Room Under The Bus For As Many Elites As Required

Does the Progressive wing, breast, and thigh of the GOP not get it? Belvedere reports that Senator Gregg is making squishy noises in the vicinity of the Depends at the thought of repealing ObamaCare.
Paco points to Rush Limbaugh, emphasis mine:
Well, now it’s official. The elites in the GOP want to compromise with the Democrats, and they think that’s what you want. It’s all over the news today, and there’s a bunch of lessons here. Here’s how to blow the greatest election opportunity you’ve ever had since 1894, here’s how to blow it two weeks out, and at the same time here is how you form a third party, how you create the circumstances a third party would form.
This is the problem. The elites inside Washington, I don’t care what party, Republican, Democrat, cocktail, doesn’t matter what party, it’s the elites, we need to break the back of the elites out there. They have nothing to do with this grassroots movement that’s the Tea Party, nothing whatsoever. They have nothing to do with any victories in this election. This is going to be very key. All of these big time wins that are on tap two weeks from today, the elites will have had nothing to do with it. The elites have, in fact, stood in the way. The elites have decried and pummeled all of the Tea Party people and the candidates that have arisen from this effervescent grassroots movement. It’s the elites in both parties who paved the way for Obama. It’s the elites in both parties who gave us Senator McCain. The elites in both parties spent like liberals; they paved the way for McCain, they paved the way for Pelosi, for Harry Reid, and Obama. And now they’re sitting in Washington hoping to benefit from the results of an election that is in part in response to their malfeasance.
The wolf closest to the sled is the Democrat party. So the Tea Partiers and bloggers like me and journalists like Stacy are busting tail to help the GOP minimize the Progressive rot in the 112th Congress. Michael Steele and the rest of the GOP poobahs had better not take the wrong lesson from all this, however. In fairness to the entrenched GOP presence, the Tea Parties haven’t proven their stamina; the GOP could arguably be hedging its bets against a return to unconsciousness for the sleeping giant on 03 November. It could happen. We have decades of negligence on record from the electorate, and the Perot 1992 showing as an example of transient attention span.
Nevertheless, GOP, let us paraphrase General Mattis at the PG level:
We come in peace. We didn’t bring artillery. But we’re pleading with you, with tears in our eyes: If you screw with us, we’ll eject you all.
Directly in front of the bus, of course.
More directly still, GOP: the Tea Parties are using you as a matter of convenience, not the other way around. Forget this at your peril.
Trials With Progressive Politicians Could Prove Tricky

An experimental drug developed by researchers at the University of Edinburgh reverses age-related memory decline in mice, returning their brains to a more youthful state of cognitive function.
Now, if used on Lefty rats from the 111th Congress, the chance of a head ‘splosion when they recall their oath to support and defend the Constitution would be high. Fortunately, the kill radius of a pinhead is small; about a yard of distance should be safe enough for researchers. Do mind the chain reactions, though, and keep ’em separated.
Desperate Barney Frank Now Begging for More Democratic Baby-Killer Money
Posted on | October 20, 2010 | 4 Comments
“A vote for me is a vote to save your right to destroy your inconvenient unborn children.”
— Barney Frank
Oh. Wait. Barney didn’t actually say that. But as Pundette says, that’s what he meant when he said this:
My opponent, Sean Bielat, supports the reversal of Roe v. Wade. When asked by a reporter whether he would allow abortion in the case of rape or incest, he refused to answer. On a questionnaire by the Massachusetts Citizens for Life, he agreed with every position taken by that organization.
In other words, Barney believes that Bielat’s unapologetic pro-life stance is a political liability. OK, so let me ask this question: How many faithful Catholics in the 4th District?
How many of those Catholics have voted for Barney Frank in the past? How many Catholic voters in the 4th District know that Sean Bielat is Catholic, and that Barney Frank is sending out fundraising letters attacking Bielat for supporting the Catholic pro-life position?
Look, I remember the Scott Brown campaign. I remember how Martha Coakley lashed herself to the mast on the pro-abortion position. And I remember talking to Catholic Democrats — including elected Democratic public officials — who told me they were voting for Scott Brown.
Some Republicans want to pretend that pro-life voters don’t matter, but in a place like Massachusetts, the Democrat who alienates Catholics on the abortion issue is taking a huge risk if he ever finds himself facing a strong Republican challenger with the courage to stand up and say, “I believe in the right to life.”
Is Jillian Bandes Stalking Marco Rubio?
Posted on | October 20, 2010 | Comments Off on Is Jillian Bandes Stalking Marco Rubio?
The intrepid Townhall reporter is following him all over Florida while singing silly love songs in her car:
We can forgive Jillian if she seems a wee bit obsessed. Marco had us at “hello,” and few developments of the mid-term campaign are more encouraging for conservatives than the success of Rubio, who inspired the “Not One Red Cent” uprising against the GOP Establishment. He’s leading all the polls — including an 8-point lead over RINO-No-More Charlie Crist in the latest Suffolk poll and 11 points in Rasmussen — and now the best Charlie can do is lash out at Marco as an “extreme right-wing candidate” and demagogue on Social Security.
Charlie’s learning that, as Ed Morrissey points out, desperation is not an aphrodisiac — which is why there are no reporters following Charlie around singing “Always Something There to Remind Me.”
UPDATE: Jillian also brings us good news from Florida’ 2nd District in the Panhandle, where Republican Steve Southerland finally appears to be gaining traction against Blue Dog Democrat Allen Boyd. Here’s an ad from Southerland:
And here’s an ad from the NRCC slamming Boyd:
An Americans for Prosperity ad slamming Boyd:
Here’s a heart-warming ad from Steve’s wife (and first-grade sweetheart) Susan:
You should go give Steve Southerland $20 now.
Mrs. Patrick’s Tax-Funded Aide

They don’t call it Taxachusetts for nothing:
Rose Arruda, who makes $55,000 a year to run [Gov. Deval] Patrick’s ribbon cuttings and speaking engagements across the state, also works on up to 52 events a year for the governor’s wife, who’s a lawyer at the prestigious Hub firm Ropes & Gray.
Republicans immediately seized on the news — which comes almost four years after Patrick’s disastrous decision to hire a $72,000 chief of staff for the first lady in the first few months of his term. The aide resigned in March 2007 after public outrage over her hire. . . .

The ‘Shipping Jobs Overseas’ Smear
Posted on | October 20, 2010 | 2 Comments
When I came home from my recent nine-day road trip, I found this piece of mail on the dining room table:
So I picked up the telephone, interviewed Neil Parrott and filed my latest American Spectator column:
HAGERSTOWN, Maryland — Neil Parrott admits he was “very surprised” to find himself accused of supporting “tax breaks for corporations that send jobs overseas.” The attack, he says, “came out of nowhere.”
Although the shipping-jobs-overseas accusation has become a standard-issue smear against Republican congressional candidates this year, its application in this case is particularly surprising, because Parrott isn’t a candidate for Congress. He’s a local businessman running for a seat in the Maryland state legislature, and utterly mystified by the claim his Democratic opponent makes in a slick four-color mailing sent to thousands of Washington County homes last week. The mailing depicts Parrott in front of a map of Mexico and urges voters, “Vote NO on Neil Parrot — BAD for JOBS, BAD for US.” Adding to the xenophobic tone, the Democrat’s mailer calls Parrott an “outsider” and says he “isn’t from Washington County,” although the Republican is a lifelong Maryland resident who lives in Hagerstown — which is in Washington County — where he owns a highway engineering company.
Never mind the facts. It’s an election year, and Democrats desperate to distract voters from their own party’s policy failures aren’t going to let truth stand in their way, so that a small business owner running for a state legislature seat is portrayed as an “outsider” pursuing a hidden agenda behalf of a “Washington D.C. special interest.” . . .
Please read the whole thing. Democrats are engaged in peddling economic ignorance, and they shouldn’t be allowed to get away with it.
UPDATE: Da Tech Guy recounts his rules for road trips with me. I’m currently planning my final road trip of the campaign season — to Florida, where I hope to catch up with Marco Rubio (on whose behalf we waged the “Not One Red Cent” rebellion) and Allen West, whom I first interviewed in June 2008, back when the NRCC wouldn’t give him the time of day. Jim Moran Is A Global Warming Tool. An ObamaCare Tool. Achieve A Tool-fecta On GZM? Why, Yes; Yes, He Can.

St. Albert of Gore himself praised Jim for Moran’s ‘leadership’ on wrecking the economy in the name of Green interests.
And I heard Moran bloviate in person about Nancy Pelosi’s colostomy bag of tricks, or, ObamaCare, as it is commonly despised.
He said essentially the same thing at the Asian-American Debate. Note, though, the convenient invocation of the Constitution in support of religious tolerance (sure), which document he has apparently studied with the attention he lavished upon ObamaCare. Oh, wait. If he’d studied that single most wrenching change in our society in any detail, he might not be from a State whose Attorney General is about to turn ObamaCare into a suppository all these Lefty knobs can enjoy.
We should all be tolerant, on an individual basis. Whether or not, in the specific case of the GZM, New Yorkers, as a group, should tolerate unrepresentative behavior from officeholders is another matter.
So, how can we dispose of Jim?
Last night I was at the local high school, passing out flyers to support Patrick Murray. Total count of Moran supporters at this significant parent’s night event: 0.
Tonight I swung by the campaign office proper, and the joint was packed.

The phones were all manned, so I found myself stuffing envelopes for a mailer to a few thousand ladies in the district.
There are still a couple of debates in the remaining fortnight before the election. Every day, more people find out that someone is offering a credible challenge to this old and tired hack.
Support the new hotness:
