NBC’s Maria Shriver Raves About How Abortion Barbie ‘Became a Star’

Erick Erickson dubbed Texas Democrat state Sen. Wendy Davis “Abortion Barbie” last year when she filibustered a bill to reduce the legal window for abortion from 24 to 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Stop and think about that for a minute: 24 weeks is nearly six months. Even if you are an advocate of “a woman’s right to choose,” you can hardly say that limiting abortion to 20 weeks is a serious infringement of that right. With advances in neonatal medicine, a fetus at 24 weeks is now viable. Let’s not mince words: Abortion at such a late stage of pregnancy is killing a baby that could survive.

Yet maintaining the legality of abortion at 24 weeks in Texas was such a crusade for Wendy Davis and Democrats that they shut down debate in the legislature to try to stop a bill — one with widespread voter support — to limit abortion to 20 weeks. And they did this even in the aftermath of the horrific Kermit Gosnell revelations.

So, guess who NBC decided to feature on the Today show?

In a glowing profile of Texas state senator and Democratic gubernatorial candidate Wendy Davis that amounted to a campaign commercial on Wednesday’s NBC Today, correspondent Maria Shriver proclaimed: “Wendy Davis became a familiar name last year when she stood in her pink tennis shoes for eleven hours to defeat a Texas abortion bill. Even though the bill eventually passed, Davis became a star. And her story, her personal story, resonated across this country.” . . .
Beyond vaguely describing how Davis tried to “defeat a Texas abortion bill,” Shriver failed to ask a single question about the would-be governor’s staunch support for abortion in such a pro-life state. . . .
Having not once referred to Davis as liberal, Shriver made sure to label her Republican opponent: “Her likely opponent is Texas state attorney general Greg Abbott. He’s a man with a conservative record to match the blanket of red that covers most of Texas.”
According to a poll conducted by the Democratic polling company Public Policy Polling in November, Davis trailed Abbot by fifteen points. Shriver avoided any such polling data in her report.

 

Kyle Drennan’s report at Newsbusters doesn’t mention the crude partisan calculation involved in the Davis campaign (and NBC’s one-sided promotion of her campaign). Everybody knows Davis is ultimately doomed. However, by turning Davis into a national celebrity for “a woman’s right to choose” and then running her for governor, Democrats turned her into a magic fundraising machine.

This won’t turn Texas “blue,” but it will force Republicans to spend more money than usual to elect Greg Abbott governor. And this is a national Democrat Party strategy to force Texas GOP donors (who otherwise might be funding Republican candidates in “swing” districts around the country) to keep their money “at home.” The meltdown of ObamaCare has evidently upset that strategy — Democrats are now clearly on the defensive, and there is now little prospect Nancy Pelosi can recapture the House speaker’s gavel — but that was what the whole media-generated Wendy Davis “star” saga was originally about, and it’s disgusting.

Wendy Davis, Maria Shriver and Democrats’ fanatical support of “choice” is revealed as a bloodthirsty enthusiasm for death.

‘Gentleman’ Jim Moran’s “Occupy NOVA” Reign Of Error Staggering To A Halt

DLTDHYOTWO, Jim. It’s been a crummy 15 years I’ve lived in VA-8, and watched the country increasingly go down the tubes since the Democrat takeover of Congress in 2006, knowing that you’re a ringleader of the debacle.  I don’t mean crummy for me, personally: I’ve only endured one brief bout of unemployment. But, in doing the proper thing and voting against you, I guess I’ve voted “against my interests”. It seems like the Washington, DC equivalent of Occupy Wall Street, your career, only with women in lieu of drums. God have mercy on your soul, and help this country come to understand just how diabolical you and your ilk have been.

And now let’s take a walk through the archives, and sample the low notes:

Ding, dong, da dork definitely departing! This blog can do a victory lap at the news of “Gentleman” Jim Moran’s decision to spend more time with his family next year.
Is there an ulglier record of public disservice that we can think of? Well, yes, but the number is a lot lower than it should be. We should say nice things about the gentleman.
He really has been a source of great post fodder. Like when ManBearPig flew in  to tout the tired termite.Obama said “because of Jim’s leadership, our brave service members and veterans are better protected, our civil service is stronger, and our air and water are cleaner and safer”. If a thicker wallet is a sign of strength, then the civil service portion of that phrase is true. Even if we did not always agree with Moran, we should try to find a way to respect his efforts, if possible. If not possible, at least go to some place like the Iwo Jima Memorial, and stand close to the statue, and try to transfer some respect from that to Jim Moran for as long as considering him is necessary. 
Moran was so far out to lunch as to afford Chris Matthews an opportunity to appear reasonable. Moran was certainly a man from a different era. Say, Tudor England, when the nobles were nutter and the peasants had best hold their peace.
While Virginia-8 includes the Pentagon and Mount Vernon, even the most abject tool of a veteran would have nothing more than absolutely necessary to do with a piece of work like Jim Moran. It is possible that Wesley Clark may personally esteem Jim Moran.
Should we have been shocked at Moran’s support for the Ground Zero Mosque? Money spoke, and in the language of currenncy he enjoys fluency. Moran’s regard for paying customers is a lesson for all politicians.

