Who Is Funding the Foreign Invasion?

The election-year propaganda campaign continues:

A growing throng of Central American migrants resumed their advance toward the U.S. border in southern Mexico on Sunday, overwhelming Mexican government attempts to stop them at the border.
Their numbers swelled to about 5,000 overnight and at first light they set out walking toward the Mexican town of Tapachula, 10 abreast in a line stretching approximately a mile (1.5 kilometers).
Several hundred more already had applied for refugee status in Mexico and an estimated 1,500 were still on the Guatemalan side of the Suchiate River, hoping to enter legally.
It was not immediately clear where the additional travelers had materialized from since about 2,000 had been gathered on the Mexican side Saturday night. But people have been joining and leaving the caravan daily, some moving at their own pace and strung out in a series of columns as they moved across Guatemala. . . .
Olivin Castellanos, 58, a truck driver and mason from Villanueva, Honduras, said he took a raft across the river after Mexico blocked the bridge. “No one will stop us, only God,” he said. “We knocked down the door and we continue walking.”

Gosh, I guess this is just another random coincidence:

As a mob of thousands of migrants made their way north from Honduras toward the U.S. border last week, events in a closely-watched congressional race took an important turn. Politico reported that Democrats had pulled resources out of their campaign against Republican Rep. Will Hurd in the 23rd District of Texas. If their national leadership has ceded TX23 — one of the most competitive districts in the country — Democrats’ chance of a Nov. 6 “blue wave” is now in serious doubt.
The connection between the American midterm election and the northbound caravan of Honduran migrants is probably not a coincidence, although liberals in the media will scream “conspiracy theory” at any Republican who points this out. If your cynical hunch is that the latest “refugee” crisis has been manufactured by the Left as an election-year propaganda effort, however, you’re not alone. A Google search for the terms “Soros + Honduras + caravan” turned up nearly 300,000 results Friday. You don’t have to be paranoid to suspect that billionaire George Soros is paying the bills whenever you see any allegedly spontaneous “grassroots” activism on behalf of Democrats. When a left-wing activist was arrested last week for assaulting the female campaign manager for Nevada GOP gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt, it turned out the suspect was on the payroll of American Bridge 21st Century, an organization funded by — you guessed, didn’t you? — George Soros.
Without regard to whether the Honduran migrant caravan is another Soros-funded project, the timing would seem to indicate it was organized with the aim of impacting the midterm elections. The caravan began heading north just as Democrats were raising alarms about a lack of interest among Hispanic voters. . . .

Report: Brett Kimberlin and DNC Staffer Helped Push ‘Russiagate’ to Feds

‘Speedway Bomber’ Brett Kimberlin was sentenced to 50 years in 1981

From the Populist TV Morning Report:

In an exclusive report, Lee Stranahan highlighted a Facebook post by operative Alexandra Chalupa made the day after the 2016 election where Chalupa said: “Homeland Security / DOJ teamed up with a group that is part of Anonymous based in Washington D.C. called “The Protectors.”
The alleged hacking group “The Protectors” is believed to actually be convicted serial bomber Brett Kimberlin, who worked with Chalupa during and after the election.
A 2012 story about The Protectors has more details on the sketchy claims about the group that Chalupa said worked with the Obama administration.

If you don’t follow Stranahan on Twitter, you may have missed this important news, which Lee livestreamed via Periscope.

Before he went live on Twitter with this report, Lee called me to explain what he had discovered. Alexandra Chalupa was a DNC staffer who left that job in summer 2016 to focus full-time on the Trump/Russia angle. Her association with Kimberlin was reported in 2017. Yet until Lee started poking around, no one seems to have caught the significance of her Facebook post, in which she asserted that “The Protectors” (apparently an online front for Kimberlin’s tax-exempt Justice Through Music Project, and likely involving Neal Rauhauser) had “teamed up” with federal agencies to encourage investigation of the phony Russian “collusion” narrative. Such a connection, if proven, would almost certainly be of interest to current DOJ officials trying to get to the bottom of so-called “Deep State” efforts by federal employees to sabotage the Trump administration. Expect more news about this.

