MELTDOWN: Democrats Panic After Biden Has the ‘Single Worst Debate Performance in American History’

My pre-debate prediction was that CNN had this “debate” pre-arranged to be a Biden victory, but if so, it certainly didn’t work as planned. Not only is CNN itself now admitting that Biden crashed like the Hindenburg at Lakehurst, but there is a universal consensus among Democrats and all their media mouthpieces that (a) Biden cannot win in November and (b) he therefore must be replaced as the party’s nominee.

That headline is from New York magazine, whose Matthew Steib said as soon as the debate was over, “There’s lot of panic in the Democratic party that did not exist a few hours ago. . . . Speculation is rampant about swapping out Biden at the top of the ticket.” Until about 10 p.m. ET Thursday, anyone talking like that was dismissed as a “conspiracy theorist,” but now everybody is saying the same thing.

Performance Was a Disaster.

That’s the headline from the New Republic‘s Alex Shephard:

Thursday’s debate should have been a tap-in. All Biden had to do was appear mildly competent. All he had to do was let Donald Trump be Donald Trump. Then the rest would take care of itself.
It’s hard to see how the bar could have been set any lower. And yet Biden not only failed to meet it, he delivered what may very well be the single worst debate performance in American history. Again and again, with no prompting, he made his opponent’s case for him. He was often incoherent, frequently appeared to forget the question he was responding to . . . This was a disaster, from start to finish. It is impossible to see how Joe Biden can continue as the Democratic nominee for president.

That’s emphatic, and the same basic message was echoing universally across the media landscape as soon as Thursday’s debate ended.

That’s the headline from Politico:

All Joe Biden needed to do was deliver a repeat performance of his State of the Union address.
Instead, he stammered. He stumbled. And, with fewer than five months to November, he played straight into Democrats’ worst fears — that he’s fumbling away this election to Donald Trump.
The alarm bells for Democrats started ringing the second Biden started speaking in a haltingly hoarse voice. Minutes into the debate, he struggled to mount an effective defense of the economy on his watch and flubbed the description of key health initiatives he’s made central to his reelection bid, saying “we finally beat Medicare” and incorrectly stating how much his administration lowered the price of insulin. He talked himself into a corner on Afghanistan, bringing up his administration’s botched withdrawal unprompted. He repeatedly mixed up “billion” and “million,” and found himself stuck for long stretches of the 90-minute debate playing defense.
And when he wasn’t speaking, he stood frozen behind his podium, mouth agape, his eyes wide and unblinking for long stretches of time.

That was something a lot of people mentioned: Didn’t Biden realize he was on a split screen when Trump was talking? Never mind what either candidate said during the debate, the simple visual contrast between the two candidates on split-screen was disastrous for Biden.

From another Politico article Thursday night:

Democrats are so panicked over President Joe Biden’s faltering debate performance some are actively discussing what was once unspeakable: replacing him on the ticket. . . .
One major Democratic donor and Biden supporter said it was time for the president to end his campaign. This person described Biden’s night as “the worst performance in history” and said Biden was so “bad that no one will pay attention to Trump’s lies.”
“Biden needs to drop out. No question about it,” the donor said in a text message, proposing an alternate ticket led by the governors of Maryland and Michigan. . . .
One adviser to major Democratic Party donors said they were texting from a meeting of donors in Atlanta on Thursday night, some writing “wtf.”
“Our only hope is that he bows out, we have a brokered convention, or dies,” the donor adviser said. “Otherwise we are f–king dead.” . . .
“No one expected a master class in debating from Joe Biden, but no one expected this nose dive,” said a senior adviser to top Democratic officials. “He was bad on message, bad on substance, bad on counter punching, bad on presentation, bad on non-verbals. There was no bright spot in this debate for him. The only bright spot is that this happened in June and not October.”

How bad was it? On MSNBC, former Missouri Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill was practically in tears saying how bad it was:

“Joe Biden had one thing he had to do tonight and he didn’t do it. He had one thing he had to accomplish, and that was reassure America that he was up to the job at his age, and he failed at that tonight. . . . I’m not the only one whose heart is breaking right now. There’s a lot of people who watched this tonight and felt terribly for Joe Biden. And you know, you have to ask, how did we get here?”

Yes, how did we get here? With the surprising midnight discovery of “extra” mail-in ballots on Election Night 2020? How did we get here, with 51 intelligence operatives signing a letter swearing that Hunter Biden’s laptop was “Russian disinformation”? How did we get here, with a “cabal” of operatives bragging about how they “fortified” Biden’s alleged victory in 2020? You see, Ms. McCaskill, some of us know damned well how we got here, and we know who is responsible for this. Unlike you, however, we don’t “feel terribly for Joe Biden,” as this was the logical conclusion of his long and dishonest career in politics. His first presidential campaign collapsed because Biden was caught plagiarizing his speeches. In early 2020 — don’t you remember? — Biden was on the verge of losing the Democratic nomination to Bernie Sanders until James Carville swooped in, got James Clyburn to endorse Biden, then locked down the black vote to win the South Carolina primary. We watched it happen, and we have not forgotten how we got here, with Biden now seemingly doomed to leave office — next January, if not sooner — as the Worst President in American History. He’s earned it. Selah.

Prediction: Worst ‘Debate,’ Ever

Every day, I watch CNN (so you don’t have to) and for the past several days, they’ve been hyping up tonight’s so-called “debate” between Joe Biden and Donald Trump as the Most Important Debate in World History. Like everything else on CNN, this is a lie.

There will be no actual debate tonight. That is to say, the way the rules are set up, there will be no back-and-forth between the candidates. In collusion with Team Biden, CNN decided that, to prevent interruptions, the microphones of the candidates will be shut off when it’s not their turn to speak. So when Biden predictably starts spewing arrant nonsense, Trump will not be able to say, “Wait a minute, that’s not true.” Or, if he does say that, you won’t be able to hear him say it.

Obviously, both “moderators” for the debate — CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash — are notoriously dishonest partisan Democrats and, my brother Kirby has predicted, CNN supplied Team Biden with copies of the “debate” questions in advance (cf., Donna Brazille in 2016). So if the CNN operatives appear to throw a “hardball” question at Biden, and he handles it so well that you might think, “Wow, that was pretty quick thinking,” do not be deceived. Biden has spent the past seven days practicing answering these questions — his team had them word-for-word, a week in advance — and no one should be surprised that he’s got his answers thoroughly prepared. It’s all a set-up, the result is pre-ordained. When the debate is over, everyone will proclaim Biden the winner, and they’ll have the 30-second sound-bite clips to prove it.

Trump supporters watching the debate tonight will be seething with anger the entire 90 minutes at the gross unfairness of it all, and guess what? There’s nothing you can do about it. Team Trump agreed to this debate six weeks ago, and if they expected CNN to do anything other than what they predictably will do — i.e., orchestrate the “debate” to be a free Biden campaign commercial — they were incredibly naïve.

Is it possible that I’m wrong about all this? Is it possible that this “debate” will be anything like a fair colloquy between the two candidates, so that Trump could win and Biden could somehow lose? Feel free to get back to me after the debate and tell me if I was wrong, but I expect to be completely vindicated. Jake Tapper and Dana Bash get paid to lie on behalf of Democrats, and I’m sure they’ll earn their pay tonight.

The Amchitka Strategic Bureaucracy Reserve

It is widely known that you can get a lot accomplished if you don’t care who gets the credit. I therefore offer this proposal to the Trump campaign free of charge.*

One of the problems with uprooting the Deep State and the associated federal bureaucracy is that many of the people we want to drive into the wilderness are protected by being in the Civil Service, which makes them practically impossible to fire. A possible solution to this (short of electing a conservative – note I didn’t say Republican – Congress that will repeal the Civil Service Act of 1978) is to make serving in the bureaucracy as unpleasant as possible. There have been some proposals to disperse Federal agencies among the several states so as to put them “closer to the people they serve” and incidentally weaken the Washington DC area both economically and politically. Those proposals don’t go far enough. I propose that since we clearly have an excess of enemies of the state drawing paychecks from the Treasury, we should put them in places where no reasonable person would want to live and work, while making their lives as difficult as possible once they’re there. Such as, for example, the Aleutian island of Amchitka, most noted for being the site of a 1971 nuclear test that environmental wackos promised us would destroy Anchorage, Juneau, and Vancouver with an enormous man-made tsunami. (Spoiler: It didn’t.) A cursory review of the island will reveal that it has several features that make it ideal for our purposes: the weather is usually foul, it is distant from any other human habitations, there is no infrastructure on the island of any kind, and it is prone to earthquakes. in addition, Amchitka is still being monitored for the release of radioactive materials from the 1971 test, which ought to put the fear of SCIENCE!! into our victimsstockpiled bureaucrats. The rest of the Rat Islands would also be suitable for our purposes; Shemya, on the other hand, while possessing many of the traits that make Amchitka suitable for the SBR, actually has people living on it as well as a vital national defense installation, and we don’t want our stockpiled bureaucrats bothering any of those people.

