Skating, bowling, laser tag — the Metro Fun Center on Atlanta’s south side has lots of entertainment, including live gunfire:

A young woman was who killed in an Atlanta shooting after a fight over a bowling ball late Thursday evening has been identified as the Lakevia Jackson who has a son with well-known rapper Young Thug.
Jackson’s family called the shooting senseless and said they are having a hard time coming to grips with her death during an outing that was meant to be a celebration of life.
“She was celebrating a birthday at the bowling alley with a very close family friend,” said mother Sherina Jackson.
The 31-year-old mother was at out at the Metro Fun Center in a shopping center located 1900 block of Metropolitan Parkway in southwest Atlanta. Her mother said they were bowling when a second group came in and started taking over their space, leading to an argument shortly after 11:30 p.m. over a bowling ball.
Calling the shooting “truly an atrocity,” Atlanta Homicide Commander Ralph Woolfolk did not mince words.
“A young lady has lost her life tonight as result of over an argument over a bowling ball,” Woolfollk said.
The shooter reportedly left the bowling alley and waited in the parking lot for 20 minutes waiting for Jackson to come out.

Incidentally, what is now Metropolitan Parkway used to be called Stewart Avenue, but the city changed it because it was named for Confederate Gen. A.P. Stewart, who commanded a corps in Hood’s army during the battles around Atlanta in 1864. Lots of other streets around Atlanta have been similarly renamed, although how exactly this erasure of history has improved anyone’s quality of life is uncertain:

LaKevia’s shooting death was Atlanta’s 35th homicide investigation this year, police said Friday. By this time last year, there were 28, according to data from the department.

In other words, homicides are up 25% over last year, when there were 158 homicides in Atlanta, the city’s highest total since 1996.

General Stewart could not be reached for comment.

Surely our readers have not forgotten Desmond Hatchett, In 2012, the prolific Knoxville baby-daddy achieved national notoriety:

Desmond Hatchett is pleading with the state of Tennessee to help him pay for child support.
With 30 kids, who could afford to pay child support?
Yes, 30 children by 11 different “baby mamas.”
Desmond explained how it all happened, well you know what we mean, “I had four kids in the same year. Twice.”
The children range in age from toddlers to 14 years old.
He was last in court in 2009, at which time he had 21 children.
That means he’s had at least 9 more children in the last 3 years.
Hatchett only has a minimum wage job, which means some of the moms receive as little as… $1.49 a month.

When last we checked in on him in September 2021, the East Tennessee Sperm King was behind bars:

The Knoxville Police Departments Community Engagement Response Team captured wanted felon Desmond Hatchett, 42, of Knoxville on Sunday around 6:15 p.m., KPD said.
Hatchett was wanted for seven outstanding warrants out of Knox County. These warrants include aggravated burglary, aggravated domestic assault, violation of an order of protection and failure to appear on charges of: rape, robbery, aggravated burglary, KPD said.
Officers spotted a red Ford Taurus known to be occupied by Hatchett and attempted to initiate a traffic stop with him. Hatchett fled from officers at a high rate of speed, according to KPD.
Officers initiated their emergency equipment while on N. Mary Street near Magnolia Avenue, but Hatchett continued to flee from officers for several minutes until he came to a stop in a driveway in the 4100 block of Skyline Drive and fled on foot, KPD said.
After a brief foot pursuit, officers took Hatchett into custody without further incident, according to KPD.
Along with the outstanding warrants previously listed, Hatchett was also charged with evading arrest among several additional minor charges, KPD said.

Now a grand jury has more charges for the Impetuous Impregnator:

A man with over 100 previous charges has been indicted on five more, according to court documents obtained by WVLT News.
This time, Desmond Hatchett, 42, has been indicted on charges of evading arrest, violation of driver’s license law, reckless driving, failure to provide evidence of financial responsibility and violation of window tint law.
Hatchett has previously faced over 100 charges. He has also previously been unable to pay child support for his children, of which he has 21.

Well, that’s 21 that we know of. There’s no telling how many other offspring Hatchett may have sired more recently. Every would-be baby-mama in East Tennessee awaits his release from custody.