Soros Foundation Spends Millions Annually to Support Transgender Agenda

Left-wing billionaire George Soros is funding transgender activism through his Open Society Foundation (OSF), according to a new report by a British academic who found that OSF has made more than $6 million in grants to transgender organizations since 2011. University of Oxford sociology Professor Michael Biggs wrote in his report:

How much has OSF spent to promote the transgender movement? In 2011–13, it spent $3.19 million, which made it the top funder, followed by Stryker’s Arcus Foundation and Pritzker’s Tawani Foundation (Funders for LBTQ Issues 2015). OSF’s current database includes grants worth $3.07 million for 2016–17 (searching for keywords “trans” and “transgender”). The largest recipients in this current tranche are the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans and Intersex Association ($642,000), Global Action for Trans Equality ($500,000), and Transgender Europe ($500,000).

Professor Biggs showed how the Soros money helps fund propoaganda that exaggerates the problem of violence against transgender people:

As we saw, OSF gave $500,000 to Transgender Europe in the past two years. Transgender Europe also received $1,072,000 from the Arcus Foundation from 2010 to 2017 (Arcus Foundation 2018). The organization’s projects include the Transgender Day of Remembrance, which is underpinned by a comprehensive database of victims throughout the world, Trans Murder Monitoring. This database counted 325 trans victims of violence in year from October 2016 to September 2017 (TMM 2017). The great majority of these occurred in Central and South America. There were only three in Western Europe, and thankfully none in the United Kingdom. Surprisingly, perhaps, the Transgender Day of Remembrance was widely observed in Britain in November 2017. In many universities, for example, candles were lit for each of the victims, the transgender flag was raised, speakers were invited, and services held. Searching university websites (the domain .ac.uk), we find over 2,800 webpages containing the phrase “Transgender Day of Remembrance”.
While no transgender person was murdered in the United Kingdom in 2017, 138 women were killed by men, including murders where a man was the principal suspect (Smith 2018). These data were compiled by Karen Ingala Smith, who receives no funding for this work. She started recording such deaths in 2009, under the rubric of Counting Dead Women. This was developed into the Femicide Census, with minimal funding and pro-bono support by two legal firms (Femicide Census 2016). Despite the diligent research over many years, this has left barely a trace in British universities. The equivalent search on their websites yields fewer than a hundred webpages containing the phrases “Femicide Census” or “Counting Dead Women”.
To sum up, more than a hundred women are murdered each year in the United Kingdom at the hands of males, but no day has been set aside to commemorate their deaths. Transgender murders are exceedingly rare—eight in the past decade (Trans Crime UK 2017; Evening Standard 2018)—and yet they have an institutionalized day of remembrance. Even if we consider the homicide rate rather than the number of homicides, Nicola Williams demonstrates that transgender people are no more likely to become victims than are women (Fairplay for Women 2017).

Because Soros has been “vilified by right-wingers,” Professor Biggs notes, “those of us who are liberal or progressive tend to react instinctively by dismissing any scrutiny of Soros out of hand.” However, he says, this unwillingness to examine Soros’ agenda is “unjustified,” as illustrated by the influence gained by Soros-funded transgender activists.

RECENTLY:

Yes, #BlackLivesMatter Is About Hate

“With Election Day only weeks away, it is possible the chaos in the Tarheel State is part of a left-wing get-out-the-vote effort to foment unrest in the state’s black communities. . . .
“Riots, of course, are the stock in trade of radical speculator George Soros, the preeminent funder of the Left who has given generously to Black Lives Matter. Soros has a long history of underwriting violence and civil unrest not just in America but all over the world.”

— Matthew Vadum, “Charlotte Burning,” Sept. 22, 2016

“Seriously, what are you supposed to do if an angry mob surrounds your car and you’re trapped? I guess you can sit and wait for help to arrive, and pray that help arrives in time. But when the angry mob is also trying to throw white people in fires, the help might be too busy to get there in time to save you. So really, what the hell do you do?”
— The Lonely Conservative, “If Your Car Is Surrounded By A Rioting Gang Of Thugs What Do You Do?” Sept. 22, 2016

