On the short list of academics/intellectuals worthy of the title, Victor Davis Hanson looms large. His new outing, “The Case for Trump” is on my phone in the Kindle app, and I’ll be trying to read through a chapter a day and post about it.

Of course, I can’t claim to have foreseen Trump’s 2016 triumph in the slightest. I thought (as doubtless Her Majesty’s campaign did) that he’d be an easy mark, given his checkered past. Mitt Romney, hold the Ward Cleaver. But I am trapped in +20D Occupied Northern Virginia, so my non-grasp of the American pulse is blamed on the high concentration of oxygen theives clogging the roadways*.

We need to get past the antiquated notion that there is any sort of rational dialog to be had with the Left. Like Joshua and Caleb working on the next stage of the mission, we’re simply going to have to outlive the generation of lunkheads whose minds have been polluted by the Left.

Pray for them; try to listen. But understand that Commie indoctrination has stunted their imaginations, and they may no longer be capable of understanding those “fact” thingies that we cherish so dearly.

Left-Wing Democrats: ‘If Hating Israel Is Wrong, We Don’t Want to Be Right’

That tweet by Colorado leftist Saira Rao perfectly encapsulates the problems of the new Democrat majority in the House. Nancy Pelosi wanted to pass a resolution — obviously aimed at Ilhan Omar — condemning anti-Semitism. But this has failed, because the Left has welcomed Jew-haters into their ranks, and anti-Semitism is particularly prevalent among radical “women of color” (WOC, in social-justice shorthand) like Linda Sarsour. On elite university campuses now, the anti-Israel BDS (Boycott, Divest, Sanction) movement unites radical students and, not incidentally, serves as a Trojan Horse for anti-white racism. What is meant, after all, by BDS rhetoric condemning Israel as an “apartheid state”? Conservative Jews like David Horowitz and William Jacobson have been warning about this tendency for years. When you see Nancy Pelosi linked to David Duke (!!!) in left-wing rhetoric, you see how serious this threat is in Democrat politics.

 

Ilhan Omar keeps doubling down, and Pelosi is trapped:

Democrats have had the majority in the House of Representatives for just two months, but they’ve already been sidetracked by an ugly divide over anti-Semitism and other bigotry.
For weeks, tensions on Capitol Hill have been rising over remarks from freshman Rep. Ilhan Omar of Minnesota questioning the allegiance of Israel supporters in Congress. Her comments drew condemnation from many of her fellow Democrats and prompted House Speaker Nancy Pelosi of California to push for a vote on a resolution condemning anti-Semitism. Rather than putting the issue behind them, however, the move has prolonged the controversy and put a spotlight on divisions inside the party around a highly sensitive issue.
The resolution came after Omar criticized politicians by using anti-Semitic tropes, prompting condemnation from several Jewish Democratic lawmakers and an apology from Omar last month. But Omar later dug in when she suggested pro-Israel interests pushed members of Congress to pledge allegiance to a “foreign country,” drawing further outrage from her colleagues.
Pelosi had a choice: She could issue piecemeal condemnations and hope the issue disappeared, or nip it in the bud with a strong resolution staking out the House’s stance on anti-Semitism. She chose the latter but didn’t count on the resistance from allies of Omar. After an ugly scrum broke out on Wednesday behind closed doors, the vote was tabled. Leadership is now rewriting the resolution to condemn all hate, not just anti-Semitism.
Members from both the Congressional Black Caucus and the younger, far-left wing of the party were furious about the leadership’s gambit. They questioned singling out Omar for condemnation. What about bigotry from Republicans, including President Donald Trump? And why were Democrats so focused on a woman of color, one of just two Muslims in Congress? Could the added scrutiny even put Omar in danger?
“Like some of my colleagues in the Congressional Black Caucus, I am concerned that the spotlight being put on Congresswoman Omar may put her at risk,” California Sen. Kamala Harris told reporters Wednesday. Sens. Bernie Sanders of Vermont and Elizabeth Warren of Massachusetts — who like Harris are running for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination — also voiced their support for Omar.
Others on the left asked why Democrats were condemning only bigotry against Jews. “We think that hate and racism in our country is growing. American Jewish, LGBTQ, Latino, immigrant, Muslim — it is something that needs to be looked at as a whole instead of just trying to come up with a hierarchy of hurt and pain,” Rep. Rashida Tlaib of Michigan, another freshman Democrat and the other Muslim in Congress, told CNN on Wednesday.

So, Democrats can’t condemn anti-Semitism because, without anti-Semitism, they’d lose “the younger, far-left wing of the party” — the Jew-haters who support Ilhan Omar and Rashida Tlaib.

In case I haven’t reminded you lately, some of my cousins are Jewish Democrats. They despise Donald Trump, but I wonder: How long will they be able to maintain their anti-Trump stance if Pelosi fails to suppress the Jew-haters in her coalition? You can go back as far as the 1960s and see how this poisonous weed has grown on the Left.

Anti-Israel politics functioned as a proxy for anti-Semitism among “Black Power” radicals, and anti-Semitism was a proxy for anti-white racism. In 1996, I interviewed a former activist for SNCC who bemoaned how “Stokely Carmichael and that crowd ran the white people out of the movement” circa 1966. That tendency flourished again in the wake of the 9/11 attacks and, while it seemed to fade during the Obama years, it continued growing with the BDS movement on college campuses. Now, with Trump in the White House and Democrats controlling the House, Pelosi finds herself yoked to this radicalism and it will be difficult, if not impossible, for her to disentangle herself from the anti-Israel/anti-white sentiment that flourishes among “the younger, far-left wing of the party.”

