Send the Body to Keith Olbermann

So says Professor Glenn Reynolds, in not quite so many words. The Christian Science Monitor cites certain predictable sources to gin up speculation that the Pentagon shooter was motivated by “right-wing extremism,” but . . . eh, not so much:

Internet research shows that the guy was a 9/11 Truther and an anti-Bush nut case.

So much for the SPLC-hyped Libertarian Militia Menace, I suppose. But what about the Lower Glennbeckistan Tea Party Lynch Mob? Again, not so much:

“Teabaggers” aren’t typically associated with antipathy to the military, but don’t underestimate the conclusion-drawing power of Frank Rich when he’s crashing on deadline.

Frank Rich and Frank Schaeffer: Frankly Kooky!

UPDATE: Gabriel Malor at AOSHQ shares a disdain for “the practice of associating killers and crazy people with either the Left or the Right”  — a disdain being expressed by several others on the ‘sphere, too. (Even one of Sully’s henchpeople gets in on that action today. If Sully himself had been on blog duty, he no doubt would have blamed Sarah Palin’s uterus.)

The problem with giving the Left a free pass on this kind of stuff is that the Left is so relentless in blaming the the Right for all the world’s evils, both specific and general.

Less than eight hours after Gabriel refused to point fingers for the Pentagon shooting, he was shocked to discover that the British Guardian had used a photo of a Klan rally to illustrate an article about the Tea Party movement. (Three guesses as to who is the main source for that article smearing Glenn Beck — and your first two don’t count.)

If you don’t understand the strategic advantage that the Left gains by continually hyping  their scary stories about  the threat of “right-wing extremism,” you are a worse fool than Patrick Bedell’s ideological BFF — Rosie “Fire Can’t Melt Steel” O’Donnell:

Senior White House Adviser: Get Stuffed

by Smitty

Instapundit points to a WSJ article going on about Gloria Borger on Wolf Blitzer, emphasis mine:

Velshi: All right, Gloria, how much of a hint is the president going to make? Or is it not going to be hinted? Is he going to say, “This is the [ObamaCare] compromise. If you can’t find it in yourselves to do it, to support this for Republicans, we’re going to get it through the Senate”?
Borger: Right. This isn’t going to be subtle at all today. I think this is it. I was speaking with one senior White House adviser just before I came on the air, and he said, think of it this way. This is the last helicopter out of Saigon, OK?

To that SWHA: get stuffed, you useless sack.

  • The will of We The People is not a Communist attack.
  • (However, it could be argued that the Administration in the White House is less than representative, like the South Vietnamese government, in its policies.)
  • The current political unrest in the country is not an armed assault, and one prays that all of the feedback to this atrocious Administration and Congress remain peaceful.
  • Continued attempts to demonize the American people further debase the Administrations political capital. Way to be part of the problem, and not part of the solution.

<wishful_thinking>
Is the problem at all fixable before the next round of elections? I’ve vented enough here about the irritation, but we do need to stand ready to detect and respond positively to a substantial, pro-American attitude change from the Administration. For all we despise these kinds of scurrilous comparisons, we need to remember that the Left’s relentless assault on the Bush Administration helped deepen the chasm between Progressives and Americans, and stand willing to fill in that chasm, should Progressivism re-awaken to what this country is actually about.

Yeah, I know, it’s already March, but it’s still a very cool calendar and it’s free.

Can Dylan Ratigan Join The Coffee Party, Please?

by Smitty

It’s fairly viral now that Dylan Ratigan is a ass, a jackass, and a king among jackasses. Greg Gutfeld on Red Eye organizes Ratigan in a delightful manner:
“I guess it sucks doing Rachel Maddow’s laundry.”
Gateway Pundit was on local TV in a clip concerning the Coffee Party.
An independent, homeschooling activist was featured, who, along with other coffee beaners, just wants to get all Jack Johnson about politics:

Banana pancakes; cuppa joe; and let’s be perfectly clear who’se channeling Rick James.

