SCANDAL! Teen Girl Sexually Exploited by U.S. Troops Halliburton Starbucks Supervisor

OK, I headlined this but it deserves its own post: ABC News assigned investigative reporter Brian Ross to get the story of 16-year-old Starbucks barista Katie Moore and the 24-year-old manager who “essentially made her his sex toy”:

“I felt like I didn’t have a choice,” Moore, now 20, told ABC News.”I was ashamed and embarrassed. And I felt like he had complete control over my job . . . he knew all this stuff about my family and my friends and my school.”
She says the supervisor would summon her for sex in hundreds of text messages, including one that said, “I’d liked to f— tomorrow.”
“It was an everyday, numerous times a day occurrence,” Moore said. “And I just saw it and did what I had to do.”
She says other Starbucks supervisors and managers knew what was happening but did nothing to stop the illicit relationship.

This is the kind of sex-panic story that proves Hunter S. Thompson’s observation: “Nothing catches an editor’s eye like a good rape.” You don’t need Brian Ross to report this story, you need Joe Francis: Girls Gone Wild: Steaming Double Latte Edition.

Click here to watch the ABC News video, which contains these alarming tidbits:

“One in three teens reported sexual advances from adult supervisors in a recent study. . . . The problem is especially prevalent in fast-food places . . . And it’s not just Starbucks . . . In Memphis, at this Taco Bell restaurant, the manager pleaded guilty to raping two of his 16-year-old workers. One of them became pregnant.”

Teens! Sex! Rape! Pregnancy! Fully one-third of teenage girls are getting groped, shagged or sodomized by sleazy fast-food supervisors. It’s a prevalent problem, you see, a veritable crisis deserving of its own Lifetime network Movie of the Week.

Which raises the urgent question: Why didn’t ABC save this story for Nielsen sweeps month in February?

URGENT NEWS ALERT: VodkaPundit Will Drunkblog SOTU Tonight

Well, that’s not exactly news, really, since he’s been doing it for years and never blogs completely sober:

I realized I’d been watching these damn things since 1980. And that the time for games was over. And that the only way I was going to get through another one, sanity intact, was to start drinking early and keep drinking often.

During the Democratic National Convention last year, I actually had the opportunity to watch the master at work and was amazed by how much booze he can put away. It’s like he’s got a genetically altered mutant super-liver or something.

UPDATE: VodkaPundit has chosen Grey Goose vodka for this evening’s performance. He’s going to need it, based on the advance text:

We face more than a deficit of dollars right now. We face a deficit of trust.

Good God. Is this a presidential address or a Hallmark greeting card?

OTHER SOTU LIVEBLOGS:

9:10 P.M. — “Thank you! Thank you very much!” He’s starting. I’m told the prepared text is more than 7,000 words. I’m guessing it won’t end before 9:30 p.m.

PREVIOUSLY: Michelle Malkin reports Joe Wilson will be the first member of Congress to answer a State of the Union address with a live video post from his Facebook page., which inspires Conservative Lesbian Cynthia Yockey:

How freakin’ AWESOME would it be if each and every one of them were on his or her Twitter or Facebook account liveblogging their reactions? OMG! . . .
I’m planning to live blog the SOTU tonight at Newsreal.

Speaking of lesbians — but entirely unrelated to the State of the Union — how about this bizarre news?

Days after D.C. Superior Court Magistrate Judge Janet Albert broke up with her girlfriend, the judge found her former companion unconscious in her attic, above her bedroom, with some food and an ice bucket fashioned into a makeshift toilet, authorities say.
Investigators said Taylar Nuevelle had climbed into the attic through a door in Albert’s bedroom closet and had been there for almost 24 hours, listening to Albert’s telephone pleas to friends for help.
Now, Nuevelle is on trial on charges of burglary, unlawful entry and stalking. Prosecutors allege that she began stalking Albert and harassing with her with hundreds of phone calls, threatening e-mails and text messages after the two ended their year-long relationship in 2008. She faces up to 15 years in prison if convicted.

Lesbian domestic violence. I’m waiting to see how feminists manage to blame this one on the oppressive patriarchy.

UPDATE II: Jonn Edwards’ sham marriage ends in “separation,” probably because actually divorcing a wealthy trial lawyer is a risky proposition.

The thing about Edwards is, he’s so bogus it’s hard to tell where the merely phony ends and the completely laughable bullshit begins. Anybody who believes a word John Edwards says is as stupid as Amanda Marcotte, who is world-class stupid.

