The ‘Gun Lobby,’ ‘Assault Weapons,’ ‘Common Sense Gun Laws’ and Other Things Joe Biden Keeps Lying About

There are millions — literally millions — of AR-15-type rifles legally owned by law-abiding American citizens who have never shot another human being. The fact that Salvador Ramos owned two of them cannot be interpreted as signifying that everybody who owns an AR-15 is a menace to society, because if you want to engage in irresponsible generalization like that, I could think of some other generalizations relevant to violent crime that no sensible politician would dare invoke.

Biden’s rhetoric is dishonest, not only in its details, but in the larger sense of the false implication that it is a “lobby” or an “industry” that he desires to crush with regulations — no, it’s gun owners he’s after.

Those of us old enough to remember the dishonesty by which Democrats rammed the 1994 “assault weapons ban” through Congress know all of this. There was no actual crisis that demanded such onerous regulations which, in point of fact, did not “ban” any weapons (i.e., those guns that were already owned remained legal, but importation and domestic retail sales were prohibited), and made purely aesthetic distinctions between “banned” weapons and others that were functionally identical. By the way, these were semi-automatic rifles, not “assault weapons,” which are fully automatic, commonly referred to as “machine guns.”

Speaking of functionally identical weapons, the most common weapon used in homicides (including what are called “mass shootings”) are semi-automatic pistols, of which at least 5 million are sold annually. Last year alone, Americans bought more than 18 million guns of all types, and about 30% of those were first-time buyers alarmed by the startling rise in violent crime (a problem that Joe Biden and the Democrats aren’t doing anything to solve). Did you know, by the way, that more than half of firearms-related deaths are suicides? No, you didn’t know that, because the media isn’t going to tell you. How many homicides are committed with rifles? About 3%, according to the Department of Justice. So banning AR-15s wouldn’t make a meaningful dent in the overall violent crime problem, a fact that Joe Biden and the media won’t mention in the wake of an atrocity like Uvalde (or the Buffalo shooting) because this is all about ginning up fear among the so-called “soccer moms.”

A semi-automatic weapon is a semi-automatic weapon. I got my first one, a Winchester .22 rifle, for Christmas when I was 12 years old. Never killed anything other than maybe a couple of squirrels or birds. Fear-mongering nonsense about “assault weapons” from liberal politicians doesn’t do anything except confuse ignorant people (i.e., Democratic voters) who can’t be bothered to educate themselves about the actual facts of crime. If you get carjacked, chances are the perp is going to be wielding a semiautomatic 9-mm or .40-caliber pistol which is (a) a good bit cheaper than an AR-15 and (b) easier to conceal and use at short range. Rifles aren’t much use in a common robbery, because you can’t just hide a rifle in your pocket. Cops might notice somebody walking down the street with a rifle, even in the worst parts of Philadelphia, and as stupid as the criminals in Philly are, they aren’t that stupid.

What are the so-called “common sense gun laws” that Biden and other Democrats keep talking about? Jim Geraghty at National Review has gone through some of this stuff, pointing out for example why the demand for “tougher background checks” has nothing to do with what happened at Uvalde:

As far as we know, as of this writing, the Uvalde shooter had no criminal record. No one in law enforcement, his family, or his school ever filed a petition seeking to remove firearms from his possession because he posed a potential threat to himself or others. As far as we know, no one ever filed a restraining order against him. The shooter purchased his firearms legally.
In the coming days and weeks, you will hear a lot more calls for “tougher background checks,” but because there was no paper trail indicating that the Uvalde shooter was a threat, it is hard to see what kind of “background check” would have prevented this legal adult from purchasing a firearm. Federally licensed firearms dealers are not going to comb through the Instagram and social-media accounts of potential buyers.

Over and over again, in the wake of such incidents, Democrats will reach into their Gigantic Bag of Dishonest Bullshit (which they keep handy for such occasions) and start advocating measures which would not have prevented the incident that gave rise to the demand for “action.”

