Your Mother Is Really Going to Love That Zenithink C91 Tablet From Amazon
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 7 Comments
Look, I keep recommending jewelry as a Mother’s Day gift, but every time I check the Amazon Associates sales report, I find out we’ve sold some other high-end gizmo. Last week, it was a $300 lawn mower and a $500 laser printer. This week, it’s a 10.2-inch Zenithink C91 Android tablet for which somebody paid $199.99. I’m sure Mom will love it and, as always when you order through our Amazon links, you get low prices and kick me a sweet commission at no extra cost to you.
You can buy anything at Amazon — even the kitchen sink, or at least the faucet. Last week we sold a fancy contemporary kitchen faucet for $58, which I’m sure some thoughtful son will install at Mom’s house as a gift. Another reader got Mom a Philips Sonicare electric toothbrush for $38.
Click any link and shop around for great buys at Amazon. Most purchases over $25 come with free Super Saver shipping. Whether you’re buying something for yourself, or a gift for Mom, it’s the thought that counts — and also that sweet commission that helps me pay the bills.

RINO Hunters: Nice Six-Term Senate Career You Had There, Dick Lugar
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 32 Comments
In the span of barely a month, polls in the Indiana Republican primary race between incumbent Sen. Dick Lugar and challenger Richard Mourdock have gone from a 7-point lead for Lugar to a 10-point lead for Mourdock. With the primary now just four days away, the headlines:
Dick Lugar In Deep Trouble, A New Poll Finds
— Huffington Post
Poll: Lugar trails Mourdock by 10 points
— The Hill
Indiana senator: Poll gives
Mourdock sizable lead over Lugar
— Indianapolis Star
Thirty-six years in Washington is enough, and Lugar represents a style of Republican “centrism” that has outlived its usefulness.
The leftward drift of Democrats in the past couple of decades makes compromise increasingly untenable. Whatever basis there remained for genuine bipartisanship in Congress died during the second Bush term. The 2006 election brought into office a crowd of Democrats beholden to the far left, demanding radical measures on every issue from gay rights to global warming to health care. This was bad news for the Arlen Specter/Mike Castle type of “centrist” Republicans, just as it was for the Rick Boucher/Barron Hill type of “Blue Dog” Democrats, who were all but wiped out in 2010.
Liberal media types, always sympathetic to GOP moderates, like to portray the primary defeats of guys like Lugar as indicative of right-wing extremism among the Republican electorate, but the exact opposite it true: The problem is that the Democratic Party’s agenda is now so extreme that any Republican who tries to compromise with the opposition ends up embracing policies rejected by common-sense GOP primary voters.
The failure of Lugar to see the handwriting on the wall — either to pull back from his more liberal positions, or to retire rather than seek re-election at age 80 — is emblematic of how politicians lose touch with voter sentiment after decades in office. Lugar is a throwback to the Gerald Ford era, a fossil relic of a bygone age.
Good-bye, Dick.
James Sensenbrenner Chickens Out of Climate Change Conference Over Ad
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 9 Comments
Just four hours ago, I told you about the awesome billboard campaign by the Heartland Institute, highlighting such global-warming fanatics as “Unabomber” Ted Kacynzinski. Now, unfortunately, Wisconsin Rep. James Sensenbrenner has chickened out:
Congressman Sensenbrenner will not participate in the upcoming Climate Change Conference if the Heartland Institute decides to continue this ad campaign. We have contacted the Heartland Institute and voiced these same concerns to them.
And Heartland has pulled the billboards.
Does global warming cause testosterone deficiency?

VIDEO: Ohio’s Josh Mandel Is Awesome
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 5 Comments
The Republican challenger to Democrat Sherrod Brown in Ohio’s Senate race puts on his combat boots in this new ad:
Earlier this week, Mandel was endorsed by National Right to Life PAC. The Democrats are clearly worried about this sharp young GOP challenger in a key battleground state. Think of it as “reverse coattails”: A strong Republican Senate challenge will help turn out GOP-friendly voters in Ohio, and thus boost Mitt Romney’s chances against Obama. If Obama can’t win Ohio . . .
Well, that’s all the more reason you should help elect Josh Mandel.
UPDATE: Check out this news report from Lima, Ohio:
Wow, he’s young, huh? He won’t turn 35 until September and, if elected, will become the youngest member of the Senate. Go, Josh, go!
Heartland Institute Hits Global Warming With Ted Kaczynski Billboard Campaign
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 21 Comments
Billboards in Chicago paid for by The Heartland Institute point out that some of the world’s most notorious criminals say they “still believe in global warming” — and ask viewers if they do, too. . . .
The billboard series features Ted Kaczynski, the infamous Unabomber; Charles Manson, a mass murderer; and Fidel Castro, a tyrant. Other global warming alarmists who may appear on future billboards include Osama bin Laden and James J. Lee (who took hostages inside the headquarters of the Discovery Channel in 2010).
These rogues and villains were chosen because they made public statements about how man-made global warming is a crisis and how mankind must take immediate and drastic actions to stop it.
Speaking of deranged nutjobs who believe in global warming, if you’ll check the Memeorandum thread, you’ll see that Little Green Footballs and Andrew Sullivan are both apoplectic over this billboard campaign.
Scratch an environmentalist and a thin-skinned hysteric bleeds. Facts always drive ’em nuts, and the Heartland Institute links to the famous Al Gore or Unabomber quiz. Heartland also points the way to other excellent resources:
Global warming . . . is not a crisis. For a plain English introductory essay with lots of links to research that proves these points, see “Global Warming: Not a Crisis.”
Most people who still believe in global warming do so because they trust the United Nations, the so-called mainstream media, and leading political figures to be telling them the truth about a complicated scientific issue. That trust has been betrayed. . . .
See the Media Research Center’s 2008 report, “Global Warming Censored,” for a good account of media bias on this topic. . . .
For a detailed analysis of the claim of a “scientific consensus” on global warming, see this essay: “You Call This Consensus?”
Despite all the “crisis” and “consensus” claptrap, the facts expose global warming as an anti-capitalism, anti-technology, anti-human cult belief. If you’re interested in learning more, check this out:
The Heartland Institute will host its Seventh International Conference on Climate Change from Monday, May 21 through Wednesday, May 23, 2012 at the Hilton Chicago Hotel, starting on the final day of the historic NATO Summit. The conference will feature more than 50 scientists and economists lecturing on their latest findings, as well as political leaders and dignitaries from around the world.
Vaclav Klaus, president of the Czech Republic, will deliver the first dinner address on Monday, May 21. More information about the conference – including registration information for the public and the media – can be found at climateconference.heartland.org.
That sounds like fun. Probably a lot of “Occupy” types and other left-wing protesters will show up screaming about the Koch brothers.
BREAKING: Economy Craters, Unemployment Soars, Obama Begins Desperate Search for Scapegoats
Posted on | May 4, 2012 | 14 Comments
Whatever you do, don’t blame President Gutsy Call:
In April the number of people not in the labor force rose by a whopping 522,000 from 87,897,000 to 88,419,000. This is the highest on record. . . . [T]he labor force participation rate just dipped to a new 30 year low of 64.3%.
Surely, Americans will be aghast when they learn this dreadful news. I mean, not even the liberal media can deny that this is bad, right? But there’s always The Department of Dishonest Headlines:
Economy adds 115,000 jobs;
unemployment drops to 8.1 percent
The good news: By concealing the grim economic reality, the liberal media save Democrats the trouble having to blame Bush again.