Say hello to 30-year-old Gerald Brevard III, a suspected serial killer who was arrested Tuesday, accused of murdering two homeless men and wounding three others in a series of shootings in D.C. and New York.

Longtime readers will not be surprised by this part of the story:

The suspect’s father, Gerald Brevard Jr., told The Daily Beast on Tuesday he was “crushed” to hear the news about his son’s arrest. He said they spoke on Monday, and Brevard “did not say anything out of the ordinary.”
“It was a normal conversation,” the father, who lives in Las Vegas, said. “But he was dealing with mental illness for the longest time. He has been in and out of mental hospitals.”
The father added that his son had never made disparaging comments about the homeless community, and now the family was “shocked, feeling so many different emotions” as they tried to understand what was going through the 30-year-old’s mind the last few weeks.
“This has all come as a surprise. I never thought he would be violent,” Brevard Jr. added. “He was always mild-mannered.” In a separate statement issued to reporters, Brevard Jr. also stressed that despite many encounters with the justice system, his son’s mental illness was never really addressed — which he said showed “how the system has failed regarding the treatment of so many.” . . .
While family expressed shock at his allegedly carrying out targeted—and lethal—attacks, Brevard has a long criminal history.
That history includes allegations of violent crimes, such as in July 2018, when Brevard was charged with assault after allegedly brandishing a knife and attempting to stab another individual during a dispute. In 2019, records show that Brevard was found mentally incompetent after a court-ordered exam and was temporarily committed to a city-operated psychiatric hospital.
In December 2020, Brevard was charged with assaulting a woman in Virginia. A month prior, police said, Brevard pushed a woman against a hotel hallway and assaulted her. When the woman, who suffered minor injuries, yelled for help, Brevard allegedly ran away.

Probably Not a Trump Supporter

Say hello to 42-year-old Tammel Esco, who is accused of a hate crime in New York, and my hunch is, he’s not the MAGA type:

A New York woman was punched more than 125 times in the head and face and stomped on seven times by a man who had allegedly called her an “Asian b*tch,” the Yonkers Police Department said in a news release Monday.
The victim, a 67-year-old Asian woman, was returning home Friday evening when she saw the suspect, whom police identified as Tammel Esco, 42, in front of her building. Esco allegedly used the racial slur as she passed him, police said in the release. . . .
In the Friday incident, the victim ignored Esco and entered the vestibule of her apartment building, according to the police. But as she attempted to open the second door to enter the lobby, Esco allegedly approached her from behind and punched her in the head, knocking her to the floor, the release said.
The department provided surveillance a video of the assault.
In it, a man is seen punching a woman in both the head and face more than 125 times and then stomping her with his foot seven times. Police said he then spat on her.
The woman suffered multiple contusions and lacerations to her head and face, facial bone fractures, and bleeding on the brain, according to the news release. She was taken to a trauma center and is listed in stable condition, according to police.
Police responded to the scene at around 6:11 p.m. Friday, found Esco outside the apartment building and placed him into custody without incident, according to the release.

You won’t be surprised by this information about the attacker:

Yonkers Police Commissioner says Esco has 14 prior arrests, including pushing a woman through a window in Yonkers last February.

There are no mugshots of William Michael Stephens, 39, but there is surveillance video of the dangerous lunatic’s final suicidal episode, in which he rammed his pickup truck into a federal building in downtown Seattle and emerged firing a rifle before being felled by police gunfire. Given the location, I thought when this incident was first reported March 5 that it might be some kind of radical terrorism, Seattle having been the scene of a lot of Antifa protests and such. But instead, it turns out, Stephens was just a garden-variety kook who had descended into paranoia in the weeks leading up to his death:

Before he crashed his pickup into a federal building in downtown Seattle, before he fired a rifle seemingly at random, before he was fatally shot by Seattle police officers, William Michael Stephens scrawled in permanent marker all over his garage door about how there was a plot to kill him.
Stephens, of Bellevue, was moving toward officers with a rifle when he was shot and killed, according to body-worn camera footage released by Seattle police Tuesday. But in recent weeks, Bellevue police and others who knew him had become alarmed by his spiraling mental health crisis, court records show.
He was identified Tuesday as William Michael Stephens, 39, by the King County Medical Examiner’s Office, which determined he died from multiple gunshot wounds. . . .

