MSNBC Cuts Ties Unexpectedly
With Weekend Host Tiffany Cross

Who is Tiffany Cross? When and how did she become an MSNBC host?

In July 2020, her book Say It Louder: Black Voters, Our Voices, and the Shaping of American Democracy was published. That same month, Joy Reid’s new weekday show, The ReidOut, started, and Cross became one of a handful of rotating guest hosts of AM Joy. . . . In December, Cross was named host of a new two-hour show on MSNBC, Cross Connection . . . replacing Reid’s AM Joy Saturday slot.

Notice the timing? A few weeks after the George Floyd riots started, Joy Reid got promoted from her weekend slot to a five-day-a-week show and Cross, who had frequently been a guest on Reid’s show, became one of a rotating case of fill-in hosts, before finally getting her own show.

It would appear that MSNBC had a programming quota — basically, The Angry Black Woman Weekend Show — but after the George Floyd riots, they carved out another spot on their weekday schedule, and that created an opportunity for Tiffany Cross. What did she do with that opportunity? Well, she ranted against white people with such vehemence that, a couple of weeks ago, Tucker Carlson compared her to the militant Hutu radio broadcasts that incited the 1994 genocide in Rwanda.

You might have thought that would have gotten Tiffany Cross’s attention, and inspired her to tone down her rhetoric, but if that’s what you expected, your expectations would have been disappointed.

“Unexpectedly”! Did anybody at MSNBC bother to investigate Tiffany Cross’ background before they hired her? Were there no warning signs, no red flags, nothing to suggest she might be “problematic”?

Y’know, maybe the fact that she was past 40 and, despite all the “diversity” efforts by major media organizations, she wasn’t already working for a network? When she got her own MSNBC show in December 2020, Cross was “a resident fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics, [and] previously worked as D.C. bureau chief for BET Networks and as a field producer for CNN.”

Hmmm. So she’d been a field producer for CNN about 20 years ago, but they didn’t keep her on staff? Reckon why that was? You think maybe somebody at CNN noticed she was a hate-filled lunatic?

But while we’re on the topic of utterly predictable media failures, CNBC has canceled Shepard Smith’s show — “unexpectedly”!

‘President of United Earth’ Stacey Abrams Insults Georgia Sheriffs in TV Debate

Posted on | November 3, 2022 | 2 Comments

Liberals in Hollywood decided that election denier Stacey Abrams (who lost to Brian Kemp by 55,000 votes in 2018) would be perfect for the role of “President of United Earth” in the Star Trek Discovery series, but without explaining exactly how she might obtain such a lofty position. Fortunately, politics in the real world is nothing like science fiction, and Abrams more or less guaranteed her own defeat in Sunday’s debate:

Democrat Stacey Abrams said in the final Georgia gubernatorial debate that state sheriffs want to “take Black people off the streets,” handing Republicans a talking point on a pivotal issue a little over a week before the election.
During the Sunday debate on WSB-TV in Atlanta, Ms. Abrams fired back after Republican Gov. Brian Kemp touted his support from law enforcement, saying that he had been endorsed by 107 state sheriffs.
“As I pointed out before, I’m not a member of the good ol’ boys club. So, no, I don’t have 107 sheriffs who want to be able to take Black people off the streets, who want to be able to go without accountability,” said Ms. Abrams. . . .

She immediately tried to walk it back, saying she didn’t mean every sheriff in Georgia, but guess who’s not buying that excuse?

Effingham County Sheriff Jimmy McDuffie, president of the Georgia Sheriffs Association, said he was “incredibly disappointed to hear what Ms. Abrams had to say about the sheriffs of our state.”
“Stacey Abrams‘ comments about Georgia sheriffs in Sunday night’s debate are exactly the type of false, demoralizing, and offensive accusations that have driven good men and women away from the law enforcement profession,” said Mr. McDuffie in a statement.
Police and sheriffs “put their lives on the line for everyone in their community — no matter their race, background, or walk of life. To suggest otherwise is insulting and outrageous,” he said.
He also called on her to “immediately apologize to Georgia’s law enforcement community.”

