Friendly Murray’s Jocular Rejoinder Available

Blogging can be rewarding, as I discovered. Thursday there was a post at RetireJimMoran.com about “Gentleman” Jim denigrating military service. So I wrote the most scathing post possible, as did a bazillion other blogs, circulated it, as one does, and Friday the story was on the local news. While Patrick Murray is doing all the hard work of actually running for office, and gets both the credit and the napalm showers for all of the tough votes awaiting in the next Congress, it’s a blast to feel like a tiny voice in the chorus attempting to punt an odious Congressman.
After the campaign event last night, Patrick Murray had this to say about the ‘Public Service’ story:

PATRICK MURRAY for U.S. CONGRESS
Later, we can wonder why VA-8 tolerated atrocious represntation by Jim Moran for so long.

And now, on with our regularly scheduled FMJRA

On the Seavey-Rittelmeyer Affair

“[H]er often brutal-sounding philosophy really is, when you dig through the layers, a brutal philosophy, genuinely aimed at hurting people, which has spillover effects in practice in everyday life, as one perhaps should have anticipated, but who thinks people are being serious when they praise cruelty, especially if people are about 5’4″ and look like harmless librarians?”
— Todd Seavey, Oct. 18, 2010

Earlier this week, the entire blogosphere enjoyed a laugh at the expense of Todd Seavey or Helen Rittlemeyer, depending on who you thought got the worst of that infamous episode when Seavey decided that a C-SPAN panel discussion hosted by Jonah Goldberg provided the perfect occasion to disparage his ex-girlfriend.

As I consider the Amazing Miss Rittelmeyer a friend, and have only the slightest acquaintance with Seavey, I naturally think that Seavey might as well have poured gasoline on himself and struck a match, so complete was his self-immolation.

But he actually self-immolated before he even met her, I think. He posted an online personal ad so pompous as to make Jackie Mackie Paisley Passey seem modest by comparison. Read more

Props to Steve Burri for showing a bit of old school contempt for the kind of hucksters we have in office these days:

I really need to quit goofing off in the Google Reader and #sellingbetterthanMilbank and get the FMJRA done.

Jimmie Bise Asks: ‘Why Should The GOP Compromise?’

Posted on | October 23, 2010 | 15 Comments

by Smitty

Jimmie Bise asks a crucial question about the GOP going wobbly.

. . .the real question, which isn’t if the GOP will compromise but why they should. Every recent poll shows that the voting public hate the progressive agenda the Democrats have foisted on us. They want Hope and Change undone and the new solutions of an ascendant GOP, which are really nothing more than the time-tested principles of conservatism, put in their place.

That may be the real question, but the answer is founded upon the will and willpower of We The People.
A twelve year old Onion article anticipates the common reaction to a new Congress, sober accounting, possibly and audit of the Federal Reserve:
“Poll: 73 Percent Of Americans Unable To Believe This S**t”

PRINCETON, NJ–According to the latest Gallup Poll, conducted Monday and Tuesday of this week, nearly three out of four Americans can no longer believe this s**t.

In addition to the 73 percent of poll respondents who described this s**t as “beyond belief,” 9 percent said they could “hardly” believe this s**t, with another 5 percent “just barely” believing it. An additional 13 percent said they “couldn’t give a flying f**k about the whole g*****n thing.”

The poll also found that the National S**t-Credulity Index (NSCI) has hit an all-time low, with only 2 percent of Americans describing themselves as “fully confident of [their] capacity to believe this s**t.”

“The American people have had to deal with this kind of s**t for years,” Gallup Organization president Lee Sanderson said, “but now, for the first time, it appears that the vast majority of them just can’t f*****g believe it anymore.”

Read the whole NSFW thing.
Underneath all the raw scatalogical humor though is the point that the two years of h’ors d’Obama offer a hint of how weird things are going to get. Our country is Bluto Blatarski, drunk on debt, dimly aware that the distant throbbing emanating from the brainstem is a hellish hangover harbinger.
Truly, I doubt that the 111th Congress even knows how screwed up things are. We’re just going to have to audit the Federal Reserve, and see what’s in it, to paraphrase the worst Speaker the House has ever had. We should expect the National Debt figures to be as baked as any of Mann’s anthropogenic global warming research, or whatever label he’s attached to his turd today. We simply cannot trust Congress without a thorough, peaceful, electoral purge of all of the Progressives, period.
And then we have to back up that purge with rock solid resolve. I’m paraphrasing General Mattis here, and addressing the GOP:

We come in peace. We didn’t bring artillery. But we’re pleading with you, with tears in our eyes: If you screw with us, we’ll eject you all.

The GOP needs to respect this Tea Party truth with about an order of magnitude more fervor than it feels the Progressive temptation.

