Pamela Geller Vindicated, Again, While the LGF Auto-Beclownment Continues

Donald Douglas at American Power has a post about how LGF’s Charles Johnson bullied a Forbes writer into removing a reference in her article to an incontrovertible fact: Norwegian terrorist Anders Behring Breivik cited Little Green Footballs in his “manifesto.”

Breivik linked LGF 20 times, mostly while quoting anti-jihad blogger “Fjordman,” a former LGF commenter. And so Charles Johnson was outraged by Forbes writer Abigail Easman’s article:

Obviously, it’s incorrect to call LGF “popular.” Period.

And let me just remind you that, three weeks before the Oslo massacre, Pamela Geller was being criticized for going public with her concerns about neo-Nazi elements in the English Defence League. My defense of her at that time was simple: If Pamela Geller says you’ve got an anti-Semitism problem, you probably have an anti-Semitism problem.

Fast-forward to the aftermath of Oslo, and Breivik’s claims of “connections” with members of the EDL.

If this is true, don’t you kind of wonder if the EDL members who were buddies with the Norwegian terrorist were some of the same neo-Nazi types Geller was warning about?

MSM Goes LGF: Media Trying to Blame Norway Massacre on Pamela Geller?

Donald Douglas at American Power has “a little round-up of those exploiting the dead to destroy their political enemies.” POH Diaries describes this as the functioning of an “anti-anti-jihad movement.” As for the MSM Demon of the Day, Pamela Geller’s basic rule of combat is, “Mess With the Bull, You Get the Horns“:

Needless to say, I have been fielding calls from an agenda-driven media hellbent on destroying the freedom-loving voices on the right with the acts of a lone psychopath. NBC Nightly News is calling (that’s a first). And Robert Spencer is besieged with media requests. . . .
Instead of mourning the 91 victims of this horrible tragedy, the media is wielding it like a club to bludgeon the voices of freedom.
Are celebrities responsible for their stalkers? Were the Beatles responsible for Charles Manson? Or Jodie Foster responsible for the shooting of Ronald Reagan? Of course not.
But the sharia-compliant media is naked in their blood libel to tie this murderer to everyone of us who fight for human rights, the rule of law, the dignity of the human person, free speech, the free conscience, and equality of rights for all. Why doesn’t the media ever call out Islamic imams who really do incite to violence for their real calls to kill?

It’s amazing, really. No matter how many times some guy named Mohammed screams “Allahu akbar!” before committing a bloody atrocity, the media insist we must not stigmatize or stereotype Muslims as responsible for terrorism committed in the name of Islam. But let one Norwegian nutjob go berserk, and suddenly Pamela Geller’s getting calls from major news organizations wanting to get her on-the-record response to a crime she never endorsed, advocated or condoned.

What is lost in moments like this a sense of proportion about the dangers we face. What is the real threat on a daily basis? The awful carnage in Norway — a terrible crime, universally condemned by all — is being used by the mainstream media to distract us from an important point that Rusty Shackleford explains in two simple sentences:

A day doesn’t go by in which Muslim extremists don’t kill. Not a single day.

If radical right-wing Norwegians were killing daily — constantly, deliberately, routinely — in the same way that Islamic extremists are killing, then it might deserve an in-depth media inquiry into the influences and “connections” of the Deadly Scandinavian Menace.

But that’s not what’s really happening, is it? Continue reading MSM Goes LGF: Media Trying to Blame Norway Massacre on Pamela Geller? →

Muslims: Don’t Hurt Their Feelings!

For example, it hurts their feelings when an Australian court says they can’t have sex with 8-year-olds.

And it especially hurts their feelings when you suspect them of involvement with terrorism:

Right-wing websites quickly pointed the finger at “jihadis,” and Pamela Geller, publisher of the website Atlas Shrugs and executive director of Stop Islamization of America, wrote on her site: “You can ignore jihad, but you cannot avoid the consequences of ignoring jihad.”
Counter-terrorism experts soon weighed in, implicating Al Qaeda.

Pamela Geller gives it right back at ’em. Why do none of these oh-so-sensitive liberals ever worry about  hurting Pamela’s feelings?

CAIR Loves ‘Em Some LGF: ‘Glad to See That Chaz Is Now Marketing the Caliphate’

Doug Ross: “It’s come to this: CAIR now tweeting links to LGF.”

“Breivik was deeply involved in the ‘counter-jihad’ blogosphere and UK far right groups . . . Breivik boasted online of his discussions with the English Defence League (the anti-Muslim group praised and supported by US bloggers Robert Spencer and Pamela Geller), and with ‘Stop the Islamisation of Europe’ — the European branch of Pamela Geller’s ‘Stop the Islamization of America’ (listed as a hate group by the Southern Poverty Law Center).”

Johnson’s dhimmi-fication could not be more complete if he joined the Gaza flotilla and composed a jazz-guitar anthem, “Ode to St. Pancake.” The fact that he’s citing the SPLC and getting re-Tweeted by CAIR pretty much says it all, doesn’t it?

Of course, tu quoque: “Norway Shooter a Charles Johnson Fan,” Pamela Geller says, and she also notes that Oslo massacre suspect Anders Behring Breivk had been rejected from Stop Islamicization of Europe, as SIOE’s founder told Reuters.

Pamela further notes — and screen-caps, in case CJ tries to put it down the memory hole — Johnson’s own comment (about 11:30 a.m. PT/2:30 p.m. ET Friday):

“The simultaneous attacks sound like Al Qaeda to me, as does the scale of the bombing.”