We must “do something,” Democrats demand, ignoring the fundamental problem that (a) criminals don’t obey laws, (b) Democrats are against putting criminals in jail anyway, (c) Americans own millions of guns and (d) many crimes are committed with stolen guns. So even if you passed some kind of “ban” on sales of AR-15s, this wouldn’t do anything about the millions of AR-15s already owned by Americans, besides which criminals prefer to use pistols, and even if they did want to use a rifle, all they’d have to do is steal one. And because they’re criminals, stealing is what they do anyway. One of the rhetorical tricks Democrats like to use is to say “we need to keep guns out of the hands of the wrong people,” but for some reason, they keep letting “the wrong people” out of jail.

The mass shooting in Chicago last week was allegedly committed by a felon who got turned loose on a weapons charge and had been wanted on an outstanding warrant for six months. Let me give you a hint about the suspect’s identity: Probably not a Trump voter, IYKWIMAITYD.

There were about 20,000 homicides in the U.S. last year. Guess how many died of drug overdoses? More than 100,000, mostly from opioids like fentanyl. What is the Biden administration doing about the fentanyl problem? Are they locking up drug dealers? Closing down the U.S.-Mexico border? No, they’re turning a blind eye to the drug problem because the drug dealers — well, they’re probably not Trump voters, IYKWIMAITYD — and Democrats are totally in favor of chaos on the border, because they count every illegal immigrant as a future Democratic voter. What’s the point of having laws, if you’re not going to enforce the laws? Democrats are the anti-law enforcement party, and yet they demand that we pass new laws, even while they’re turning loose criminals who break the laws we’ve already got.

What kind of fool would believe a word Joe Biden says about guns? Probably the same kind of fools who voted for him — 81 million votes!




 

Deranged Lunatic Who Loudly Disrupted Public Meeting in Texas Turns Out to Be Fringe Candidate for Governor

Maybe you’ve heard of this guy, who has a habit of losing elections:

Texas gubernatorial hopeful Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke (D) took the opportunity to inject himself during Governor Greg Abbott’s Wednesday press conference covering the Robb Elementary mass shooting in Uvalde.
Beto appears to wait until the governor’s remarks are complete before he stands in front of the stage to interrupt Lt. Governor Dan Patrick’s presentation. Patrick attempts to shut down the Democratic Party candidate for Governor, saying, “Excuse me, you’re out of line and an embarrassment.”
O’Rourke continued to talk over the Lt. Governor to address Governor Abbott. “You’re doing nothing,” the failed presidential and senatorial candidate said.
Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin was most vocal in trying to shout down the interruption. Texas Senator Ted Cruz can also be heard trying to hush Beto.
“He needs to get his ass out of here,” the Uvalde mayor said regarding the disruptive candidate. “Sir, you’re out of line! Sir, you’re out of line! Please leave this auditorium.”
“I can’t believe… you’re a sick son of a bitch,” the mayor continued, “that would come to an event like this to make political issues.”
Law enforcement officers surrounded O’Rourke and attempted to move him out of the arena. O’Rourke stopped again and attempted to address the governor.
“It’s on you,” O’Rourke said pointing at Abbott. McLaughlin responded, “It’s on assholes like you. Why don’t you get out of here?”
Police finally escorted O’Rourke from the room where he carried out an impromptu press conference.
The twice-failed candidate received the Democratic Party of Texas’ nomination to face off against Governor Abbott in the 2022 General Election in November. He has a long history of contradicting his positions on the 2nd Amendment and gun control.
During a Democratic Party presidential candidate debate in September 2019, O’Rourke responded to a question about his support of gun confiscation. “Hell yes, we’re going to take your AR-15, your AK-47,” the candidate stated. A few days later, he backtracked and told CNN he would not confiscate hunting rifles. When then-CNN show host Chris Cuomo asked O’Rourke, “Are you, in fact, in favor of gun confiscations?” The candidate replied, “Yes” and then added, “But when it comes to firearms used for hunting or self-defense the answer is ‘no.’ And I don’t want you or anyone else to get into the fear mongering, that some have fallen prey to, saying that the government is going to come and take all your guns.”

November is probably going to be one of the worst beatings the Democrats have ever experienced, and O’Rourke — who couldn’t win a statewide race in Texas even in the high-tide year of 2018 — is going to get smashed flatter than an armadillo trying to cross I-10 in rush hour.




