For Those Who Missed The Alabama Reporting

by Smitty

In case you’ve missed Stacy’s ongoing quest for Southern comfort, Caught Him With A Corndog, in shameless, recreational obedience to Rule #1, graciously gathered the goods for your convenience.

If you take a pause from your snow shoveling exertions to consider the tip jar, then that will help the Wandering Journalist find his way home. How exactly he does that between the storms is as unclear as the sky. Fishersville Mike isn’t likely to spare one of these new, green Audis to help Stacy get home, but maybe he can spot a cup o’ coffee for McCain in passing.

Rule 5k ft.

by Smitty (h/t Drudge)

A passenger boards in Philly for Frisco.  He goes nutty, and the plane has to divert to Pittsburgh:

Why? The guy’s making a total ass of himself. Time for Rule 5 at 5,000 feet. The guy ends up being humiliated by a stewardess.

Now, if it’s legal, fine. If the dope is prescription, fine. A note from your doctor, however, is not an excuse for crappy behavior. If taking the medication precludes air travel, so be it. You can’t always get what you want, and the need to have a safe, low-stress flight trumps any dude’s need to be baked at altitude.

This is not the deed for which one wants one’s 15 minutes of fame.

VIDEO: GOP Candidate Rick Barber Talks Tea Parties, Pool Halls and Blue Dogs

MONTGOMERY, Ala.
Pubs and alehouses like Tondee’s Tavern served as meeting places where colonists planned the American Revolution, and that tradition is being carried on by Tea Party activists in Alabama. Every Tuesday is “Patriot Night” at Montgomery’s Deja Vu Billiards, owned by Republican congressional candidate Rick Barber:

By the way, describing Barber as a “pool-hall owner” may be somewhat misleading about his business background. After his service as a sergeant in the Marine Corps, Barber launched a computer technology firm that grew to $1 million in annual revenue before he sold it in 2005.

To Be Fair to Rachel Maddow . . .

. . . it was hard to tell exactly what the sounds coming from the MSNBC host meant. They were sort of a little bit muffled by, you know, the pudding in her mouth:

Visit msnbc.com for breaking news, world news, and news about the economy

Maddow’s quote:

Just for reference here, when Tom Tancredo talks about literacy tests, that’s what they used in the south to keep black people from voting before civil rights legislation and court rulings put a stop to that.
So the convention opened with a clarion call to bring back the literacy tests for voting. And as you could hear, the tea party convention crowd erupted in cheers at the suggestion, although, to be fair, it was sort of hard to tell exactly what the sounds coming from the crowd meant. They were sort of a little bit muffled by, you know, the white hoods.

Hat-tip to Ed Driscoll, who explains more. And kudos to the brilliant mind who produced this aphorism:

“Breitbart said reporters put all news involving conservatives into two basic buckets: ‘racism and Watergate.”

Amen.