It should not be necessary, after a year of CNN-inspired race riots, to explain that #BlackLivesMatter is not a spontaneous grassroots movement about curbing police brutality. The movement launched last year is led by professional activists, funded by a network of “progressive” tax-exempt foundations (connected to billionaire George Soros) in consultation with Democrat Party operatives. A major goal of #BlackLivesMatter is purely political — i.e., driving black voter turnout to help elect Hillary Clinton and other Democrats — and also to influence public policy, to undermine law enforcement and, arguably, to infringe free speech protections. (Glenn Reynolds has been suspended from USA Today for his “run them down” tweet.) By inciting riots in the black community, the Left simultaneously incites fear in the white community, and when white people condemn the kind of criminal violence #BlackLivesMatter inspires — first in Ferguson, then in Baltimore, most recently in Charlotte — this response is labeled “racism.” No one can credibly claim Professor Reynolds is a racist, and yet his “run them down” tweet made him a target of the Thought Police, and the online progressive bully mob turned its rage against him. Thus are the limits of discourse increasingly narrowed in a way that favors the Democrat Party.

This is not an accident.

These consequences of the #BlackLivesMatter movement — which the Democrat Party’s media machine, particularly CNN, have helped promote — were predictable, and it is therefore not a paranoid “conspiracy theory” to assume that these consequences are entirely intentional. It would be naïve in the extreme to suppose that the professional activists who descended on Ferguson, Missouri, in August 2014 didn’t know what they were doing, or what the results would be. Militant anarchists produce violent chaos, racial mau-mauing begets hostility, and history provides enough lessons about where such movements lead that only fools could believe that the sponsors of #BlackLivesMatter (including CNN and the Democrat Party) did not foresee the consequences.

That message to truck drivers (including my brother Kirby) to “avoid the area near I85 and I77 if at all possible” was sent out Wednesday night after a criminal mob descended on the freeway in downtown Charlotte, intent on perpetrating violence. As Professor Reynolds pointed out in his statement to USA Today, his “run them down” tweet was in response to a local TV reporter’s interview with a driver whose truck had been looted by the vandal horde: “She is still inside her truck as people loot her cargo and burn it. She fears for her life. . . . ‘I understand they want to make a statement but they are hurting innocent people trying to make a living.’ . . . This was an absolutely horrifying interview. She kept asking me where police are. She’s trapped inside as people destroy her truck and cargo.” It was this threat to an innocent civilian — a female truck driver, surrounded by a mob of dangerous thugs, with no police protection amid the violent riot #BlackLivesMatter activists had deliberately provoked — that brought back a vivid memory of the past for Professor Reynolds: “I remember Reginald Denny, a truck driver who was beaten nearly to death by a mob during the 1992 Los Angeles riots.”

Young people have no memory of the 1992 riots, which were arguably caused by CNN’s dishonest editing of the video in which Rodney King was arrested by Los Angeles police. If you watched the full-length video, and knew that Rodney King was under the influence of PCP at the time he was confronted by police after a high-speed pursuit, you realized that the baton-wielding police were dealing with a dangerously violent suspect who had already been tazed and was still resisting arrest. How are police to handcuff a suspect who is resisting arrest? When a criminal is apprehended and refuses to comply with the commands of officers armed with pistols, this always creates a life-or-death situation for police, because a struggling suspect may attempt to grab the officer’s weapon. Does “social justice” require police suffer death or injury rather than to use their batons to subdue a violent criminal? This was what anyone with common sense could see, once the full video of the Rodney King arrest was shown and the relevant facts had been reported. However, because CNN had spent several days repeatedly broadcasting a deceptively edited version of the video before the full version was finally shown, they created a false impression of the situation that led to the L.A. riots in which the truck driver Reginald Denny was nearly killed.

History teaches us lessons, and anyone old enough to remember 1992 knew what the consequences of #BlackLivesMatter would be. Are we to believe that #BlackLivesMatter leaders, and their accomplices at CNN and in the Democrat Party, did not also foresee this result?

Let’s be clear that these riots are anti-cop and pro-criminal. The Charlotte riot was about the police shooting of Keith Scott:

A public records search shows that Scott was convicted in April 2004 of a misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon charge in Mecklenburg County. Other charges stemming from that date were dismissed: felony assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and misdemeanors assault on a child under 12, assault on a female and communicating threats.
In April 2015 in Gaston County Court, Scott was found guilty of driving while intoxicated.
In 1992, Scott was charged in Charleston County, S.C., with several different crimes on different dates, including carrying a concealed weapon (not a gun), simple assault and contributing to the delinquency of a minor. He pleaded guilty to all charges.
Scott also was charged with aggravated assault in 1992 and assault with intent to kill in 1995. Both charges were reduced, but the disposition of the cases is unclear.
According to Bexar County, Texas, records, Scott was sentenced in March 2005 to 15 months in a state jail for evading arrest. In July of that year, records show, he was sentenced to seven years in prison on a conviction of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. A Texas Department of Criminal Justice spokesman said Scott completed his sentence and was released from prison in 2011.