 

Democrats in Midterm Meltdown as DCCC Chairman Makes ‘Racist’ District Move

Let’s face it, this was never going to be a good year to be in charge of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee. The D-Triple-C has its occasional good years (e.g., 2006 and 2018), but this year is not going to be one of those years. When Democrats captured control of the House in 2018, they had a net gain of 41 seats to take a 235-seat majority versus 199 for the GOP. This was a fairly narrow majority — a net loss of 18 Democratic seats would put Republicans back in charge. And then in 2020, with “Landslide Joe” Biden at the top of the ticket, Nancy Pelosi’s majority suffered a net loss of 13 seats (down to 222) so that Kevin McCarthy’s GOP is now just five seats away from recapturing the Speaker’s gavel. The Biden disaster (his approval rating just hit a record low) means that Democrats are almost certainly doomed in November, so DCCC Chairman Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney was already piloting a kamikaze flight when he got hit with even more bad news closer to home.

Because New York’s population is stagnating, the state is losing representation after the 2020 Census, going from 27 House seats to 26. (Since the 1990 Census, New York has lost eight House seats.) There was a battle over the redistricting map, and a judge threw out a map drawn by the Democrat-controlled state legislature that likely would have given Democrats 22 seats. This map was an atrocious gerrymander (what the legislature did for Jerry Nadler’s district could be considered a human rights violation) and so the judge appointed a special master to create a new map that will probably result in current Democratic members of the House fighting each other in an election game of musical chairs.

But then the DCCC boss stepped on a “racist” land mine:

Democrat Campaign Chair Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-NY) has received calls to resign his position and accusations of racism over “egregious political malpractice” for announcing a run against a fellow Democrat incumbent in the Empire State after a draft map of new congressional lines was revealed.
Maloney, on Monday, without giving Rep. Mondaire Jones (D-NY) notice of any announcement, said he would run in his colleague’s New York Seventeenth Congressional District instead of his own Eighteenth Congressional District.
“While the process to draw these maps without the legislature is against the will of voters, if the newly-announced maps are finalized, I will run in New York’s 17th Congressional District,” Maloney said via Twitter. “NY-17 includes my home and many of the Hudson Valley communities I currently represent.”
Shortly thereafter, Jones told Punchbowl News that “Maloney did not even give me a heads up before he went on Twitter to make that announcement. And I think that tells you everything you need know about Sean Patrick Maloney.”
However, the redistricting debacle process in New York worsened for Maloney after prominent self-proclaimed socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) called for him to resign from his post as Democrat Campaign Chair if he ends up officially running against his fellow New York Democrat in the primary.
“He’s the chair of the DCCC. It’s his responsibility to make sure Democrats stay in the majority,” said Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY), another far-left lawmaker from the Empire State in the neighboring Sixteenth Congressional District. “To not run in 18th is to directly impact our ability to maintain the majority… “You’ve got one job to do and you’re literally not doing that job.”
Rep. Ritchie Torres (D-NY) said it is “Outrageous” for Maloney to run in the district currently represented by Jones and accused the Democrat Campaign Chair of racism after his announcement to run in a different district.
“The thinly veiled racism here is profoundly disappointing,” Torres tweeted. “A black man is ideologically ill suited to represent a Westchester County District that he represents presently and won decisively in 2020? Outrageous.”
MSNBC host Chris Hayes hammered the Democrat congressman, accusing him of “egregious political malpractice.”
“We have seen action from one member of Congress that I have to say is among the most egregious political malpractice I think I’ve ever seen in my life,” Hayes said. He noted that Maloney is supposed to be in charge of keeping the Democrat majority in the House and is already a member of Congress.
“Rather than putting his money where his mouth is and running in the slightly harder district, Sean Patrick Maloney is abandoning it,” Hayes continued. “Maybe Sean Patrick Maloney will be embarrassed by the fact he looks like he doesn’t have the courage of his own convictions. He could decide to remain in the 18th district and hold the seat for the Democrats.”

Fortunately for Maloney, after a four-day brouhaha, the judge released a final version of New York’s district map with a few adjustments:

A state court formally approved New York’s new congressional map late Friday, ratifying a slate of House districts drawn by a neutral expert that could pave the way for Democratic losses this fall and force some of the party’s most prominent incumbents to face off in primary matches.
The map, approved just before a midnight deadline set by Justice Patrick F. McAllister of State Supreme Court in Steuben County, effectively unwinds an attempted Democratic gerrymander, creates a raft of new swing seats across the state, and scrambles some carefully laid lines that have long determined centers of power in New York City.
Jonathan R. Cervas, the court-appointed mapmaker, made relatively minor changes to a draft proposal released earlier this week whose sweeping changes briefly united both Republicans and Democrats in exasperation and turned Democrats against each other.
In Manhattan, the final map would still merge the seats of Representatives Carolyn Maloney and Jerrold Nadler, setting the two Democratic committee leaders, who have served alongside each other for 30 years, onto an increasingly inevitable collision course.
Another awkward Democratic primary loomed up the Hudson in Westchester County, where two Black Democratic House members were drawn into a single district.
But the worst outcome for Democrats appeared to be averted early Saturday morning when one of the incumbents, Representative Mondaire Jones, said he would forego re-election in his Westchester seat. He said he would run instead in a newly reconfigured 10th Congressional District in Lower Manhattan and Brooklyn, a race that has already drawn the candidacy of Bill de Blasio, the former New York City mayor, but which no other sitting House member is expected to enter. . . .
Mr. Nadler and Ms. Maloney have both declared their intentions to run in the newly created 12th Congressional District, which comprises central Manhattan. . . .
Just to the south, a growing number of candidates have declared their interest in running for a newly reconfigured 10th District, which encompasses all of Lower Manhattan and a large swath of Brooklyn, including Park Slope and Borough Park.
Mr. de Blasio declared his candidacy on Friday before the lines were finalized. Hours later, Mr. Jones surprised Democrats by announcing that he would follow suit, despite having minimal ties to the district. . . .
Representative Nydia Velazquez lives within the new district lines, but she has previously said she intends to run this year in the nearby Seventh District.
Mr. Jones’s decision will help avert another tense intraparty showdown in the Lower Hudson Valley.
The potential conflict emerged earlier this week, when Representative Sean Patrick Maloney, the D.C.C.C. chairman tasked with protecting the House majority, announced that he would seek to represent territory currently included in Mr. Jones’s seat. The decision would have forced Mr. Jones to compete in a primary with either Mr. Maloney or a fellow progressive congressman, Jamaal Bowman, in the neighboring 16th District.

So the potentially divisive white/black battle among Democrats for the suburban 17th District has been averted, but the primaries in the 10th and 12th will be intramural urban slugfests. And the beauty of it is that, while liberals are fighting over solidly Democrat districts in New York, Republicans will be free to spend their time and money focusing on competitive swing districts across America. Life is good!




 

Texas Armed Robber Killed by Delicious Fried Chicken and Well-Aimed Gunfire

Mainly, though, it was the gunfire:

Port Arthur Police have arrested a robbery suspect who was shot and wounded by an armed citizen who intervened shot and killed another suspect outside the Church’s chicken October 1 in Port Arthur.
Police say Desmond Ingram Jr., 33, was taken into custody by deputies with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office Warrant Division on Friday, October 8. He’s a suspect in the Aggravated Robbery October 1 at Church’s Chicken, 1849 Jefferson Drive in Port Arthur.
During the robbery, Ingram was shot multiple times and was hospitalized for the injuries he received during the crime. After he was released from a hospital, Ingram was transported to the Jefferson County Correctional Facility, where he was booked for Aggravated Robbery. Ingram is held on a $500,000 bond.
Another suspect, Richardo Guient, 33, was shot and killed during the robbery by the armed citizen who intervened.
Investigators say Guient was also a suspect in the robbery of a Jack-in-the-Box on Twin City Highway September 29, two days before the Church’s chicken robbery. The gunman got away with $200 from Jack-in-the-Box.

Earlier this month, Ingram was sentenced to 30 years in prison. You will probably not be surprised to learn he had “several prior felony convictions, and was out on supervised release at the time of the offense for a federal firearms violation.” The getaway driver, Justin Cunningham, was already wanted on a felony warrant from nearby Hardin County.