And that was after some witnesses had already been quoted in the press saying the Utoya shooter was blond. Continue reading CAIR Loves ‘Em Some LGF: ‘Glad to See That Chaz Is Now Marketing the Caliphate’ →

Genesis 12:3

“And I will bless them that bless thee,
and curse him that curseth thee . . .”

Disagreements about foreign policy are one thing. Jew-hating is something else. When someone says, “Zionists not welcome,” watch out.

Da Tech Guy informs us that some unpleasantness has developed among counter-jihad bloggers, requiring me to say: I’m with Pamela Geller.

I stand by my concern about the increasing antisemitism in the ranks of the admins at the EDL. We have no intention of breaking with the EDL if they purge these antisemitic elements. If they do not, they will be finished as a force for good in England. I was immediately reassured that these rogue elements would be routed out. End of story.

Like Da Tech Guy, I come to this controversy without any knowledge of the backstory that caused Baron Bodissey to address an open letter to Pamela, and with no enmity toward anyone involved in this dispute. I note that my friend Stogie at Saberpoint signed the open letter, as did Diana West. Given that these people were staunch allies of Pamela during her war with Charles Johnson, I do not doubt the seriousness of the controversy, nor do I question the sincerity of their concern.

On the other hand, if Pamela detects a tendency toward anti-Semitism among some members of the English Defense League, shouldn’t concern be directed toward dumping the Jew-haters — or at least correcting a dangerous misimpression — rather than chastising Pamela?

Leaving aside entirely whatever led to this dispute (again I profess ignorance of the backstory), doesn’t it seem politically prudent for the EDL to err on the side of caution as regards any hint of tolerance toward anti-Semites? And if Pamela had cause to complain, doesn’t this suggest that at least the EDL has been less cautious than they should have been?

Better the blessing than the curse, I say. And some people might be surprised how faithful God is to His promises.

UPDATE: Thanks to Zilla of the Resistance for calling attention to the post with which Pamela Geller stirred up this blog storm, including this key sentence:

Notorious blogger Max Blumenthal at the Huffington Post have even gone so far as to call the EDL “Atlas’s Thugs.” And I never wavered.

Read the whole thing. Again, I profess ignorance of the backstory, but surely the fact that she’s hated by Max Blumenthal is all the justification any conservative needs to support Pamela.

Geert Wilders Not Guilty of Hate Speech

A big victory for free speech in Europe. The courageous Dutchman’s most enthusiastic American admirer Pamela Geller is celebrating.

I trust commenters will alert us when Charles Johnson tries to rationalize this latest defeat for his “Eurofascist” smear campaign.

UPDATE: Could he possibly be more predictable?

Let’s pause first to ask whether anyone did more in the way “inciting hatred” than did Charles Johnson 1.0, back in the day when LGF was foremost among “the right-wing ‘anti-jihad’ loons.” It was only after he conceived a grudge against Pamela Geller (for her attendance at the October 2007 Brussels “Counter Jihad” conference) that Johnson sought to assert his authority among conservative bloggers to issue fatwas against Geller, Robert Spencer and others.

By the time Johnson denounced Geller as a “Poster Girl for Eurofascists” in April 2009, he had already spent some 18 months waging a one-man crusade to purge others (including Ann Coulter and Sean Hannity) from the ranks of “acceptable” conservative voices. And it was only because his attempted purge failed that Johnson then flipped and began positioning himself as an opponent of conservatives who had once been his only supporters. He has never been able to articulate any coherent political rationale for his conversion to the Left, and we can only conclude that his motives were selfish, spiteful and petty.

Thanks to commenter Randy Rager for the tip.

UPDATE II: The relentless LGF-watchers at Diary of Daedalus suggested checking the history of Charles Johnson’s blogging about Wilders, and from January 2008, we find this:

This is significant for a couple of reasons. Just three months earlier, CJ had begun attacking Geller over her association with European anti-jihadists. Yet he was still referring to Islam with the phrase “Religion of Peace™” — i.e., signifying as a conservative supporter of the Global War on Terror — and did not yet identify Wilders as a villainous “hatemonger.”

In early 2008, then, Johnson still identified with the Right, but was trying to push Geller and Spencer out. As I say, it was the failure of that purge — the frustration of his attempt to play arbiter of membership in the conservative blogsophere — that caused him to “part ways”  with the Right.

It’s OK To Relax About Osama

by Smitty

Pamela, I respect you endlessly, but I’m curious: where is the line on too much? Osama was given the proper, standard treatment for the deceased. Chaplains (I presume) did their job.

Many of us, myself in particular, were repulsed and outraged by the revelation that the US military was forced to bury Osma bin Laden according to Islamic precepts, and that it was the priority of the Obama administration that it be done right — much preparation was made prior to the kill. They couldn’t decide on releasing the pictures prior to the kill, but studying Islamic texts and preparing for an Islamic burial, that was what the Obama administration deemed important.

Past the emotion, though: what else were they to do?
I’m no New Yorker (though I did lose a friend in the Pentagon on 9/11) but I’m not tracking where the outpouring of stong emotions is going. Osama was killed, and handled in a common, businesslike manner. In terms of de-escalating the situation, this seems the minimal approach. I’ve heard people say they should have dropped a bunch of ordnance on the compound after departing. Look, the location will be turned into a shrine, in any case, by those obsessessing over the guy.
My argument is that the dispassionate approach is more economical. In response to a commenter, I’m not ‘spitting on the audience’. This is not a ‘concern troll’. This is a call to step back and think a minute.
