To Say the Least . . .

House impeaches Trump a second time,
but conviction and removal are unlikely

As a symbolic gesture, what does this symbolize? The absolute contempt that Democrats have for the 74 million Americans who voted for Trump.

Having discovered that, with the help of mail-in vote fraud and Big Tech censorship, they can steal any election anywhere, Democrats have no fear that the “deplorables” could ever regain power. Thus the totalitarian regime, able to cruse its enemies with impunity, simply does not care about the potential of a backlash — dissent is now treason, and resistance is illegal. No matter how “unlikely” Trump could be removed from office between now and next Wednesday (it’s so unlikely as to be almost impossible, but we cannot rule anything out, in this climate of hysteria), this vote with 10 “Republicans” voting yes, is important for its symbolic value. Glenn Reynolds observes: “They were talking about impeaching him before he was even sworn in, which tells you a lot about the seriousness of this stuff.” Democrats never accepted the results of the 2016 election as legitimate, yet anyone who today questions the outcome of the 2020 election is condemned as an Enemy of Democracy.

Georgia Bank Executive Commits Suicide After Being Charged in Capitol Riot

Posted on | January 13, 2021 | Comments Off on Georgia Bank Executive Commits Suicide After Being Charged in Capitol Riot

Christopher Stanton Georgia, 53, was a regional portfolio manager at BB&T, who lived in a fine home in the Atlanta suburb of Alpharetta. He was a cum laude graduate of Georgia State University. After he was charged in connection with last week’s riot at the Capitol in D.C., leftists began barraging his employer’s Twitter account with demands that he be fired. Saturday, he died from a self-inflicted gunshot:

An Alpharetta man who was among those arrested following the insurrection at the U.S. Capitol Wednesday has killed himself, according to the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Christopher Georgia, 53, died Saturday from a gunshot wound to his chest, said M. Ruffin, an investigator for the office. Georgia’s body was found in the basement of a home in a subdivision near Brierfield and Mid Broadwell roads, Alpharetta police records show. Police found two rifles at the home.
Metropolitan Police in Washington, D.C., arrested Georgia Wednesday evening and charged him with “unlawful entry of public property” and violating the city’s 6 p.m. curfew in connection with last week’s storming of the Capitol by President Trump’s supporters.
He pleaded not guilty Thursday, D.C. Superior Court records show, and The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported his involvement in Friday’s editions.
His attorney, Marnitta King, declined to comment. His family did not respond to requests for comment.
Georgia was among several Peach State residents who traveled to Washington Wednesday. Online sleuths have identified Savannah QAnon adherent Dominic Box, Americus lawyer McCall Calhoun and former Georgia resident Eric Munchel as among the hundreds who breached the U.S. Capitol.

More details:

Documents obtained exclusively by DailyMail[dot]com show Georgia’s wife called 911 on Saturday morning, telling authorities there was ‘blood everywhere’. His body was found in the basement of the home they share.
Family members on the scene were described by police as ‘extremely distressed’ in a police report. . . .
At around 7:15pm last Wednesday, on the night of the riots, Georgia was reportedly among a group outside in violation of the District’s 6pm curfew that had been put in place earlier that day to stem the chaos wreaked by the pro-Trump mob.
When officers gave the group several warnings to disperse, Georgia and his group reportedly refused, according to the documents. They were then placed under arrest as a result.

Nobody, so far as we know, has accused Christopher Georgia of doing anything violent. He was part of a group that failed to disperse in violation of the D.C. curfew order. What has happened is that everybody charged last Wednesday has been targeted for destruction by the Left.

As Kurt Schlichter keeps saying: They want us all dead.

Try to stay alive, just to spite them. Your mere existence is valuable.

UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers! Sarah Hoyt says:

“Riot” my sore feet. I’ve been in demonstrations. I’ve been in riots. I’ve been in demonstrations that were fired upon and where panic erupted and people got trampled. That one wasn’t any of the above. It was the Democrats — ineptly — trying to use a protest to create a Reichstag fire. Stupidly. Because they are very stupid people. And now panicked too.

She’s a fierce one, our Portuguese friend.

Can I Get a ‘Roll Tide,’ Please?

Posted on | January 12, 2021 | 1 Comment

It’s only their 18th National Championship:

Alabama defeated Ohio State, 52-24, for its third national championship in the College Football Playoff era.
In a season significantly impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, the Crimson Tide were able to come away with the first championship of 2021 at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Fla and finish their season undefeated.
The victory makes it 14 consecutive wins for Alabama. The Crimson Tide haven’t lost since Nov. 30, 2019.
The first half of the game was all about Crimson Tide wide receiver Devonta Smith.
Smith had 12 catches for 215 yards with three touchdowns. . . .
Mac Jones put together a game for the ages as well.
Jones was 36-for-45 with 464 passing yards and five touchdown passes. He surpassed Joe Burrow’s national championship performance from last season. Burrow had 463 passing yards with five touchdown passes.
On the ground, Najee Harris had 79 rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns. He also had seven catches for 79 yards and a touchdown. . . .
Nick Saban’s legendary college football legacy only grows after the win. It’s Saban’s seventh national championship and sixth as Alabama head coach. He won one during the 2003 season with LSU and won his first with Alabama in 2009 after he returned to college football after a stint with the Miami Dolphins.
Alabama won its first national title during the College Football Playoff era during the 2015 season, beating Clemson, 45-40. The team defeated Georgia in the only overtime game in the final, 26-23. It’s their 18th title in school history.

As you might expect, Monday night was quite festive here at the McCain home, as I watched the game with my brother, two of my sons, two grandsons and my slightly less festive wife. Her family in Ohio are big Buckeyes fans, so this game wasn’t quite as fun for her. Fortunately, games between the Crimson Tide and Ohio State are rare; Monday’s game was only the fifth time they’ve ever played each other. Alabama has won all but one of those, a 2015 playoff semifinal.

So even though Democrats stole the election, I’ve still got something to be happy about. Now, I just need to find some source of happiness to carry me over until the next football season kicks off. Roll Tide!

Rule 5 Sunday: Rep. Lauren Boebert

Posted on | January 11, 2021 | 1 Comment

— compiled by Wombat-socho

One of the good things about the freshman class of Republican Congressmen is that a lot of them are not only conservative, they’re good looking ladies as well. And one of the better looking ladies in the pack is the pistol-packing representative from Colorado’s Third District, Lauren Boebert, previously best known for being the owner of Shooters Grill in Rifle, where all the waitresses are packing. Not sure if this pic from The Journal shows Rep. Boebert with some of her waitresses; they’re identified as “two other armed women”. Will she be this year’s version of Sarah Palin? I guess we’ll see.
