psychological treatment,” the lawsuit claims . . .
‘A Little Girl on Her Way to School’
Posted on | June 13, 2013 | 17 Comments
Those were the words Assistant District Attorney Thaddeus West used Wednesday morning in York County (Maine) Superior Court to describe the victim of a brutal attack by Dane Bosley.
Bosley was 20 years old that day in October 2008 when he leaped out of the bushes and raped his victim at knifepoint.
And the victim — the one the prosecutor described to the jury as “a little girl on her way to school” — was 14 years old:
A man accused of raping a 14-year-old girl in 2008 as she took a shortcut to school changed his plea to guilty as the second day of his trial in York County Superior Court was about to begin Wednesday morning.
Dane Bosley, 25, pleaded guilty to gross sexual assault and agreed to a recommended sentence that will put him in prison for at least 14 years. In exchange for the guilty plea, the state dropped additional charges of kidnapping, criminal threatening with a dangerous weapon and assault.
Bosley’s plea reversal came after his victim, now 19, testified about the attack. In testimony Tuesday that had to be interrupted when she became emotionally overwhelmed, the woman described how she was attacked, threatened with a knife and sexually assaulted mutiple times.
Before deciding to plead guilty, the perp tried an interesting defense:
At the outset of the trial, Bosley claimed that the sex was consensual and the victim was fabricating the story about the attack and there were inconsistencies in her story that should lead to reasonable doubt.
But wait — why would he claim that?
The case against Bosley required that the state prove he forced the girl to have sex. Under Maine law, statutory rape . . . only applies when the victim is younger than 14.
Good thing Maine isn’t full of bigoted haters like Florida, huh?
Chuck Schumer’s Compromise Plan: ‘Bend Over and Grab Your Ankles, Republicans’

‘Thanks for the compromise, Marco. Now go fix me a sandwich.’
“Pro-tip for Republicans: if Obama, Schumer, Dick Durbin, Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, La Raza, and the SEIU is really really really for something, it’s probably best for you to oppose it.”
— Jeff Goldstein, Protein Wisdom
You have to smile at the childish naïveté behind these headlines:
Rubio: ‘I’m done’ if immigration bill
includes gay couple amendment
— Yahoo News
Who are these Republicans who imagine that notorious liars like Chuck Schumer can be trusted to negotiate in good faith? Where does the GOP find such hopelessly persistent fools? Why didn’t someone warn Marco Rubio not to align himself with the Open Borders Caucus?
[A]mnesty cheerleaders like Lindsey Graham … give Chuck Schumer’s bill its transparently thin négligée of “bipartisanship” . . .
And speaking of négligées:

The Gang of Eight Liars
Posted on | June 13, 2013 | 48 Comments
Everything you need to know about the so-called “Gang of 8” Senate immigration bill is this: Obama supports it.
If this bill was good for America, Obama would be against it.
If this was a bill that any conservative could honestly support, Harry Reid would have killed it in committee and Chuck Schumer would not be begging people to support it, and the fact that 30 Republicans voted for cloture is profoundly disturbing.
Supporters of the Senate bill are lying, because if they told the truth about it, there would be a firestorm of outrage. And because we know that they are lying about it, as Michelle Malkin explains, it’s important not to listen to what they say, but to watch what they do:
The official White House operating policy is: No illegal alien left behind. “Smarter enforcement” means no enforcement.
Remember: Exactly one year ago this week, the president announced he would halt all deportations and start granting work permits to an estimated 2.1 million illegal aliens who entered the country as children.
This blanket amnesty through administrative non-enforcement has been plagued by questions of fraud from the get-go.
Read the whole thing. Every word spoken or written in favor of this wretched legislative monstrosity is a lie, including any claim that it would require immigrants to learn English:
[ProEnglish Executive Director, Bob Vandervoort said:] “Contrary to what the Gang of 8 says, S. 744 has no requirement for illegal immigrants to learn English to get work permits or amnesty. They can renew their work permits indefinitely. They only have to show some knowledge of English IF they apply for green cards after 10 and a half years of residency! In the meantime, taxpayers will be paying for translations and interpreters. It’s time for the Gang of 8 to stop the lies.”
“For at least ten years and perhaps for their entire lives, this huge new group of predominantly non-English speaking, former illegal immigrants will create a huge new demand for costly government services in their native language, further exacerbating the dangerous and growing division of the United States into separate cultural and linguistic communities,” Vandervoort elaborates. “This would be an unprecedented calamity for our nation’s unity,” he said.
What part of “NO AMNESTY” is so hard to understand?
UPDATE: No intelligent person is deceived by this “bipartisanship”:
On Tuesday, the Senate voted 84-15 — with Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell among 30 Republican senators voting “yes” — to bring the bill to the floor for debate. Tea Party favorite, Sen. Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, was among the GOP senators declaring support for the controversial legislation. . . .
Rubio told David Drucker of the Washington Examiner that he is working with fellow Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch of Utah to craft an amendment that would strengthen border enforcement provisions in the bill. However, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Nevada Democrat, has already signaled that he will oppose stronger enforcement.
The “Gang of Eight” bill was slammed this week by two influential conservative columnists.
“If the GOP Is This Stupid, It Deserves to Die,” Ann Coulter headlined her Wednesday column, saying Republican supporters of the legislation “are devoting all their energy to slightly increasing their share of the Hispanic vote while alienating everyone else in America.” And the bill was also criticized by Michelle Malkin.
“Suicidal Republicans have supported illegal alien amnesties dating back to the Reagan era,” Malkin said in her Thursday syndicated column, which concluded: “Trust them? Hell, no. There’s only one course for citizens who believe in upholding the Constitution and protecting the American dream: Stop them.”

The #FreeKate Criminal Caucus
Posted on | June 12, 2013 | 34 Comments
Bad causes attract bad supporters, and readers will perhaps not be surprised that people who think it should be legal to diddle 14-year-olds — which is what the “Free Kate” movement boils down to — are not generally paragons of civil discourse:
Who is this #FreeKate fanatic Gary Herndon and why is he in favor of sex with 14-year-olds? twitter.com/Jeanette_Runyo… | @jeanette_runyon
— Robert Stacy McCain (@rsmccain) June 12, 2013
Here we see Gary Herndon on Facebook chatting with Kaitlyn Hunt’s father, Steve Hunt, about efforts to suppress online critics of the “Free Kate” campaign. Would you be surprised to learn that Gary M. Herdon of Charlotte, N.C., has a criminal record for stalking?
So apparently, a 50-year-old criminal thinks Kaitlyn Hunt should be celebrated as a hero for having sex with a 14-year-old.
Right.
It’s the “Stalkers for Statutory Rape” movement. And if you disagree with them, you’re just a bigoted hater.
Kaitlyn Hunt remains free on bond. Her next court date is July 25.
