VIDEO: Is Wes Donehue Evil?
Or Is Will Folks Total Scum?

You may remember these text messages about Nikki Haley from South Carolina GOP consultant Wes Donehue to Will Folks:

From: Wes Donehue

I just don’t know who has told more people, you or Nikki.

Here my promise to you, man to man. If you tell me that a story will f*ck up your marriage, I’ll do everything in my power to kill it.

Now, I don’t give a f*ck [if] you believe me or not. [You’re] the one who screwed her. You’re the one who bragged about it. She’s the one who told BJ. Yall point fingers at your own damn selves and leave me the f*ck out of it.

From: Wes Donehue
To: Will Folks

I’m going to try to kill it. You need to get BJ to back down. Nothing good will come of this getting out. I’ve already helped bust up one family. No need to take down another one.

I didn’t start this. I just told too many people that it was happening.

OK, so Donehue said he would do what he could to kill the story, but wanted to be left out of it. And as he he says in this video (beginning at 0:42), Donehue “was drug into something I don’t want to be drug into.”

Donehue has been consistent: He wanted no part of this story. So why would Will Folks attempt to portray Donehue as an “instigator”? We don’t know. Perhaps he was attempting to draw as many people as possible into his personal melodrama.

However, so that you might assess Donehue’s personality and character, here is the latest episode of the South Carolina online video program, “Pub Politics,” which Donehue co-hosts:

Here’s something else of interest: Wes Wolfe, the journalist who co-authored the award-winning 2008 “Hit List” article for the Columbia (S.C.) Free Press, talks about how Will Folks reacted to the Haley rumor in 2009:

[A]pparently a little less than a year ago, Folks got himself all worked up in a lather thinking that we were going to break the story that’s consuming so many people these days. But we weren’t. Never were. Never even considered it. Whole thing kind of caught us off-guard at the time.

So Will Folks’ panic about press interest in the rumor a year ago was unwarranted. Nor was the rumor new among South Carolina political types:

By the way, we heard back in early ‘08 that Haley and Will Folks had an affair. There are a lot of people in this state to which the news is not news.

In April, Wolfe shared his extremely low opinion of Will Folks:

After all, the blogger kiddo of S.C. politics has been doing everything short of going to the corner of Gervais and Main to wear a sandwich board to get the dumber people interested in state politics to pay attention to his bullsh*t. . . .
And, let’s not forget that it looks like the anti-social whiner has pissed off one of his last backers, the S.C. Policy Council, a so-called “non-partisan” (yeah, whatever) group chaired by Rick Quinn. The second that started falling apart, the child started ripping Quinn’s boy’s site, The Palmetto Scoop . . .
If Folks was any more needy, he’d be the kitty from Thundercats, sending up a signal to call Lion-O back home. So, by all means, please justify this a**hole’s existence! Otherwise he might go back to fatty coffee beverages and fried chicken!

So Folks is an “anti-social whiner,” and in April 2010 had lost “one of his last backers.” In addition to his low opinion of Will Folks, Wolfe expressed contempt for Folks’ patron, Gov. Mark Sanford and Sanford’s protege, Haley:

Will Folks is a world-class wuss. Coward. Dipsh*t. He hides behind his high-priced attorneys and the imbeciles who give him information, and acts like he’s hot sh*t. That’s most likely why another world-class coward and dipsh*t, Mark Sanford, hired this idiot to begin with. Also likely why his joke of a protégé, Rep. Nikki Haley, did the same.

In the same post, Wolfe says he believes the rumor of a Haley-Folks affair, but understands Haley’s denial:

Why Haley is lying isn’t a surprise. If you f—-d that bald ugly fool, whether you’re married with children or not, would you want the world knowing about it? Doubtful.

Ah, if — the most powerful little word in the English language. But there is nothing tentative, hypothetical or equivocal in Wolfe’s assessment of Will Folks. See Rule 6.

New MLB Trend: Obama Batting

by Smitty

Stunned by his ‘unexpected’ performance as a pitcher, major league baseball batters have taken up the challenge of assuming a more contemplative, thoughtful style while facing men on the mound.