(You don’t need a coroner’s report to figure out the cause of death when somebody’s full of bullet holes.)

Stephens’ mental health appeared to deteriorate significantly in the last several months, to the extent that five days before he was killed, a Bellevue police officer filed a petition seeking an extreme risk protection order that would have barred Stephens from buying or possessing firearms, court records show.

(That’s nice — his mental health “appeared to deteriorate”? As if there were some doubt? You’re afraid to jump to conclusions?)

In recent weeks, Bellevue police and social workers, along with Stephens’ former attorney and psychiatrist, were gravely concerned by his deteriorating mental state, but were unable to stop him from driving to downtown Seattle on Saturday night and instigating an armed confrontation with police.

(Liberals always tell us that hiring more “social workers” is the solution to problems like this. You might actually believe this, unless you knew any sociology majors in college, in which case you know that there is no problem to which those people are the solution.)

Stephens appeared to believe he was being threatened by the Brazilian mafia, his ex-wife and his ex-pastor, and that evidence of their conspiracy was contained in social media posts, according to the ERPO [extreme risk protection order] petition filed in King County Superior Court on Feb. 28.
A court commissioner signed a temporary ERPO order that same day, but a police officer who attempted to serve Stephens with the court order on March 1, was apparently unable to locate him, the records show.
Police had been called to Stephens’ Bellevue house at least twice in the preceding months, once in January and again Feb. 15.
Both times he tried to explain to officers about a plot to kill him, according to police reports.
On Jan. 29, officers wrote, they tried to offer mental health services, but Stephens refused, insisting his case needed to be taken to the FBI. He never threatened others, they wrote, and did not meet the criteria for involuntary commitment.

(Guy’s nutty as a fruitcake, sure, but he doesn’t “meet the criteria,” because you have a constitutional right to be crazy.)

On Feb. 15, Stephens again called police to his house. Again, he said he did not want to harm himself or others and declined offers of mental health care.
Police referred his case to Bellevue Fire CARES, a city service where staff members, including social workers, seek to help people with needs that may not merit a 911 call or a fire or police response.

(Again, “social workers” prove to be utterly useless.)

Staff at CARES, or Citizen Advocates for Referral and Education Services, called Stephens two days later but got a full voicemail. Three days after that, they visited his home but he wasn’t there.
Two days before Bellevue police asked for the protection order, Stephens’ former psychiatrist, in a witness statement, wrote that he believed Stephens’ behavior was “of grave concern.”
His concerns, the psychiatrist wrote, were for both Stephens and for his ex-wife.
“Mr. Stephens is suffering a very serious Delusion and rapid mental health decompensation and deterioration,” the psychiatrist wrote. “I have treated individuals over the course of 44 years with behaviors such as this which may have the potential to manifest in violence. I believe that Mr. Stephen’s condition is very dangerous.”

(“In short, your honor, Mr. Stephens is daft, demented, wacko, bonkers, a few fries shot of a Happy Meal, which is to say, he’s crazy.”)

At his five-bedroom home on a quiet Bellevue cul-de-sac, Stephens scrawled words and sentences in black and blue permanent marker across the garage and front door. It’s unclear whether Stephens had a specific mental health diagnosis, but the words and phrases suggest the person who wrote them was struggling with paranoia.

(He wasn’t “struggling with paranoia.” He had dived head-first into deep end of the paranoia pool and was swimming in it.)