Dude was at the drive-through window when the robbery went down, had a concealed carry permit, and went to work on these two robbers. You can understand, like, you’re waiting on your three-piece meal and a large sweet tea, and these robbers cause your order to be delayed.

BLAM! BLAM! BLAM! “OK, now where’s my chicken?”

Folks don’t mess around in Texas. They’ll kill for their fried chicken.




 

Not His Lucky Day

Say hello to Damian Devonta Felton and, while you’re at it, go ahead and say good-bye, because he is no longer among the living. Felton was one of three suspects accused last year of murdering Amond Norwood in Macon, Georgia. According to a motion filed by Felton’s lawyer, “Felton had been playing dice with Norwood . . . the evening of May 6, 2021. The two had a fight that was said to have been broken up by two other men, Margaton Dudley and Jerome Beasley.” Felton claimed that he left the house and that, after he was gone, Beasley killed Norwood.

Apparently this argument was sufficiently persuasive that a judge released Felton from the Bibb County jail on $75,000 bond last Friday.

Friday the 13th, that is. Talk about your ominous coincidences . . .

By Saturday morning, Felton had been shot dead.

Police have not yet identified any suspects in Felton’s slaying, but as my brother Kirby says, “Karma has a Glock.”




 

Bedlam in Bellingham

Joe Biden got 61% of the vote in Whatcom County, Washington, which probably explains something about how Jenn Mason got elected to the school board in Bellingham. In case you haven’t heard — maybe you’ve been off the Internet all week, I don’t know — Mason is also the owner of Wink Wink, a “sex shop” in Bellingham. For some unfathomable reason, every good-sized town in America has one of these “sex shops,” selling vibrators, lubricants, lingerie and other such merchandise, despite the fact that all this sort of stuff can now be ordered via Amazon or other online vendors. Excuse me if I seem a bit vanilla or even prudish in this regard. While I was quite the wild man in my youth, three decades of marriage have perhaps tamed my libido somewhat. On the other hand, I was never into the whole whips-and-chains BDSM role-playing thing to which “sex shops” like Wink Wink seem to cater.

While it’s a free country and people can do what they wish in the privacy of their own homes, what kind of weirdos get off on pain and humiliation? The Lincoln Project? But I digress . . .

Mason’s shop offers instruction in classes with titles like “The Fine Art of Fellatio,” “Sex Toys 101,” and “Feeling Myself: Self-Pleasure Pointers.” Who attends these seminars? Who really needs this instruction? If you can’t figure it out on your own — perhaps your technique is not quite a “fine art” — do you imagine the answers are to be found in a class taught by a sociology major from Western Washington University? Do we have any testimonials to Mason’s sexual prowess? Did all the frat boys at WWU praise Mason for her mastery of “The Fine Art”?

None of this would have come to my attention, were it not for the fact that school board member Mason decided to invite students to her shop!

Why is Jenn Mason not under arrest on felony charges?

Imagine if some random stranger, lurking in an Internet chat room, invited your child to a dildo shop to talk about sex. You’d call the cops and have the creep arrested. But through the rainbow magic of LGBTQ “inclusion” — a phrase that functions to deflect all criticism in a place where Joe Biden got 61% of the vote — this “celebration” of “queer youth” apparently didn’t raise any eyebrows in Bellingham.

Where is Anita Bryant now that we really need her?

A Deadly Hate Crime That Liberals Probably Can’t Blame on Tucker Carlson

Say hello to David Wenwei Chou, 68, a resident of Las Vegas, who drove to Orange County, California, with a plan to murder Taiwanese people:

“We believe, based on what we’ve discovered so far, that he specifically targeted the Taiwanese community, and this is one representation of that Taiwanese community,” said Orange County Sheriff Don Barnes, referring to the Irvine Taiwanese Presbyterian Church, which was the target of the attack. . . .
Among the evidence recovered, Barnes said, were notes written in Chinese that Chou left in his car showing he did not believe Taiwan should be an independent state from China. Law enforcement sources said investigators recovered a handwritten note in his car setting out his motivations and thinking for the attack.
Chou was born in mainland China and at some point relocated to Taiwan before moving to the United States, according to Barnes. The sheriff said it appears Chou had an issue with Taiwanese people because of the way he said he was treated while living there.
It is not clear how long Chou lived in Taiwan, but Barnes said he has been in the United States for years and is a U.S. citizen.
The FBI has opened a federal hate crime investigation into the shooting, according to Kristi Johnson, assistant director in charge of the bureau’s Los Angeles office. That would be in addition to any local charges filed in Orange County.