This has resulted in the second perfect game of the season, this one going to Roy Halladay of the Phillies.

Batters are pleased at the increase in nuance at the plate. Jimbo Toraborawycyz of the Washington Nationals: “We’re parsing these pitches with more style than ever.” To fans who crave something with a little more substance, JT said “We credit Barack Obama with curbing the scourge of substance abuse in Major League Baseball. The de-emphasis on tired old ideas like ‘winning’ and ‘losing’ has helped us re-organize our emphasis along cooperative, harmonious lines to ensure positive end-states for all participants, regardless of race, color or creed.”

Rule 5 Sunday

by Smitty

Rule 5 Sunday salutes Gary Coleman and Dennis Hopper. May the Almighty rest their souls. Memorial Day is the other substantial occasion before us. The liberals are particularly amusing at times like this, as they pause from hating America to admiring actual courage to put action behind love of liberty. After the holiday, they can return to their typical America-hating, hating themselves and the country afresh for having paused in their hatred briefly to admire full, robust, mature American courage of a sort they cannot emulate, and must therefore hate.
But Rule 5 is about anything but hate.

Dave Weigel, Joe McGinniss, Jesse Griffin and the Palin-Hater Next Door

I consider David Weigel a friend, and have often praised him as one of the best young reporters in Washington. But Weigel’s “See-No-Evil” attitude toward Joe McGinniss, who moved in next door to the Palin family to work on his anti-Palin book, seems absurdly naive.

While you can’t fault a journalist for associating with potential sources, a commenter in a previous post called my attention to something strange — perhaps the better word would be “skeezy” or “hinky” — about Joe McGinniss.

Remember Jesse Griffin, who masqueraded behind the “Gryphen” pseudonym as a vicious anti-Palin blogger and Trig-Truther? And remember how he lost his job at an Alaska elementary school after his identity was revealed and school officials learned how he’d been promoting pornography and masturbation on his blog (extreme language warning) while being paid by taxpayers to supervise young children?

Well, guess what? Joe McGinnis is a “huge fan” of Jesse Griffin, as confirmed by none other than . . . Jesse Griffin:

I found the table that our host Phil Munger had reserved for us and sat down with some of his other guests, who I did not know, but who turned out to be fans of both IM and Mudflats. (Oh did I mention that AKM was with me?)
Soon I was introduced to author Joe McGinniss, who is up here researching HIS Sarah Palin book, and who also turned out to be a huge fan of both AKM’s and I. (I swear I will NEVER get used to hearing that.)
— Jesse Griffin, a/k/a “Gryphen,” October 3, 2009

In case you didn’t get the reference, “IM” is Jesse’s “Immoral Minority” blog where he described his ironclad certainty that Sarah Palin’s fifth child “was not conceived in her uterus,” declared how much fun it is to “wank off” to amateur porn, advised youngsters that “your penis will respond more readily” if you practice by “watching porn on your computer.” and told the world that “it brings me joy to work with these children.”

You betcha!

When this porn-blogging Trig-Truther obsessive Palin-hater was forced to resign from Trailside Elementary School in Anchorage  in August 2009, it wasn’t exactly a secret. so why — two months later, in October 2009 — was Joe McGinniss raving about being a “huge fan” of Jesse Griffin’s Immoral Minority blog? Why is McGinniss laughing it up with Griffin at the “celebrity table” all night?

And why doesn’t it bother Dave Weigel that McGinniss is such a “huge fan” of a vile joke like Jesse Griffin and the obnoxious gadfly “AKM” (Jeanne Devon)?

Humor: Possible Transcript From Deleted O’Keefe Cel Phone Video

by Smitty

Patterico has the play by play of the confiscation of O’Keefe’s phone within the office of Sen. Mary “Louisiana Purchase” Landrieu, the “destruction” of that footage by U.S. Magistrate Daniel Knowles III, and the return of the phone to O’Keefe.

The key piece of evidence is supposed to be that

One of Senator Landrieu’s staff members (WITNESS 1) told BASEL and FLANAGAN that she did not report any phone problems and that the office was not experiencing any issues with the phone system.

Yeah, that could make the O’Keefe-as-Watergate campaign look as credible as the Asher Doctrine.

The exciting news is that O’Keefe was able to email the video off of the phone before the confiscation and subsequent deletion from the hardware. Our team of over-caffeinated lab forensics propeller-heads, working at an undisclosed location, have confirmed the following Big Scoop:
In the background of the video is a hardly recognizable Bill Clinton, with a rather interesting bit transcribed here:

Bill: I was able to shake Hillary’s goons for about 5 minutes. Prostate problems suck, but make for believable getaways sometimes.
[…]
Bill: OK, I’ll make this fast. Top Ramen, if you know who I mean, heh, wants to figure out if you’re interested in, now, listen carefully, a Senior Executive Council National Advisory Volunteer position. Repeat that back to me and write it down for further research. I want to make sure you got it. Heh. Yeah. Don’t worry about salary. Seriously. We went to a lot of trouble to recruit Snarlin’ Arlen for our team. So it would be quite a stain on the dress if you were to, you know, sink his battleship in the primary. Hahahaha.
[…]
Bill: Look, I’m no fan of Specter, either. But you gotta realize, he’s an old hand and a certified Bad Mike Foxtrot, as you military guys say. When I was President, I told Arlen to lay by his dish, but I’d be lying if I didn’t tell you I kept an eye on him.
[…]
Bill: I gotta go. There’s this goofy kid with a big nose causing a ruckus. You take care, Joe. You always were Hillary’s and my favorite Admiral.

We’ll post the whole thing just as soon as it’s released by O’Keefe’s email recipient. . .Will Folks. Oh, balls: never mind.

In Canada, It’s Called ‘Research’

At least that’s what the defense lawyer called it. The prosecution called it child pornography:

The former director of B’nai Brith Quebec, Bill Surkis, has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges after agreeing to a plea bargain. . . .
In return for a guilty plea to charges of possessing and accessing child pornography, the Crown dropped a charge of distributing child pornography . . .
Explicit files were discovered on Surkis’ computer when he brought it in for repairs in 2008.
The technician contacted police after 86 videos and 153 photos were found, including images of girls aged six to 12 years.
Surkis’s lawyer had previously said he would argue the videos were downloaded as part of research Surkis was undertaking.
“The purpose of his viewing the child pornography material [was] to educate himself on the topic of child pornography,” lawyer Steven Slimovitch told CBC News outside court in November 2009. . . .
Surkis now faces a minimum sentence of three months behind bars.

Three months? What do you have to do in Canada to get a whole year in jail, rape the Pope?

But let’s not give Andrew Sullivan any ideas.

Essential PJTV Viewing On
The Atrocious Cordoba Mosque
Plus: Fred Thompson

by Smitty

Watch this 17 minute clip.

On this Memorial Day weekend, as we contemplate the risks and sacrifices undertake by Americans from the Founding Fathers through today, it’s easy to treat all of that heroic military stuff in a purely historical mode.
Keep in mind though: this history of this country is a vast book of unknown page count. At one year per page from the Declaration of Independence onward, we’re at page 234 now.
The book itself stands threatened by various destructive ideological, economic and, yes, religious forces.
So, look to and honor the past. However, if you don’t come away energized to stand

  • Firmly,
  • Resolutely,
  • Peacefully if possible,
  • Prepared if not

to carry forward the tradition of American individualism and exceptionalism, then I submit you need to go back to your history and refresh yourself. Purge and disabuse yourself of all of the post-modern, guilt-ridden, morally relativistic dreck infusing that spineless species of human known as the modern liberal.

This mosque at Ground Zero must be opposed, and Memorial Day is a fine time to recall why. If there is a genunine interest in healing an rapport, then these Muslim scholars need to understand that this project is a pillar of salt driven into a raw wound. The answer is ‘NO’, and it is impossible for any amount of noble intention to alter this answer. In fact, continuing to raise the question merely inflames the unhealed flesh.  Go away, scholars.

For a palate cleanser, a dose of The Fred:
