Wasted Away Again In My ObamaVille

by Smitty (via Insty)

Sorry, Jimmy:

Nibblin’ on coffee cake
Watchin’ some bum take
All of the handouts
From some others’ toil
Strummin’ my six phones
Amidst all the chicken bones
Smell those socks? They’re beginnin’ ta boil

Wasted away again in my ObamaVille
Chanting mic check near the Chase vault,
Some people claim
That Obama’s to blame,
But I know
It’s George Bush’s fault

Don’t know the reason
My toes are a-freezin’
With nuthin’ to show
For the whole protest zoo.
But Barack is a beauty
A Che-lovin’ cutie.
How he got there we haven’t a clue.

Wasted away again in my ObamaVille
Where the cops just told us to halt
Some people claim
That there’s a rich man to blame
But I know
It’s my own damn fault.

I lit up my hashpipe,
And wrote down some more gripes,
To share with the media who think we are great.
We scream for demands met,
That we don’t know what yet,
We just down twinkle fingers all grown up debate.

Wasted away again in My ObamaVille.
Searching for one more reason to march.
Some people claim
My college major’s to blame,
But I know
That it can’t be my fault.

‘O’ did another flip flop,
And won’t make the seas stop.
Rising to cover my beachside commune.
But it’s not a deal ender,
I’ll just go on a bender,
It’s not as if I can’t just sleep in ’till noon.

Wasted away again in my ObamaVille.
Searching for my
Lost drum buddy Earl.
Some people claim
The evil 1%’s to blame.
But if I take
Another kool-aid hit, I’ma hurl.

I can’t hog the whole ball here. Write another verse and let me link you.

Update: Props to RocksEm, whose chorus I put inline, and K_Bob for the second verse, and Toombs for a different chorus. Why not?

Update II: Linked at The Lonely Conservative.

Update III: The song is complete! Thanks to Christy and RandyW for joining the fray.

Update IV: McGehee chimes in, and I threw on a chorus about drums, and this is linked at The Daley Gator.

Update V: Picked up by Fishersville Mike.

Cain Leads New Ohio Poll; Close to Romney in Nevada; Perry Fading Away

The big headline today is the Ohio poll by Quinnipiac:

Former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain has jumped to the front of the line among GOP presidential contenders with 28 percent support among Ohio Republicans. Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney is second with 23 percent, while Texas Gov. Rick Perry is almost at the bottom of the pile with 4 percent.

The poll was conducted Oct. 17-23 — partly before the Oct. 18 Vegas debate, partly after — and the complete numbers are:

Herman Cain ……………….. 28%
Mitt Romney ……………….. 23%
Ron Paul ……………………… 8%
Newt Gingrich ……………… 7%
Rick Perry …………………… 4%
Michele Bachmann ………. 4%
Jon Huntsman …………….. 2%
Rick Santorum …………….. 1%

Of course, that’s kind of irrelevant, because Ohio won’t have its primary until June, but there’s also a new Nevada poll by Public Policy Polling:

Mitt Romney ……………….. 29%
Herman Cain ……………….. 28%
Newt Gingrich ……………… 15%
Ron Paul ……………………… 7%
Rick Perry …………………… 6%
Michele Bachmann ………. 3%
Jon Huntsman …………….. 2%
Rick Santorum …………….. 2%

There’s just no escaping the point: Perry has become a second-tier candidate. Although his RCP national average is still 11.9%, Perry has been in single digits in two recent national polls — Rasmussen and CBS/NYT — and the latter was taken entirely after the Vegas debate. Which is why you’re starting to see headlines like this:

Can Rick Perry save his campaign?
— CBS News

You can do a lot with $15 million, I suppose. Like this Iowa ad:

Maybe he should try puffing a cigarette in his ads.

Lovely Contradictions

by Smitty

Via Memeorandum, we have this report in the New York Times:

With Election Day just over a year away, a deep sense of economic anxiety and doubt about the future hangs over the nation, according to the latest New York Times/CBS News poll, with Americans’ distrust of government at its highest level ever.
The combustible climate helps explain the volatility of the presidential race and has provided an opening for protest movements like Occupy Wall Street, to highlight grievances about banks, income inequality and a sense that the poor and middle class have been disenfranchised. Almost half of the public thinks the sentiment at the root of the Occupy movement generally reflects the views of most Americans.

What is this, a bad country-western song? “The Government’s Like My Husband, Who Punches Me Like His Cattle, But I Love Him, And Besides, Who’s Gonna Keep Me In Grits?”, by Polly-Esther and the Plaid Bandanas.  Either you believe the government is Rousseauian in nature, and the fount of all blessings, or you do not.

Doublethink has been a club with which the American public has been beaten for decades. Hence, President Wall Street can sympathize with the #OccupyWallStreet protesters in their ObamaVille, while taking contributions from Wall Street.

Is Doublethink sustainable, though? All of these Orwellian and Alinskyite ideas predate the internet. It is my contention that those ideas are predicated on a much firmer control of information than is possible today. They’ll die hard, but they’re going down. A brighter future awaits us.

Remember: Only Government Can Save You From Having To Be … Self-reliant?

Somewhat related, via IowaHawk, is this punk who is either

  • packing more heat than Chuck Norris,
  • clueless as to the meaning of his well-enunciated words,
  • strung out on something very, very good which does not affect his speech capacity,
  • all of the above

I commend to the punk in the video the study of Sun Tzu. That is not the sort of thing said idly. If he bethinks himself that bad, he should just go take on the Oakland PD. Notwithstanding that, while I wouldn’t necessarily approve of any cat/mouse play on the part of the Oakland PD, I would understand the motivation.

Update: via MelissaTweets, we have The Right Scoop posts some Glenn Beck radio reaction. Pokesomi has some other lovely clips that they get into around 5:00.

Romney Secures McCain Endorsement

by Smitty

That’s right, Stacy’s cousin Meghan endorsed Bruce CampbellMitt Romney, as reported by the Lonely Conservative. Maggy also, apparently, chilled out in Zuccotti Park with the #OWS crowd. Ah, the Progressive pride parade.

Just don’t call her Green, m’kay? She’ll think that means you’re calling her an airhead, or something.

Update: linked by Nice Deb.

Update II: via Protein Wisdom, Maggie on Don Imus, comparing talking to him to getting lectured at by her father is just a trifle weird. Some of her commentary is actually interesting, but not enough to coax me into reading her regularly. The whole short life thing.

More #OWS Fun: Man Charged With Getting 11-Year-Old Boy Drunk in Tent

What a wholesome bunch:

A 27-year-old Missoula man at the Occupy Missoula encampment on the Missoula County Courthouse lawn is accused of getting an 11-year-old boy drunk. . . .
Authorities found the boy unconscious in Skinner’s tent.

First the 14-year-old girl assaulted in Dallas, and now this. Joe Biden warned us this would happen if Congress didn’t pass the jobs bill.

Cain Debuts Radio Ad, Picks Florida Team

Sunshine State Sarah picked up this news from the St. Petersburg Times:

Look for an announcement soon about some top-tier political talent joining Herman Cain’s Florida campaign team.
Statewide chairs: Former St. Petersburg Mayor (and Mitt Romney supporter) Rick Baker; former State Sen. (and expected Rick Perry supporter) Carey Baker; former Jeb Bush chief Kathleen Shanahan; state Rep. Scott Plakon, R-Longwood.
Tampa-based media consultant Adam Goodman is a senior strategist and media adviser and Arlene DiBenigno, a veteran of Jeb Bush, Charlie Crist, and Rick Scott campaigns, is another senior strategist.
Deborah Cox-Roush, former state GOP vice chairwoman and current Hillsborough County Republican chairwoman, is director of county chairs.

Sarah also has this audio of Cain’s new radio ad:
