Buzzword Alert: ‘Neoliberalism’

Over the weekend, transgender activists sent out a hoax email falsely claiming that radical feminist Meghan Murphy had cancelled her scheduled Jan. 10 talk at the Vancouver Public Library. Some Canadian outlets were deceived by that email, didn’t bother checking with either Murphy or the library, and ran with the false story.

While I was at Ms. Murphy’s Feminist Current website checking that story, I noticed they had published an article by British academic Heather Brunskell-Evans entitled “A neoliberal concept of freedom has allowed gender identity ideology to take hold,” which begins thus:

Neoliberalism is the political philosophy (of the left and the right) that was developed in the West during the 1980s as populist “common-sense.” It has several problems:

1) It regards the individual as an autonomous agent, primarily motivated by self-interest;
2) It tells us the unregulated free-market economy alleviates social inequalities;
3) It describes personal freedom in terms of the individual’s ability to “choose” in a market place of choices.

What is wrong with this neoliberal, economistic view of the human being? It is reductive. As well as being individual agents, human beings are also located in psychological, social, and political contexts that render our autonomy and inter-relationship with others more complex than such an ideology allows.

Permit me to register my protest against this word, which was coined in the past 15 or 20 years by the progressive Left (the kind of people who take Noam Chomsky seriously) as analogous to “neoconservative.” The purpose of the word “neoliberal” is to discredit anyone on the Left who would compromise with the Right. People who use this word mean to say that if you are not an outright socialist, you are a “neoliberal.”

Professor Brunskell-Evans is British, as I say, and so her perspective on political ideology reflects British realities, which are structurally different than the American situation. Their Tories are not the same as our Republicans, nor is Labour the same as our Democrats, and Britain does not have America’s profusion of independent organizations (e.g., Heritage, AEI, Cato) influencing their political debate.

In particular, it’s worth noting, the British had nothing comparable to our Religious Right, which exercised such a powerful influence on the conservative movement from the 1970s onward. One might observe that Christian conservative influence in our political life has waned in the past decade, but you cannot disregard this as a source of difference between America and Britain politics. Our conservatives are more religious than their conservatives, and this matters in ways large and small. Now, let’s quote some of Professor Brunskell-Evans’s article:

The 1990s saw a fierce backlash against the radical feminist critique of patriarchy. Society, we were told, had reached a stage of “post feminism,” and we could all rest easy because the feminist movement’s demands had now been met. The Spice Girls became the epitome of young women’s newfound, individualized sexual empowerment. Feminism became a dirty word, conjuring up a spectre of miserable, sexually starved, repressed women who hated men. My students at Goldsmiths College (one of the first universities unequivocally committed to understanding sex and gender through the lens of Queer Theory, and now the proud UK hotbed of the latter), revealed an actual revulsion towards the “F word.” Any suggestion that the equality laws and the sexual freedoms from which they benefited were brought about by feminist activism and our refusal to be bound by sexist gender roles was met with disavowal. They confidently derided any suggestion that second wave feminists were sexual freedom fighters.
Transgender ideology is an outcome of the meteoric rise of Queer Theory which, contrary to the claims of trans activists, does not reject biological essentialism, but reifies it by simply reversing the order: It asserts that binary sex — being female or male — is socially “assigned,” not a biological fact; in contrast gender — an individual’s feeling of “femininity” or “masculinity” — is said to be pre-social, emerging from the inner being. This ideology has no human scientific basis and overrides simple facts.

Well, yes, ma’am, we agree that transgender ideology is nonsense, but your account of what happened to feminism reflects a view from inside academia, rather than what was happening in the real world, where feminism never possessed the sort of institutional authority it wields on university campuses. It is wrong to say there was “backlash” against feminism in the 1990s because, in the world outside academia, no one with any common sense ever doubted that feminists actually were (and still are) miserable repressed women who hate men. The form that feminism took during the 1990s, the marketing coup of “sex-positive feminism” as a message of “empowerment,” was best represented by Nina Burleigh’s comment on the Lewinsky scandal:

“I’d be happy to give [Bill Clinton] a blow job just to thank him for keeping abortion legal. I think American women should be lining up with their Presidential kneepads on to show their gratitude for keeping the theocracy off our backs.”

Nina Burleigh was not the only feminist who believed that the Clinton presidency, and the Democrat Party more generally, was the only thing preventing “the theocracy” from outlawing abortion. Feminism’s alignment with the Democrats was rooted in the idea that abortion is women’s most important right — the holy sacrament of the Church of Liberalism, as Ann Coulter remarked in her book Godless. And this fanatical delusion never could have taken hold were it not for the way the Supreme Court’s 1973 Roe v. Wade decision circumnavigated the political process to impose legalized abortion on the nation.

Let’s be clear about this: If abortion is not wrong, nothing is wrong.

There is no way one can endorse infanticide and then claim the authority to lecture others about moral rights and wrongs — and this has been the fundamental error of feminism. Whether or not abortion is legal, it is always wrong, and while the law may compel us to tolerate this evil, a free people can never be forced to endorse abortion or forbidden to criticize it.

Feminists have sought to stigmatize and silence their critics and now that the shoe is on the other foot, with transgender activists seeking to stigmatize and silence feminist, who has the moral authority to referee this internecine dispute among progressives?

“So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply . . .”
— Genesis 1:27-28 (KJV)

Feminists will not be able to defeat the transgender cult without the aid of Christians who believe that the categories male and female are the work of the Creator, who had a purpose in mind for His creation. Unless we have respect for the purpose of sexual differences (i.e., the “be fruitful and multiply” part of that formula), how are we to claim any moral high ground in such matters? If there is no God, and thus no purpose to our existence — if human life has no moral meaning or value, so that abortion is a “right” — who are we to deny transgender activists the authority to impose their own meanings, and to silence their critics?

Feminists now confront an existential crisis. If “Hailey Heartless” is a woman and “Zinnia Jones” is a woman, why can’t they assert their authority to define feminism in their own terms? If the definition of “woman” is now to be altered by political compulsion, then it becomes nearly impossible to speak of “women’s rights” in any meaningful way.

‘Male Feminist’ Kicks Catholic Woman

A man has been fired from his job at a Toronto hair salon after he delivered a roundhouse kick to a woman at a pro-life protest event:

On September 30th at 2:31 PM during Campaign Life Coalition’s peaceful demonstration, pro-life leader Marie-Claire Bissonnette, was roundhouse-kicked in the shoulder by an abortion proponent.
The Human Defense Initiative has identified the assailant as Jordan Hunt, a hairdresser in Toronto, Canada.
During the event, Hunt vandalized multiple pro-life signs. He then sought support and recognition for his handiwork from an abortion activist standing nearby, at which point Bissonette began filming the encounter.
Bissonette made it clear she was filming the protester and informed him he had just destroyed private property, at which point he became belligerent and began questioning Bissonette on her opinions of pregnancy due to rape. When she began to answer, the protester wound up and roundhouse kicked her, causing the phone to drop. In the background, cries for someone to call the police could be heard along with the protesters insistence he was aiming for the phone.

Hunt has a previous history of attacking pro-life activists. Ms. Biossonnette, who has filed charges with police, shares her experience:

Life Chain is an annual event which consists of thousands of pro-life women, men and children standing on over 200 street corners across Canada holding signs that read, “Abortion Hurts Women”, “Abortion Kills Children,” “Adoption, the Loving Option”, “Life, We Stand On Guard For Thee”, and “Pregnant and need help? Call (local pregnancy help centre phone number)”. This is an explicitly peaceful and silent protest. Participants are not allowed to begin conversations with passersby, nor are they allowed to display any aggressive behaviour at any point. No abortion victim photography is permitted.
My task for this year’s Life Chain, which took place on Sunday, 30 September, was to manage the corner of Bloor and Keele, to hand out signs, and to take a headcount. Seventy-six sign-holders were present on that corner from 2:00-3:00 pm. One pro-abortion woman, probably in her late twenties, stood amongst us holding a sign that read, “My body, my choice, my right”. She was the only counter-protester present throughout, and she peacefully shared the corner with the rest of us.
At around 2:30, I was assaulted.
A man in his late twenties to early thirties observed the demonstration and, taking out two markers, one red and one blue, he managed to deface two of our signs. After I warned people to shield their signs, he then proceeded to run up behind five of the participants (including a ten-year-old girl) and scribble with his markers on their backs, ruining their clothing.
After these acts of vandalism, he approached the pro-abortion demonstrator, evidently in order to seek her approval, which she appeared to deny him by discouraging his tactics. At this point I took out my cell phone and began to record him, telling him that what he did was destruction of private property and it was against the law. He asked me whether a sixteen-year-old girl who gets pregnant after being raped should keep her baby. I attempted to explain that her baby should be treated no differently than a three-year-old child who may have been conceived by rape.

