Woman Gang-Raped by Illegal Aliens

Raping the women American rapists won’t rape:

WALDORF, Md. – The Charles County Sheriff’s Office has charged six illegal immigrants with first-degree rape and false imprisonment for allegedly holding a woman hostage for hours and sexually assaulting her — and two more assailants are being sought, investigators said. . . .
More than a dozen other people, men and women, also live at the home, where people rent beds. . . .
The six men were arrested later on Tuesday. Detectives believe additional men were involved, but fled the residence prior to the officers’ arrival.
Police identified the suspected rapists as 20-year-old Henry Misael Hernandez-Ramos, 28-year-old Adelio Orellana Cruz, 21-year-old Ivan Urillas-Hernandez, 27-year-old Ismael Echeverria Montoya, 20-year-old Jose Omar Hernandez-Orellana, and 18-year-old Juan Carlos Santa Maria. . . .

These rapists are the “natural” constituency of the Republican Party, according to Dick Armey, who picked the wrong day to get on Michelle Malkin’s bad side. (Not that there is any right day to get on her bad side.)

Whenever an outrage like this Waldorf gang-rape highlights the issue of immigration and crime, the open-borders enthusiasts will claim that illegals don’t have higher crime rates than either native-born Americans or legal immigrants. This leads into a murky tangle of statistical analysis that is, however, utterly irrelevant.

It doesn’t matter whether the crime rates of illegals are higher or lower. People who aren’t here can’t commit crimes here. If there were zero illegal aliens, there would be zero crimes committed by illegal aliens.

Statistical differences between immigrants and natives on socio-economic variables like teen pregnancy, education and employment are often discussed as if immigrants were being substituted for natives, rather than being added to the existing population. Liberals (and not a few soft-headed conservatives) can’t seem to grasp the signficance of this distinction.

For example, every time a high-school dropout is added to the population via illegal immigration, it has the effect of lowering the overall education level of the population. If, as the immigration enthusiasts seem to believe, America has a shortage of high-school dropouts, why don’t we just encourage more American kids to quit school?

Instead, our society expends enormous sums to encourage American kids to stay in school, even as it imports hundreds of thousands of illegal aliens whose average educational level is substantially below the U.S. average. This would be a problem even if the illegals were Canadians or Australians, but is compounded by the fact that the vast majority of illegals are not fluent in English.

Merely to point out such facts — and facts are stubborn things, as John Adams said — is to incur the accusation of prejudice. Yet we are discussing a matter of national policy, and the immigration enthusiasts refuse to admit that there is any actual evidence that contradicts their open-borders arguments. Whenever such evidence is offered, the immigration enthusiasts just scream “bigot” and then blame their opponents for the incivility and irrationality of the debate.

No CBO Score For ObamaCare, But Here’s A Cunning Plan

by Smitty

Via Drudge (the only site faster than Insty), The Hill reports that the CBO couldn’t muster the pixie dust to polish the numbers into something that could pass muster, as if integrity, the Constitution, or common sense mattered fig #1 to this atrocious Congress.

My best suggestion is to make enough rounding errors with them big digits that they still appear to be in base 10 when converted to base 16, i.e., no A-F appearing. Dead giveaway, for that fraction of the population that takes any of this crap seriously.

Converting everything to hexadecimal affects an apparent shrinkage, perfectly appropriate for this game of rectal-pluck limbo.

We all know it’s pure hooey, anyway. Like the 72 hour bit (which could be made into 48 hours by a base 16 conversion, see?) I mean, really: what legitimate analysis can occur in that amount of time, should a flaw be discovered?

Anyway, don’t say I’m not trying to be a Helpy Helper-person in these complex, trying times.  If hex doesn’t work, all that’s left is unicorn math.  Go, go BHO!

Yid With Lid: Obama Fox News Transcript

by Smitty

Treat yourself to a taste of what journalism should have been. Trying to quote the most outrageous bit is futile. The Orwellian, purple DC haze machine belches early and builds to a fine fog by finish.
If we tolerate this form of government-by-swindle, think of what awaits. 5- and 10k-page bills. Government by fiat. Everyone legislated to like it. The braveness, the newness, the worldliness, the hope, the change.
Jim Moran, my VA-8 tool, already sports the beastly mark. Having it all come down to a dozen-ish Blue Dogs is less than appealing.

Update: CNSNews offers the play-by-play for how the Constitution gets Slaughtered, as the GOP has half an hour to make a final plea for sanity.

Update II: (Drudge) WaPo reports that the GOP is laying the foundation for a repeal effort, too.

Cheering For Idaho, Virginia, And Levin

by Smitty (via Drudge)

The folks hang their hats out west:

BOISE, Idaho — Idaho took the lead in a growing, nationwide fight against health care overhaul Wednesday when its governor became the first to sign a measure requiring the state attorney general to sue the federal government if residents are forced to buy health insurance.
Similar legislation is pending in 37 other states.

And my own state seems to have located fortitutde:

A spokesman for Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli II (R) said this afternoon that Virginia will file suit against the federal government if the Democratic health care reform bill is approved by the U.S. Congress.
Cuccinelli has long said he was examining the legal issues and suggested he would likely file suit. Brian Gottstein, a spokesman for the office, said this afternoon that a lawsuit is now a definite. Gottstein would provide no details of the legal rationale for such a suit, indicating the process is “still being worked out.”

Of course, Levin is in hot standby (via Insty).

For the Progressives, we’re fond of quoting Clan Cameron around here:

Chlanna Nan con Thigibh
A So’s Gheibh Sibh Feoil!

(Sons of dogs, come hither and get flesh!)

This sorry wishful thinking on the part of some that the popular discontent is transient, and we’ll all just learn to enjoy the collar over time will stand thoroughly repudiated.
What will be truly shocking for these nannyists is that the backlash over BHO is so severe as to trigger reform of previous nonsense like the Great(ly Indebted) Society and the New(ly Impoverishing) Deal.
My dream of seeing an unprecedented Article V cram-down from the States, while still so distant as to be impossible in the foreseeable future, becomes measurably closer.
The alternative is to see Congress become less recognizable. Its current trajectory has it becoming as feckless and symbolic as the Roman Senate (not to get too lost in the Roman comparison, mind you).
One expects to hear more news from the usual suspects, Texas and Montana, along these lines. God bless the efforts of these State legislators.

Why Did Barack Obama Decide to
Stir Up Trouble for Israel Now?

The New Republic:

Why Hamas’s “day of rage” over Jerusalem and the Palestinian Authority’s call to gather on the Temple Mount to “save” the Dome of the Rock from non-existent plans to build the Third Temple? Why the sudden outrage over rebuilding a synagogue, destroyed by the Jordanians in 1948, in the Old City’s Jewish Quarter, when dozens of synagogues and yeshivas have been built in the quarter without incident?
The answer lies not in Jerusalem but in Washington. By placing the issue of building in Jewish neighborhoods in East Jerusalem at the center of the peace process, President Obama has inadvertently challenged the Palestinians to do no less. . . .
The administration, according to a report in the Israeli newspaper Yedito Aharonot, is making an even more insidious accusation against Israel. During his visit, wrote Yediot Aharanot, Biden told Israeli leaders that their policies are endangering American lives in Afghanistan and Iraq. The report has been denied in the White House. Whether or not the remark was made, what is clear today in Jerusalem is that Obama’s recklessness is endangering Israeli–and Palestinian–lives. As I listen to police sirens outside my window, Obama’s political intifada against Netanyahu seems to be turning into a third intifada over Jerusalem.

Whatever the goals or advisability of Obama’s policy, I’m struck that he stirred up this mess at the very time that his health-care plan is approaching its final crisis on Capitol Hill. Was this an ill-timed blunder or a purposeful distraction?

UPDATE: Doug Brady at Conservatives for Palin:

Yesterday, Governor Palin took President Obama to task for his bizarre and dangerous demonization of one of American’s most important and loyal allies: Israel.

Doug rounds up the media reaction.

John Bolton comments on the crisis that Obama has provoked. Remember when it was believed that Obama would actually improve U.S. relations abroad? Yeah. So much for all that.

Generation Zero: The D.C. Premiere

Generation Zero, the new Citizens United documentary about the economic crisis had its D.C. premiere last night in Georgetown. The film, which was previously screened last month at the Nashville Tea Party convention and at CPAC, chronicles the real-estate bubble and the fiancial meltdown as a product of what Tobin Smith of Fox News calls “a failure of culture.” James Pinkerton has praised Generation Zero as “the most important movie of the year.”

At the post-premiere reception, author Neil Howe and writer/director Stephen K. Bannon discuss Generation Zero. Howe is one of the stars of the film, which incorporates themes from his book, The Fourth Turning. Howe was the first managing editor of The American Spectator, back in its early days as The Alternative at Indiana University.

Generation Zero cinematographer Matthew Taylor with Citizens United President David Bossie. When they rolled the credits at the end of the film, Taylor’s name was applauded — and with good reason, as the photographic quality was exceptional.

Cato Institute economist Dan Mitchell, who is featured in Generation Zero, with BigGovernment.com editor Michael Flynn.

David Bossie with Farron Salley of The Daily Caller, who filed this report about the film premiere:

Dave Bossie, producer of the film, said, “I’m always trying to create new movies. It really came to me that it wasn’t an issue of one person … it was really a generational issue.”
‘Generation Zero’ was screened at the Loews Theatre in Georgetown with about 350 people in attendence, according to New media manager, Diane Clohesy, New Media Manager for Citizens United.

Farron also filed this video feature about the premiere:

Farron is obviously working hard for The Daily Caller, but guess what? She’s not getting paid. It was not until I mentioned that Tucker Carlson got $3 million in start-up capital for his operation that Farron explained that she is an unpaid intern.

Dude, if she wanted to work for nothing, she could work for me. Continue reading Generation Zero: The D.C. Premiere →

Dennis Kucinich to Vote ‘Yes’ and Other Updates on Zombie Health Care Bill

Obama’s arm-twisting works wonders on the little leftist from Ohio:

“In the past week it’s become clear that the vote on the final bill will be very close,” Kucinich, who voted No last time because of the lack of the public option, said at a presser moments ago. He acknowleged that he’d be voting “not on the bill as I would like to see it, but as it is.”
“However, after careful discussions with President Obama, Speaker Pelosi” and others, Kucinich said, “I’ve decided to cast a vote in favor of the legislation.”

Ed Morrissey at Hot Air:

Obviously, having one former no vote swing to yes doesn’t mean Nancy Pelosi can pass the bill.  It does, however, create a sense of momentum.  Kucinich, as one of the most loony of the progressive caucus, provides cover for those progressives more connected to reality to follow suit and switch their votes to yes.

Campaign for Liberty accuses Kucinich of hypocrisy:

If Kucinich were really as principled as he believes himself to be, he would have cast a “no” vote on this legislation for precisely the same reasons he articulated on ‘Countdown’ last week.
Kucinich had a chance to prove that he “walks the walk” but instead let the intense pressure from the powers that be sway his opinion.

UPDATE: This just in — Dennis Kucinich’s wife is still hot. You got to give the guy credit for that, eh?

Meanwhile, CNN reports “no” votes from five other Democrats whose wives aren’t nearly as hot as Elizabeth Kucinich.

The Nose On Your Face dubs the Kucinich deal the “Klingon Kickback.”

“As Kucinich goes, so goes Uranus.”

UPDATE II: Michelle Malkin damns Kucinich with his own words:

“This bill represents a giveaway to the insurance industry,” Kucinich told MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell. “$70 billion a year, and no guarantees of any control over premiums, forcing people to buy private insurance…I’m sorry, I just don’t see that this bill is the solution.”

Kucinich: He was against the $70 billion giveaway to the insurance industry before he was for it! But don’t worry, nobody on the Left will hold Kucinich accountable. If they weren’t gullible sheep, they wouldn’t be on the Left in the first place.

UPDATE III: From Kucinich’s statement:

I believe health care is a civil right.

Yeah? Well, some people may believe a 6-foot-tall redheaded wife 30 years younger is a civil right, but do the math, Dennis: There’s just not enough to go around.

You can’t conjure up goods and services merely by proclaiming your belief that these things are a “civil right.” This is the basic problem with socialism: Eventually, you run out of other people’s money.

UPDATE IV: The American Spectator‘s health-care ace Philip Klein:

The media will make a lot of noise about this because Kucinich is the first “no” vote to publicly switch to “yes,” but we shouldn’t be surprised that a single-payer advocate would support a bill that’s such a major step toward government-run health care.
As I’ve said all along, the question is not whether, with this one piece of legislation, liberals achieve their dream of a government-run health care system. The important point is that it moves the United States in that direction.

One of the commenters notes that Michelle Obama has enlisted Mrs. Kucinich for her anti-obesity crusade:

Now that Michelle Obama has made curbing childhood obesity the rage, another effort with a similar wow factor is pressing the case for schools to provide healthful foods to replace the sugary and fatty products the first lady wants to send to the principal’s office.
To publicize a bill being dropped Thursday to push school cafeteria veggies, promoters are rolling out dishy actress Scarlett Johansson and redheaded activist Elizabeth Kucinich to talk up the bennies of “plant-based meals.”
“We’re trying to drive healthy eating,” says Kucinich, who’s married to Rep. Dennis Kucinich, the one-time Democratic presidential candidate. She represents the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which is whipping up support for Rep. George Miller’s Healthy School Meals Act of 2010. . . .
Their efforts run in parallel with the first lady’s antiobesity campaign, which comes at the issue from another direction. “We are absolutely working parallel, in tandem,” said Kucinich . . .

Just a coincidence, I’m sure . . .

UPDATE V: Byron York reports that the count is 209 “no,” 204 “yes” and 18 undecided, according to GOP sources. That means the undecideds have to break 2-to-1 “yes” in order to pass the bill. Hot Air says the whip count means Pelosi is in trouble.