The Mark Center debacle is still jacking up traffic on 395 (way to feign surprise, Jim). I still hear mentions of the bizarre commuting arrangements triggered by the dopey decision to put those jobs Right There. One can only assume that your real estate portfolio was cheered by the result. Moran’s support for the arts, as at the Mark Center, was offbeat. What no one understood at the time that the whole bullfrog gag was a Three Dog Night reference.That Jim Moran sure is a complex guy.
George Washington was a surveyor; maybe that explains some of Moran’s hankerin’ for real estate. In defense of Moran, he never did anything that the voters did not permit, and in fact re-elect him to do. Admittedly, this is tantamount to blaming sheep for bespoke suits, but baaaad jokes are what I do.
The bit with Martin Bashir referencing Allen West as the hyena and Barack Obama as the Lion King. There has to be some kind of award for blending petty and stupid like that. It is a good thing that Moran confines himself to cartoons. One shudders to think what could happen if he were exposed to any of Quentin Tarantino’s oeuvre.

So then the question moves to whether (a) Patrick Murray will run again, and (b) whether conservatives can build the enthusiasm and turn out the vote to overcome whatever godless Commie freakshow zombie carcass the Democrats pump full of embalming fluid and send out to continue the Moran tradition of voting for MOAR GUMMINT!

Pervert Teacher Alicia Gray: ‘Hey, I’m Totally Sorry for Boinking a 14-Year-Old’

You may recall I highlighted Alicia Gray’s crime in a post about female sex offenders entitled “She Craved the Taste of Boy Flesh.” In the interest of fairness, we must now report that she has admitted that giving a 14-year-old boy a blowjob was a bad idea:

A former Alabama math teacher recorded and released a video apology after pleading guilty to charges that she had sex with a 14-year-old student.
Alicia Gray, 28, accepted a plea deal Jan. 10 and was convicted in exchange for six months in jail and five years probation. She also lost her teaching certificate and will have to register as a sex offender. . . .
In a video produced by Gray’s church, Deeper Life Fellowship, the woman asks forgiveness from “those she hurt,” including the 14-year-old boy with whom she had sex last year. She credits her faith with helping her through the year.
“I realize I hurt many people and I also realize the implications of what I’ve done, and the possible difficulties that have been caused to people who have been hurt,” Gray says in the video, reading the statement she made in court Friday. “I apologize for what I’ve done. The person I was a year ago is gone.”

(Translation: “The person I was a year ago was having felony sex with a ninth-grader, which was awesome until I got caught. That doesn’t mean I’m a bad person, so don’t hate me.”)

Administration officials at Mary G. Montgomery High School, where Gray worked, contacted police after learning of her relationship with a student in February 2013.
The relationship began New Year’s Day when Gray and the victim exchanged messages on Facebook, and ultimately became sexual, with the teacher sending him nude photos, and engaging in oral sex with him.
With her husband by her side, Gray turned herself in to police on Feb. 25 of last year.

(“With her husband by her side” — how creepy is that, huh? When your wife decides to get it on with a high-school freshman, it’s maybe kind of a hint she’s not really all that into you.)

Now she says she found God.

(Alas, somewhat belatedly.)

“I had insecurities. I had pain in my own heart and a void that I needed to fill through attention,” Gray says in the video. “That void was needing Jesus.”

 

OK, then, let that be a lesson for the rest of you: If faced with a choice between (a) having sex with a 14-year-old and (b) finding God, it’s probably best to choose (b), because if you choose (a), you may subsequently change your mind after you get (c) arrested, (d) charged with a felony and (e) sentenced to jail as a sex offender.

When the going gets weird, my Twitter timeline gets interesting. It is perhaps unnecessary to remind readers of these recent items:

To summarize briefly, radical lesbian feminists reject the claims of “trans women” to inclusion, and this rejection is denounced by “trans women” as hate. This bizarre controversy is occurring on the extreme fringe of the culture wars, which doesn’t mean that the conflict isn’t taken seriously by the participants. At a radical progressive conference last May in Portland, Oregon, transgender activists attacked two women “in a coordinated assault as they sat at a table which sold feminist books and literature.” Obviously, I have no (heteronormative patriarchal) dog in this fight, but as the first conservative to pay much attention to this intramural left-wing scrimmage, I felt it might be helpful to translate terms into the vernacular:

You’ll notice here that I used the colloquial synonym “shemale” because the word “transphobic” was already in the headline, and the vivid slang term is also an eye-catcher. It’s click-bait. The object of a headline is to get the reader’s attention, which is why the New York Post often uses words “thug” or “perv” in headlines of stories about perpetrators of violence or sexual deviance. At any rate, a certain troll decided that I should be exposed as a hatemonger:


The person who got trolled up then decided to hector me at some length, as if I’ve got nothing else to worry about except being sensitive to the feelings of the transgender community.

OK, if East Tennessee’s Most Famous Transgender Feminist™  wants widespread attention, how about this fascinating “When Did You Know You Were Trans” video, huh?

I knew when I would play with the other girls, when I had a desire to be like them, a feeling that I should be like them, a feeling that I should not be like this — and them telling me that that feeling was wrong.
I knew that night they made fun of me in the parking lot of the mall when we were walking back to the car. They made fun of me for being “effeminate”. I knew when they used to punish me for crying and call me a pussy and tell me to “man up”. . . .
I knew when I would go to school only to be called a “faggot” by the boys they forced me to be around when, try as I might, I couldn’t fit in with them or feel comfortable around them. I knew when those boys told me to cut my hair and tried to hit me and called me a girl like it was an insult. The boys that they said were like me, that they wanted me to be like, the boys that I didn’t want to be.
I knew when they would toss around transphobic slurs like it was nothing. I knew when they called them “shemales” and “trannies” and “it” and no one batted an eye — but I did. . . .
I knew when my dysphoria got worse and despite all that I wasn’t sure that what I was feeling was legitimate because I didn’t want to be a 1950?s housewife, that I didn’t know if my sexual attraction to men was legitimate because I didn’t want to have sex with anyone as a man and I had never been with a man, that maybe I was just an “autogynephile” because the thought of having sex as a woman (god forbid!) turned me on. . . .

You can read the whole weird thing, and sympathize or not, but the point is that you have a right to think what you want, no matter how much the Eternally Victimized insist they are entitled to your sympathy.

You can never pity the Eternally Victimized as much as they pity themselves, but failing to RSVP an invitation to their pity party? That’s hate! How dare you withhold your approval!

As to the controversy between radical feminists and “trans women,” permit me to predict that the radical feminists will ultimately lose that battle, which is not to say they should lose. The experience and goals of radical feminists — i.e., man-hating Marxist lesbians — are different from and essentially at odds with the experience and goals of transgenders. On the one hand, radical feminists deserve credit for being honest about what they want and why they want it, but on the other hand, @papierhache is ultimately less dangerous, if only because the whole ridiculous Helpless Tranny Victim trip is so pathetic.

Inadequacy doesn’t really rate as a militant cause.

#NV04 Gets Interesting

My friend Niger Innis declared himself a candidate for Congress in Nevada’s 4th District today. Niger faces a GOP primary contest against a good conservative, and I’ve got some issues on his immigration policy, but (a) he’s my friend and (b) his candidacy may raise the profile of this key 2014 House race:

Republican Niger Innis on Wednesday launched his Nevada congressional campaign on a populist note, saying he wants to revive the “American dream” by expanding job opportunities for the poor and middle class and by helping small businesses thrive.
He said Democrats have not done enough to provide equal opportunity for the poor and middle class.
Innis slammed U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., for lamenting the gap between the rich and poor even though Reid has been in the majority power seat for seven years, including periods when Democrats held both houses and the White House and had more ability to make changes.
“They want to run on income inequality? Bring it on!” Innis said.
Innis also said his campaign will unveil a comprehensive immigration reform plan that would provide a pathway to U.S. citizenship for many of the 11 million illegal immigrants living in the United States, although he said he would place a premium on ensuring the security of the U.S. border.
He said he’ll offer a health plan as well as Nevadans and Americans struggle to gain insurance coverage, now required by President Barack Obama’s health insurance law.
“We are a state that is filled with a diverse population of people who are not looking for government to solve their problems, but get out of the way of opportunity,” Innis said.
Innis, a conservative African-American and a member of the small-government Tea Party movement, is running for the 4th Congressional District seat now held by Rep. Steven Horsford, D-Nev., a freshman and Nevada’s first black congressman. Innis also faces a primary against Assemblyman Cresent Hardy, R-Mesquite.
The vast congressional district, created in 2012 after the latest U.S. Census, covers most of northern Clark County, part of Lyon County, and all of Esmeralda, Lincoln, Mineral, Nye and White Pine counties. Still, more than four-fifths of the district’s population lives in Clark County, which is the home base for both Horsford and Innis.

Hey, we need to talk about this “pathway to citizenship” thing, OK? But other than that, good luck.