Being a native of Atlanta myself, I have direct experience with sheriffs in the state, and I don’t care who you are, don’t eff around in Georgia.

Polls indicate Abrams might lose by double digits this time. She can’t lose by a big enough margin to suit my tastes. Let her go campaign among the Klingons, but please get her the hell out of Georgia.

Democrats and Media (But I Repeat Myself) Begin Midterm Pre-Mortems

Posted on | November 2, 2022 | 5 Comments

After a few weeks of false hope — a late-summer poll bump that peaked in September and has now collapsed — Democrats and their media allies are beginning to come to grips with the fact that their congressional majority is going to get wiped out in next week’s midterm election.

The bottom is dropping out
of the 2022 election for Democrats

That’s the headline on a CNN column by Chris Cillizza, in which he cites the latest Cook Report and Gallup numbers to conclude, “it appears as though Republicans are on the verge of a major national victory.”

When even CNN is forced to admit things look bad for Democrats, you know that things look very bad for Democrats. Yet nobody at CNN will admit that they are part of the problem. For most of the past year, CNN has led every hour, 24 hours a day, with breathless updates from Nancy Pelosi’s J6 witchhunt committee’s “investigation” of the January 2021 Capitol riot — “a threat to our democracy!” — as if nothing else in the world was nearly as newsworthy. Hyping up this “get Trump” narrative was part of a political propaganda operation intended to distract from the Biden administration’s multitudinous failures by making Donald Trump the Emmanuel Goldstein of the midterm campaign.

And guess what? Nobody fucking cares anymore.

Did any substantial number of people outside the DC media/political bubble ever really care about the J6 “investigation”? I don’t think so.

Gas prices are still at least 75% higher than when Biden was elected, prices for many other commodities are sky-high, there may be a shortage of home heating oil this winter, and the generally catastrophic effects of “Bidenflation” have completely overwhelmed every other issue that might have mattered. Given what an awful president Biden has been, a lot of voters are thinking the Capitol rioters had a point. If they had known he was going to be this bad, everybody else would have rioted, too.

Failure has consequences, and Democrats can’t escape the verdict that voters will deliver next Tuesday. So now the question is, who to blame?

Top Democrats Question Their Party’s
Strategy as Midterm Worries Grow

Leading lawmakers and strategists are openly doubting
the party’s kitchen-sink approach, saying Democrats
have failed to unite around one central message.

That’s the headline on a 1,500-word New York Times story which is the latest reiteration of the familiar excuse whenever Democrats lose:

“WE DIDN’T GET OUR MESSAGE OUT!”

My old buddy Pete Parisi used to laugh at this habit of Democrats, who never see a problem with their own policies, but despite the fact that 95% of the media are completely in the tank for them, choose to believe that their inability to deliver a “message” is their real problem.

Here’s a sweet taste of delusion from the NYT story:

“The truth is, Democrats have done a poor job of communicating our approach to the economy,” said Representative Elissa Slotkin, a Democrat from Michigan who is in one of this year’s most competitive races. “I have no idea if I’m going to win my election — it’s going to be a nail biter. But if you can’t speak directly to people’s pocketbook and talk about our vision for the economy, you’re just having half a conversation.”

Keep in mind that the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee has spent nearly $5 million trying to save Slotkin’s seat. She is the New York-born heiress to a meatpacking fortune, who attended a posh private school, got a sociology degree from Cornell and a master’s degree in international affairs from Columbia before going to work for the CIA.

Slotkin’s idea that she’s on the verge of losing her congressional seat because Democrats failed to “talk about our vision for the economy” — well, as Orwell said, “One has to belong to the intelligentsia to believe things like that: no ordinary man could be such a fool.”

Because they’re so wrapped up in their bubble of delusions, Democrats don’t seem to notice that anything has gone wrong on Biden’s watch, never mind trying to understand why it’s gone wrong. So tonight, in one final Hail Mary pass with the clock running out, Biden is speaking at Union Station about how voting for Republicans is a “threat to democracy” or whatever. And it’s on live TV, because having the media give one more free TV spot to Joe Biden will save Democrats.

Never has a party deserved to lose as much as they do.

UPDATE: Welcome, Instapundit readers!

Dana Pico Schools Jen Rubin (But Trump Derangement Syndrome Is Incurable)

Posted on | November 2, 2022 | 2 Comments

My general stance toward Jennifer Rubin is to ignore her as much as possible, which is quite easy, because she’s become so predictable that no intelligent person takes her seriously. Recall that she was hired by the Washington Post as a “conservative” columnist, but good luck finding any controversial topic on which she takes the conservative position, and since the rise of Donald Trump in 2015, Rubin has been shrieking in unison with all the other #NeverTrump True Conservative Principles™ types who lost their minds from Trump Derangement Syndrome.

After the husband of Speaker Nancy Pelosi was attacked Friday in the couple’s San Francisco mansion by a deranged Canadian nudist, Jennifer Rubin immediately jumped onto the left-wing media bandwagon — did I mention she’s predictable? — trying to blame this incident on “extremist” rhetoric from Republicans. Jeff Goldstein explains what’s wrong with that narrative (i.e., everything), sparing me the trouble of composing a thorough fisking of Rubin’s Oct. 31 column:

Republicans have made
violence part of their brand

Is it really my duty, as a mere blogger, to dismantle Rubin’s nonsense paragraph by paragraph, sentence by sentence? Is there anything in there that deserves so much of my attention? (Quick scan: nope.)

The unfavorable work-to-annoyance ratio, however, did not discourage Dana Pico at First Street Journal. After a late-night tweet on Sunday when Rubin, perhaps three-quarters of the way through her nightly half-gallon of wine, declared, “if Republicans would stop inciting violence crime might go down,” Dana sprang into action and cited the case of “Killadelphia” as disproving Rubin’s hypothesis:

In 2020, there were 1,009 murders in the Keystone State, 499, or 49.45%, of which occurred in Philadelphia. According to the 2020 Census, Pennsylvania’s population was 13,002,700 while Philadelphia’s alone was 1,603,797, just 12.33% of Pennsylvania’s totals.
It got worse last year: with 562 homicides in Philly, out of 1027 total for Pennsylvania, 54.72% of all homicides in the Keystone State occurred in Philadelphia. Allegheny County, where Pittsburgh is located, was second, with 123 killings, 11.98% of the state’s total, but only 9.52% of Pennsylvania’s population.
The other 65 counties, with 78.11% of the state’s total population, had 33.30% of total murders.
In 2020, Philadelphians gave 81.44% of their votes to Joe Biden. The Mayor, Jim Kenney, is a Democrat, as have been every Mayor since Harry Truman was President. The George Soros-sponsored District Attorney, let ’em loose Larry Krasner, is a Democrat, and won re-election in 2021, by a landslide. Philadelphia is by every possible measure, a heavily Democratic city.
It’s more than that. Those 65 counties other than Philadelphia and Allegheny? They gave 54.98% of their two-party votes — meaning: third party candidates excluded — to President Trump! It seems as though those evil, reich-wing Republicans whom Mrs Rubin claims are “inciting violence” are inciting it in heavily Democratic areas!
I’m far less familiar with our other murder capitals, like Baltimore (87.28% of vote in Baltimore City to Mr Biden) and St Louis (80.85% of vote in St Louis city to Mr Biden) and New Orleans (83.15% of Orleans Parish to Mr Biden) and Chicago (74.35% of vote in Cook County to Mr Biden), but it seems like most them are not exactly Republican strongholds.
It’s clear: Mrs Rubin somehow sees the assault on Mr Pelosi as somehow a far, far, far worse thing than the 441 murders in Philadelphia so far this year, or the 562 who were killed in 2021. I suppose I can only fault her partially for that, because that’s pretty much the way the Democrats as a whole see things.

These statistics are insuperable proof that Jen Rubin is an idiot and, to repeat what I’ve often said before: Crime is a people problem.

Democrats want us to believe crime is caused by guns, or poverty, or racism, but in fact crime is caused by — wait for it — criminals.

Democrats don’t want to put criminals in prison, because — once again, wait for it — Democrats are the pro-crime party. When people elect Democrats, they are voting for more crime, so the people of Philadelphia are actually choosing the daily bloodbath that is destroying their city.

Jennifer Rubin doesn’t care how many people get murdered in Philadelphia (or St. Louis, or New Orleans, or Baltimore, or any other Democrat-controlled urban hellhole) as long as the survivors keep electing Democrats. This is the sum and essence of her politics — Democrats good, Republicans bad — and no amount of evidence will change her mind. Trump Derangement Syndrome is incurable.

Red Wave Hits New Hampshire?

Posted on | November 1, 2022 | Comments Off on Red Wave Hits New Hampshire?

This would almost certainly flip the Senate to GOP control:

New Hampshire Republican Senate candidate Gen. Don Bolduc has taken the lead for the first time over Democrat Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) in New Hampshire’s Senate race, a Tuesday Saint Anselm poll revealed.
Forty-eight percent of voters selected Gen. Bolduc, while Hassan only garnered 47 percent, well below the coveted 50 percent threshold for an incumbent. Three percent were unsure.
The poll surveyed 1,541 New Hampshire likely voters from October 28-29 with a 2.5 margin of error.
Campaign spokeswoman Kate Constantini told Breitbart News the result of the polls shows the Bolduc campaign’s grassroots initiatives are producing results.
“This result is not surprising since General Bolduc has spent this entire campaign speaking directly with New Hampshire voters about the important issues facing our country,” Constantini said. “Momentum is hard to get and even harder to stop, and we are taking nothing for granted this last week of the campaign.”
Gen. Bolduc has clawed his way into the one-point lead, a gain of 12 points in just six weeks, when Hassan had an 11 point lead. A Suffolk University/Boston Globe poll four weeks ago showed Hassan with a nine point lead (50-41 percent) over Gen. Bolduc.
That lead was cut to seven points (52-45 percent) in an October 12 AARP poll. Both polls showed Hassan with majority support.
On October 21, a Fabrizio, Lee & Associates poll showed Gen. Bolduc had tied the race (45-45 percent) with seven percent undecided.
During the campaign, Gen. Bolduc has highlighted four issues: inflation, gas prices, crime, and open borders. According to third quarter fundraising totals, Bolduc has been outspent by $9 million dollars.

So it’s not just one poll — there is a trend of polls showing that the race has shifted toward Bolduc since late September, and this picture of increasing GOP momentum is a nationwide phenomenon. Democrats got a summer poll bump from the Supreme Court abortion decision, but that began fading in September and, over the course of October, the signs of an approaching “red wave” began to multiply. Crucially, Democrats started shifting resources away from defending House seats in districts that Biden had won in 2020 by a few points, toward districts where Biden had won by eight, nine, 10 points. In other words, the Democrats’ own internal polling shows a shift from D to R on a scale similar to the way Virginia flipped last year. Real Clear Politics now projects Bolduc winning in New Hampshire, and FiveThirtyEight is now projecting a GOP Senate majority, based mainly on Adam Laxalt’s strong Senate race in Nevada.

We’re planning a special Election Night edition of The Other Podcast, starting next Tuesday at 7 p.m. ET and running until 1 a.m. The outcome in New Hampshire will be one of the earliest indicators of how the night is shaping up, but I anticipate that nearly every key Senate race will be deemed “too close to call” by the media until midnight or later. Because you’ve got to wait on those mysterious 2 a.m. ballot dumps, am I right?

OK, sorry, didn’t mean to stoke your paranoia — and possibly incite political violence — by suggesting that Democrats might steal the election again, but we all know that Democrats will always cheat enough to win any close election, which means that in order for Republicans to win, they must beat “the margin of theft.” If it’s not close, they can’t steal it.

I am not an “election denier.” I am an election realist.