Emergency? What Emergency?

The numbers are alarming:

Illegal immigration continues to break records on the southwestern border — and they’re not good ones.
The number of families snared trying to sneak into the U.S. soared by 50 percent in one month alone, setting an all-time record with more than 36,000 family members apprehended, Homeland Security officials announced Tuesday.
The government has also encountered some 70 groups of at least 100 migrants during the first five months of the fiscal year, shattering records and placing new challenges on Border Patrol agents.
The mini-caravans are being funneled to some of the remotest parts of the border, where there is little in the way of medical help and it takes hours to process and transport the groups. That takes agents off the line, and drug smugglers use the distraction to send across their shipments, top border officials said.
“We are facing alarming trends,” said Kevin K. McAleenan, commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
He said the numbers signal the existence of an immigration and humanitarian crisis, reinforcing President Trump’s assertion of an emergency necessitating his redirection of money to build a border wall.

Meanwhile, there is news from “Little Mogadishu, in the city soon to be formerly known as Minneapolis”:

After the latest spasm of gang violence, Minneapolis’ Somali residents and business owners on Monday stepped up their calls for help from City Hall and police headquarters to help curb the senseless shootings that they say too often go overlooked. On Friday alone, five men of Somali descent were shot in separate attacks, one fatally.
Police and community members pinned the blame for the bloodshed on an ongoing feud between Cedar-Riverside neighborhood gangs like 1627 and Madhiban With Attitude (MWA) and their rivals, the Somali Outlaws, whose territory includes the area around Karmel Mall. Friday’s shootings were a repeat of a familiar pattern: a shooting on one gang’s turf is usually followed hours, if not minutes later by an “eye-for-an-eye” response so as not to appear weak, community members say. Two shootings last month are also blamed on the conflict. As with other recent shootings, police immediately stepped up patrols in both neighborhoods to prevent further retaliation. But some in the community wondered whether they could be doing more.

But don’t call this an “emergency.” That’s hate speech.

‘No Fatties in the Club’

Nayvadius DeMun Wilburn is an Atlanta-born rapped known as “Future,” who has won some awards and sired five children with five different women, none of whom he married. Naomie Chaput is a plus-size model who weighs over 350 pounds and has more than 200,000 followers on her Instagram account (@na0__). As a synopsis of American cultural decadence, therefore, this controversy is rather illuminating:

The Twittersphere is having a field day with news that Future allegedly banned a Miami night club from allowing any fat girls to party inside.
Popular Instagram influencer @na0___ shared the tale on her IG story last night, saying, “Just got word that it’s true, Future said no fatties in the club.”
Noticeably perplexed, she told her followers, “I’m just trying to understand really why this is a thing. Why is he allowed to put those rules in place…the discrimination is insane to me.” Adding that she doesn’t doesn’t give a damn about a rapper, Naomie said “It’s the fact that it’s a thing in 2019 where we can say no fatties on the club” that upset her.
The South Beach venue where Future was hanging out has yet to be named, but discrimination in Miami clubs is nothing new. In 2012, four Black women made the news after exposing the famed Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel from denying them entrance based solely on their race. When one of the women texted a party promoter to tell him they were turned away from the door, his response was “Its a double standard @ the fountainbleu. White chics can be ok. Black chics gotta look twice as good and they only cater to a so called urban crowd on thursdays and sundays. Peace and love.”
Given that history, there could’ve been a possibility Future didn’t actually say no big girls allowed, rather the club owner decided to enforce the discriminatory policy. However, the same influencer later shared a text exchange with her friend casually telling her, “I just was told no plus sizes in the club for future. But we can find somewhere else.” She went on to say the no plus-size policy is a common thing on South Beach, which speaks to the problematic nature of fat-shaming, as plus-size model, actress, and influencer Simone Mariposa pointed out on Twitter.

Now, to add some context to this “discrimination,” imagine that I, a 59-year-old white man with a gray beard, had attempted to enter this private party at a Miami nightclub. Don’t you suppose that my presence would have been equally unwelcome? If I were denied admission, would anyone in the “social justice” community give a damn? I think not.

What is “the problematic nature of fat-shaming”? What does that phrase even mean in the context of a rapper’s nightclub party?

But why do people want to hang out with “Future” anyway? I’ve never been a fan of the hiphop scene, but if the “social justice” community wants to be angry at “Future” over something, how about his notorious habit of spawning bastard offspring all over the place?

Wilburn is being sued by both Jessica Smith and Ciara. Smith is suing him for failing to pay child support, and stated that their son “suffers from emotional and behavioral issues stemming from Future’s neglect as a father”. Ciara is suing him for defamation, slander, and libel. In October 2016, a judge said that Future’s string of tweets bashing Ciara did not relate to the $15 million she was asking for.
Prior to his music career in 2004, Wilburn was arrested for theft by receiving stolen property and contempt of court.

The man is a menace to society, but no feminist ever voiced a single word of criticism toward him prior to this “no fatties in the club” controversy, for some reason. “Intersectionality,” I presume.