How do we determine who gets shipped off to the SBR? During each of the government shutdowns caused by budgetary brinksmanship, lists are made of who the essential and nonessential employees are in each agency. The nonessential employees will be given a week to decide whether they want to quit, retire, or move to the Strategic Bureaucracy Reserve to continue their work. If they choose the SBR, they will be shipped to Amchitka with a tent, a sleeping bag, and fifty pounds of personal effects. They will not be allowed to take their families with them. Once relocated to the SBR, they will find office space in General Purpose Large tents erected by the Army, and conduct all their business in writing; the government will not provide any kind of computers or telephones to the SBR, much less any internet connections. Food, sanitation, and medical support will be provided by National Guard and Army Reserve units doing their 15-day annual training stint supplemented by prisoners from various military stockades and Americorps “volunteers” working off their student loans. A weekly mail boat will suffice to provide postal support and transportation off the island for bureaucrats who decide they’ve had enough of this treatment.

It’s possible that the number of bureaucrats sent to the SBR may exceed the space available on the Rat Islands. In this case, we may have to use less attractive (sic) options such as Johnston Atoll, which while it lacks the generally foul weather and earthquakes of the Rat Islands, does have a history of chemical weapons deactivation and nuclear weapons contamination, not to mention the occasional powerful hurricane, and is suitably distant from any human habitation.

It’s my fond hope that the creation of the SBR will result in the rapid drawdown of the Civil Service, and a consequent re-evaluation by Congress as to whether we need some of the etiolated agencies weakened by the creation of the SBR. It’s my small contribution toward Making America Great Again. 

*Although I wouldn’t mind an appointment as a warrant officer with the four-year assignment of telling people they’re moving to Amchitka in a week.

Rigged Jury in Show Trial Delivers Guilty Verdict Demanded by Corrupt Judge

Was there ever any doubt about this predetermined outcome? The way that Judge Juan Merchan instructed the jury made anything but a guilty verdict impossible, if there was ever any doubt to begin with (which there wasn’t). As I explained 10 days ago:

The evidence and testimony don’t matter, because the outcome was predetermined before the “trial” ever started. This is a political operation organized by the Democratic Party to punish Trump and, if possible, to prevent him from being elected president again.
Understand that 86% of voters in Manhattan voted for Joe Biden in 2020. There are no honest people on that jury. They know full well why they are there, and what is expected of them. This “trial” has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with revenge — Trump beat Hillary in 2016, and Democrats cannot forgive him for that.

“Mother Teresa could not beat these charges . . . The whole thing is rigged,” Trump said. No honest person could disagree.

UPDATE 6 p.m. ET: On the phone with Aaron Walker just now, I said the problem with writing about this trial is that the English language doesn’t have enough synonyms for bullshit.

UPDATE 7:53 p.m. ET: Americans aren’t stupid:

“This was done by the Biden administration in order to hurt an opponent, a political opponent, and I think it’s just a disgrace,” Trump said.
“This was a rigged decision right from day one, with a conflicted judge who should have never been allowed to try this case, never,” Trump said.
Increasing numbers of Americans see Trump’s criminal trial as irrelevant to his fitness for reelection, a CNN poll recently found, and only 13 percent believe Trump was being treated the same as other “criminal defendants.”
A majority of Americans doubted Trump’s criminal trial will conclude with a fair outcome, the CNN poll found. Only about one-third of American adults believed Trump did anything illegal regarding the case, an AP-NORC Center for Public Affairs Research poll found in April.

I’d Call This a Kangaroo Court, But That Would Be an Insult to Honest Kangaroos

Ed Morrisey points out that Alan Dershowitz has literally been practicing law since before Judge Juan Merchan was born. This lends greater gravity to what Dershowitz said on Hannity last night after spending Monday in Merchan’s courtroom for the Trump trial: “This judge has committed more reversible errors in the one day I was in the courtroom than I’ve seen in years and years of practicing law.”

Dershowitz added: “Any first-year evidence student would understand that [Merchan] was making biased rulings in favor of one side.” Let me remind you of what I said Monday morning before this latest outrage:

Understand that 86% of voters in Manhattan voted for Joe Biden in 2020. There are no honest people on that jury. They know full well why they are there, and what is expected of them. This “trial” has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with revenge — Trump beat Hillary in 2016, and Democrats cannot forgive him for that. . . .
This jury will vote to convict, no matter what.