Forget Client #9 And Whatshername: Give Me Da Tech Guy And William Jacobson

Somebody whose blog-fu exceeds mine handily is Da Tech Guy. While out galavanting with RSM, he paid a visit to William Jacoboson of Legal Insurrection, another premier blogger.

The big question here is why these two don’t have a talk show. Unlike so much of the swill sloshing about on the cable networks, here are two chaps who would (a) have an audience and (b) dare to edify it.
It’s interesting that the short interview should mention Joe Miller, who, like Patrick Murray, is a professional patriot beset by a Ruling Class tool, and completely deserving of all available support:

Sheila Jackson-Lee Is a Corrupt Democrat. But I Repeat Myself . . .

Posted on | October 22, 2010 | 13 Comments

It is one of pet conceits of liberal Democrats that the long-established practice of having poll-watchers — party volunteers who are assigned to polling places to ensure that no vote fraud occurs — amounts to “voter intimidation” intended to “suppress” minority voting.

Vote fraud is a crime that Democrats practice habitually, routinely, as a matter of historic tradition, and which is made possible by the overwhelming dominance of the Democratic Party in urban districts. It is in such precincts that the electoral franchise is customarily extended to tombstones and vacant lots.

This has been the practice of the Democratic Party since the 19th century — the headline “Dewey Defeats Truman” would have been true, had it not been for blatant vote fraud in Chicago — but in recent years Democrats have sought to divert attention from their electoral corruption by crying “voter intimidation” when GOP poll-watchers attempt to prevent such crimes.

You will perhaps not be surprised to learn that Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Texas) is a co-sponsor of H.R. 97, The Deceptive Practices and Voter Intimidation Prevention Act of 2009. And you will also not be surprised to learn that Sheila Jackson-Lee is a lying two-faced hypocrite. Melissa Clouthier reports at Liberty Pundits:

Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-Houston) violated election laws when, on Monday, October 18, she entered into Acres Home Multiservice Community Center, walked to where the voting booths were looking for the poll watchers, greeted voters there, and then found and confronted the poll watchers before being directed to, and then asked by, the presiding judge Bernard Gurski to leave the area.
A source speaking on the condition of anonymity said that she heard people say that Sheila Jackson Lee was in the voting area. The lobby of the building was chaotic because some people were in line to vote and some people were in line for the food bank.
So the source, a poll watcher, went into the room housing the voting booths and there stood Congresswoman Lee shaking hands with voters and greeting others–clearly electioneering. The poll watcher then went to one of the clerks and asked the presiding judge to take care of it.
While this occurred, the poll watcher heard Lee loudly say to the crowd in the voting area,”I’ve heard a lot of complaints about voter intimidation by poll watchers. I am not going to allow voter intimidation.”The poll watcher started writing the incident down.
Lee then went to the poll watcher and asked, ”What’s your name? Who do you represent?” . . .

Read the whole thing. Here you have Jackson-Lee campaigning inside a polling place and accusing poll-watchers of “intimidation” in a precinct where violations of election code are reported to be “systemic.”

Sheila Jackson-Lee is arrogant. She talks on her cell phone during town-hall meetings. She has been accused of violating FEC law and failing to remit payroll taxes.

Sheila Jackson-Lee obviously doesn’t think she can be defeated.

Latest Polls Show Republicans Now Leading Key House Races in MD-1, FL-22

Posted on | October 22, 2010 | 1 Comment

In Maryland’s 1st District, Republican Andy Harris leads freshman Democrat Rep. Frank Kratovil by 11 points, according to a new poll by Monmouth University, even though the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent more than $1 million to help Kratovil.

Meanwhile, in Florida’s 22nd District, Republican Allen West appears to have gained the upper hand against second-term incumbent Democrat Rep. Ron Klein. West leads 47-44 among likely voters, and “West’s 3-point lead grows to 5 points among respondents who say their chances of voting are ‘excellent’ (49-44).”

Here’s a look at some of the TV ads running in these districts. First, an Allen West ad addressing economic issues:

Next, a Ron Klein ad depicting West as an extremist:

Reckless from Ron Klein for Congress on Vimeo.

Next, from Maryland, an ad highlighting Andy Harris’ military service:

And a DCCC ad depicting Harris as a tool of Big Business lobbyists:

These kinds of ads are now running in saturation intensity in every key House district — as many as 100 out of 435 are currently considered “competitive” — as candidates, party campaign committees and outside groups seek to shape voters’ perceptions. It currently appears that Republicans are winning despite the blizzard of Democrat attack ads. A new survey by Pew reports “Republicans hold a 12-point edge among likely voters in the most competitive districts in the nation,” but Moe Lane thinks there is something devilish about that poll.