Is there a Chinese-language broadcast of Tucker Carlson, in which he incites hatred among Chinese immigrants? Because liberals in the media assure me that he’s the source of all hate in America.

This reminds me of how anti-Semitic and anti-Asian hate crimes were spiking a few months ago, but because the perpetrators were black, liberals didn’t want to talk about the problem. You eventually must realize that Democrats only want to talk about “hate” when it can be used as a way to scapegoat Republicans. Certainly they don’t want to talk about violent crime as an issue, considering how crime is out of control in the very places where Democrats have the most political power. But it’s too early in the morning to get started on Chicago . . .




 

Personally I Blame Ruy Teixeira

Hang on a minute, and I’ll explain why Ruy Teixeira of the Center for American Progress is the real inspiration for the mass shooting in Buffalo. First, however, the usual suspects have been busy:

Rolling Stone is facing severe backlash on social media after publishing a commentary article suggesting the 18-year-old suspect in the Buffalo shooting was a “mainstream Republican.”
The article suggests that right-wing extremists are commanding the Republican Party and pushing hateful and delusional rhetoric that channels both the “great replacement” theory and white supremacy.
The “great replacement” theory is “the idea that white people, in the United States and white-majority countries around the world, are being systematically, deliberately outbred and ‘replaced’ by immigrants and ethnic minorities, in a deliberate attempt to rid the world of whiteness,” according to the Rolling Stone article.
The theory has served as the inspiration for numerous terror attacks and fueled a “gnawing fear of a minority-white America” that has consumed conservative politics in the country, the article posits.
Thus, rather than a lone wolf, the shooter in Buffalo is a “mainstream Republican” who is “gripped by a racist delusion,” according to the commentary article.
Many on social media have not taken kindly to that suggestion and have ripped Rolling Stone online.

Now, I am less interested in “replacement theory” than I am in replacement fact — that is to say, rather than speculating about future contingencies and seeking scapegoats — it’s much more helpful to ascertain what is actually happening now, and figure out why it is happening. Conspiracy theories and science fiction scenarios about a dystopian future aren’t my stock in trade and (it should not be necessary to say) I am against mass murder.

Also, I am against Democrats like Ruy Teixeira.

You see, in 2002, he published a book entitled The Emerging Democratic Majority, which not only inspired a lot of triumphalist chest-beating about our Glorious Progressive Future, but also inspired an explicitly anti-white rhetoric by Democrats. Every time they lose an election, Democrats now scream “voter suppression” and claim that Republicans are basically trying to re-institute Jim Crow. It is this trend — for which Ruy Teixeira bears direct responsibility — which has fueled the kind of demographic-related Fear and Loathing of which Peyton Genron is the latest gaudy example. Exactly how is murdering a bunch of random people at a grocery store in Buffalo counted as a “win” for anybody’s cause? If random massacres are part of your Grand Strategy, maybe you need to rethink whatever movement you claim to be representing.

As it is, the death toll in the Buffalo shooting is twice the number shot to death this past weekend in Chicago, although 28 others were wounded in Chicago. More than 1,000 people have been shot in Chicago so far this year, including 200 fatal shootings. But none of those shootings gave liberals a reason to blame Tucker Carlson, so you probably haven’t heard too much about them. As for the whole “Great Replacement” scare, I’ve got six kids and five grandchildren already, so you can’t accuse me of slacking off in the demographic department. If y’all ain’t keeping up, that’s not my fault, just like it’s not my fault if some teenage dweeb from the suburbs of Binghamton, N.Y., goes berserk in a grocery store.

By the way, I managed to download a copy of the shooter’s “manifesto,” in which he explains that he is (a) a graduate of a public high school in New York and (b) an engineering major at the local SUNY campus. So, if we’re going to blame somebody, how about the New York public school system and engineering majors? The FBI needs to get busy compiling a dossier of future mass murderers who fit this profile.