What Is The Appropriate Level Of Census Participation?

by Smitty

Via Drudge, the AP has an interesting bit on the Patriot Act vs. the Census:

In a letter to Congress, the Obama administration provided its legal position that census data cannot be disclosed under the Patriot Act, the nation’s main counterterrorism law. The government has previously given legal assurances the information will not be used for immigration enforcement.
“If Congress intended to override these protections it would say so clearly and explicitly,” wrote Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich.

Jerry Day has a YouTube clip of righteousness:This is just another brick in the wall of Federal overreach.

MSNBC’s Alternative Reality

While working on my taxes (trying to figure my mileage for 2009) I’ve had the TV in my basement office tuned to MSNBC. Unless Rachel Maddow and her cohorts are hallucinating, the most important story in the world is . . .

Republicans are desperate! Obama and his health-care plan are overwhelmingly popular! Crazy right-wingers are going psycho with fear!

Meanwhile, no less a Democratic Party loyalist than Howard Dean is saying that Democrats who vote for Obama’s health-care plan are doomed beyond hope of redemption. And Democratic incumbents are retiring faster than you can say “unwanted advances toward a junior male staffer.”

The spectacle of Maddow & Co. whistling past the political graveyard is amusing, but it’s not helping me finish this tax stuff. My wife is going to be angry if I don’t get it done, and soon, and that’s what’s driving me psycho with fear . . .

UPDATE: For those who were wondering, I finished the mileage calculations and so my psycho-fear of Mrs. Other McCain has now subsided.

Also, if you’re one of the people who hit the tip jar to help fund my travels during 2009, thank you very, very much. I’m now actually considering a sort of “Victory Lap” road trip in a few weeks to celebrate the past year’s successes, meet up with some friends and do some campaign coverage. Our good friend Barbara Espinosa lives in Arizona (where a certain crazy cousin of mine thinks he’s too young for retirement), and I’m thinking I might stop in Kansas City to see my buddy Nathan Cossey en route.

This expedition could even go all the way to California, where JSF at Valley of the Shadow has been soliciting my interest lately. The itinerary is sketchy at this point, but once I pay back the rental-car company for that deer I hit in Tupper Lake while covering the Hoffman campaign . . .

Well, I just got off the phone with Smitty, who sees the insane genius factor involved. The route could be something like this: Columbus, Ohio; St. Louis, Mo.; Kansas City, Mo.; Austin, Texas; Phoenix, Ariz.; Las Vegas, Nev.; and Los Angeles, Calif. That’s 3,357 miles.

The return trip would involve a swing through the South — I’d like to see Pat Austin in Shreveport and visit some folks in Alabama, Georgia and Florida– and the total mileage could exceed 7,000 miles. All 7,000 of those miles would be tax-deductible as legitimate business expenses.

Hit the tip jar, folks. This might be even more fun than NY-23 or the Scott Brown campaign. As long as I don’t hit another deer . . .

The Previous Rumor About Al Gore Having Integrity Was A Flop

by Smitty (h/t Memorandum)

Above the Law notes that the Chief Justice John Roberts rumor about his impending departure was started in a Georgetown Law School class that “…was partially on the validity of informants not explaining their sources.”

The room full of Obama votersfirst year students didn’t seem to make the connection between the class topic and the primo ganja rumor. Sissypuss the Blog Kitty heard that they had previously tried a rumor about integrity and Al Gore, but the snores in the room only got louder.

Tee hee hee.

Letterman Successfully Continues To Avoid Success

by Smitty

The Recovering Liberal has a good read up about David Letterman still spiraling downward as he eats his ratings out, watching Leno clean up with Sarah Palin on in the first week back.
Is there a pattern of commitment to self-destruction afoot? Letterman seems to resemble the POTUS in the negative glide slope department. Soundgarden is probably too dark for this point, but there seems to be a thread of the deliberate afoot: Continue reading Letterman Successfully Continues To Avoid Success →