You can read the whole thing.

Did you notice the satanic pentagram on his necklace? Yeah.

Democrats Nominate Pro-Abortion Lesbian Feminist for Congress in Texas

Yesterday, I explained that Democrats have nominated an anti-white hate-monger to challenge Republican Pete Sessions in Texas’s 32nd Congressional District. Today, I’m highlighting another extremist Democrat in Texas, Gina Ortiz Jones, who finished first in a five-way primary, with 42% of the vote and then defeated Rick Trevino in the May runoff, to challenge Republican Rep. Will Hurd in the 23rd District.

This is one of the most competitive districts in the country, and has changed hands five times between Republicans and Democrats in the past 25 years. Hurd, a former CIA officer and the only black Republican member of Congress from Texas, won the seat in 2014 with only a 2,500-vote margin over the Democrat incumbent, and was re-elected in 2016 with a margin of only 3,000 votes. In a mid-term where Democrats are energized by anti-Trump mania, Hurd faces a tough fight, and Democrats have poured more than $1 million into the Jones campaign.

Fortunately for Republicans, however, Jones is way out of step with the values of this largely rural district, which stretches all the way from the suburbs of San Antonio in the east to El Paso in the west. The district is 55% Hispanic, and Jones has made a point of using her mother’s maiden name, with the slogan “One of Us, Fighting For Us” in her campaign.

Except she’s not Hispanic. Her mother immigrated from the Philippines and her father (who never married her mother) was a white drug addict.  While she’s using “Ortiz” to play the identity-politics game with Texas voters, however, she’s using a lesbian-feminist message to solicit support nationally from Trump-haters, promising to become the “first Filipina-American and first out-lesbian to represent Texas in Congress, and she’ll be the first woman to represent her district.“ She has been endorsed by all the usual suspects of left-wing extremism, including pro-abortion groups like Planned Parenthood and Emily’s List, pro-homosexual groups like Equality PAC, Human Rights Campaign and the LGBT Victory Fund, and the anti-Israel JStreetPAC, as well as the Feminist Majority, People for the American Way and the AFL-CIO. Her agenda includes socialized medicine, taxpayer funding for abortion, gun control, amnesty for illegal aliens, and every other issue you might expect from someone who attended elite Boston University.

Even without all her other baggage, her support for abortion might be enough to defeat Jones. When I say this district is 55% Hispanic, some Republicans might roll their eyes and write it off as a lost cause, but Texas isn’t Brooklyn or L.A.. Most of these “Texicans” are solid, hard-working folks who drive pickup trucks and love Jesus and BBQ. They won’t automatically embrace a half-Asian lesbian feminist with a radical agenda just because her middle name is “Ortiz.”

RE-ELECT REPUBLICAN WILL HURD

You can do your part to defend this Texas district, and help keep Democrats from taking over Congress, raising taxes and ramming their extremist agenda down our throats. If you live in Texas, or have friends or relatives that live there, please reach out to them on Facebook and warn them about these radical Democrats like Gina Ortiz Jones.

No, America, @JessicaValenti Doesn’t Want to Help Your Sons, She Hates Them

It is difficult to exaggerate the evil of Jessica Valenti. Her “feminism” is, on the one hand, mostly partisan cheerleading for Democrats and, on the other hand, an excuse for her own destructive anti-social tendencies. Her recent memoir, Sex Object, is a “vengeful diatribe against heterosexual men,” including her own husband, Andrew Golis.

“Every time I see a dirty cup on the kitchen counter, my face gets red. The level of disrespect feels . . . as if Andrew has hopped on the counter, pulled down his pants, and taken a shit there for me to clean up. My husband is lovely. He is a feminist. . . .
“Our default mood is low-level annoyance toward each other with a propensity to turn into full-blown rage at the smallest thing. . . .
“I feel like I might hate him and I suspect he feels the same.”

— Jessica Valenti, 2016

One might pity Mr. Golis, except for the fact that he’s a Harvard-educated elitist who works for the left-wing anti-American site Vox, so he deserves whatever misery his feminist wife inflicts on him.

Considering her hatred of men, and that her chief interest in children is celebrating abortion — killing babies before they are born — do Americans want Ms. Valenti’s advice on how to raise our sons?

Whether it’s misogynist terrorism, the rash of young men feeling sexually entitled to women or the persistent stereotype of “real men” as powerful and violent, it’s never been clearer that American boys are in desperate need of intervention. . . .
Feminist ideas can help men — be it the rejection of expectations that men be strong and stoic or ending the silence around male victims of sexual violence. But boys also need the same kind of culture we created for girls. . . .

You can read the rest of that worthless screed, which includes a dishonest attack on Professor Jordan Peterson. Consider the alternative to raising boys to be “strong and stoic.” Ms. Valenti seems to imagine that what America needs is more weak and whiny men (like her husband).

Having raised four sons — two of whom are already married with children of their own — I don’t need any advice from Ms. Valenti. If she wanted to have sons, maybe she shouldn’t have had two abortions, but as it is, she should stop telling the rest of us how to raise our sons.

Jessica Valenti is dishonest in pretending she wants to “help” boys. She hates your sons. She wants them to be as miserable as she is. Her ideas about “intervention” — a “feminist culture for boys” — are simply about teaching boys to cooperate in their own destruction.

How to Argue With a Feminist
Rule One: Never argue with a feminist.
This is the only rule you need. There is no point trying to persuade a feminist that she’s wrong. If she were intellectually honest (and thus capable of admitting error) she would not be a feminist.
Because feminists never argue in good faith, nothing is to be gained by engaging in a back-and-forth discussion with them. . . .
Feminists are essentially sociopaths. The feminist’s characteristic traits are selfishness, dishonesty, and cruelty. She lacks the capacity for empathy, she will tell any lie which suits her purpose, and the raison d’être of her career is to inflict the maximum damage on males.

By the way, tonight at 7 p.m. ET, I’ll be hosting The Other Podcast with John Hoge, and we might discuss this among other timely topics.

Feminism and the Darwinian Dead End

“I don’t want a baby. . . . Nothing will make me want a baby. . . .This is why, if my birth control fails, I am totally having an abortion.”
— Amanda Marcotte, March 14, 2014

“The United States is in the midst of what some worry is a baby crisis. The number of women giving birth has been declining for years and just hit a historic low. If the trend continues . . . the country could face economic and cultural turmoil.”
— Washington Post, June 30, 2017

What happens to people who embrace the Culture of Death? It should be obvious that feminism’s hatred of motherhood — the anti-maternal bias that expresses itself as a celebration of “choice” — must ultimately lead all those who embrace this ideology down the road toward extinction.

Even before I began the Sex Trouble project four years ago, this was already apparent to me, as it must be to any intelligent person who takes time to seriously examine contemporary cultural trends:

Low birth rates lead to economic stagnation and other social and political problems, which pro-life activists have been warning about for years. . . .
For the past half-century, our elite culture has been dominated by the neo-Malthusian “overpopulation” myth popularized by Paul Ehrlich, a myth fostered by a eugenics cabal led by David Rockefeller (see Donald Critchlow, Intended Consequences: Birth Control, Abortion, and the Federal Government in Modern America, 2001). Progressive feminists like Amanda Marcotte refuse to acknowledge that their “pro-choice” ideology wasn’t developed with an eye toward the rights of women, but instead originated with a racist billionaire who was worried that poor brown people were having too many babies.

In a free society, people can have as many babies as they want, and if Amanda Marcotte doesn’t want to have any babies at all, far be it from me to try to change her mind. Would anyone want to place a helpless infant in the care of a soulless atheist monster like Amanda Marcotte?

The real problem arises, however, when feminism’s cultural influence encourages other women to believe that they can embrace this warped belief system without any negative consequences. Half a century since the start of the modern feminist movement, the secondary and tertiary effects of this destructive ideology are scattered about our society, like the fragmented artifacts of ancient Rome overrun by barbarians. Young women today, born in the 1980s or ’90s, have little if any knowledge of the world their grandparents grew up in, which was blasted out of existence by the radical upheavals of the 1960s. Many problems now affecting young women are, in fact, a direct result of feminism’s “success” in destroying the moral infrastructure of our society, and yet they are told that the solution to their problems is — of course — more feminism.

What we are witnessing in the 21st century are the late-stage effects of cultural decadence, where children raised in chaotic environments — with divorced or never-married parents, no religious influence, surrounded by drug abuse and other social pathologies — grow up to become dysfunctional adults who exercise toxic influence in the lives of others. Institutional commitments to “inclusion” and “diversity” make it difficult to avoid these dysfunctional people, and we are forced to tolerate deviant behavior in our midst. Whether it’s riots on university campuses, drug addicts encamped on the streets or deranged lunatics threatening violence against us, citizens are expected to adapt to the increasing prevalence of antisocial behaviors, which become normalized.

“Oh, look — it’s a gender-fluid bisexual seventh-grader leading a gay-pride parade through the streets of the state capital!”

“Oh, look — a state university faculty member tortured to death by a gay Hollywood executive in a basement BDSM dungeon!”

“Oh, look — an Ivy League student arrested for child pornography!”

These tip-of-the-iceberg occasions — when unquestionably weird behavior makes headlines — are becoming so frequent we might not even notice, because we may be too busy dealing with the larger submerged mass of this iceberg of weirdness as it affects our own lives. A friend, a neighbor, a co-worker or a relative might go off the rails, requiring us to cope with the collateral damage of their antisocial behavior.

The cultural elite consider themselves our moral and intellectual superiors, and if you ask for actual evidence of their presumed superiority — something other than their diplomas from prestigious universities — you’ll find they have nothing to offer. They want to tell you how to live, and what your opinions should be, but beyond their academic credentials (and their careers in positions of cultural influence, for which such credentials are a prerequisite) there is no real evidence they are qualified to exercise the authority they claim. What makes Amanda Marcotte qualified to speak as the Official Arbiter of Correct Womanhood? Nothing, except that she is a feminist, and therefore her authority cannot be questioned. Disagreeing with her makes you an Enemy of Women.

If you consider yourself superior to others, and you want to make the world a better place, shouldn’t you have lots of children? One might suppose that, as an atheist proponent of Darwinism, Amanda Marcotte would subscribe to a survival-of-the-fittest mentality, wherein reproductive success is considered proof of superiority. From a Darwinian perspective, shouldn’t Marcotte’s superiority make her more desirable as a mate? And wouldn’t her offspring, inheriting her superior traits, be a beneficial influence to the future of humanity? Continue reading Feminism and the Darwinian Dead End →

Another Reason to Avoid Massachusetts

Nobody wants to live in Massachusetts. which has the lowest total fertility rates (1.54 average lifetime births per woman) in the United States. The total fertility rate in Tennessee is 1.82, almost 20% higher than Massachusetts. This has political consequences, as Massachusetts has watched its number of seats in the U.S. House of Representatives decline significantly in the past several decades. When John Kennedy was elected President in 1960, Massachusetts was the 10th most populous U.S. state, and had 14 seats in the House. Today, Massachusetts is the 14th most populous state and has only nine seats in the House, the same as Tennessee, which ranks 17th in population. Because the Massachusetts delegation is all-Democrat, the feeble birth rate in the state is a factor in the declining fortunes of the Democrat Party. Massachusetts is aborting itself into political irrelevance, but doesn’t seem to understand this.

They have superior institutions of higher learning in Massachusetts, such as Northeastern University, a private school where the annual cost of attendance is $65,737 including room and board. What are parents paying so much for their children to learn at Northeeastern? Well, they have a department of Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies, which offers such courses as “Gender, Social Justice, and Transnational Activism” (WMNS 3100) and “Sexual Orientation and Gender Expression in Practice and Policy” (WMNS 2800). Among the top-notch feminist scholars at Northeastern is Professor Suzanna Danuta Walters.

Dr. Suzanna Danuta Walters’ work centers on questions of gender, feminist theory and politics, sexuality, and popular culture and she is a frequent commentator on these issues for the media. Her most recent book, The Tolerance Trap: How God, Genes, and Good Intentions are Sabotaging Gay Equality (NYU Press), explores how notions of tolerance limit the possibilities for real liberation and deep social belonging. This book has been the subject of numerous radio and press interviews and discussions . . . Walters’ previous book, All the Rage: The Story of Gay Visibility in America (University of Chicago Press, 2001), examined the explosion of gay visibility in culture and politics over the past 15 years and raised pressing questions concerning the politics of visibility around sexual identity. The book was a finalist for several literary awards (including the Lambda Literary Award). Her other works include books on feminist cultural theory (Material Girls: Making Sense of Feminist Cultural Theory), mothers and daughters in popular culture (Lives Together/Worlds Apart: Mothers and Daughters in Popular Culture) and numerous articles and book chapters on feminist theory, queer theory and LGBT studies, and popular culture. She is currently working on a book examining the state of both feminist theory and politics in an era of “call-out feminism” and intense social media attention.

Professor Walters will teach your kids about “gender, feminist theory and politics, sexuality, and popular culture,” for $65,737 a year. However, you can read the work of Professor Walters for free:

Why can’t we hate men?

That’s the headline on a column that Professor Walters wrote for the Washington Post. Permit me to quote her concluding paragraph:

So men, if you really are #WithUs and would like us to not hate you for all the millennia of woe you have produced and benefited from, start with this: Lean out so we can actually just stand up without being beaten down. Pledge to vote for feminist women only. Don’t run for office. Don’t be in charge of anything. Step away from the power. We got this. And please know that your crocodile tears won’t be wiped away by us anymore. We have every right to hate you. You have done us wrong. #BecausePatriarchy. It is long past time to play hard for Team Feminism. And win.

This inspired me to look around my home office here in the basement and ask: Where are the benefits of “all the millennia of woe” I’ve produced? Where is this power I should “step away from”? Certainly, I can’t afford $65,737 a year to send my kid to Northeastern University, and it’s unlikely that the Washington Post would ever publish anything I wrote about “gender, feminist theory and politics, sexuality, and popular culture.” On the other hand, I would never want my byline to appear in that thoroughly dishonest newspaper, nor would I want my children to go anywhere near Northeastern University.

Professor Walters is a liar. Northeastern University, like the Washington Post, is an institution devoted to satanic wickedness. No honest person would be associated with such manifestations of evil, and Feminism Is a Totalitarian Movement to Destroy Civilization as We Know It.

There are many reasons to avoid Massachusetts. Now you have one more.

Feminism’s African Abortion Agenda

If any white man were to say, “Women in Nigeria are having too many babies,” he could expect to be accused of racism. On the other hand, if you were to express concern that the high fertility rate in Nigeria (5.5 lifetime births per woman) is a major obstacle to “sustainable development,” you could expect to be called an expert:

Health watchers say although Nigeria has made bold efforts to achieve rapid economic development over the past four decades, among other factors, rapid population growth has affected the quality of life and made achievement of socio-economic development goals difficult.
While launching the roadmap on harnessing demographic dividend in the youth population, the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, expressed worry about the Nigeria’s fertility rate, saying with the youthful age structure of about half of the population under 35 years, the implication of such demographic realities for the country’s development may have consequences too grave to be ignored.
Experts estimate that the window of opportunity for demographic dividend occurs when the age of the young population and the older population is between 26 and 41 years.
Findings show that countries with higher fertility rate are unlikely to achieve desired levels of development across multiple sectors. But with a change in maturing age structure opens a window of opportunity across four sectors — health, education, economic and political.
In a research carried out by Dr Richard Cincotta, a political demographer associated with Stimson Center and Wilson Center in Washington DC on how Age Structure Change Can Benefit Development with statistical analysis using data from over 100 countries for a period of over four decades, it was found that countries with very youthful populations almost never attain high thresholds of development. Nigeria falls among these countries.
The research specifically found that Nigeria has only 1 percent chance of achieving the Sustainable Development Goal, SDG, target of reducing under-5 mortality to less than 25 deaths per 1,000 live births.
But experts say if the country invests more in reproductive health particularly family planning in areas with poor health indicators, then fertility levels may begin to decline more significantly, and children will be more likely to achieve better basic levels of health.

Far be it from me, of course, to tell Nigerian women that they are having too many babies, but this is just what “experts” are saying with their talk about the need for “family planning” in order to reduce Nigeria’s fertility rate to meet the “Sustainable Development Goal,” and warning of “consequences too grave to be ignored” unless this goal is achieved.

It so happens that my wife and I have six children, so that our personal fertility rate is even higher than Nigeria’s. If any expert tried to lecture me that our children are an obstacle to his “Sustainable Development Goal,” I’d tell him to go to hell and to take his goal with him.

Ah, but these cunning Malthusian “experts” have recruited feminists to assist them in their crypto-racist “family planning” projects.

You see, it’s about women’s rights and reproductive health:

Melinda Gates announced [in July 2017] at The Global Family Planning Summit in London, that the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will increase its funding for family planning by 60%, providing an extra $375 [million] over the next four years. About $250 [million] of this money will be used to fund services for teenagers.
Her move is a welcome initiative following President Donald Trump’s reinstatement earlier this year of the ‘the global gag rule’ which prohibits U.S. funding to international NGOs if they advise on or provide abortion services as part of their wider family planning and contraception services. In May this year, Trump also decided not allocate any funding for international family planning in his proposed budget.
At the summit in London, Gates spoke openly of the recent moves by the US: ‘This is a difficult political climate for family planning,’ she said. ‘I’m deeply troubled, as I’m sure you are, by the Trump administration’s proposed budget cuts.’ . . .
[C]utting these funds will leave a huge hole in the money available. In real terms this means less money to fund family planning services that give women control over when and if they have children. It means huge cuts to basic contraception services for over-populated communities across the world who cannot afford larger families, a lack of abortion services for rape victims of war and abuse, and more women than ever dropping out of education to look after children. . . .
[T]he Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is joining forces with the UK’s Department for International Development, and the UN Population Fund to provide modern, voluntary family planning to women in the world’s poorest countries across Africa and Asia. The UK has pledged to provide an average of £225 million per year until 2022.

Billionaires (and their wives) believe women in Nigeria (and other of “the world’s poorest countries across Africa and Asia”) are having too many babies. If they can’t get “family planning” money from American taxpayers, they’ll just throw another $375 million at it. Never mind, of course, what that kind of money might accomplish if it were spent to help poor Americans in, say, Baltimore, Detroit, Chicago or St. Louis.

No, no — “We must stop those Nigerians from having so many babies,” is the essence of Mrs. Gates’s thinking. She is “deeply troubled” about the babies who won’t get aborted because of President Trump’s policies. Population-control fanatics like Mrs. Gates think of themselves as humanitarian philanthropists, even though the policies they advocate would more accurately be described as anti-human and misanthropic.

P.J. O’Rourke once described the mentality of the “overpopulation” crisis types as “Way Too Many of You, Just Enough of Me”:

Going around the poor parts of the world shoving birth-control pills down people’s throats, hustling them into abortion clinics, and giving them prizes for getting sterilized is to assume that those people don’t want babies as much as we do, that they won’t like those babies as well as we like ours, and that little brown and yellow babies aren’t as good as the adorable, pink rich kind. . . .
Fretting about over-population is a perfectly guilt-free — indeed, sanctimonious — way for “progressives” to be racists.

Defenders of the “Global Family Planning” agenda would, no doubt, claim that they are only trying to improve the lives of Africans by spending money to make sure there are fewer African lives to improve: “Abort your babies, because the experts say it’s good for you!”

You’ll excuse my skepticism toward Mrs. Gates’ allegedly feminist concern for the “reproductive health” of African women, but I’m a white man, and if I endorsed this agenda, I might be accused of racism.

Mexican Criminal Pro-Abortion Activist Detained by ICE, May Be Deported

Hey, are you guys getting tired of all this #Winning yet?

An abortion activist with a history of breaking the law could be deported after she was detained Wednesday by immigration officials.
Alejandra Pablos, 32, is an abortion and immigration activist who works for the National Latina Institute for Reproductive Health, Rewire reports. She also works with We Testify, a pro-abortion group that encourages women to publicly share how they benefited from aborting their unborn babies.
On Wednesday, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) detained Pablos in Arizona, potentially due to her criminal record, Phoenix New Times reports.
Pablos is a green card holder and was a legal permanent resident from Mexico; however, because she repeatedly has been convicted of criminal charges, her immigration status now is in jeopardy, according to the report.
Her convictions include two DUIs and other minor convictions, and she was arrested for allegations of trespassing and obstruction of justice in January, the report states. She spent some time in prison for the offenses, and her criminal record goes back to 2006, according to the report.
Rewire reports she lost her permanent resident status two years ago after a drug-related arrest.