Keith Scott was a career criminal with a record in three states. He had a history of armed violence. His victims included women and children. Certainly, he was not a symbolic hero of “social justice.”

#BlackLivesMatter is a racial hate movement, organized with the assistance of the Democrat Party and its media apparatus, with the goal of exploiting hatred in order to elect Hillary Clinton president.

George Soros: Forget About Adam Smith; My Invisible Pimp Hand Is Strong

by Smitty (via George Scoville)

Via the BlogCon email list, Scoville pointed to a George Soros column Politico. First, it’s a brief article. At just under 1,500 words, there is no way to shoehorn complex ideas into a small space. Nevertheless, it is revealing, and you should read the whole thing.

Soros gives us some biographical information, and then sets up Popper and Hayek as intellectual competitors. Popper preaching falsifiability, Hayek the invisible hand that plays Freedbird on the guitar of the marketplace. I’ll note that Popper offers a methodological tool; Hayek an analysis.

Soros offers a play-by-play of the Popper/Hayek debate in Economica for which he is old enough to have been present.

With that, here is what I think is the center of Soros’ argument, emphasis mine throughout:

While I was admiring the elegance of Popper’s theory, I was also studying elementary economics. I was struck by a contradiction between the theory of perfect competition, which postulated perfect knowledge, with Popper’s theory, which asserted that perfect knowledge was unattainable. The contradiction could be resolved by recognizing that economic theory cannot meet the standards of Newtonian physics.

Should Any ‘Spooky Dude’ Be Allowed To Recast The Global Economy?

by Smitty (via Drudge)

Liberty? Sovereignty? Are they quaint notions? The Business & Media Institute reports:

Two years ago, George Soros said he wanted to reorganize the entire global economic system. In two short weeks, he is going to start – and no one seems to have noticed.

On April 8, a group he’s funded with $50 million is holding a major economic conference and Soros’s goal for such an event is to “establish new international rules” and “reform the currency system.” It’s all according to a plan laid out in a Nov. 4, 2009, Soros op-ed calling for “a grand bargain that rearranges the entire financial order.”

The event is bringing together “more than 200 academic, business and government policy thought leaders’ to repeat the famed 1944 Bretton Woods gathering that helped create the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. Soros wants a new ‘multilateral system,” or an economic system where America isn’t so dominant.

RTWT.
While stridently resisting the whole tinfoil hat scene, let me put it this way to any conservative political hopefuls who want traction for 2012. Frame your economic positions in terms of:

  • Protecting US sovereignty from international economic undermining.
  • Restoring sanity to fiscal policy.
  • Actually balancing the budget and eliminating deficit spending.

Anyone who can speak coherently about these issues has the election half won.

Hey, Remember That Crazy Conspiracy Theory Glenn Beck Was Talking About?

According to every Serious Foreign Policy Pundit, it’s absolutely insane for Beck to assert that the Left and the Islamists are in alliance to bring revolution to the Middle East. However, as Donald Douglas points out, that’s what the Left is telling us:

The neo-Stalinist ANSWER homepage has the announcement, “Emergency demonstrations: Stop all U.S. aid to Mubarak dictatorship” . . .
Code Pink’s Jodie Evans . . . served as a top campaign fundraiser for Barack Obama, and now her organization is leading a fundraising operation for the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt: “Code Pink: Obama, Hamas, Muslim Brotherhood Ally Raising (Tax Exempt) Money to Overthrow Egypt Gov’t” . . .

But don’t let yourself be distracted by mere facts. Bill Kristol says Glenn Beck is “hysterical” and it must be true because, after all, Bill Kristol is a Serious Foreign Policy Pundit and Glenn Beck is just . . . well, he’s just Glenn Beck, right?

And really, who is this Lisa Graas person who tells us about “Five Revolutions Backed by George Soros”?

“The Soros centre’s job in eastern Europe is nearly finished. Its main focus now is the Islamic world, Arab countries, Turkey, Pakistan, Afghanistan, etc.”

Oh, that’s not a quote from Lisa Graas. That’s a 2007 quote by Dr. Kian Tajbakhsh, a consultant for the Soros-funded Open Society Institute.

But don’t believe that crazy conspiracy-theory stuff. Trust the Serious Foreign Policy Pundits. Because they’ve never been wrong before.

My friend Dr. James Joyner, however, is of another opinion:

Going back at least to William F. Buckley, Jr.’s famous article casting the John Birch Society out of the legitimate conservative moment, it has been understood that letting the fringe define the cause hurts it. Buckley correctly reasoned that Birch founder Robert Welch’s crazy and outrageous conspiracy theories were tainting the legitimate anti-Communist movement.
Similarly, the psychotic rantings of Glenn Beck invite ridicule on the rest of us. Legitimate points are inevitably countered by comparisons with absurd variants by Beck, Coulter, Limbaugh, and others who make a living stoking the fears of the base. This is, at best, a distraction from the debate and, often, makes intelligent discussion of the issues next to impossible because they’ve been preemptively framed by the loudest, most shrill, most hyperbolic voices.

How many times have we heard variations of this argument?

“Oh, Buckley purged the Birchers and therefore, we must now cast aside Uncouth Person X and distance ourselves from Populist Organization Y, because above all else, the Official Conservative Movement must maintain its precious respectability!”

If we had listened to that argument in 2009, there never would have been a Tea Party movement. Republicans would have rolled over and played dead and gone along with the whole Obama/Pelosi/Reid agenda because it was not respectable to oppose Keynesian “stimulus” spending, cap-and-trade, nationalized health care, and so forth.

Now that “the loudest, most shrill, most hyperbolic voices” have succeeded in fomenting grassroots opposition, however, we are told that elected representatives must ignore the people who elected them and, instead, must heed those respectable voices who did nothing at all to help encourage the Tea Party movement.

Hey, let’s dump Ann Coulter because, after all, “the Age of Ann has passed,” right? She’s only the author of, what, five or six New York Times bestsellers?

Yeah, let’s get rid of Coulter because a bunch of bloggers said so.

Purge Coulter! Purge Beck! Purge Sarah Palin! Purge Mark Levin! Purge Rush Limbaugh!

Purge! Purge! Purge!

And keep right on purging until the only people inside the Big Tent are respectable Republicans like Mike Castle, Lincoln Chafee, Arlen Specter and Charlie Crist, and the motto of the Official Conservative Movement becomes, “Me, Too.”

UPDATE: Linked by The Great One: “Cool it with the Stalinist purge crap.”

UPDATE II: Please permit me to point out that, while any conservative who mentions the influence of George Soros is portrayed as a dangerous conspiracy kook, it is perfectly acceptable for liberals to demonize the Koch brothers as right-wing puppetmasters.

UPDATE III: Did I ever mention that you never want to make Dan Riehl pissed off at you?

Religious Left Infiltrates Catholic Agency?

Lisa Graas reports:

According to a document revealed by Creative Minority Report (CMR), we now have definitive proof that the pro-abortion mindset dwells even at the highest levels of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops. The document is a public campaign finance report for Planned Parenthood-endorsed pro-abortion candidate Wendy Davis listing Ralph McCloud as campaign treasurer during his first year as the Director of the Catholic Campaign for Human Development (CCHD).

Davis is a Democrat who won a Texas state senate seat, previously held by a Republican, in the suburbs of Fort Worth during the Obama “wave” of 2008. So why would the USCCB appoint a pro-abortion politician’s campaign treasurer as head of a major Catholic agency?

Does the name George Soros ring a bell? Since 2005, Soros’ Open Society Foundations has given hundreds of thousands of dollars to Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good:

John Podesta, who runs the Soros-funded organization, Center for American Progress, admits that he works closely with Catholics in Alliance and Catholics United.

This Soros-backed effort has been exposed in a documentary called Obama’s Counterfeit Catholics:

Michael Voris has compiled extensive documentation about this Soros-backed project. Like the oxymoronically named “Catholics for Choice,” the purpose of Catholics in Alliance for the Common Good is to convey a simple message to ignorant people: “God wants you to vote Democrat.”

Learn more about the Religious Left.