‘This Makes Me Want to Build an Ark’

So says Political Junkie Mom, in reaction to this disturbing news from Pamela Geller:

A new documentary, Oral Sex Is the New Goodnight Kiss, chronicles America’s moral decay. Sharlene Azam, a Canadian filmmaker, says, “If you talk to teens [about oral sex], they’ll tell you it’s not a big deal. In fact, they don’t consider it sex. They don’t consider a lot of things sex.” In the documentary, teenage girls talk casually about their sexual experiences and even their forays into prostitution.
One girl sums up the new attitudes: “Five minutes and I got $100. If I’m going to sleep with them anyway because they’re good-looking, might as well get paid for it, right?”

Presumably the price is higher for ugly dudes, but when there’s so much available for free, you’ve got to figure a guy who’s paying $100 isn’t a GQ model, eh?

This is “Reason to Homeschool #9999” for Political Junkie Mom, who needs to enhance her blogroll, IYKWIMAITYD.

UPDATE: Any economist would see the market mismatch here:

The 23-year-old Nigerian charged with trying to detonate a bomb on a Northwest Airlines flight over Detroit on Christmas Day was lonely and sexually repressed, according to messages left on an Islamic website. . . .
But, like the September 11 bombers, who visited strip clubs before their date with destiny, when his devout religious beliefs conflicted with his corporeal desires, he found that blowing himself up along with a whole lot of infidels was preferable to being sexually frustrated.
As the New York Post put it: “The bomb wasn’t the only thing burning in his pants.” . . .
Perhaps the best psychological explanation comes from United in Hate: The Left’s Romance with Tyranny and Terror, the recent book by Jamie Glazov, the managing editor of FrontPage Magazine. . . .
He claims there is an “Islamist war on private love [which] derives most of its energy from a deep-seated misogyny. Women’s empowerment, independence and self-determination, especially the sexual variety, pose a threat to Islamism’s very existence.” . . .

The solution? The U.N. International Oral Sex Clearing House (UNIOSCH). It would work kind of like Al Gore’s carbon-credits scheme, to match men from nations that were suffering an oral sex deficit with women from countries that have an oral sex surplus. So the kind of chick who is currently selling oral sex for $100 in Canada would be reassigned by UNIOSCH to Nigeria or Pakistan or Yemen where her services would help relieve the jihadi rage.

It’s a classic win-win, because it would not only reduce Islamfascist terrorism but also improve morality in the West. Just imagine the mother-daughter conversations:

“Hey, Mom, can I go hang out the mall?”

“OK, but behave yourself. You don’t want to end up like your sister Jennifer.”

“Right. Have you heard from Jennifer lately?”

“Yeah, the UNIOSCH is sending her to Cairo.”

“Why Cairo?”

“Well, she’s already done every guy in Islamabad twice, so . . .”

And who would be in charge of this important United Nations peace initiative? Bill Clinton.

UPDATE II: We just got the Ace-o-Lanche from the AOSHQ headlines, but I’m thinking Ye Olde Merry Band of Morons will demand a separate thread to discuss this story. Obviously, there are issues here that need to be discussed in a non-PG13 forum.

For example, isn’t $100 way above the going street-price for oral sex? Of course, most of that market supply involves skanky meth addicts, but in that kind of transaction, who cares? You’re paying for skill, right? And my guess is that an experienced meth-addicted streetwalker would have more skill than a mere teenager. So how is this teenage girl quoted in the story getting $100 from “good-looking” guys?

Ace really needs to have his own post about this.

‘Noticeably Monosyllabic’

So says AOL News editor Steve Pendlebury, sampling blog reaction to the arrest of James O’Keefe:

Michelle Malkin: Ugh
Hot Air’s Allahpundit: Ohhhh boy
Political Byline: D’oh!
The Other McCain: Ruh-Roh
Instapundit Glenn Reynolds: Hmm

Maybe he expected us to say, “Wiretapping is as American as apple pie” or “If Mary Landrieu doesn’t get wiretapped, the terrorists win.” But Pendlebury is fair-minded enough to note Andrew Breitbart’s reaction:

“Let me state clearly for the record: wiretapping is wrong. But until I hear the full story from James O’Keefe, I will not speculate as to what he was doing in Louisiana,” Breitbart said.

Which is exactly right. As bad as this looks, based on the FBI affidavit and the available news reports, we don’t know if this was a “Louisiana Watergate” or some kind of made-for-video stunt or what. Remember when the headlines were about “anti-government sentiment” causing the lynching of a Census worker — later determined to be a suicide? We’ll wait to see what happens, and leave the crystal-ball stuff to the MSM psychics.

UPDATE: “Heh.” Meanwhile, Ace of Spades and Allahpundit go polysyllabic in seeking to understand what James O’Keefe was doing.

Chris Cassone’s Tea Party Anthem Ripped Off by the New Yorker

Can you say “copyright infringement,” boys and girls?

A gray-haired man in a blue velvet jacket and sneakers started inching toward the center of the room with an acoustic guitar. He had a “Reagan for President” button on his shoulder strap and a “Hoffman for Congress” sticker on his case.
[T]hey invited the guitarist to play, and before long Hank from Gravesend and Julie from Chelsea and Kellen from Morningside Heights were singing along to the chorus of a folk anthem in that great American tradition:
Take it back,
Take our country back.
Our way of life is now under attack.
Draw a line in the sand, so they all understand
And our values stay intact.
Take it back
.

The editors of the New Yorker can be excused for not knowing that the “gray-haired man” is Chris Cassone, a professional singer-songwriter and recording engineer — he used to jam with Ace Frehley of Kiss back in the day — whose song “Take Our Country Back” is (a) available on CD, (b) copyrighted, and (c) soon to be featured in a book that Chris is writing about the Tea Party movement. And guess what? Chris Cassone has a blog:

The New Yorker refused to give me credit for the chorus of my song which they reproduced without a copyright notice.  And their authors rant about the big bad monolithic Republican-Wall Street cabal, yet it is THEY who are steamrolling over my rights.

The editors of the New Yorker didn’t know all that when they published Ben McGrath’s story — without any credit whatsoever to Chris Cassone — but I think they’ll recognize their error when they get a letter from Chris Cassone’s lawyers. Here’s the original video for the song:

P.S.: Chris Cassone parties with cool bloggers.

Aretha Franklin Understands

Matthew Archbold makes his wife feel like a natural woman, which shocks a woman who’s all into “natural” living:

“What?!” gasped the woman. “Really? You really have five kids?” . . .
It is rather an oddity that with all this focus on natural foods that many women still don’t consider birth control in the same manner.

Heh. Mrs. Other McCain and I have six kids. Sing it, Aretha.

UPDATE: New commenter Sherry Antonetti has nine kids, a blog and a sense of humor. Also, a very grateful husband, I’m sure.

UPDATE II: Holy smokes! Talk about a small world. Remember Amanda Read? She’s a student at my politically incorrect alma mater. And Amanda’s mom is a blogger who also has nine kids!

Breeders, taking over the blogosphere.

We’re Andrew Sullivan’s worst nightmare.

The Battle of P.S. 234

Julia Vitullo-Martin in the New York Post:

Tribeca is embroiled in a bitter neighborhood-school war that some residents say is jeopardizing its sense of community, as well as its future. It’s a story repeated from time to time all across New York. The key question will be decided tonight: Which families will be forced out of the beloved PS 234?
The school is widely deemed the city’s best public elementary school, in part thanks to fervent community support. But over the last decade, the neighborhood has transformed itself from a commercial to a mixed-use area, with thousands of new residents, including young families — and PS 234 is bursting at the seams . . .
Across the street from PS 234 is the 35-story 101 Warren (sometimes called the Whole Foods complex), which opened in 2006. Designed by Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, its 228 condo units have sold for between $1.175 million and $12 million. In the same complex as PS 234 is the 30-story, 258-condo 200 Chambers St. Both developments were marketed as “zoned for 234” — a status now much in dispute. . . .

OK, I don’t normally cover New York City school-board issues and some readers might be scratching their heads, but there’s an explanation.

People sometimes ask me why I smoke Parliament Lights — kind of an effete brand for a populist Old School guy — and the answer is Continue reading The Battle of P.S. 234 →

Maureen Dowd Is So Original!

Scott Brown: Taking Sexy Back
— The Other McCain, Jan. 13

Bringing Sexy Back
— Maureen Dowd, Jan. 26

OK, so we’re both cribbing from the same pool of pop-culture phrases. She does get in one good line:

The only question left is: Why isn’t Scott Brown delivering the State of the Union?

Maureen Dowd covers politics the way Us Weekly covers Hollywood: It’s all about celebrities, who’s up, who’s down, who’s in, who’s out. She’s not going to travel around central Massachusetts interviewing the lady at Mighty Subs or the parishioners at St. Anthony’s. She’s only interested in the superstars.

Thank God for Scott Brown, eh? This gives MoDo an excuse to do something other than sling snark at Sarah Palin.

UPDATE: Jennifer Rubin takes MoDo a bit more seriously, perhaps more seriously than she deserves to be taken. As a journalist, what kills me is that Dowd gets paid to write op-ed columns for the New York Times — which last month laid off 26 actual journalists — and turns in such utter crap.

Some of the reporters who got laid off could probably write better stuff. But they’re not Maureen Dowd, celebrity journalist. They never dated Michael Douglas. Or their editors.

MoDo is a luxury item, a gaudy and overpriced ornament, in an age when the news business is heading rapidly toward a low-budget WalMart operating model. I’d say Sulzberger should fire Dowd, but I’m hoping the ax falls on David Brooks first.