“I need protective custody,” one says.
“3 Red Lights = compromised Home.”
“Flash one Headlight for signaling.”
“Bellevue Police scared of truth only believe mafia.”
Several of the messages appear to threaten Stephens’ ex-wife. Stephens was arrested for fourth-degree assault domestic violence in 2020.
The ERPO petition for the protection order says Bellevue police believed Stephens “poses a significant danger in the near future” of injuring himself or others if he has a firearm. Stephens has had recent contacts with police, in the last month, the order says, and “appears to be in a declining mental state.”
It says he had recently obtained a concealed pistol license and tried to purchase a gun at Wade’s Gun Shop in Bellevue earlier in February.
Wade’s declined to sell him a gun, the petition says, “after he expressed concerns about a mafia plot to kill him.” . . .
One of Stephens’ neighbors, who asked not to be named to protect his privacy, said he noticed a change in his friend about four months ago when he said Stephens began dating a woman online who lives in Brazil.
Stephens began to believe he was in danger, the neighbor said. He closed down his landscaping business, sold most of his possessions and began sleeping in the attic and the crawl space, the neighbor said. His Facebook page is peppered with incoherent posts about a cult, murder plots and the mafia.
“Really quickly he became super paranoid,” the neighbor said. “He kept asking people what to do, ‘who do I go to, there’s watchers all over the place.’”

Indeed, the “watchers” are everywhere. We’re all under constant surveillance. If you’re reading this on your laptop, probably Microsoft or Apple or Google have a complete list of every website you’ve ever visited, and if you’re reading this on your smartphone, “the watchers” have got your location via GPS. Considering the way technology has made us all vulnerable to surveillance, being paranoid isn’t necessarily the same as being crazy. But what are the “watchers” going to do with all this personal data they’ve acquired about us? Even if we stipulate their malevolent intent — Facebook is obviously a satanic conspiracy — we are somewhat protected by the general incompetence of the authorities.

The case of William Michael Stephens illustrates this. He believed the “watchers” were out to get him, but even while everybody was trying to get him shipped off to the looney bin, he was still free to wander around all over the place, and it wasn’t until he went berserk with a rifle in downtown Seattle that the cops were finally forced to shoot him.

Judge Sentences Jussie Smollett to Jail; Hate Hoaxer Freaks Out Completely

The word for this is histrionics:

Hate crime hoaxer and disgraced actor Jussie Smollett has been sentenced on Thursday to 150 days in Cook County jail, 30 months of probation, pay a restitution of $120,106, and a fine of $25,000.
The actor repeatedly shouted, “I am innocent, and I am not suicidal,” as he was hauled off to jail.
“You’re just a charlatan, pretending to be a victim of a hate crime,” Judge Linn said to Smollett. “Your very name has become an adverb for ‘lying.’”
“Your performance on the witness stand can only be described as pure perjury,” the judge added. “You are now a permanently convicted felon.”
“There is nothing that I can do here today that will come close to the damage you’ve already done to your own life,” Judge Linn said before delivering the sentencing. “You turned your life upside down by your misconduct and shenanigans.”
Judge Linn added that Smollett’s “hypocrisy is astounding,” given that the actor has taken a keen interest in social justice issues for many years, yet staged a hate crime against himself, because he “really craved attention.”
“I believe that you did damage to real hate crime victims,” the judge said to Smollett.
“The officer asked you a simple question. And then you start to lie and haven’t stopped lying since,” the judge said. “You’ve been lying and lying and lying about this case, and that’s why you’re here today.” . . .
During the trial, prosecutors showcased how Smollett had gone through extraordinary lengths in January 2019 to stage a hate crime against himself, in which he hired and paid Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo to carry out the attack.
Smollett had claimed he was physically attacked by two men wearing MAGA hats who put a rope around his neck, poured bleach on him, and shouted racial and homophobic slurs at him, before eventually yelling, “This is MAGA country!” — referring to former President Donald Trump’s campaign slogan.
The brothers later testified that Smollett gave them money to buy the rope they turned into a noose to put around his neck, and the ski masks to hide their faces.

As a descriptor, “Baltimore-area women” is perhaps a suitable synonym for Democratic voters, but let’s learn more:

Four Baltimore-area women have been charged with stealing thousands of dollars of merchandise from Tanger Outlets in Rehoboth Beach.
Delaware State Police said they arrested Antonia Risby, 26, of Baltimore; Adaja Cozart, 24, of Middle River; Jasmin Burgess, 21, of Gwynn Oak; and Cemone Massenberg, 25, of Baltimore.
Police pulled over the black Infiniti sedan they were in, at about 2:41 p.m. March 5, in the parking lot of Bayside Outlets. The sedan’s rear license plate was covered with paper.
The suspects were found to have shoplifting tools, and numerous empty shopping bags from various stores were found in the car.

Investigators say Risby is connected with three other shoplifting incidents at Gap Outlet Store, Victoria Secrets Outlet Store, and Under Armour Factory Store in the Tanger Outlets. Investigators say she stole more than $11,000 worth of merchandise in those cases.
All four women face several felony-level shoplifting charges, including shoplifting over $1,500 and possession of shoplifting tools.

If your shoplifting spree reaches “felony-level,” you might be a Baltimore-area woman. Notice that I’ve quoted two different stories about the same case. That’s because, after seeing one story and wishing to find more details, I decided to Google “Baltimore women shoplifting” and oh, my goodness! It’s the mother lode of crime news!

Four women allegedly stole
$5,600 worth of merchandise
from DSW, Old Navy in Abingdon

Four women from Baltimore have been charged in Harford County with stealing more than $5,600 worth of merchandise from DSW and Old Navy stores in Abingdon.
Sonnova Winchester, 41, Lattie Dower, 48, Shanay Jackson, 27, and Sade Johnson, 26, and are each charged with two counts of theft from $1,500 to less than $25,000 after they were allegedly caught putting merchandise into bags and walking out of the stores without paying for them, according to charging documents.
Winchester has been charged with similar thefts in the last few months: last week in Anne Arundel County and in June in Harford County.
Harford County Sheriff’s deputies were called to DSW shoe store in the Constant Friendship shopping center Tuesday afternoon by store employees, who said they had video of four people putting items in their DSW bags as they tried on various pairs of shoes. . . .
As the deputy was looking at the video, a separate call was dispatched for a theft involving four women at the Old Navy store across the street, in the Boulevard of Box Hill shopping center, according to charging documents. The description of those women matched those in the DSW theft.

 

5 Baltimore women charged
with stealing over $2.7K
from Lancaster Kohl’s, Bon-Ton

Police charged five Baltimore women with conspiring to steal over $2,700 worth of collective merchandise from two clothing stores at a Lancaster mall.
Whitney Muse, 23, Trashell Davis, 18, Kyra Miller, 24, Tyjae Smith, 18, and Lakyah Green, 24, were each arraigned Tuesday on two counts of retail theft, two counts of criminal conspiracy and a single count of possessing an instrument of a crime.
Police responded to Park City Center for a report of retail theft in progress at 6:48 p.m. Monday, according to an affidavit of probable cause.
At least one of the women was seen taking merchandise from Kohl’s, concealing one or more items in a bag from H&M clothing store and leaving the store without paying, police said.
Police located one of the suspects during a vehicle stop about an hour later and found three H&M bags filled with clothing.
Most of the items still had anti-theft devices attached, police said.
An investigation determined $1,654.98 worth of merchandise was stolen from Kohl’s and $1,115.88 worth of items was taken from Bon-Ton at Park City Center.
All five women were placed in Lancaster County Prison: Miller, Davis and Smith on $50,000 bail, and Muse and Green on $40,000 bail, according to court records.

It would probably be unfair to stereotype the female population of an entire city based on a handful of incidents. On the other hand, many would be tempted to say of Baltimore what Obi Wan Kenobi said of Mos Eisley: “You will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villainy.”

Say hello to Frank Abrokwa, 37, who has been arrested in New York City more than 20 times since 1999 and those of my readers who are good at math will immediately realize that this means this perpetrator has been perpetrating at least one crime a year since he was 14. Other of my readers may be wondering, “What kind of name is Abrokwa?”

The answer is Ghanaian. There is apparently a shortage of career criminals in New York, so they’re importing them, and turning them loose to terrorize the citizenry. But I don’t feel sorry for the citizens of New York, because they voted for these policies.

Joe Biden got 78% of the vote in Manhattan, and 61% statewide. The state legislature, controlled by Democrats, enacted a “bail reform” law that mandated the release of nearly all criminal suspects (because “social justice”) without paying a cent of bail. That this has resulted in an unprecedented crime wave should surprise no one; it was predicted at the time the “bail reform” law was being debated, but the Democrats who run New York simply didn’t care. Considering then that this disaster is a self-inflicted wound, a consequence of the embrace of the Democratic Party by the people of New York, it is difficult to find sympathy for the individual victims of the current crime wave. We recall H.L. Mencken’s famous observation, “Democracy is the theory that the common people know what they want, and deserve to get it good and hard.”