The verdict will be guilty and, as Dershowitz suggests, this conviction will be thrown out on appeal, because of the judge’s blatant bias. But it will take many months, perhaps more than a year, for Trump’s appeal to work its way through the federal docket, and in the meantime, Judge Merchan and his co-conspirators on this all-Democrat jury will have delivered what their party wanted, i.e., the propaganda victory of being able to call Donald Trump a “convicted felon.” That is all this case was ever about — a political scheme for the benefit of the Democratic Party in general, and Joe Biden’s reelection campaign in particular.

All anyone can do to rectify this gross miscarriage of justice is (a) vote for Trump, (b) pray to God and (c) await our vengeance. Selah.

‘Get Trump’ Show Trial Continues

CNN takes this mockery of justice very seriously:

The biggest questions as Donald Trump’s first criminal trial resumes Monday are whether his attorneys have destroyed the credibility of star witness Michael Cohen — and how much of the damage prosecutors can fix.
The presumptive GOP presidential nominee is due back in court amid clear signs the hush money trial is drawing toward a close — unless he takes the risky decision to testify in his own defense, a step that would lengthen and complicate the proceedings.
Defense lawyers say they expect to complete their bruising cross-examination of Cohen, Trump’s former lawyer and enforcer, on Monday morning. Prosecutors will then use their second chance to question Cohen to try to patch up any doubts the ex-president’s team may have sown in the minds of jurors about his version of events.

Here’s some important news: It doesn’t matter.

The prosecution has not explained how anything alleged against Trump is actually a crime, and if Judge Merchan had any integrity (which he doesn’t), as soon as the prosecution rests, he would issue a directed verdict of acquittal, but he won’t do that, because this is not actually a trial. The evidence and testimony don’t matter, because the outcome was predetermined before the “trial” ever started. This is a political operation organized by the Democratic Party to punish Trump and, if possible, to prevent him from being elected president again.

Understand that 86% of voters in Manhattan voted for Joe Biden in 2020. There are no honest people on that jury. They know full well why they are there, and what is expected of them. This “trial” has nothing to do with justice, and everything to do with revenge — Trump beat Hillary in 2016, and Democrats cannot forgive him for that.

Do not be distracted by this chatter from the media about the “question” of whether Michael Cohen’s credibility has been damaged. It doesn’t matter. This jury will vote to convict, no matter what.

Six Weeks Until First Debate

The earliest presidential debate, ever:

CNN is President Joe Biden’s preferred network to host at least one presidential debate, he said Wednesday.
CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash will host, according to Puck News. . . .
The Biden campaign said the president would debate Trump only in June and September, without live audiences present.
“I’ve received and accepted an invitation from @CNN for a debate on June 27th,” Biden posted on X. “Over to you, Donald. As you said: anywhere, any time, any place.”
Trump accepted Biden’s invitation and urged the president to debate him earlier and more often.
“I’m ready to go…The dates that they proposed are fine…Let’s see if Joe can make it to the stand-up podium,” Trump reportedly told Fox News Digital. “The proposed June and early September dates are fully acceptable to me. I will provide my own transportation.”
Trump also said he would debate Biden in October on Fox News.

Of course, everybody sees this setup as favoring Biden, who is trailing Trump in most polls and therefore will welcome the chance to reset the perceptions in a friendly media forum, knowing that CNN is completely controlled by partisan Democrats. As someone who routinely watches CNN (so you don’t have to), I can attest that Jake Tapper and Dana Bash are about as objective as Karine Jean-Pierre. Everybody sees this debate arrangement as proof of how desperate the Biden campaign is:

President Joe Biden’s decision to take Donald Trump up on his “anytime and anywhere” debate offer and propose June and September debates is a clear sign of worry among his reelection campaign team.
Two months ago, Biden cracked the door open to not having any debates, which hadn’t happened in a presidential race since 1972. Asked by a reporter if he would “commit to a debate with former President Trump,” Biden responded, “It depends on his behavior.”
Nothing has changed about Trump’s behavior since then. What also hasn’t changed is who is leading the polls. . . .
Recent polling suggests Biden only has a narrow path to 270. He would need a bigger recovery in the more diverse Sun Belt swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Nevada, and North Carolina—where his deficit is generally around 5 or 6 points—to recreate the multiple paths he had four years ago when he narrowly defeated Trump in several critical battlegrounds.

So we’re going to have a debate in June — more than four months before Election Day — and what happens if that doesn’t resurrect Biden’s poll numbers? Frank Lautenberg could not be reached for comment.

A Made-for-TV Travesty: Can You Guess Who Takes Stormy Daniels Seriously?

One must be a connoisseur of media bias — or perhaps a glutton for punishment — to watch CNN, which I do (so you don’t have to). Do executives at the third-place cable news networks really think America craves wall-to-wall coverage of the sordid Stormy Daniels “hush money” trial inflicted upon Donald Trump by Soros-sponsored Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg? It boggles my mind that anyone could possibly take this trial seriously, and yet, day after day, there’s Jake Tapper acting as ringmaster of this absurd circus, acting as if a vast audience were tuned in, eager to get the latest details.

THERE IS NO ACTUAL CRIME INVOLVED IN THIS CASE!

Every intelligent American understands this and, I have to point out, Jake Tapper is not stupid. However, his job is to pretend that he doesn’t know what I’m sure he actually does know, i.e., that even if this Manhattan jury were to convict Trump, Bragg’s case is so bogus that it will certainly be thrown out on appeal. It’s not just me saying this, either. Guy Benson, who is perhaps slightly less anti-Trump than David French, calls it a “disgraceful, politically-motivated case”:

The legal theory, if you can call it that, behind Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s prosecution involves resuscitating lapsed, possible misdemeanors related to bookkeeping categorizations of (totally legal) ‘hush money’ payments. In order to bypass a pesky ‘expired statute of limitations’ problem, and to escalate the alleged offenses into dozens of felonies, Bragg says the bookkeeping scheme was undertaken in furtherance of an additional crime that he still has not revealed. The Biden donor judge in the case has somehow allowed this to move forward, which many legal experts (including longtime federal prosecutor Andy McCarthy) point to as a glaring basis for appeal. But the final outcome of such a process is beside the real point of this trial, which is to secure a conviction — even if temporarily — against Donald Trump before the November election.
Bragg’s predecessor in the DA’s office looked at these exact same facts and declined to pursue charges. The feds did the same. . . . The ‘crime’ doesn’t involve the alleged affair or the existence of the payment, neither of which violated the law.  It involves the way Trump and his lawyer listed the payment in documents. Nevertheless, the jury was treated to salacious specifics about sexual positions, etc. during Daniels’ testimony. . . .

Read the whole thing, because those brief excerpts just barely skim the surface of what’s wrong with this trial, namely everything.

The whole point of Bragg’s case — the raison d’être of this illegitimate prosecution — is to help reelect Joe Biden (which assumes, of course, that Biden actually was elected in 2020, but they’ll condemn you as a dangerous “extremist” if you raise questions about that). And this partisan campaign effort relies upon the willing cooperation of the media, to give it the semblance of being a serious legal matter (which, as previously explained, it’s not). Here’s the big clue: It is immaterial to the alleged criminality of the “hush money” payment whether Trump did or did not have sex with Stephanie Gregory Clifford, the used-up, broken-down, hotdog-down-a-hallway 304 known as “Stormy Daniels.”

Despite the irrelevance of this, the prosecution was allowed to put this lying whore on the witness stand to regale the jury with what she claims are the details of her alleged rendezvous with Donald Trump — which, I hasten to add, she claims happened in July 2006.

ARE YOU FREAKING KIDDING ME WITH THIS?

This “scandal” is about what allegedly happened 18 years ago, a full decade before Trump was elected president and, as I say, it is immaterial to Bragg’s case whether or not sex happened between Trump and this worn-out floozy. Bragg’s “case” (which is not really a case at all) is about the falsification of records related to the payments made to keep the story out of the media in 2016. Bragg’s far-fetched theory is that the payments to Miss Echo Canyon should have been counted as an expense by the Trump campaign, thereby violating federal election regulations. (Of course, it’s not the job of the Manhattan DA’s office to enforce federal election law but, even if it were, nearly all such violations are dealt with by having the offending campaign pay a monetary fine.) Everybody with two eyes and a brain can see that what Bragg is doing is simply about smearing Trump by rehashing this bogus “scandal” which no intelligent person ever cared about to begin with. And yet, despite the laughable fraudulence of this trial, the Serious People in charge of CNN are engaged in an all-hands-on-deck effort to convince their retarded audience that what’s happening in the Manhattan courtroom is Very Important.

Get back to me on Wednesday, November 6, and tell me how effective this Democratic strategy was. My hunch is, it’s going to be a failure. Maybe not as much of a failure as CNN’s ratings, but pretty close.