How about being smeared with feces “good and hard”?

A Bronx man who allegedly smeared human feces on a woman’s face on a subway platform last week has been arrested, NYPD said.
Frank Abrokwa, 37, approached a 43-year-old woman who was sitting on a bench on the southbound platform of the Wakefield-241st Street subway station in the Bronx around 5:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 21, cops said.
Suddenly, without saying a word, he hit the unsuspecting woman in the face and the back of her head with human feces before fleeing, footage released by police showed. . . .
Abrokwa was arrested Monday and charged with forcible touching, menacing, disorderly conduct and harassment.

All of which are misdemeanors, by the way, and Abrokwa was promptly released without bail. This attack occurred in the Bronx, which is represented in Congress by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez. Did the victim of Abrokwa’s subway fecal attack vote for AOC? If so, I find it difficult to say she does not deserve to be smeared with feces. Were it within my power to make it possible, everyone who voted for AOC — who got 152,661 votes in 2020 — would be treated the same way.

The sicko who allegedly smashed his own feces in a Bronx straphanger’s face joked with cops that “s–t happens” before sneering to a Bronx judge, “F–k you, bitch.”
Frank Abrokwa, 37, was busted Monday at his homeless shelter in connection to the revolting Feb. 21 attack, according to cops and police sources.
Upon arrest, he made light of the attack, quipping to cops, “S–t happens. Haha. This is a s–tty situation. Haha,” Bronx Assistant District Attorney Grace Phillips said during Abrokwa’s arraignment late Tuesday.
Abrokwa — apparently impatient because Brooklyn detectives showed up to arrest him for an unrelated hate crime from September — also made a scene in Bronx Criminal Court.
Prior to his appearance before Judge Wanda Licitra, he could be heard in the holding area grumbling, “Why am I still here? I’m f–king tired of it. I’m hungry.” . . .
Phillips requested an order of protection for the 43-year-old feces victim — prompting an outburst from Abrokwa, who told the judge, “I don’t know that b—h,” referring to the victim.
“Can I go with the Brooklyn detectives?” he pleaded.
He then lashed out at the judge, lamenting, “Why am I being mistreated by the system?”
“I’m being respectful. I’m talking to my attorney,” he snapped at the jurist. “You’re talking to her. Not to me. F–k you, bitch.”
At that point, Licitra called the case and had Abrokwa removed from the courtroom — but brought him back in later to continue the arraignment, which lasted about 40 minutes.
Ultimately, Abrokwa was freed without bail — because the charges against him were not bail-eligible under the state’s bail reform laws, despite prosecutors’ request for him to be held on $15,000 bond, or $5,000 cash.
Horrifying video of the attack shows Abrokwa allegedly slapping a bag filled with his own crap in the victim’s face — and then rubbing it on the back of her head — as she sat on a bench at the Wakefield-241st Street subway station.
Just before the attack, Abrokwa approached the victim and said, “Hey mami, how come you don’t want to talk to me?,” Phillips said.
“The complainant did not engage with the defendant,” the ADA said. “Instead of taking the lack of engagement in stride, the defendant responded with violence. He walked into a nearby idling subway car and defecated in a bag.”
“He then walked back to the complainant and repeatedly smashed the bag and left his feces in her face, head, neck, shoulders and back area. She had feces in her eyes, and hair. As he attacked, the defendant stated in sum and substance: ‘Like this, bitch?’”
The victim used her bag to shield herself but suffered a small bleeding cut inside her lip, and a swollen and red forehead, Phillips said.
But just after being freed in the Bronx, Abrokwa was nabbed in connection to the Brooklyn hate crime.
In that case, Abrokwa approached a 46-year-old man on Utica Avenue near Park Place in Crown Heights around 5:30 p.m. Sept. 9 and snarled, “F–king Jew, I’m going to kill you,” cops said.
